There's always a high inherit risk with high-speed pursuits. However if you make them illegal the bad guy will know this and real chaos starts. Usually a communications sergeant monitors it and will call it off if it gets really bad. Or the officer has the option to terminate the pursuit.
Great points, I appreciate the input ✌🏼
Depends on the situation
Once the chase gets dangerous know when to call it off
Always appreciate the work done by Officers ❤ and by getting such vehicle off the road one usually finds them worthy of the chase
Great topic Thank you
Thank you as well.
You made some very valid points!!! So many different scenarios hopefully the officer pursuing can make a good judgment call at the time 😬
Thank you!
Sir you’re the most helpful law & informative channel on RUclips❤
Prophetic words Randall, concerning recent incident where an infant and both grandparents were killed. Absolutely unnecessary pursuit, even through the wrong direction on the highway. Sometimes adrenaline overtakes brain.
Thank you for watching and the input 🙏🏼
Thank you for making video on useful content one by one
Thank you!
One of the most important video about police chase this can happen any time and anywhere and take someone innocent persons life
You make a great point! Hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands dollars worth of property damage plus the high cost of life alerting injuries or even worse, death.. It's a judgement call like you say, and in most instances here in Canada they are called off. Thanks for your viewpoint....makes a lot of sense.
Thank you for the input as well ✌🏼
Another great video and topic 👍
Thank you, John
Very informative Randy! Meegwetch!
Thank you as well! As always 🙏🏼
This was a hard post to listen to, my neighbour lost her sister in a police chase few years back. Suspect ran a stop sign and she was killed. We still don’t know why she wasn’t wearing her seat belt while driving and not sure if she would have survived the crash if she was, but, either way sometimes the cops need to get the criminals off the streets. I was told that the police had already pulled of the chase to person had no intention of stopping 😢
Such a shame, and I’m sorry to hear that, truly.
Thank you for highlighting that the stats are from the US. While the countries are no doubt similar I would be curious to see how much Canada differs in this area being a much less populous and critically much less dense country overall. Even within Ontario, a vehicle chase along the Trans-Canada highway in Marathon is just not comparable to a chase along Younge Street in Toronto. While it may be tempting for admin to outright ban vehicle pursuits this is just as extreme and unfitting as a vehicle chase for a minor non-violent offense. As many other comments have pointed out removing police action and consequence encourages this behavior. Ultimately, as with most things in policing I feel it comes down to an officer's discretion in the moment by situation as no circumstance is identical. The question then being do trust the people you hired to make good choices for themselves.
I can do that! Thank you for suggesting.
Your wise. Thanks
Some would say otherwise! I appreciate the input 🙏🏼
Timing of this video couldn't be better. What are your thoughts on the 401 fatality recently?
Terrible and unnecessary. Such a tragic shame.

Good day Randall 👮💙✌❤✌
💢 100% safety first . Assess situation , decision @ discretion of party. Follow procedure .There's always possibility of collateral damages, ( ppl & property).
Tough lick , glad the choice lays in their hands. 💢
Thanks for the input.
They sell gadget that is magnetic so probably if they can put a magnetic in the vehicle and they can track the vehicle
Whether pursuits are worth it depends on various factors, including the severity of the crime, the level of danger posed by the suspect, and the potential risks to public safety. Law enforcement agencies must carefully evaluate each situation to determine the appropriate course of action.
Agreed, thanks 🙏🏼
I watch a pursuit Omg one guy still drive with tires blown up .. they should increase the penalty if caught driving reckless etc etc
The real question. Are police car still made to do car chases. With civilian vehicules getting bigger, heavier, and more powerful, with all electronic ''gismos'' and stuff, on paper the performance are pretty much equal. Of course, the drivers makes it all
That’s for sure, many police vehicles simply aren’t made to chase.
I'm going to take the engineering approach, and say a quick cost benefit analysis has to be done. What is the likelihood of innocent human loss by the individual. Low risk, the pace should not take place, high risk, the pace should continue.
Of course this is an empirical approach as we cannot predict the future, but an armed suspect should take priority over a minor offence.
I like the approach, and thanks for the input 👍🏼
If you stop pursuing them via vehicle they will slow down you can track them in helicopter they will eventually go home etc etc
There is not a perfect answer for this one. No matter what decision is made in any given situation, it can lead to an unfortunate outcome. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. I think these days the decision to end a pursuit is becoming far more common. Maybe a good thing??? Not always though.
For sure, and thank you for the input 🙏🏼
I think if you say no to pursuits you need an alternative. Drone or itgerwise
For sure 👍🏼
I think they need to invent gadgets that is magnetic and trace a vehicle .. if the person get out of vehicle the dog can track etc etc
Not all thoughts can be shared.
Some thoughts are kosher
I just can’t see what would make a pursuit worth the probability of innocent people getting injured or killed.
I appreciate the input.
We have camera in every light so they can be track plus helicopter 🚁
Do police videos get taken down?
Sometimes they do. Anyone can have their videos taken down
@@OfficerArsenault how can a cow cause a bigger problem than a pitbull?

Police pursuits are the most dangerous on all levels. I feel if an officer needs helicopter, it's there! Have it in all police stations and have the cop trained in flying the helicopter.
The criminal should be sentenced a lot longer than what the Criminal Code proposes. Car pursuits have so many charges attached.
The cars the cops use should be at max 300 km/hr to keep up with the pursuit and also have the cop wear it as an earpiece.
Anyhow, civilians can get involved provided that have previous experience. If the civilian by chance stops the pursuit safely, citizen citation and police recognition is in order. May one day they'll be a police officer....
Hanks for the input, you made great points!
Police need to make the judgement call if the pursuit is worth it. Robbers or armed robbers should be pursued. Known violent offender, yes. Petty HTA violations such as speeding, no. There are too many to list. Police have the subject matter expertise to make the call and use their judgment. It's best to let them decide. It's always the innocent who suffer.
Police should have more helicopters at their disposal to follow the suspects. We'll worth the money.
Some people think Police want a chase. I don't believe that for a second. They would rather you pull over immediately then have the headache of a chase. Not to mention the paperwork.
I agree with the points and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thank you!
@@OfficerArsenaultMay I suggest a video on how people should actually pull over for police and how to behave? I mean, pull over immediately, how to behave with the officer, keep hands visible, don't step out of your car unless instructed, don't make sudden movements, etc? I think it would be useful to citizens and perhaps improve safety for both parties. Thank you for the great content!
The criminal is hundred 100 fault if they cause accident while they flee and speeding .. .. pursuit .. why doesn’t the criminal stop .. why doesn’t the criminal go to jail forever for killing while speeding ..

This ain't easy
As a former Police Officer, It is not the Officer that stats the pursuit/Chase are started the person who has no concern, no respect, about LAWS and those around them. He or she should be stopped.
I do not agree. Takl to someone who has been attached. robbed, shot and leave the seen of the officer and the Police do not try to append the subject. That's who is hurt. Your points are crap.
What’s dumb example, right over your head. I’m not saying never but, imagine thinking it’s okay to chase through school zone and kids get hurt because someone was robbed. Your points are crap as well.
@@OfficerArsenault I don't see any head here.
U guys don't do crap vehicle theft at an all time high people doing 160kmh on the 401 regularly, instead of making videos go do what you're actually supposed to do
Such a dumb and uneducated comment
@OfficerArsenault sure bud whatever makes u sleep at peace most of u guys don't even know the laws, actually most of you are not college educated, it's actually a clown show
@@benchillwell7498 The argument could be made that a college education is not the metric by which whether to hire or not hire a police applicant should be made.
Certainly folks from impoverished neighbourhoods - where they are certain to see a higher police presence, have lower rates of college education then folks that live in more affluent areas. Does that mean that police services should only hire wealthy folks to police the more impoverished?
If you think formal education is the most important thing in a police applicants resume then you do not understand community policing.
It is not an ugly truth. It is absolutely necessary to apprehend criminals and protect the community. The premise of law enforcement is to uphold the law and CATCH violators.
Innocent people dying is an ugly truth which happens too often. Don’t know if you watched or all but I articulated your point.
