The memory foam of the SG12 is a high-quality material made for creating an extremely supportive and comfortable fit. The drawback is that it is very moisture absorbent. I do have very high-quality Merlino wool socks that make either boot feel just as snug and secure as the other. As mentioned in the video, my Sidi is a 14, the SG12 size 13, with the Gaerne running a half size bigger. I absorb the difference with a wee bit more toe room for safety, and also can fit a better insole into the boot if I want to. I've gone to a little more toe room so that I don't repeat breaking my toes in a rock kicker incident.
Your WET weights are mixed around... please carefully check your video - the SIDI is the HEAVY one when wet. I agree with others - your video is pretty confusing, because you base all the findings on the WET boots, yet the Gaerne is the LIGHTER one when wet.....
I've got a pair of the SG-12"s that I love that are probably close to 15 years old. I've replaced a few straps and buckles along the way, but I will be looking at replacing them with a new pair of SG12's soon. As you mentioned a good quality insert is a huge improvement

I got word that right now Sidi isn't allowing Chromerburner to sell products to the US. I'd guess that domestic retailers aren't happy about people buying cheaper in Europe. That has happened before, then the restrictions are lifted... Bottom line, with a few minutes of searching, usually there's a deal out there somewhere. There are also two German retailers I've used in the past that also cover shipping and have no taxes.
You have the wet weights backwards from what you read off the scale. The Gaerne weighed less wet. You read the Sidi wet as 5.8 and the Gaerne as 5.1, which seems unlikely.
I just got my sg12 after being on tech 7 for the past couple of years and man the sg12 are hard. Definitely miss the comfort from the tech 7. But im sure they will last alot longer just due to how hard the plastic and leather is.

I just got my Gaerne SG 12 today. And on first fit it only gives pressure on the left and rightside of the ankle. I measured my foot and ordered the correct size. My concern now is: will it set to my ankle in time? Or does it remain so stiff and do i need to look for a bigger size?
Get a 1/2 size bigger! It’s easy to compensate for a bit big, thicker sock, upgraded insole. But a bit tight is no good. It also doesn’t allow for impact, breaks toes.
Not at all. I do have a theory... There is a huge black market for boots, you can likely go on Ebay and "find" sidi and gaerne boots for super cheap, too cheap....knock offs from China. I've seen Husqvarna helmets for instance, that I know for a fact are NOT legit. These knockoffs might be the "problems" we hear about, where someone in once day destroys a pair of boots. Nonsense. The other theory is somebody buys a pair of boots, gets them very wet and muddy and leaves them in a warm place for weeks or months, then come back to find a destroyed pair of boots. Duh.
I have the SG-12s and IMO the padding inside is better on them and they are more comfortable. Also the buckles are way better IMO. I had the cheaper Sidi X-3s and those were junk. Should of gotten the crossfires last time. I found the break in on both brutal but the SIDIs were worse.

Gaerne now is making an enduro version of the SG12 and a friend bought them, will be interesting to see how he feels about them after a few more rides. In this video you show the Gaerne weighing in at 5.20 lbs dry and when wet you show it weighing even less at 5.13 lbs, so taking in to account the +/- accuracy of the scale your video shows the Gaerne weighing pretty much the same whether dry or wet and not about 1/2 lb more as stated. The video then shows the Sidi weighing 5.29 lbs dry and 5.80 lbs wet so it would be the Sidi that weighs about 1/2 lb more when wet and not the Gaerne according to your scale and this video. A bit confusing.
Forgot to mention 1 HUGE difference... Sidis are no longer made in italy. Gaerne still are. Over the last few years, sidi has been riding on their past reputation when quality has dropped significantly. Many complaints about soles falling off.

After Sidi moved manufacturing out of Italy their quality has gone way downhill. Gaerne SG 22 is the best boot money can buy! Second now is SG 12 , Third Tech 10 .

I also live in the pnw and debating if I should get something that's available with an enduro soul or just get the sg12's without. any thoughts on this? They make the Gaerne off road boot that looks like the sg12 but it's specifically for off road. It's cheaper and...better. Katoom, famous dude, has a pair and he really likes them. They are lighter too.
No. The SRS sole is glued on, but neither the SG12 or Crossfire TA have glued on soles. They are "welted" soles. I've had the SRS in every pair separate at about 18-24 months, as eventually a combo of water and heat kill the glue. But the two in this video are free from that risk.

Usually, I get stuff from them in 10 days. I just ordered a jacket and adv bag from them. Looks like they are using International FedEx right now.

moose boots are pretty close to water proof, I also find them very comfortable. and they are cheap!

Are the TA boots built in Romania like the garbage SRS boots?
I'm not sure... I could check. But the quality has been great. Just wore them 8 out of 10 days on a trip to E Washington and Idaho.
