Exactly my thought. My personal top 10 movies ever made and easily the best Bond film. The film is quintessential Bond, incorporating all the classic tropes without making any of it feel cliche. Saving the Bond score until the very end is just a masterstroke as well.
Casino Royale is my number one favourite film of all time , remains to be seen if NTTD will still hold up but for now it's essential comfort food viewing
I like the little touch that Vesper is the one responsible for the classic Bond look. These little touches about the Bond mythos that make the movie stand out as an origin story.
These small quippy moments are what made Casino Royale feel so epic but also so intimate. The two characters casually preparing themselves before a high stake game.
No there is nothing “epic” about this, every male under age 40 uses that word, and they need to stop. Please stop using that word, it’s just good writing, and a good movie that’s all.

1:07 This was such an iconic moment. The music was perfect timing as well. I remember thinking to myself the moment I saw this scene that Daniel Craig is James Bond.
The background score is brilliantly compliment the scene.. it creates a sense of confidence and wow factor when bond wore that jacket and look himself into the mirror.

Yep, everything was done right in this film, action, chase scenes, acting, script, camerawork, bonds charisma and brutal fights, the chemistry and the amazing car, everything was perfect!
I do love this film and it comes 2nd in my favourite one of all time, Skyfall comes 3rd but for me it's Goldeneye. The plot is straight forward, Pierce is less dark and cracks some good jokes and I feel like the gravatas of Sean bean as the villain along with Boris shouting "I am invincible" is quite funny and a foreshadowing of the end of the film
Notice the difference between her fake smile after she says "I'll do my best" (which she immediately drops when Bond leaves the room) and the genuine one after "I sized you up the moment we met".
Such a shrewd choice, involving Vesper in a key part of the Bond iconography really elevated her character - she gave him his first tux - he says he has a dinner jacket, but this is his first “mission tux”
love the soft notes of her theme playing in the background at the beginning of this scene. possibly my favorite soundtrack song in the entire craig movies
@guzgonzalez6982 I thought Skyfall was okay but hugely overrated. I thought Spectre was utter trash, arguably even worse than QOS. I hated Spectre so much that I didn't even bother watching No Time to Die, especially since that movie is basically a direct sequel to Spectre.

The chemistry between Eva Green and Daniel Craig was so much better than Léa Seydoux and Craig. That was always one of my biggest issues with Spectre: their relationship just didn't work. They fixed it somewhat in No Time To Die, but I still felt Léa Seydoux was miscast. She's an amazing actress; I just didn't think she fit that particular role.
Bond and Madeleine worked for me for the tragic bittersweet love story , don't think Lea gets enough credit , Madeleine broke my heart several times in NTTD, daughter of an assassin and betrayed by the man who'd sworn to protect her
There is a reason why bond never got over vesper… it’s cause he always knew she really loved him but got mixed up with spectre and hence had to do what she could but at the end she gave her life up so as bond cannot be bothered by atleast her betrayal.
I happened to wear my first dinner jacket a few years after this movie and I have always made it a routine to adjust my cuff with the same iconic twirl of the wrist as Bond. That's when I tell myself - I'm ready. . Men should take notice - Craig wears the tux perfectly in this scene - correct level of cuff exposure, correct position of the buttons above the waist, correct number of buttons worn etc. Everything about that moment is perfect. And I've got compliments galore copying his style in fashion. Other Bonds may be comparable in other aspects or even better, but Craig is nonpareil as the best dressed Bond.

I've never seen a movie go so far out of its way to talk about clothes. Bond's wardrobe over the course of the movie is IMPORTANT, as it shows him becoming 007.

I have always love this film because it shows the evolution of James Bond to 007. At the beginning he's not double 0, makes mistakes that almost got him fired, doesn't dress well, until he gets his first significant assignment and meets Vesper. At the end of the film, his transition is complete, he truly is James Bond 007 and it ends with the main Bond theme. Absolutely perfect!
Yup! This is the scene that came to mind when I had on my Tux Rental from Men’s Wearhouse. 🤣 I even bought a bottle of Bollinger La Grande Annee to complete the look and feel.

It is one of the most memorable scenes in my mind ever! I loved it as a kid and love it even more now.

In Europe what Americans call a tux (black) is referred to as a dinner jacket. In America a dinner jacket is typically a white tuxedo style jacket

The lighting and the minimalist makeup make Vesper in this scene more beautiful than Vesper in the rest of the movie.
