You have to give Casio their due. They are so popular with the teens and 20s that they could do a Daniel Wellington and charge a good few dollars more for a simple device. But they don't. It is quite an honest brand - something to congratulate these days. Another great post TGV. And you're correct about the quality of coffee at a certain outlet. Hot mud

As a kid growing up all the way to my early 30's, apart from a few weeks wearing Swatch (I think it was a Picasso inspired splat) and a day of a Gold Tissot I wore Casio, from the cheapest digitals, to their G-Shock range. Now I prefer wearing Swiss timepieces, but the love for Casio can never be turned off. Spent decades on the wrist for that. Just a few days ago I bought the Casio MRW-200H, fit it with a Goldfinger Nato as a replacement for my old Beater which the lug broke recently (MQ-24 style). It's brilliant.
Absolutely love the show T well done!!! It’s a nice proposition on paper this one. I own it, don’t wear it. The case is a little too rectangular for me. The “polished” case top and bottom doesn’t wear well, scuffs up quick and it shows . The case is like 7mm thick which is ridiculous!!! But it’s too thin, the stainless steel bracelet is almost thicker and just doesn’t look right. The A168 is still the best way to go for me, the electro illumination is far superior and it seems Casio are slowly fazing it out on their models which is sad!
Your final comments on wanting to make conversation with someone wearing a Casio, and “not something I can say about people wearing the smart watches,” is something I agree with as well. All in all, a great video, as always, with sweet inserts of history, film, nostalgia, and even some retro cool video games! By the way, I used to play C&C Red Alert, and later Yuri’s Revenge when it came out, for hours on end! Ah, the good old days…

TGV video, Casio and the 80s, 3 of my favourite things 👍. I love all watches, but definitely have a love of digital watches, possibly because of my love of the 80s and relating them to that era. I’m wearing this watch right now! Not only is it SUPER affordable, but it fits a wide array of looks whether it be casual/around the house or in the office. Such a classy look, I find myself grabbing this one over my nicer pieces often. Of course the timer is great for the grill too!
Great review. The A700W1 is super light, super thin, super reliable, super stylish, and has a super price. I own 3 other casio watches similar to this and this one is my favorite. An absolutely great watch!!!!!!!!!
Started my casio collection a few year ago thanks to you with the glorious databank and my childhood f91w. My daily one by far is the classic g-shock but no other starts a conversation like the databank. Also thanks to you got a seiko skx013 and love it! Thank you TGV!
Just Brilliant. I can't image anyone else in the Watch World producing such amazing consistent content ....even on a Casio. If i were Casio CEO i would make an organization mandate to watch this video. Again well done.
I don’t comment on many videos usually like them and move on. But I must have seen this atleast three times and it is excellent so well made. Not your standard review but really provides some great information of the history and heritage of Casio! Simply Brilliant!!
Love the A700W. Started my Casio journey with the beautiful green f-91w and then chose the A-158 over the A-168 ( just looked too cheap, like a toy). Then I diacovered this one, and I fell in love. Kudos to Casio for their great and timeless timepieces. And kudos to TGV for being the horological historian snd enthusiast this world needs but doesn't deserve.
@@zlobert9877 this may sound like non-answer, but they are right on the same level for me. They fill a similar role, and I end up going with whichever one goes with the rest of my look that day. Despite how similar they are, they don't both always fit with the same looks (just most of the time). I love both of them and wear them about the same. The lume on the A700W is a breath of fresh air though!
TGV, you HAVE to stop making so many watches so tempting for me 😂 I have 4 spaces left in my box and already 7 on the list. In all seriousness though, another completely cracking production. The level of detail both in the editing and information put across was incredible as always.
I have to pick up one of this Casio watch. It reminds me of my Grandmother. She bought me one when I was 8 or 9 years old.. and now I'm in my 50's and just kinda started watch collecting. For the under 40 bucks.. it a little winner, winner chicken dinner 😀. Keep up the good work 👍
Every time you show the 80's really puts a smile on my face and this watch for would put a smile on any watch fans face lot of interesting watches have come out this year so far from Swatch Timex and now Casio it looks like watch companies are hitting the ground running I really appreciate that so glad to be part of early gang lets go.
Oh yes! The A168. That one does it for me. I like the design of the A163 as well. The AE 1200 is the one that I wear the most. Although I like the look of the A700 I am not a watch collector and the 4 watches I own are enough for me. I just find it impossible to stop watching and reading about watch reviews. Must add... What a brilliant review.
Brilliant! Not only the content (the watch) but also the narrative, the research diving into Casio history and the scenografi in the shooting with lots of supporting hints in the background to 80ies movies, adds and games. Very well put together, fun, educating and entertaining. As usual, I might add! Thank you🙏
Excellent video TGV.. Love the intro and the 80s vibe and let's not forget the watches! My wife actually has the A159w a reminder of her law school days, has the awful backlight but she wears it more than her Cartier Santos!
Two years ago I again, 30years after, bought F91w of your influence and it is the best and most comfortable watch I own. Lots of smiles and thumbs up from people around me. This video is absolutely fantastic and it captured everything that we grew up on. You only left out PlayStation but I will let that slide... although I've seen you put that Seiko and Snake Plissken in... ok ok. This made my day, TGV production never disappoints. Onwards and upwards!
So glad I watched this. It made the decision between this and the A168W much easier. My A700W should arrive this week. Thanks for all your great content!
TGV thank you for the fun stroll down 80s memory lane! I remember as a teenager drooling over the Casio A700W and saving every penny to buy one. Oh the memories!
I’ve been wearing almost exclusively Casio watches for the last 2-3 weeks, coming from an owner of Omega, Hamilton, Oris, Seiko, etc. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s questioning the point of my other watches, especially after getting my first steel G-Shock.
Glad to hear it, I just purchased the gold tone one for myself last night, thank you for the support Patrick and enjoy your new Casio! Best regards TGV
Damn that intro was so well done. Found the channel as I'm trying to find a decent cheap watch and had NO idea where to head. Loving the content so far!
This watch lives in my EDC bag since it's so slim and fits virtually any attire I would be wearing that day. It's my emergency watch if i had to just rush out of the door. I have larger wrists and it looks to small on me but it still gets complements on how it looks. Ive given this watch to a young lady working the drive thru at Wendy's close to my job just taking it right off my own wrist and handing it to her along with my payment for my food. It's been 2 years now and she's still wearing it. When a timepiece is as cool as it is and only paying 20 bucks for it at Walmart ya can't go wrong.
I've been watching tgv here for quite sometime. Actually since pre covid when I was still in highschool haha. I'm admittedly still young at 20 years of age, but thanks to the likes of tgv, iv gotten myself in to the wonderful world of horology and time pieces slowly building a collection. Currently having three seikos, a turtle, alpinist and panda speedtimer, and have just recently bought a bulk purchase of 8 casios. I was thinking of buying a persage line watch to add to my seiko collection, but my mum recently found her old collection of casios. We had a small talk about the history of her experience with casios, and long story short it got me hooked. Just bought 7 casios from the vintage line and the ae1200h due to my affinity for james bond, and the inspiration he has become for me. Inclusive of what was bought were of course the a700, the iconic a100 alien watch, a158, a168, two aq800e's with one black and one white dail, and a b640. All for the same price as one persage seiko 😅. But thank you tgv for being who you are and the content you provide. Which provides both affordable and luxury options.
Thank you for going through the detailed history of this watch and the predecessors which inspired its design. Can't find a better look at this watch than what you put together here. My A700W is in the mail and I can't wait for it to arrive. Cheers.
Fantastic review, love the cinema references. I'm a nurse and this is my dedicated work watch. Has a timer, easily accessible 24H format, fantastic backlight, and easily replaceable. My runs 6-10 sec fast a month, which I find completely acceptable.
Very usable to count heart rate and respiration but i found analog watch is more practical, cz i dont need to remember the number, but only the hand of the watch, quarter, half, full minute, easy.
Another fantastic video. Honestly. They just keep getting better and better. I learn something new every time and really appreciate the independence that is lacking from so many other watch related channels here on RUclips. Bravo Sir 👏
I can't believe I came across your video/channel! Recently I've really been wanting to pick this exact watch & the "Calculator" model. Want all 3 main colors Gold,Silver,Black! 😆 The Nostalgia has me loving these all over again! 😆
Good evening TGV! Each time I think about may having to many Casios in my collection, we have a review in the channel highlighting the brand. I really loved the 80s references in the video. Casio and 80s sports cars - a perfect fit in my opinion. Have a great evening!
Thank you as always my friend. I know exactly how you feel about Casio, so difficult to say no and before you know it, you have a dozen of them! 😅🙏 Have a great evening and chin chin 🥂😎 Best regards, TGV
I highly appreciate the mention of the " Ladri di biciclette" . I am getting old and feeling great nostalgia for the past. I enjoyed watching that movie. The part when he takes that aweful decision of doing such thing and his son seeing it all, made me so engaged wishing he wouldn't do it. The boy, Enzo Estaiola had such a great performance, specially being so young and in that era., thanks for leading me to that jewel. I do have a casio, and felt embarrassed. I don't own a Rolex. I do have my father's Omega seamaster de ville, cal 565, from 1968, saving now to have it serviced. Regards
I have one of these for myself. I got the gold-tone one for my father as a retirement gift when he retired from his professional business career that started back in the mid-80's when the Casio digital watch was the height of wearable technology, bringing his career full circle in a way. He doesn't wear regular watches anymore, the health tracking functions of his smart watch are too important for him day-to-day, so this inexpensive gesture conveyed the sentiment without the guilt of not really being able to wear it too often. I'll likely be wearing the silver tone one to my brother's wedding in LA where expensive watches can make you a potential target for thieves.
been rocking this A700 beauty on a Timex Falcon Eye bracelet and it's just so appropriate in so many situations. And for how stunning yet affordable it is, I also use it as the "walk through my house in the middle of the night" watch. Top clip, TGV!
i have the gold version of this watch, it wears like a second skin and fits under almost any cuff so it gets worn a lot in the cold with anything long sleeve and is great for small wrists. my only complaint and it’s unavoidable with affordable chromed resin cases is that it’s a scratch magnet and the light can really reveal it, but at its price as a “beater” watch it’s hard to complain. this design and module with a solid bracelet, stainless steel case and mineral or sapphire glass would be absolute perfection
Those small digital Casios truly are timeless classics. While an F-91W may not be beaten in functionality for your buck, the aesthetic changes made here surely do the watch good. Money well spent!
I have yet to get the A700, but it's on my list. If i have to pick one Casio I love more than the rest. It's got to be my trusty A168. Im on my second one now. My first lasted me well over 10 years. I was not as into watches then as i am now, so i dont remember why i gravitated towards that over any other watch, but i have loved it since.
I just bought this a couple of weeks ago on the milanese strap and I absolutely love it. I own a few casio watches and I've worn this one more since I've had it than any of my others. I might just have to buy this one with the stainless steel strap now.
Recently I got a good deal on the GLS69, got if for around $60 brand new. It has a low temp LCD, bullbars and some advanced functions from the G9000, I think. Enjoying it!
Loved the montage of 80s bits and bobs! I feel like nothing quite does it like the F91w when it comes to that classic casio look. The calculator watch a 2nd place. Can't forgive the mix of brushed and polished metal on this A700W!
Brilliant attention to detail, even just for a CASIO video. This is one I need to consider. I already have the F-91W, the MRW-200H, and the CASIO Royale 👍🏻
I love your devotion to the Casio databank. The newer models are disappointing compared to what they used to be. It had a Tele memo, schedule that would scroll a message at a preset time. Countdown. World time and of course a calculator. An amazing watch. Sadly the new models don’t come close to the older ones and are mainly for show. Another great commentary and your 80s montage was awesome.
Great video and love to see you cover this! I've actually bought this 3 times myself, first one for my sister just like this one but in gold, and then this one and one in gold on a strap for me. Such fun and accessible watches that bring a lot of appreciation for the hobby, and a very valid recommendation for just about anyone. Keep up the great content good sir, and all the best from Norway!
After decades of not wearing a watch, and after minutes of research, I ended up grabbing this watch off of Amazon. It's supposed to be for Christmas, but I'm hoping that my wife won't make me wait! I'm an '80s kid, and I remember having a calculator watch, but also remember it not being very useful. I can't wait to start wearing this watch, and I'm thinking I would likely get one of the nylon bands for it.
This is why i love your channel this piece i own n wow i love it... £30 DOLLARS or £10k watches etc you appreciate that CASIO is in everyones collections wether youve rolexs omega etc !!! What im trying to say you respect casio like a lot of high end watch enthusiasts !!!

Started my casio collection a few year ago thanks to you with the glorious databank and my childhood f91w. My daily one by far is the classic g-shock but no other starts a conversation like the databank. Also thanks to you got a seiko skx013 and love it! Thank you TGV!
So glad to see you reviewing one of my favorite watches from my humble collection! The A700 truly is something special. Fantastic video!
OMG, the best 80s homage intro imaginable!!! This is what the 80s means to me 👌
Just Brilliant. I can't image anyone else in the Watch World producing such amazing consistent content ....even on a Casio. If i were Casio CEO i would make an organization mandate to watch this video. Again well done.
As usual, another great review by TGV. I've learned more about the Casio than I ever knew. I've been given a renewed appreciation for this Casio.
Do you like this more than a158?
I'm only 1:30 in and can I just say; that intro was bloody brilliant!
My A-168 was $17.57, and is a time keeping freak, at +1 sec. per 3 months. The backlight is a great full dial blue. Put it on a black NATO.
Oh yes!
Intros just get better and better 😎❤🔥
Brilliant! Not only the content (the watch) but also the narrative, the research diving into Casio history and the scenografi in the shooting with lots of supporting hints in the background to 80ies movies, adds and games. Very well put together, fun, educating and entertaining. As usual, I might add! Thank you🙏
Simply the only watch channel I actually look forward to watching.
Thank you for taking me back to a Happy moment in time.
Thank you my friend, and in turn, this comment made my day.
Keep being awesome Igor!
Onwards, upwards and best regards,
TGV
So glad I watched this. It made the decision between this and the A168W much easier. My A700W should arrive this week. Thanks for all your great content!
Thanks for stimulating those 1980s feelies. It is good to revel in nostalgia from time to time.
TGV thank you for the fun stroll down 80s memory lane! I remember as a teenager drooling over the Casio A700W and saving every penny to buy one. Oh the memories!
Thanks much TGV! Can't wait to watch it!
two big thumbs up just for the nostalgic intro!! 👍👍
Cool. I own the same A700. Love to have seen your effort of putting it on a pedestal
Sounds like all of your watches are shitters. So I’m not quite sure why wearing a Casio would be such a contradiction….
Had my eye on this one for a while. This review convinced me to push “Buy Now”. Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad to hear it, I just purchased the gold tone one for myself last night, thank you for the support Patrick and enjoy your new Casio!
Best regards
TGV
The Urban Gentry has always churned out in depth quality content. An absolute class act!
When a timepiece is as cool as it is and only paying 20 bucks for it at Walmart ya can't go wrong.
i really should add one to my collection. awesome 80s video editing!!!!!!!!!
Cheers.
You just can’t fault this watch. It’s a bargain and full of charm. Awesome video!
A168 ♥ The best of them all!
Always glad to see a Casio!! And first time ever - that I’m wearing the exact watch you are talking about.
👏👏👏
So cool to hear, enjoy!
Thank you Lisa,
Best regards,
TGV
Thank u TGV if it wasn’t for finding your gem of a channel I’d never discover my true love for horology 🎉.
That makes it all worth it. Thank you for the inspiring comment, onwards, upwards and best regards!
TGV
Very nice. I have the A168, and it has both the great full backlight and a minimum seven year battery. Makes me smile every time I look at it.
Bravo Sir 👏
I own the Casio A700w-1 and I find it to be my favorite casio!! the strap and the upgraded lume really make it worth the price!!! stay classic.
Have a great evening and chin chin 🥂😎
Best regards,
TGV
One of your best intros. Nice work!
Thank you so much Brayden, O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
I just bought this a couple of weeks ago on the milanese strap and I absolutely love it. I own a few casio watches and I've worn this one more since I've had it than any of my others. I might just have to buy this one with the stainless steel strap now.
Yay, another Casio 😁 This rabbit hole is infinite. Amazing intro btw!
Recently I got a good deal on the GLS69, got if for around $60 brand new. It has a low temp LCD, bullbars and some advanced functions from the G9000, I think. Enjoying it!
What a beautiful incredible watch this is. I have so many watches way more expensive but I always find myself wearing this more than anything else!
Have a nice evening TGV! You got me into collecting casio / g shocks.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 The best watches to collect, thank you and enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
Absolutely love my A700, had been thinking for a while that there wasn't much content about it on here!
Thanks mate - just bought one online. Love my A158W, so this seems just my cup of tea.
The intro was EPIC! Your best so far. 👏🏻♥️
I have this in all gold as a once a month wear, and never fails to bring a smile to my face when I do.
Looks great Marc, you and your team truly understand your customers need/wants 😊👍😎
Yes! The coolest retro Casio is under the spotlight!!!
You sold me. I bought one straight after this video. Love your content btw
The A700 is one my favorite Casio watches that I have ever bought. Great video👍👍
I've loved and owned this watch for a few years now. I dress it up or down. Always a good addition.
This intro brings so much nostalgia and childhood memories😊
This 80s kid wholeheartedly approves of your montage intro. Well Done 👍
This guy makes you fall in love with any piece he talls about. That's why i got the dw 290 after that video
This is why i love your channel this piece i own n wow i love it... £30 DOLLARS or £10k watches etc you appreciate that CASIO is in everyones collections wether youve rolexs omega etc !!! What im trying to say you respect casio like a lot of high end watch enthusiasts !!!
