Man, I’ve never seen a tutorial so beautifully done as this one on RUclips! So well edited, clean and organized! Thank you for your time in making this and for making it available to us.
You are clear and straightforward with your content (communication, reasoning, and how the software works). I was glad to click the bell icon on ALL of your videos! Good job, mate. best of luck xD
I love it! I used to work with Cinema 4D, however I'm not a graphic designer, I do this for hobby. Twinmotion gives the opportunity to get amazing rendering and 4k video without spending days on it.
Thank you! And for quixel or any other websites, it's basically the same workflow because you'll need the same types of maps. As for ambient occlusion (AO) maps, you can overlay the AO map on top of the normal Diffuse or Color map in photoshop using the Multiply blend mode and export it then import that into Twinmotion color map.
Thanks, it helps a lot! If I have a brick texture, and with the maps, it has a displacement material, should I use it? I added the color map, the normal map and the roughness map, but I don't know if I have to use the displacement, and where to use it. Thanks 😊
Hello very nice tutorial i have a question and i hope you can help me.. If i have only the texture of a material i want to use can i use the normal map for tile joints for example and put my texture? I try to do it with twinmotion library materials but i fail
Great video as always! I have been using VRAY for both still images and video (via vision but displacement and fur do not show up). TWINMOTION is so cool I will likely use it for videos from now on. I guess I have to build up my poliigon materials again for TWINMOTION? Or is there a shortcut?
Very nice tutorial. It really helped me figure out materials in Twinmotion since I am new to this software. I am running the latest version in 2021 and I am trying to figure out how to export a scene as a stand-alone file that others can open and move freely around the exterior of a house model. I cannot fine any instructions on how to do this anywhere. I know it can be done. Do you happen to have a video on this topic or know how to do this? Thanks!
At this moment, I honestly prefer Lumion. Twinmotion still needs to be improved in some aspects, hopefully their 2020 version will have lots of new features
I have been using/learning the program for a couple of days now and am enjoying it The glaring thing for me is navigation of the screen, it is dowhrìgjt awfull Is it because I have been modelling in SU for years or is twinmotion missing a 'pan" function Twinmotion is missing something when it comes to scene navigation I have used blender, sketchup, 3d max and transition between the scene navigation easily, but not twinmotion I struggle with it
Hm really? When you first launch Twinmotion there's an option to choose the type of navigation. I chose Sketchup navigation so I can navigate just like in Sketchup. It's pretty intuitive actually.
Hi Thanks for the reply. I had it set to SU. Did not realise you had to hit shift when you pan. That made it a bit easier but I have to dissagree navigation is nothing like sketchup in reality. I have been driving twinmtion for a total of anot 12 hours and it is still not intuitive to me. I thought my motor memory would have ajusted by now but ....No.
Does the map resolution affect how the material is rendered in? Contemplating whether to use higher resolution maps(4k) in mapping or not. Thanks for those who can answer this.😁😁😁
Pretty cool video Thanks a lot ! Do you have a tool to navigate into twinmotion or do you simply use the keyboard? Thanks. Is there anyone using something else to navigate into twinmotion (my 3D connexion -space mouse) doesn't work with TM. Any suggestion ?
You mean displacement right? Bump and displacement are different, and since twinmotion doesnt support displacement, you don't see the details on the edges
Hello thanks for the tutorial however im trying to make matirial with holes and the opacity mask doesnt work with my alpha image do you know what could be wrong
Hi, i hope you can help me. I'm looking for option that allows me to change color of grass vegetation (i need white realistic grass). Is there any such possibility or you are limited to the green color.
@@ArchitectureInspirations Well, you can use snow effect, but that will affect other objects. Im trying to create soccer stadium pitch and i need regular green grass and some white border lines made of white painted grass. Thats makes me huge problem.
@@ArchitectureInspirations I dont know how to chnage texture for example. long grass 01. I know how to eidit other materials, but how to edit texures for vegetation adn landscape i have no idea. Im not even sure is it allowed such option.
First video I’ve watched of yours - very clear and informative! Question: do you have a video that explains how to control materials when bringing in a model from SketchUp (or even Rhino > SketchUp > TM)? Whenever I import a .skp, it fuses everything into one material and I can’t specifically select or change exact materials - the whole thing just turns one material. You have a video for this, or thoughts?
Use the apply to object option in TM, instead of apply material (this is the default action). It’s the leftmost option in the toolbar (two overlapping circles - click on the icon and select the option with the single circle icon). You’ll be able to replace individual instances of the material on specific objects instead of replacing all instances. Alternately, paint individual objects different colours in sketchup, and then replace the materials in TM.
That's true, it'd be useful to have an invert button for maps like reflection/gloss etc. But for normal map you have to photoshop it to invert the Green/Y Channel
Great video...you are going way too fast to follow or keep up with notes had to rewind numerous time. This is exactly what I have been looking, thank you.
Architecture Inspirations i know, that you can download from all sites, they are OpenGl, they should develop an inverter in which just a click is needed

That's great! Glad I could help 😄
Super helpful, twinmotion looks so promising
Thank you! Yeah hopefully the new version is even better😄
Architecture Inspirations is the new version free or not?
It is if you have an account for Twinmotion in 2019. Try the download link 😊
Thank for explain every type of maps. It's helpful with me.
Glad I could help!
Yo thank you so much! This was amazing. Twinmotion likes to hide advanced settings behind menus to make things seem simple!

twin motion or lumion? which to prefer

Is there a way to fix the bump issue without using photoshop?
Can you position materials in twinmotion?
Yes you can!
Thank you, can you do a similar video for Lumion?
I have 😊 you can check my playlist
@@ArchitectureInspirations Can you refer me to it am kinda lost in your list trying to find it
Does the map resolution affect how the material is rendered in? Contemplating whether to use higher resolution maps(4k) in mapping or not. Thanks for those who can answer this.😁😁😁
Yes it does but depends if your render is close up or not. If the material is farther away then it doesn't matter
@@ArchitectureInspirations Thanks!! Honestly didn't expect you'd be the one to respond. Love your content man.
cool thx 👍🏻
You're welcome!
Currently I just use keyboard and mouse. I have a 3dmouse but haven't tried it yet
Can I use materials from this website for v-ray
how about displacement maps..is twinmotion support it?
isnt there roughness/glossiness controller by default alongside the reflectivity?
Yes, but it's more realistic if you use a map
Hey Minh, can we add surface imperfections with Twinmotion?
Hm I'm not sure you can. In 2020 there's a grunge settings but that's the closest thing to surface imperfections
thanks for the video !
Can you share your basic user library for twinmotion ?
Sorry I cannot, but you can download materials from websites like Poliigon and try it yourself
more Twinmotion tutorial please :
is the map used in twinmotion same as vray materials?
Hi if only use displace map. which can replace all bump normal reflect map?? if displacemap is made with accuration
Hm not really. You can use it to fake it but that's not how it's supposed to be used
can u create realistic render for this twinmotion
Yes you can😊
Is there a website to download materials that already have the normal maps in DirectX so to avoid the step of adjusting it in Photoshop???
Usually sites for Unreal Engine already have maps in DirectX
Super tanks
You're very welcome!
why there is no bump on edges?
bc on preview in quixel or poligone we can see deatils on the edge of spheres
You mean displacement right? Bump and displacement are different, and since twinmotion doesnt support displacement, you don't see the details on the edges

thank you anyway i really like you'r videos keep it up🤙

Hi, i hope you can help me. I'm looking for option that allows me to change color of grass vegetation (i need white realistic grass). Is there any such possibility or you are limited to the green color.

@@ArchitectureInspirations Well, you can use snow effect, but that will affect other objects. Im trying to create soccer stadium pitch and i need regular green grass and some white border lines made of white painted grass. Thats makes me huge problem.
Oh in that case you can edit the texture map in photoshop and load it in manually

how do we transfer the custom materials from one user to another?
You can copy the user library in the documents folder😊
@@ArchitectureInspirations OH! okay, that's the only option? can export materials like in lumion?
Yeah you can basically add it to the library to reuse it on your own computer or on another
获益良多 谢谢
How do l make a duplicate like repeat
How do l make the door open
Repeat what?
You cant make a door open in Twinmotion yet. There will be future updates that let you do that

Hm not sure why you'd have that issue. Any materials from sketchup should transfer just fine. You can even use the direct link plugin
When you import your .skp you should choose the option >keep hierarchy
Looks so complicated but lets try

@@ArchitectureInspirations is something i have to keep in mind! thnx!!!
First 😀
Hi All,
Just to let you know that Epic users get free access to Quixel where there are sooooo many textures and assets.
Yeah I covered this in a separate video
Thanks for tutorial, So every Twinmotion user needs a photoshop too! instead of a button to revers the map!
very lazy developers
That's true, it'd be useful to have an invert button for maps like reflection/gloss etc. But for normal map you have to photoshop it to invert the Green/Y Channel
true, but as a CGI artist you must be living under a rock to not have access to adobe suite
i don't understend why my reflection is different,
or rather, there is no reflection, both with texture and without texture. there is no difference
Great video...you are going way too fast to follow or keep up with notes had to rewind numerous time. This is exactly what I have been looking, thank you.
Why -y normal map ? All the world use +y 🤦🏻♂️
Unreal and Unity use -y I think. But yeah I was surprised too😂
Architecture Inspirations i know, that you can download from all sites, they are OpenGl, they should develop an inverter in which just a click is needed
Same. It's kinda troublesome to do it ourselves. Some users don't even know the difference
