I finally got one of these today, Tim! I was getting some last-minute stocking-stuffers at Walmart & they were there for $21. I love how light it is & how legible it is; I think it’ll be a great beater field watch.
Great review I've hand my eye on this model for a while just because it is a great example of what Casio does better than anyone else, durable, useable, low cost watch. All low price analog watches suffer from short duration lume and it is a weakness of Casio analog watches including the great MDV-106 Duro. For the same MRW200H price point in digital AE-1600 is a great option.. good day time visibility, good backlight, and they do a black out version if you want to avoid shine. Perfect for someone who wants a dependable watch at a throw away price. If you want to pay more you can go G-shock or the MDV-102 which has the toughness of the MDV-106 but with a powerful backlight. Glad someone is covering practical watches at reasonable prices
I wear this watch as a beater, work, everyday watch. Definitely one of my favorites, and most on wrist time as my collecting of watches just started 4 months ago. Big fan of Casio and The Citizen Group (Eco-Drive, Bulova, Miyota, Alpina) speaking of which this one has one of Miyota's classic tried and true 2035 movements. It's an awesome watch that looks like a Luminox for $22, and will last through an apocalypse provided you have a spare battery, strap, and some buffing compound or Polywatch. If you don't have one yet you should.
Thank you for watching. I was looking up the module for this watch on Casio's website and for kicks looked up the operating manual...one page. Now that is simplicity and as you pointed, out, apocalypse proof! The module for this watch is a Casio 5125.
I have MRW210H same watch Velcro strap love this thing, I work commercial construction so I beat the piss outta this thing, keeps great time easy to read and light weight. Great review!
This strap fits me a lot better when swapped around! So the long part on the top and the clasp part on the side of 6 o clock. The watch now sits perfectly in the middle of my wrist, while it used to point outward too much.

You have some great choices. When I travel (this is on my list of episodes...how to choose which watches to bring), I think of safety/security first. Having watches stolen is not how we want to distribute our collection. I would venture into one or two watches per day. One for activities and one for relaxation/dinning with friends...both could be similar watch types like two divers for one day. For snorkeling, would definitely have one watch per day...where else would be a better opportunity to experience/test how your dive watches perform? I like the travel watch with auto-adjust time feature. A lockable backpack for airplane travel (carryon) would certainly carry your travel watches and the others could be checked within their own lockable case. I recommend being intentional about wearing visibly cheap watches in large public gathering spaces such as marketplaces, tourist trap type gatherings, etc. I would also carry a second watch on my person in a secure, separately attached to your body inner-garment travel pouch. This pouch serves as a great way to carry $, passport, keys, ID, etc as well. After determining that list, cut it back by 1/3 and you've then honored your wife's concern. This watch is really just about perfect except..... the lume is absolutely worthless. As soon as the light gets dim there is just no point. Never understood why they do that. How much could it add to the cost? C'mon, Casio. Fix this!
I bought this watch and my initial thoughts were the same. However, what I have found is that although the initial lume fades it still retains a level of lume which is visible hours later. It’s often a case of eye adjustment to the dark. If I hold mine under a lamp for 20 seconds before going to bed, I can still make out the time 8 hours later in the early hours of the morning.
I have this watch too and its even bigger 210H brother and I love it - but (this is me) like all watches I buy NONE of them are ever long enough to fit my 8. 5" wrist so I have to find a way to put a NATO on everything, but the lug width means an 18mm? width which would not be a good look - I had to settle for adapting a set of strap adapters from Jays and Kays on ebay so it now takes a 22mm NATO but I cant wear it without it. Why can no watchmaker include a longer strap for us with neanderthal wrists--LOL
You make a great point. I’ve seen the +8” wristers be excluded from some fantastic Casios. Thanks for sharing the Jays and Kays option for a larger NATO strap. Have a great week.
I bought the Casio 107 Duro.. its an cool watch and excellent price/quality ratio, but little too heavy for some activities... well i just take my f91w for runs etc... untill i get this one 😂
Indeed. If scratched, pop bezel off with fingernails and rub out with Meguiar’s PlastX…Polywatch works but not as well and you don’t get 10 oz for the same price!😊
Yep, I think I prefer acrylic to mineral. Scratch a mineral crystal. You have it forever. I’ve polished my acrylic crystal on a similar solar Casio and it buffed up like new. Acrylic or sapphire for me.
Thinking of getting one of these, trying to get away from smartwatches, but I have one question. How do you handle the day and date function on months that have less than 31 days? Do you reset the watch every first?
Yes, for this watch and any day and date display watch, you can reset just the date and the day of the week remains unchanged and correct. I have more than one watch, which means when I change the date function on the watch I'm wearing (usually quartz/battery because they run for years), I change all the watches with active dates. Thanks for the comment.
Because this one was purchased from a company in Spain, I suspect the supplies are geared to specific regions of sales. Ebay might be a great source for alternate languages on the day/date complication.
