  • The adrenaline pumping world of police foot pursuits! K9 isn't always available, which means sometimes officers have no choice but to chase suspects on foot. I mean, it's part of why there's a physical test before getting hired which includes running and hopping over a barrier.
So many stories, so little time.

Thank you, Mr. Randy, for another interesting work story. We want to hear more. I have a question: when you were newly hired, did you make some mistakes? If yes, how and what happened afterward? Because every newly hired person makes mistakes at their new jobs.
That's why the police force has PREP to catch suspects on foot. Every candidate must fit into policing.

The Rarámuri or Tarahumara are a group of Indigenous people of the Americas living in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. They are renowned for their long-distance running ability.

Interesting story!! In situations like that i think It would be best to get the individual under control and removed from everybody else as quickly as possible. It's always good when the calvary is coming over the hill. 😊

One thing about being a cop, you can't give up the chase. You have to go til the end. You have to finish the story, whether is ends in the field or in court.

Encourages all police officers to keep fit. I have watched a few videos on fitness tests for recruits. I should strive for a little bit of it.😊

Wow! That was more of an obstacle course that the suspect lead you on. So glad that the bus driver saw you and waited. It was a bonus that the 2 officers from an other police force backed you up. It was very nice that the person who got mad at you apologized. I guess the suspect was vying for an ACTRA award. lol

My first thought as a civilian would be “why would a police officer chase after someone if they were not being chased for a reason, hummmmm- obviously 🙄 dah, who wants to run after anyone if they are not a suspect for a reason 😮think about that 😮before you judge the situation. Sorry for the rant again 😊

That's crazy you took abuse for making an arrest. People judging after they've seen five seconds of action when you've been on the scene for a few minutes.

People seem to make assumptions, either pro or con, without knowing the facts. Like you see a car stopped at a light and the driver waves to the guy standing on the corner. The guy on the corner waves back and approaches the car and leans into the open window. Your passenger says, I hope the driver is paying attention to the light and we don't get hung up here while they chat. I laughed. My friend asked what was so funny. I had to inform them that the guy on the corner is there every Friday when office workers head home from work for the weekend. They just looked at me with a quizzical look. Ummm...that "friend" is a dealer. You make eye contact and wave him over, and he'll be your friend, too. Same corner, same people, and one took it as a totally innocent event. It wasn't.

Foot pursuits are another story all together. Some criminals can be way fitter than our police officers!! Truth be told, some criminals DON'T get the message and know the system all too well through lawyers, cases and so forth.
I feel police should let the unit know that suspect is being sought and back up is needed. I wonder of there is some technology that alerts cops of suspects in the area and any attempt to apprehend them in the vicinity.
Officer Arsenault, you are so lucky that day other police officers were there to assist you. I feel.there should an app on the cell phones of cops to have a picture and description in the event a suspect is at large. Some short hand is enough for the cops to understand: a+d = armed and dangerous. ppc = possible psychiatric condition, tahr = tasers and handguns ready. I could go on and on on the short hand but you get the picture.

This is one of many reasons why Toronto seems to be fallen. The community is way too soft and will do anything to defend criminals.
In my city (Western Canada) people almost always help out. Two incidence come to my mind where I had to use force to arrest a subject in front of a large crowd.
One was downtown in the middle of the day right next to a bus terminal. Me and my partner had to wrestle a guy to the ground. He had a pair of scissors in his hand that he refused to let go of. So, I had to give him a knee strike. To bystanders the subject probably looked like he fell under the mental health act, however, he was just tweaking. The only thing I heard from the bystanders was one guy saying 'phuck him up!' (I didn't, lol)
The second time was outside of a bar at closing time. Some intoxicated young guy who was trying to impress a group of girls attempted to grabbed my baton. I was able take him get him to the ground into a prone handcuffing position with relative ease. I was nervous because the group was all young intoxicated college kids. The only thing the crowd said was 'tase him!'
I ended up letting him leave with his sober friend because getting taken to the snow cover ground in front of a group of girls is probably punishment enough, lol. Besides he was clearly trying to be funny, and was too drunk to know how stupid his joke was.
Hopefully Toronto gets it together. The city seems to be falling apart at the seams. Sad as it was called ' Toronto the good'.
