An Underrated $30 Casio Watch: Compass, Thermometer, Worldtime SGW600H

- Today I review a highly underrated watch from one of the many sweet spots in the current Casio line up. The SGW600H is not only amazingly priced at around $30, but it boasts all of your typical digital watch complications, as well as world time, a compass, and even a thermometer too! Priced only slightly more than the iconic Databank CA53W-1, and World Time AE1200WHD-1A, and cheaper than the G-Shock DW5600, why has this watch been so overlooked?
As Casio continue to develop their proprietary sensor technology and smart watches further, many of these massively functional and affordable older models and modules continue to become available. Whether you are exploring remote international locales or adventuring in the urban jungle, this watch makes for one hell of a compelling value proposition, as a navigational and essential survival tool. Join me in my customary table top review to see if this reference might be the best outdoor do-it-all watch in its price range.

One thing I love about your channel 30 dollar watches to 30,000 dollar watches you do a fantastic job.
One thing I love is the fact that it took a whole minute just to do the intro
I love how you treat all decent watches with respect. It doesn't alienate those of us who can't shell out the $$$$$ for a timepiece. Thank you!
If you do that to a Casio, you are actually direspecting it.

Truly enjoy your watch reviews. The history, artistry, and description of each watch is excellent. Thanks
That intro was out of this world. Amazing work and amazing review as always. Thanks TGV 😀
I have a special place in my heart for Casio. They seem to have an endless supply of cool models that are very affordable. I recently picked up an analog day date that I love, the MTD-1087-1AV. It looks fantastic on a brown leather Colareb I had lying around. My collection is ever expanding. Cheers for another great video!
I love when you bring really interestinc cheap pices to the chanel!
Love that you review all price ranges!!
I haven't seen a review as beautiful as this ! Thanks 🙏🏻
Fantastic video! I just might have to add this one to my collection. Really appreciate you bringing lesser known watches to the surface.
Welcome back to the real world TGV! It feels like you’re back to the roots of what made you so darn popular!
Great model and value! 🔥🔥🔥
T, KING of the intros fo shaw! Nice work. Best as always. Matthew
OH MY GOD!!! that is a hell of a killa intro. Now that is how an intro needs to be done. Very clever.
Love to see you review some Casio Edifice watches in the near future. The technology and price combination is hard to beat as well.
Your intros are top notch and masterfully done. Love your videos!
Wow wow wow!!! I just watched the intro three times and have not even watched the review yet. Best intro ever on any channel. And all of this for a $30 watch. Unbelievable. I’m gonna go watch the video now. Thanks TGV!
Very descriptive video! Congratulations! I already ordered it mine at Amazon! Thanks a lot for all the information!
Thanks for the review..been looking at this watch for a while and functionality for price point seems unbeatable.
Once again remarkable intro!!! Excellent presentation and analysis... i just ordered it through a local DO since my garmin fenix 5X, is starting to de-performe... Thank you TGV!
Great review I was looking for some reviews on this watch and couldn't find many if any in English anyway but you did a fantastic job love your channel
The time zone map looks cool, but giving such a large chunk of the limited display space for such a niche bit of information may not be functionally the best solution.
this is a nice alternative to my Ga100 / Gd100 collection :D thanks man! much apreciated
I love my Casios TGV, especially my Rangeman. If every I’m concerned about what watch to wear while out and about, beach, bush (Aussie term there) or gardening, i go for my Casios. Tough and dependable while having a bit of a tactical aesthetic. Btw, if were Casio, I’d be contacting you to work with their team on their next advertising campaign. Excellent intro yet again TGV👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻. U & G to the good Gentry.
Great as always! Really nice watch for the money.
Thanks for the review, I have the Casio Royale as my daily beater watch. I think I'm going to try this watch as my new beater watch.
WOOW, what a intro... Good job T, nice video! Best regards
Great looking Casio, brilliant review of it, no one does better reviews on youtube!
The SGW100 is a great watch. Found it at the family home in a drawer, my brothers old casio, changed battery and it works like new after all these years.
So easy to use and the fact that you have the local time shown regardless of which mode you enter is great. Also the timer function is something every digital watch should have
The SGW100 wears much smaller then the size would suggest , I highly recommend you review the SGW100 and its an extremely intuitive watch to use.
Somente a abertura já mereceu o "like".
Parabéns pelo trabalho.....👏👏👏
Thanks for an honest video of an awesome watch.
Well, this video sold me on which casio really fit my needs and price range for a work watch. Also this is one of the best channel I've seen for watch reviews.
Lovely watch.. thanks for sharing such an affordable beater watch
I love it. Thank you.
love casio - nice vid - thank you sir!
I love the repeating timer function of this watch. It's my go to workout watch.
Sharp piece!! Cheers🤘
I usually love negative screens but the combination is just weird. Chock full of features and at great price! Great video as always
Looks good, just ordered through your Amazon storefront, gonna be my first negative display. Love your reviews, keep up the good job!
Thanks TGV, just bought this in Black for $119.00 AUD with a normal top and bottom display and absolutely love it. A great beater watch!
Great video
I love my World Timer. I do not have this model and might pick one up. My version had a 10 year battery and after 7 days I cracked the acrylic crystal. I hit it hard. 6 months later I am still using it and it is still waterproof. Swim with it all the time. Casio makes a great product.
TGV, again great video and good information. Keep it up. God Bless.
I felt just as giddy about my $15 Casio as I did for my $500 Seiko. When you can get a cool looking watch for well under $100, how can one not get so excited!
Same here. I have many watches, some expensive ones but I often don a Casio. Difference between a watch enthusiast vs a watch snob, I suppose.
love it, cool looking stuff.
Damn, your content is getting better!Im a Casio fan myself.. Currently a Rangeman in my mix.. Tough tough watch.
I'm not really a watch person myself but i had a fable for g-shocks. Your review made me buy this casio... And omg since i saw your bulova accutron astronaut in another review you did I'm hooked. There are so many beauty's out there!
Fantastic review of a very underated watch. I must say as a lifelong watch collector I have a couple of Casios a G Shock and the rotating bezel MTD model with black PU strap, they do a metal bracelet version as well, it's a beautiful looking substantial watch, very good build quality, very bright illuminator, day and date display, it has a face that is a diver watch inspired design, water resistant to 100m. Amazing price, I paid around £59 for it, easily looks like it cost more than twice as much. That's the main thing with casio watches for me very good value for the money.
Going back, my first watch was a very basic cheap Timex but the next decent watch I got was the original casio calculator watch with the numerical 'space invader' game built in, that was a superb watch to have around 1980😎👍😊😁 After a long gap and now in my 50s I've revisited my casio roots, for nostalgic and retro reasons. 😎👍
My G Shock is very robust, wear it when doing manual tasks, outdoor activities, riding my mountain bike etc it can take a lot of knocks, drops etc without fear of damaging it, I can highly recommend them perfect wristwatch for a builder or mechanic etc 😎👍
Nice.. it looks good on those hand too
What a beautiful watch and how many functions for a low price ... I already ordered it thanks to your review ... it is amazing!🙌👍
“ I have $2.......and a Casio!”
Love Casio !
Give him the damn glove!
Thanks for the review...please do a video on the new Seiko Arnie
Cool intro! Great video!
Dat intro is dope!
You should review a luminox watch. I'm curious to hear your personal take on the brand and quality. Love the videos and keep at it!
I'm going on a sport climbing trip to France at the end of this month and this looks perfect! Thank you.
So glad I could help, have a wonderful trip.
I LOVE traveling in France, enjoy it Marina,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Thank you so much! It'll be my first time there and I'm very much looking forward to it.
Well I’ll be damned, only view #4 this time! Great intro as always TGV
Quite a feat..
First time in years that I've wanted another Casio or any digital. Added to Amazon wishlist
I decided to go back to wearing a watch, and I got the blue & black version of this for $30 on Amazon and ordered the black one in this video for $35 on ebay. Really liking it for that Sci-Fi/industrial/tactical look of it. Comfortable to wear, but i would like to try a different strap on it. Also got a G-Shock DW9052-1BCG for $42.
Great review! Great watch! I have Casio twin sensor with a compass feature. I used it for hiking where I couldn't use my phone and the compass feature was SUPER useful. I'm sure it will come in handy navigating London, since I don't have UK phone & still haven't found a place yet. Market is crazy here! I'm sure I'll do a lot of walking without Google Map. Time to put on my twin sensor again!
Thank you Jeremy, I secretly envy you being without a phone!
Reminds me of a recent Will Self lecture I just watched about the negative effects of the "man machine matrix".
Good luck in London, enjoy every second, no where else like it!
Best regards,
TGV
Applause to the intro feel sir!
Good intro, great review, excellent narrative. Love my G's, 8 in all. Work purposed of course. All the th best Sir. 🍷🥃🍷
Thank you Bubba, wow 8 eh?!?! Can you get an cooler!
You have my respect sir. Have a great weekend, stay safe my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
I love this one so much i have both the negative display seen here and the regular display. I like the regular display a bit more but they are both amazing.
There are lots of fun and quirky watches from Casio--although this one has some essentials for outdoor types. I bought a similar one, the Casio SGW-100, as something to wear while jogging. I correctly guessed that my plans to exercise/jog wouldn't last, and as such, I got a cool compass/thermometer type of watch.
Classic TGV. Love it.
Thank you Tristan!
Best regards,
TGV
Casios are such fun watches. My Casio GW-M5610 is my weekend fun watch!
Really like the aeshtetics of that F-91W!
Hello! What a day- a great watchfinder video on a beautiful Patek and now an affordable Casio! This one is definitely on the purchase list...Hope all is well.
Best regards,
Tom
Thank you Tom, enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
Totally agree on using the dual time zones during travel, and having a compass and thermometer will be a great addition!
I have worn this watch for over a year as a work watch, I needed a compass for rough approximation and this watch fit the bill perfectly! Awsome watch for the money, be careful though, I wound up buying the entire twin sensor series because of it....I may have a addiction!
I have one and love it nice size.
M8 that is hands down the best intro!
One I like about digital watches and hybrid watches from casio is that during testing, exam, and traveling. I don't get confiscated for having such cheap watch. Screw smartwatches because they use internet and bluetooth connectivity. Spies always say "low tech beats high tech." So I believe old techmologies are still being appreciated today. Because this watch is great for an outdoor adventure, I came to a right video to be in. Great video and review.
I bought it after this awesome 👏 review 🙏 thanks . the most factor for me is the light weight as a tactical watch
Good luck changing that strap! You've gotta be super careful as the resin can easily get knocked out of shape. I've got the World Time AE-2000W-9AVEF , $30 and amazing specs, 200m wr, 5 alarms, 10yr battery but boy did I struggle changing out that strap. If you are going to put a Nato it's gonna have to be less than 18mm, more like 14mm and that starts to look a little stringy. Great channel. Love you stuff.
Might get one of those for when I go cycling and travelling. Nice reivew. Keep up the good work.
Hello! Thank you for another great video. Could you try to do a review on the Manufaktur Waldhoff Ultramatic? Thank you!
This watch is goated! I have this exact piece and imma say it again goated!!
I love your videos, the same attention to Casios and Rolexes.
An attractive package from Casio. What a price! And of course, well presented be you.
Finally, a watch featured on this channel that I had FIRST! Got mine in '17.
WOW!!! What new sci fi movie is this? Ohhhhh.... it’s your intro!😎👍🏼🤣
The start of (An Underrated $30 Casio Watch: Compass, Thermometer, Worldtime SGW600H) I play it over & over i don't know why but especially the start, that 80s tech theme song so powerful, how on earth did you put it off, a must love !!!
Because of the excellent review you did to this piece I just bought this for my humble collection. In all honesty I was just a hair away from acquiring an affordable Xiaomi smartwatch but then again... They don’t have neither prestige nor horological history and Casio has enough to spread to many other similar choices and still left with plenty of respect behind.
Another thing that strikes me is that sleek profile and looks that (Warning: Rant!) G-Shocks annoy me big time for displaying all over the place the functions and features in ways I don’t find attractive.
Anyhow great vid and greetings from Baja man, I hope you’re safe and sound 😁
The more affordable Casio watches often have extremely useful features. Such a great brand!
Well said!!!
Thank you Simon,
Best regards,
TGV
need this watch 👌
Best Harbor Freight calipers! Pittsburgh! Woot! Oh and of course your intro and reviews are outstanding! Rock on TGV!🦖
Really loved this video, and the reference to possibly the best PC game of all time. Your content is improving with each video, where will this end?!?
Also, my fears that "Powered by Watchbox" would negatively affect your quality were completely unfounded, the videos have improved if anything. Keep bringing it, TGV!
Thank you sir,
I am deeply honored.
O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
“Doesn’t need introduction” then introduces it.
Oh no! A figure of speech. "It goes without saying," is another you might know.
The blue version is nice too :)
My new travel watch!
Epic intro.... 👍
That's a true bargain! Nice 1! Stuart
I love the Alien references. Alien isolation is my all-time favorite game. I would definitely play it!
Beautiful intro, wellmade as always! 👍
Have you worn the Casio gbd-800uc-3er? If so, would you consider a review?
Im looking for a tough digital beater to be worn at the gym etc (min 43mm)
Thanks in advance and Once again,
I really enjoy your vids, they have grown on me since I found them more than informational, they are sophisticated and I love it.
Have a beautiful day and Once again, Thanks man!
Sincerely Jesper.
We all know that password was:
“Hugo is the boss 1”
THANKS A LOT, Rich! Now TGV has to change it... lol!
Nah, I think it's "jingly-jangly jubilee"
A. S. 😂😂 You’re probably right
Great video as always. "Underated" and "Casio" tend to go hand in hand. If you want a watch that's accurate in telling the time, has useful functions, is affordable, you simply can't go wrong. However as watches are mainly about personal choices, there are 1000s out there. If you don't like one, just find one you do 👍
I'm a huge fan of casio awesome watch fantastisc opening
looks really cool. the black screen makes it look better imo
This past week, I bought both the Protrek PRT-50 and this watch, the SGW-600H. I was looking for something that would John Anderton might have worn. I’ll never know why they CGIed over an Omega X-33 but I’ve wanted something similar for years. The floating dial of the ProTrek comes closest to what I was looking for but I also purchased this Casio because I remembered the vid. These are my favorite reviews because they tie together sci-fi and watches.
That;s a pretty large 43mm! Looking it up, all the sites seem to say more like 50mm!
Love that F91. Got the same one. The all gray and black scheme works well.
G-Shock came out with their GA-2100 models recently. Looks like a Royal Oak and the size/fit is amazing because it's a slimmer watch. Fits my small wrists. Looks amazing too. Check them out when you can!
Bar-none the best timepiece channel. I have watched and followed so many wstch channels but I always go back to Urban Gentry. I really like these practical low cost value for money Casios.
