Excellent demonstrations. Makes the watch much more useful when you understand the functions rather than being afraid to mess things up by playing with them.
Your explanations are clear, concise and very easy to follow and I ended up buying this watch purely because of your video. Initially, I was looking for a watch that had a compass, but after seeing what this Casio can do, I decided that I needed the full ABC and couldn't find another watch that could do the job as well as this one. I know it's not as modern as some others, but I don't care. It has everything I need and more. Thanks for doing an excellent review and tutorial. @Spikey Scenes : Just fine. A little wear and tear. Nothing unusual. Though, I am now wearing a GPR-B1000 as a daily driver.
To clarify. I own well over 100 watches at this point. I buy one, wear it for a while, buy a new one. Repeat.
I do swap to older ones from time to time or for special occasions though.

My favourite protrek ever. Love the richness of the display. It has been produced ever with titanium strap. Possibly a rangeman 9400 killer!

Just ordered a PRG-240, this PRW2500 doesn't seem to be made anymore. The PRG-240 has the same look but is slightly "uglier", which I like, and it's got subtle accents of green, yellow and red which is pretty sweet. It hasn't got tide- or moon phase, yacht timer but pretty much everything else. I chose it over the current v3-sensors because the watch looks so much better than any of those, and it's got the duplex LCD.

@@NathanChisholm041 Mine was stolen last summer and I was completely bummed out. I had it for 7 years and it never failed me. The model is no longer in production, but luckily the verified Casio service retailer in Norway had all the parts to make me another! I know it's just a thing, but it has so many uses and I love that it's solar. Feels like it's a part of me... Use it for measuring water temperature all year around. Going ice bathing next week and I measured the water at 2.1°C yesterday. Mmmmmm ;)

@@NathanChisholm041 love Australia! Went there in 97, Sydney, Cairns and Brisbane. Glad I saw TGBR before it died. Would love to go back some day. Yeah, it's an awesome watch. Used it extensively for hiking. Me and a buddy went on a week long trip couple of years ago in the Norwegian wilderness and we were in a black spot for cellular. I could actually use the watch to predict the weather with a great deal of accuracy with the help of the barometer line. I've tried to check if Casio or someone else has made an updated version, but all they're making now is "smart" watches. Was so happy when I got the exact same model back...

for the temperature function i simply subtracted 12 degrees to compensate for my body heat and its within a degree to the ambient temp.

Hi - great videos thanks! When I set the first high tide in the tide screen, I get a different tide icon than the home screen? Very confusing! Also - is it possible to access a more accurate tide time from the watch after setting it up?

This is the first comment I have ever written on RUclips. These two videos were excellent! Just got this watch and you helped me out big time. Thank you for doing these. I do have a question though. I’m 569 miles away from Fort Collins which is where the signal comes from for my area. My watch isn’t wanting to calibrate though. I keep getting errors. I have l-1 signal. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
+JKirk2020 try different positions around the house, not necessarily the closest to the tower and if that doesn't work, there are actual antenna amplifiers you can buy, but I don't know of they work with Casio since they are from Citizen, although I think they just amplify the signal so should work.

Nice watch! Regarding setting up the tide/moon phase, does it get setup with longitude / latitude similar how the Rangeman does? Or is that only for sunrise sunset?
With the moon phase and tide it's about the longitude or time zone setting, the latitude is not important, but you have to know whether you are on the northern or southern hemisphere

Brilliant tutorial, thanks. However, I'm struggling to use the compass feature. Basically I would use it to get back to a specific destination, say when I'm on holiday somewhere. So is it possible to set the point where I am starting from and then when returning be able to get back to that point using the compass feature? If so, could you please let me know what I need to do? Thanks
You would need a map but wouldn’t use this watch for super accurate navigation. Get a dedicated compass for that and have this as a backup. Also, make sure it’s properly calibrated prior to hitting the trailhead.

The PRW2500 is solar and atomic while the PAG is none od those, so function wise, the PRW is better

240 IS solar powered like you said it only lacks the atomic function. Also it has sunrise and sunset data while lacking the moon and tide graphs. The PRW has moon and tide but lacks the sunrise sunset. So you have to decide which is mire important to you 😊
In the temperature, mode setting is it possible to set it to -36c which is a normal body temperature so when you read the temperature when wearing the watch it will read outside temperature without taking the watch off? Hope that's clear.
You can try but I don't think it will work the way you imagined

Hi, can you help please? My compass degree reading shows as - - NW when the needle clearly sits in the NE quadrant! The home time zone is correct: London. I have done the Bi Directional callibration. What should I be doing for the compass degree to not be upside down / shows it in the correct quadrant? Thanks.
The display shows where your watch is pointing, not the needle. Needle ALWAYS shows north, and the watch bearing is showing where you are pointing the watch at

If i am on a three day hiking trip and I exit out of the altimeter function to use the compass, the altimeter will continue logging my altitude right?
I'm confused to chose PRW-2500 and RANGEMAN-GW9400. I know PRW-2500 comes with older generation of Sensor but as functionality wise which one would be grate choice!

Buddy I know this video is old but I'm in the military here in Australia and need a new digital field watch and trying to decide on this the PRW2500R-1 or a Casio G-Shock Rangeman with similar features except without the moon and tide. It needs to be tough. Cheers mate..

Hi guys i didn't used my protrek(this model) a year and when i charged it it's on january 1 2010 and i cant even adjust it and also i lost the rotating compass thing
Thank you for these tutorials you just made me fall in love with my 5 years old watch (Prw -2500 same model 3258 only low profile colors) of which I have recently lost the Outer bezel...
It costs 130 Euro dollar to change it since they have to change the whole middle part, the bezel alone doesn't exist as spare part... it's really a THEFT... what a shame CASIO.
Seems like pre-planned obsolescence stuff. I hope it is not. I have no idea how the outer bezel got off all of a sudden. (maybe there is a way one has not to turn the crown or after an x number of turns it will just detatch). Please anybody with an answer, please like the message so I can see the notification. I do not get notification for messages strangely.

Pretty good choice for sailing, battery life ?
It would be a good sailing watch, but it is not suitable as the main navigation tool. Maybe a Rangeman with gps would be even better, though you’d better have a primary unit either way.

Why are there spaces on the Baro graph?
I have been wearing Casio Pro Trek (module3259) PRG 250 for a decade (10) years now. Its screen started fading and i cannot read the screen well. What should i do? I am in South Sudan.
I set my temperature 10 degrees less while off my wrist and it keeps accurate readings while wearing.
Is there a better alternative to this watch with all the same functions for €300,- or less?
Sadly, nope! Anything else is a compromise.

Hi I'm having an issue with my watch. The tide seems to be accurate however the moon is way off. There's a full moon in the sky but my watch has like 1/8 of a moon. How do I fix that.
Why the baro has thick dots and can only count 10 hours-5 dots and cheaper mod3ls like prg 240 have thinner dots?1-more hours? Is this a problem predicting the weather?

The sound on my count down timer only beep at 10 minutes. Then again at 3 minutes. 2 minutes. 1 minute and 10-0 seconds. Why is that?
