What a way to end a century with a 007 movie like this: Brosnan, Dench, Coltrane, Marceau, Carlyle and others truly excel in this masterpiece of a movie!.
I like that Sophie Marceau wasn't typecast. She played such a sweet woman in Braveheart and was entrusted to play this duplicitous wicked woman in this movie. I like it when an actor doesn't just play the same character every time.
1:18 - 1:24 "There's no point in living if you can't feel alive". That's why Bond falls in love with Elektra. He sees her as strong and rational, instead of someone who constantly needs comfort.
But I think he was also attracted to the flashes of vulnerability she had shown. The panic attack after the skii scene being the prime example. I think that's the moment things really shift for him.
Actually, I think the same than you. But, at one point, I'm not so sure. At the beginning, when Bond do some research about Elektra (access denied), and he saw the video when she said "He was screaming... All the time". He stopped the video when a tear was one Elektra's face. Maybe, at this time, he's started to fell in love with her. (Sorry if these explications are not clear, I'm French... 👉👈😅)
I feel that Bond Saw in Elektra himself. Both had a similar experiences. Been betrayed, left alone, have to be strong, been alone. Even in the end, he did try to save her, because he knows how easily the dark path can be follow. Thats why he gives her a merciful death and goes at her. She is a tragic villain created by the circunstances of life. Unlike other villains that just want the world domination just for the sake. Well in the novel, Elektra drowns in her blood, after all James did miss her heart. But he stays with her till the end. He doesnt want her to feel alone anymore.
It was several years before Robbie Coltrane played hagrid but he known to Bond fans like my self for playing Russian mob boss Valentin in Bond film in Goldeneye in 95 and reprising the role The World Is Not Enough in 99 before playing landing the role of Hagrid to star in first Harry Potter film in 2001. I know the Harry Potter films but wasn’t a fan of them like I am the Bond films.

Sophie Marceau = One of the most beautiful women in the 007 film franchise's history. I like that stunning shot of Sophie Marceau when she says "There's no point in feeling if you can't feel alive" at 1:21 so seductive.
Very true. Some women can be cute, some can be pretty, but not all of them have that appearance that can make you fall in love with them immediately. Sophie had that look! I'm not the biggest fan of TWINE, but she was the best element of it, along with Pierce.

Best bond. Both games AND movies! Incredible! THIS is the bond I’d want to be. Daniel is cool, but more of a action hero Jason borne then a spy like bond.
Yes and he's too bland to be bond. I call him m bond wannabe or bond imposter. Unless the whole world pretends that he has brown hair like roger Moore 😳
IMO in Brosnan's era the evil Bond girls overshadowed the good ones. Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye, Elektra King in The World Is Not Enough, and Miranda Frost in Die Another Day.. because there wasn't an evil Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Die and Wai Lin was badass. Natalya and Jinx were at least decent, Christmas Jones was terrible, perhaps one of the worst Bond girls I've watched.
"This is a game I can't afford to play"... they never say Tracy's name but I think Bond was thinking of another beautiful young woman he once saw lose a small fortune at cards long ago...
Although I don’t rate this movie very highly, it is interesting in the sense that (a) one of the “Bond Girls” is the actually villain rather than an accessory to the villain and (b) Bond has a far more intense relationship with her that he does other Bond girls. Elektra definitely presages the Vesper Lind character in Casino Royale.
Brosnan has a great presence and really could have been one of the best Bonds I believe, but the producers paired him with some of the absolute worst scripts, ruining Brosnan's tenure.
