    Ive had my SG12s for 3 years and I love the protection, durability, and quality, but as you mentioned, the toe box is a little tight. Also as you mentioned, it only squeezes my right foot. Doesnt hurt my riding and I dont even notice while riding, but I cant walk around in the boots for an extended period as it finally just gets too uncomfortable on my right foot. Thanks for the review all I need to see as I will get another pair of Gaerne and very happy to hear they are just a touch wider and softer.

    Hello! What Alpinestars boots do you wear for wider feet? I own pair of Gaerne Fastback Endurance (which fits my wide feet pretty nicely) but would love to test some boots from Alpinestars that can fit wider feet.

      I have not found AStars to be wider then the new sg22’s. So far these are the widest mx boots I’ve found.

    Why did you send your first set back?

  • @xBobby
    @xBobby 10 месяцев назад +1

    I just sent back a pair of sg22 cause I ordered a 11 and they felt way to big, I noticed you’re wearing lone peaks, did you notice on the sizing that the sg are a 46 euro not your typical 45/45.5 in typical size 11 sizing?
    I got a pair of tech 7s at a absolute bargain so I’m gonna stick with them for a season, until stores get more of the sg22 in stock but I’ll trying either a 10 or 10.5

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  10 месяцев назад +1

      Good eye! Yeah all I can wear for sneakers are the lone peaks and I’m a size 11 US in those but I’m a 11.5 in any other sneaker. The sg12s were a little narrower then the sg22s. Problem I was having with the sg12s is the right outside boot was rubbing just below my last toe and started creating a bunion. I also couldn’t walk around with those boots as it felt like there was a rock in them, but the 22s work a lot better for me.

    Thank you for the review. I'm just curious, does the 22s feel and look as durable as the 12s? Thank you

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  Месяц назад +1

      Yes absolutely, they do! I had a few pairs of 12s and currently have 72 hours of riding time on my 22s and they are every bit as durable as my 12s.

    Would you say they suit someone with a wide foot? I tried an sg10 on today and the toe box was too tight, not sure if the sg12 is wider. I. Keen on the sg22 but worried about the toebox, no shops local have them to try

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  10 месяцев назад +1

      They are definitely wider then the 10’s and 12’s. I wear Altra shoes because I have a wide foot and these 22’s so far are the widest I’ve found.

    I have wider feet, and have the SG12's in a size 10 (and also wear the Altra running shoes). My size in the SG12's, I have gotten the outer toe rubbing issue, as you described in one of your earlier replies... I'm curious with the SG22's if I should stick with the same size 10's, they will provide enough of that relief in the toe box compared to the SG12's? Or would it be recommended to go a half size up? Unfortunately, there is no place near me that stocks these things to try on, so i'm having to do the gamble of the online order.

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  17 дней назад +1

      Great question! Same exact issue I had. I wore a size 11 in old sg12 and altra shoes. I stayed 11 in the sg22 and zero rubbing issues and I have just over 74 hours in these 22s. I’d stick to the same size 👍

    How do you rate the SG12 and SG22 for toe box protection? I am looking for something to stand up to rock impacts on single trail.

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  2 месяца назад +1

      Protection wise I feel they’re the same. The sg22 is more comfortable to me and has less bulk top to bottom on the toe box area, however, it is slightly wider then sg12 which I prefer.

      Same welt,
      they use a different insole in the 1/2 sizes. Ie: A 43.5 uses a 44 welt.

    Tore my Achilles wearing SG12s bought tech 10s and was gonna keep the 12s put them on after riding the tech 10s for a few months and sold them. They’re so freaking heavy and feels like you have lead weights just walking around in them.

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  10 месяцев назад

      It is noticeable and when combined with the softer feel, more comfortable toe box and ankle design makes for an amazing boot. From my initial review to now, I would say the 22s are significantly better then the 12s.

      @@moto-x Riding AStars Tech 7’s. They aren’t bad boots at all but I have 2 complaints. 1- not a lot of feedback through the boot and 2- the toe box is tall requiring me to shift my riding position more than I would like in certain circumstances.

    Well there is nothing with more support than Alpinestars Tech 10's. Most would say its' overkill, and they are too stiff. I love my SG12's. I tried on the SG22 today and they actually felt really soft. Super comfy. I was going to get them but they didn't have my size.
