      Yea, you don't see that anymore in the Daniel Craig movies. I grew up with Brosnan's Bond, so I'm obviously biased, but the Craig movies just aren't fun anymore. It's all dark and broody and serious. I miss the fun gadgets, the horrible one liner quips, the way Bond just swaggers his way through everything and comes out smelling like roses. New Bond movies went in a different direction, I suppose. Or I'm just wearing rosetinted glasses.

    Fun Fact: Brosnan did a Q&A while watching GoldenEye for the first time since debut night and was talking about the chain run stunt. They asked Pierce if he wanted to do the stunt to which he said yes. When he was being set up he said there was ambulances and fire control all over the set and as soon as he though "This was a bad idea." The rig went and he was in for the ride. He got some minor burns from it.

      @@hugodrax71 Yeah, underrated?? Since when? It's one of the worst Bond movies. Horrendous acting, bad writing, awful characters (even ruining Valentin Zukovsky), the plot makes no sense whatsoever... I only ever see people praising this garbage (fitting band choice for the title song too). Goldeneye was the only good Brosnan Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies was okay, this one was awful and the less said about Die Another stupid Day the better. That being said, Daniel Craig's outing in Spectre was the single worst Bond movie ever made. At least Die Another Day is mildly entertaining, whereas Spectre is unwatchably boring and annoying in every way with a perpetually miserable and awkward block of wood as Bond.

    • @hugodrax71
      @hugodrax71 3 года назад

      @@DM-kv9kj Agree - Goldeneye was a very good Bond film, by far the best Brosnan one. TND started well but then got VERY NOISY. I thought Die Another Day took Bond to the edge of the abyss. A shame as Brosnan was a good 007. Spectre was a disappointment. Style over substance. I don't think Mendes could take Bond forward after Skyfall and it showed.

    I will be honest: the guy here who could feel no pain is a great idea for a Bond henchman that would have worked well in the Daniel Craig’s run of the movies. I get that this guy was also a henchman essentially, for Elektra King. Also the Stockholm Syndrome was a great idea, quite disturbing to be honest, but this movie had great ideas.
    But unfortunately, Pierce Brosnan’s Bond was just too unflappable as person. He is calm and cool throughout the series, and makes most men want to be him. He rarely gets emotional except for the assassin he shot for killing his ex and he shoots Elektra point blank despite having had a relationship with her of some sort. If these movies really committed to their ideas fully like having Bond be emotional, we would not have called Goldeneye as the only good Brosnan movie. For example, the fact that Elektra was his lover or the fact that he was tortured by North Korean prisoners or his ex getting murdered or the fact that he changes to a new love interest in every movie makes him seem less relatable as a character. Imagine being in Pierce Brosnan’s shoes… your best friend who is a fellow colleague dies while you can’t do anything about it, later in life you end up meeting that same friend who has become a traitor to your own country and is a secret weapons dealer who intended to do evil shit, you end up killing the guy. In the mean time, you have found a nice Russian girl to date, but for some reason before the second movie, you split paths. Then in the second movie, you find out a top media personality is faking news and misleading people to coax your country into a war (Quite unrealistic tbh, no way any media organization can broadcast fake news and get away with it, right), your ex gets caught in the crosshairs and is killed. You find another woman to date, who is also a fellow spy but things don’t work out. Then in the third one, you are assigned to protect a girl and her father, but the father gets killed by some maniacal terrorist, you end up sleeping with that girl, she ends up being the main villain out to destroy the world and you are left wondering how the fuck did you literally sleep with the enemy. Also before the last movie begins, a father figure of yours dies, as in Q, who you held in great regard and had the utmost respect for. Then the last one where you fail your mission, are tortured by the North Koreans for months, abandoned by MI6 after a botched prisoner transfer and the same North Korean general you thought to have killed has changed himself into a British guy and has infiltrated the upper echelons of the British society to destroy the world again. All that shit would take a toll on someone and I haven’t even mentioned the number of times he nearly dies. That too would fuck you up. I hit a car once when the brakes on my cycle failed and I remember my life flashing before my eyes. For Bond, that is literally his job 24x7.
    James Bond should be spending ten of thousands of pounds on therapy alone apart the fortune he would be spending on vodkas martinis.

    • @SGUnity
      @SGUnity 3 года назад +1

      Yep, no continuity for the Bond girls between movies, no come back for Natalya or Wai Lin, not even mentions, but two interesting comebacks for Jack Wade and Valentin Zukovsky. But after all, like all the previous Bond movies. Nonetheless, Brosnan's Bonds were not meant to be tortured psychological movies at the time, just great action pictures.
      However it will be wrong to say that there is no feeling of pain or emotion for the character at all, like for Trevelyan's reveal as Janus. There's a whole, long scene of dialogue without action devoted to it, the famous "For England James ? No, for me." at the end.
      Same for Elektra King, it's not that easy for James to kill her, but near the end of the movie, with the submarine going to explode, the action can't be stop to explore the tortured character's feelings.
      But I agree for the death of Paris Carver, it's really not a big deal in Tomorrow Never Dies.

    • @Darthzilla99
      @Darthzilla99 2 года назад +2

      To be fair, continuity was not a priority for 007 movies until the Craig era. The Connery and Moore eras were just as guilty when it came to disregard for continuity as the Brosnan era.
