    Hi everyone! Let me what you think about both programs based on this video in the comments below! :)

      Hey Justin, what do you think of these programs now? Thank you.

      Hi Justin, thanks for making this video. I think the variety of trees is well represented in both programs. In my opinion, as a garden and landscape designer, what really matters is the amount of shrubs and perennials on offer.
      One of these programs can really stand out when it has a library of several hundred shrubs and hundreds of perennials. As a result, a garden design with a rich planting plan, for example, can be visualized much more accurately.
      I think Twinmotion 2022 (+'Quixel megascans') is now getting closer to these desirable plant variations.
      What do you think about these developments?

    I have both programs. I like the interface and intuitiveness of Lumion but the actual editing features could be better as compared to some that TM has. Twinmotion is a good program too but I'm not impressed with how it shifts the colors. My renderings either come out kinda blue or yellow tinted. Maybe I just need to play with it more. With Lumion.. the colors and textures are always correct and on point.

    Those few assets like trees in Twinmotion changes with season, I.e they gain or lose leaves and flowers unlike Lumion, making rendered output more realistic and reasonable.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 лет назад

      You can change the colors of the trees using the autumn colors effect, but you're right, the automatic changing with the seasons is a nice feature for Twinmotion - thanks!

    Thanks for an informative video 👍 as a landscape architect I miss a lot of shrubs in lumion library. Can you name some external libraries for lumion? That would be very helpful. Because for now I add some sketchUp 3d plants, but they dont give this motion as those from lumion.

  • @randyaditya8861

    Twinmotion has a feature to add cut out peoples, which is kinda realistic instead of cartoony people from both lumion and twinmotion so you don't need to make much post-productions.
    But on the other hand , vegetation in lumion rendered beautifully and I tried my best to change the lighting to make the trees look better in Twinmotion but in the end, it still looks dull and can't match the Lumion yet.
    I think the major advantage of twinmotion is efficiency. It renders faster than lumion and can give you a decent render that not looks cartoony either

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 лет назад +2

      I believe Lumion has cut-outs in their people library as well...I haven't really noticed a huge difference between Lumion and Twinmotion, but you also have to be fair in your comparison. If your Lumion models have a ton of really detailed trees, and your Twinmotion model doesn't, of course it will be faster. When compared apples to apples, so far I've felt like they're similar, but I suppose your result might depend on your model, too

    • @m-arch
      @m-arch 5 лет назад

      You can easily add custom cut-out objects to Lumion as well.

    Hows the rendering effects, i think thats mostly what gives lumion a seemingly better looking render. They have those hyperlight, shadows or even sketched settings in the effects panel. I havent used twinmotion yet but would like to know whether it has the same thing.

      Sometimes I'd like a gizmo in SketchUp, but I find the inference engine pretty easy to use, plus it's more precise...

    As for cluster placement Lumion doesn't give you an opportunity to control number of items to be placed, their rotation and scale. That's what I personally suffer from. Another disadvantage is that by some reason they have removed control over multiple items randomization...
    In L8 I could set some certain limits of randomization using percentage of scaling, rotation angle and distance of displacement. That was an extremely useful tool. The new version offers you its own random scale / rotation angle which often delivers an unpredictable result. Hope in v10 this option will be back.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 лет назад

      Hmmm...I don't remember this feature changing that much from what was in there before, but maybe I'm just remembering wrong. In any case, it does still give you pretty good control over what you can create. Thanks!

      @m-arch 5 лет назад

      @@TheRenderingEssentials I can't agree with you at his point, sorry. I have been working on mostly landscaping projects for a few months and plants randomization became a pain in my back: some of them become extremely large, some of them are very small. I found that it's much easier to scale them manually, rather using Lumion native algorithm. Same problem with mass-placement (cluster).
      BTW here you can see how it worked before: ruclips.net/video/nFtO-BM7OTQ/видео.html
      Other than that there are many things which need to be improved, of course. However, even now it's one of the best solutions for real-time rendering in the market, IMO.
      Hopefully the official Twinmotion release will push up Lumion team to make their product better in all aspects)

    Wherever the feature advantages may fall, at the end of the day Lumion's renders just look better IMO (it helps that Lumion has HDR lighting and Twinmotion does not). $3400 better, though? That might be a different debate.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 лет назад

      Generally speaking I'm having the same experience - I'm getting better results with Lumion, which I think is in a large part due to the fact that there are so many more settings you can adjust. Twinmotion can also generate a great result though, so I suppose it really depends on budget, use, and about a million other factors...

    I think the assets in Lumion are of higher quality. Look at the difference between people and nature for instance. Lumion wins here, I think.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials

      Thanks for the comment - At the moment, this seems to be the case, though it's almost unfair to compare since Lumion gets you access to all those external libraries that are paid access. Results are results though...

    With Twinmotion I always get the feeling I'm looking at a bloomy and blocky environment. Nothing looks sharp and everything seems off. It really disables the realism.
    I still feel like I'm looking inside a video game wether with Lumion everything feels way more realistic.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials

      I'm hoping to get some more customization tools for the environment in Twinmotion in the next go-round - I think a bit more control over things like the sun location, lighting, etc will go a long way - thanks!

    • @_SG_86
      @_SG_86 4 года назад +1

      No, no, I'm not talking about your settings, I'm talking about the engine itself. The Twinmotion render settings seem very off and bad. The engine is based off UE4, but it looks nothing like UE4 in presentation.
      The quality of the end-math is just superbad. Textures aren't as sharp, gi engine just doesn't cut it with a slider, material adjustments are too simple. Users need to have real world settings to adjust textures the way they want. The AO slider only adjusts the strength but the spread is not adjustable.
