I didnt like the argument about soles as you are comparing the SIDI SRS sole when the equivalent would have been the TA sole which is also still available (but onbviously that is a sister model )
The thing that kept me away from the Crossfire 3 was the fact that it pinched the back of my ankle for some reason despite it being perfectly fine in both the crossfire 2 which i own as well as the Sidi adventure 2 which i used in more casual ADV contexts.

Nice review George, would be interested in a comparison between the two boots now that you have some miles on the new ones.

I’ve talked a little about the gaernes during some of the rides. I should do a review now that I’ve put time on them.

Great video George. You'd be entitled to call this a postmortem review - no one can argue you didn't get your money's worth our of those!
I know it'll take a couple of rides to develop an opinion but I'm already looking forward to your thoughts on articulation between the two (brake pedal control and shifting). Perhaps in a future ride video you could make it a 'talking point'. Cool backdrop, btw.

That’s a good subject. Every ride I’m having to learn my rear break lever all
over again. Sometime first 5 minutes of the ride I hit it on something and the rest of the 4 hours it’s now bent out of place making it a whole different ride

I gave up on Sidi after 3 soles delaminated and sidi wouldn’t warranty it anymore. Gaerne SG12 is way more comfy. But a bit heavier. No failures with SG12.

You’ll love the sg12 only con is the water gets in the sole quick if you do a water crossing or step in water besides that I prefer the sg12 over Sidi

I'd recommend getting the soles redone on the Sidi's so you have a pair of backup boots.
Does the new boots have a hinged ankle?

The Gaerne has a similar safety function that limits the amount of flex like the SIDI does. It set up different but basically does the same. Its covered so you can’t see the hinge like on the SIDI. The Gaerne also used the back heel plate to prevent plantar flexion.

I came from SIDI just like you. I bought the SG12 and Forma Predator 2.0. SIDI is the most comfortable but the buckles suck. It’s so hard to lock them . The SG12 has the best buckle design and easier to operate. But they put too much pressure on my right ankle. It’s also bulky. The Forma Predator 2.0 is almost the same as the SIDI with way better buckles. My SIDI lasted 18 years! But I hate the SIDI buckles.
