    Hi
I have picked up this car as a non runner!
The car would crank, but would not start!
A quick scan, revealed that the BSI seemed to be blank!!!!
Follow me on this video, to find out how I got to that conclusion, and how to resolve this problem...
Watch this video, where I take the programing a bit more into detail...

I was particularly interested in the start of this video. Just from looking at the 307 I also expected it to be a 307 VAN (not CAN). If you look at the time line at 7.33 it conforms that it is a 307 VAN. On this model the VAN diagnostic bus connects directly to the engine ECU. The BSI and ABS are connected to the engine ECU via a CAN bus but the diagnostic connector also has some other VAN bus connections to the ABS and BSI which the PSA Lexia 3 tool uses so even if the CAN bus is faulty the diagnostic tool can still see those devices.
I suspect the reason the MaxiScan tool couldn’t find the right engine ECU is because 307 CAN was chosen instead of 307 VAN. The interesting thing is as soon at the VIN was entered the MaxiScan tool knew the car was a 307 VAN.

As you know ther are many ways of do this kinds of jobs, but some days ago I change the ECU in a peugeot and I also get the code from de old ECU but to match the "new" ECU, the pp2000 let change the pin in the 2nd hand ECU. So, you dont need to open the "new" ecu to write the same pin code.In the main menu of pp2000, select spare part, and follow the steps. Its just info for everyone who need it.

At home we have French cars, and they have not given electrical problems ... My 2002 Xsara with BSI, COM2000, has 136,000 miles, nothing electrical has ever been damaged, the ECU is the original, the injectors are original, and my ECU is a Siemens SID801 just like the 307, and I also saw an Xsara with the same injection engine, with 372,000 miles.
Toyota is also not spared from breakdowns, because its 2.2 engines, for example the cylinder liners move and allow the antifreeze to enter, the Denso injectors tend to destroy the pistons, the electrical contactors of the rav4 windows that can cause fires, the famous failure of the pedalgate, the takata airbags that shoot shrapnel.
      www.caranddriver.com/news/a30997060/2020-toyota-recall-camry-avalon-rav4-engine-cracks/
I'm not saying that toyota makes bad cars, but they're not perfect ...
At home we also have a Mitsubishi Outlander, had its manufacturing defects, the original wiper motor could cause a fire, the bluetooth has never worked well.
People greatly overvalue the Japanese as well as the German vehicles as the most reliable, when it is not. Yes, they can make good cars, but the reality is that all manufacturers have their good models. But like all cars, models that are not perfect may come out, and it may suffer the same breakdowns as a French vehicle.
And the electronic components that the French usually use are the same as those of a Japanese, it can contain Japanese capacitors, chips manufactured by United State companies, etc...

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  5 лет назад +2

There is not a lot to say about Virginize/reset...
A BSI, once programmed to a vehicle, can not be programmed to another car.
The virginize process, is basically blank the ecu to a brand new state, so you can program it again to a different car...
      ruclips.net/video/nXoUz-ejRtI/видео.html
IMMO off is a different matter... and is usually done on the engine ecu, which by the way, also needs to be virginized in order to be programmed to a different car...
      But different makers different procedures...
      Hope that helps.

    1. If you have a faulty ECU you need to take the code from the BSI and if you have the faulty BSI you need to take the code from the ECU?
    2. If someone changed BSI, ECU, Keys and Remotes as a set the dealer option is no longer available as the parts come from another vehicle?
    3. What happens with the transponder and the remotes when you use the BSI from another vehicle and virginise it. I mean can you reuse the old transponder and old remotes and program them to the virginised BSI from another vehicle?

@@LMAutoRepairs Thank you for your replies, If you need new transponders and new remotes all together with new BSI (old virginised BSI) would it be possible to take transponders and remotes from the same car we're taking the BSI from or they have to be brand new? (New BSI won't accept old keys but new virginised BSI should be happy with programming the old pair taken from the same car? Hi
So, if you are going to replace the cluster, with a second hand one, you have two options...
      1. Get a cluster with less miles than your car has... and once you plug it in, the miles from then BSI will be written into the cluster...
      2. If you get a cluster with more miles, either reset it to 0 or put the correct miles from your car...
DON'T PLUG IT IN... as the car will adjust the mileage from the highest one... so in that case, the BSI will adjust to the cluster...
      Hope that makes sense...

Thanks to LM for his excellent videos. I am using a Planet 2000 that comes with a recent Diagbox and I had to do things differently to get the BSI working. I tried to configuring the BSI through the "ecu configuration and Services". I configured the VIN all the ECUs present on the 307 but couldn't get past entering the PIN code to do the key programming. Planet said the BSI was blank and should be programmed. After some searching I followed a suggestion on another site to select "replacement Parts" rather than "ecu configuration and Services" and choose the option to configure a replacement BSI. It remembered the VIN I had previously entered and I had to overtype a few of the characters so it could be saved and it then asked for the PIN which it also saved away. After that, the BSI it was unblanked and it all worked like clockwork.

    Hi,
I'm planning to perform a ECM swap, my car is peugeot 308 2008 1.6Hdi 90hp, ECM EDC16C34. I found the same full part number on a donor car, my question for you is: will the car start with the "new" ECM if I do a EEPROM swap(part no 95160) from my ECM to the donor ECM? What about BSI coding? I read on some forum that It doesn't work without a BDM cloning, is this right? Unfortunately I don't have a BDM100, but I do have a Lexia3 .

My faulty ECM has a short to VBAT on the analog input of the microcontroller, the input wire for the rail pressure sensor signal measures 5v, hence the P0193 DTC, and car not starts. This was caused by plugging in the wrong connectors(ECM frp connector was connected to the water in diesel sensor, and ECM water in diesel to the frp sensor).
I'm trying to connect to my ecm with Lexia3(Diagbox and PP2000) on the bench via the OBD2 port(wires attached from ECM connector to an OBD connector) but didn't succeeded?

Hi, I have a question, it is a little long winded so please bear with me 🙂 Ok, I have a 2007 Peugeot 307 1.6 hdi 110 BHP estate, when I attempt to start it it will crank over but will not start but when I try again it will start. Sometimes the lights and windscreen wipers will also come on. The key cannot be used for the central locking and the radio cannot be used without the engine running and it has returned to its default French language and the time and date are reset, if I set the time and date the next time I start the car the time and date are reset again. Does this sound like a fault with the BSI, ECU or the fuse box.? Sorry the question was so long but no one has been able to pinpoint this problem and i have had the problem about 4 months now. 🙁 Many thanks for reading this. 👍

    Hi Louis, Great work.
Just wondering why you would not take the easier option of getting the code from the dealer as mentioned and charging the customer. Seems like a complicated way to extract a pin code considering you have to take the BSI out, extract the chip, hook it up to a PC with appropriate software and then reconnect it all.
Also, the code in the eeprom data seems reversed or back to front when compared to the final code you see using the software program. Is there a reason for this ?
What is the difference between 307 VAN 307 CAN ? Does this refer to the communication network ?

This is way out of my lvl. - Have citreon picasso that laid up. Battery needed charge from drainage. Now only noises and clicks from fuse box, dash lights go on and off. Tried bsi reset from RUclips video and nothing change. Needs glowplugs change. I am completely stuck on what to do ?????

@@LMAutoRepairs well all I can say is Apologies! Entirely my fault due to frustration with my situation and fact that I couldn't follow what you were doing..as stated my levels are 'entry' I could never risk trying what you did. Either way I had deleted my incorrect comments ASAP. As I realised it was me and not you anymore than that I couldn't change.

      Fair enough...
We all get frustrated sometimes... but discharging our frustration one someone we don't even know, is not nice...
      Apologies accepted...
First double check that the battery is fully changed... what you are describing still like low battery/voltage...
Check all the fuses you haven't already... and check the ground points you can see... specially the ones on the engine bay...
I would say to try to scan the car...
But check those things first, as is more likely to be something along those lines...

      Hi
It can happen... loose or become corrupted...
It can happen to any car really, but Peugeot and Citroen are quite prone to it..
Mainly due to jump starts (voltage spikes), or low voltages (battery discharge)...

I like Peugeot/Citroen as in general, they're an excellent ROI (return of investment). Practical, cheap to buy, run and maintain, etc.
BUT truth be told the PIN system while increasing the potential safety of the car. In reality, for older cars. Which no one will steal anyway! Its nothing but a royal pain in the rear end!
Thieves are well equipped and quickly bypass the safety PIN. If they have some trouble, well it's not our problem is it?! ;-)
On the other hand the private individual/legitimate owner usually is not so well equipped and takes the punch of all the added complication.
Because we all know that 99.9999% of previous owners, don't have a damn clue where they left the scratch card, with the PIN registration! Grrr!
As an exception, among my Peugeots and Citroens, the small Peugeot 107. Which in reality as we all know is a Toyota! Doesn't have nothing of that. You connect PP2000, set the keys or whatever, as you please and call it a day. ;-)
Well that's life, and that's it for a short rant. LOL 😂
    Be well guys
Luis awesome job as always. ;-)

I've done "contacts cleaning" on older cars in a couple of hours. And I mean an entire car, fuses included!
With sand paper or a hand held wire brush it would mean several hours added on top.

Can you come to me and help me out? Wtf if your BSI is defect, they charge you hundreds of euro’s at a garage and otherwise you have to get rid of the car and just get € 100,- for it. CRAP
Mustn’t be that difficult to just fix it for less money, isn’t it?
I don’t want to throw the car away for € 100,- while this can be fixed, but they charge to much!!!

Search my videos for the BSI...
They can be virginized and reprogrammed to the car...
