  • There's so much more to life than just luxury watches. With all the recent talk on my channel of Tudor, tourbillon, Grand Seiko, grail watches, Zenith, and so on, it's once again time to return to watches that anyone can afford. In today's video I share a mini review of the Casio MRW-200H-1EVDF and discuss the Casio MRW range, its surprisingly interesting backstory, and why it is the best analog, non-digital watch in the $20 to $30 price range that absolutely everyone seeking a new timepiece should consider. Join me for a retro and nostalgia fueled mini 90s adventure all about a Casio that's not only a trusty beater watch, but is also compelling, fun, the best choice in its price range, and affordable above all. What do you think about the Casio watch featured in this video? Please share in the comments!

A Casio MRW totally saved my ar$e when I was in a tight spot. I'd been relying on my phone to tell the time for years but suddenly needed a watch for a new job for little or no money. It had to be cheap, tough, accurate, legible, lightweight and effectively disposable - this little Casio totally fit the bill! It also rekindled my interest in watches and I've moved on to bigger and better things since. Despite buying it as an emergency 'burner' watch at a difficult time, I became very fond of it and will keep it in my collection forever.

Truth! You don't need 20 options in the $12-$20 range. At least, not so many that are so cosmetically similar. But maybe you have to hold onto those older terrorist models with the horrible lume because so many people want to keep replacing the ones they already have.

Have had my first one for 10 years of a very hard life.
On its second band, third battery, bezel glued back on multiple times, crystal polished so you can read the time.

After watching this video last week, I went into the case and pulled mine out. It had been relegated to occasional "around-the-house-beater," but your review elevated it beyond that. It has been proudly on my wrist for the past seven days. I've always thought its looks punched well above its weight, but during the recent heat and humidity, I was pleased with the comfort of a lighter, non-metal watch. From splashing around at the beach, a ball game and a family BBQ; it felt good and looked great on my wrist. Thanks for reminding me that price should not limit wrist time. I finally enjoyed this watch as I did the day I first took it out of its box.

Great to see the Casio MRW-200H getting reviewed it's a truly great watch and I will always own one - great time keeper, legible, comfortable, good looking; even the strap is good (I was worried it wouldn't last after I'd gone through 4 or 5 straps on the F91W but 2 years on and it's as good as new). I got the white numerals version. I bought one because I was struggling to read the time on my F91W, couldn't be happier. The bidirectional bezel makes timing things so much easier than a unidirectional dive bezel too.

This was the watch that got me into watches. I wanted something analog bc growing up I only had digitals. I only ever referenced the time from digital displays also (microwaves, vcrs, etc) and I literally couldn't glance at a normal clock and know the time and it embarrassed me. I bought the MRW bc it was cheap and looked cool. I totally fell in love with it and beat the hell out of it at work and it just kept going. It has been through the wash and slammed against concrete and still works fine.

During the early nineties my grail watch was Tom cruise’ Porsche design orfina. But back then it never occurred to me that a black watch with a black band could be pvd metal. I thought it must have been plastic. A local shopkeeper had one the 80s version of this and it fascinated me. I even thought the date window looked like another hand. Fast froward to 2012 I was lucky enough to visit Japan. And on a footpath stall we’re dozens of cheap Casios including one of these with more of a field watch aesthetic. Had to get one and still have it.

Yep. I have this watch (black with white hands version). It is my beater/home improvement project/cycling watch. I've had it for probably 7 years and only replaced the battery once. It still looks almost as good as new and I love it for when I don't want to risk damaging my "good" watch.

Glad you finally review this watch. I owned the MRW200H watch since 2 years ago and it's the best analog beater around. The only down side is its thin strap & cheap resin material.

I love this watch. The black & white 1BVES is available in the UK from Argos for £20, a bargain. But be warned you will want to get more variations, 1 is never enough. I can vouch for that 😮. Thanks TGV for another great video, fantastic production, chapeau sir.

Your video editing is insane, all the cuts to the 90's awoken some latent memories inside me from when I was a child! When I saw Command and Conquer and all those movies and commercials, I was like WOAH, I remember those!!!

I bought this watch with the orange accents over one year ago. It has been superb and is very light on the wrist. Recently replaced the original strap (which broke) with a NATO version that fits perfectly. The best value for money watch!

Great choice! Definitely adding one of these to my Casio collection. I will make another case for the Casio MTD-1053D, costs less than the Duro and fits smaller wrists better. I have mine on a mesh strap.

Excellent video TGV...I always love these affordable Casio reviews, especially with the 80s and 90s cinematic nods. I've been considering the white dial version as a Living Daylights styled addition to my collection. It's one of my favourite Bond films, and as a James Bond obsessed Casio fan it seems like a winning combination.

I have 6 of these in various colors including one with the stainless steel band and black dial. As a healthcare worker these are my go-to workhorse watches. These watches have proven to be reliable, very accurate and easy to clean. I also like the 100 meter water resistance. The Casio MRW-200H is very lightweight, practical and highly functional. These watches are very easy to read at a glance. I've replaced the band on one of them after about 3 years. The batteries last over 2 years and are easy to replace. The bidirectional rotating bezel is a plus even though it's not dive watch quality- It works good enough. I've gotten many compliments on these watches over the years, I have many other watches but these are among my favorites and get the most wrist time due to my work. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Great watch - I have owned a few and always enjoyed their honesty / simplicity - I liken these to the Luminox Navy Seal at a fraction of the cost - tbh though, I’d nominate the Duro as the best analogue watch under $100 on style, build quality and value - it’s a true all rounder

Thank you for covering this watch. I own a junk removal business and this Casio in on my wrist more than any other watch. I have the orange 4B. I think im on my 3rd one in the last 11 years because they get pretty beat up. Usually the strap is the first to go and I just buy another watch. When I come home its usually time for the Bertucci or a Flieger style watch. Cheers

Yes, spot on, remarkable timekeeping, something like 2 secs per month for me! I have the MRW-H300s solar version which is keeping silly time at about 1 seconde per month. I'd recommend that, but I think they have stopped making it. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, so need a bigger watch. It looks great, but it doesnt have as useful a bezel.

I’m so glad I picked one of these up. Have three Casio’s now a Blacked Out W800H, MRW-200H, and Casio Duro with the blue and black bevel. I like the MRW-200H so much I’m getting another one in gold featured in the video, and sporting the more legible and NASA version for a work beater watch.

  • @noisepuppet
    @noisepuppet Год назад

You picked my favorite variant of this watch. The handset is downright pretty. But I passed it by for the very similar MW610H. The dial on that one is very G-Shocky and fun to look at, and the big fat bezel serves as a bumper. It's my watch for yard work and other hazardous duty. It really impresses me that Casio bothers to get the second hand perfectly aligned on a $26 watch, and the movement wobbles not at all. In general, matte black is a good finish for an outdoor watch, as there's nothing quite like glancing down at your wrist and getting an eyeful of sunlight reflecting off of polished steel. Anyway, this video is poetry, as always. Thanks!
