    This car was brought to me as a non runner...
    On a first scan, I noticed that I could not communicate with the DDE (Engine ECU)...
    Follow me on this video to find out why was that, and how I fixed it!

    This is why I always prefer my favourite independant 'shed' mechanic instead of some commercial garages. 10 minutes to figure out what a full crew garage couldn't do in days. Great job, love these videos.

      @@LMAutoRepairs I’ve got a e90 325i that I believe has the same issue at first we thought it was the voltage regulator so I had a new alternator put in but the it won’t start. Cranked so I also got a new battery but it’s just won’t start. Scanned with snap on and was getting engine ecu fault code so it now stranded at the garage and I don’t want to keep paying for parts that isn’t fixing the problem.
      Where abouts are you based and how can I get in touch for the job if not can you help identify my options or recommend garage of ecu/ electronics specialist that will take on job or a solution

    Hi Mate, I salute you for your great initiative and patience applied in resolving this issue. You are a STAR. You just diagnosed and explained a replica of my BMW 1 series 118d coupe manual diesel - Crank no Start! This happened over two weeks ago, and yesterday, I had to open the ECU unit and discovered a water log at the bottom, and eventually water had gone into the panel thereby causing it to stop communication. I ordered another ECU from eBay yesterday and it will arrive tomorrow. Though it has to be cloned. But If I'd seen this video before now, I would have taken the chance to do the same. Maybe mine could just possibly need to be cleaned with spirit and allowed to dry. You are just a genius! RESPECT👍

    I had a similar issue on my E46 330xd with the DDE 4.0 (M57 Engine). Water got inside the ECU, i think maybe condensation causes this. No communication with DDE was possible, also the water temperature gauge was at maximum when ignition was turned to on position. It was communicating again after cleaning and treating with hot air, but failed shortly after again. So the easiest solution was to get a working used unit re-programmed. This will cost around 170-250€ in Germany. Greetings from Bavaria and thanks for this helpful video!

Enfim. Uma carga de trabalhos. Fica bem e continuação de bom trabalho. Abraço dos Olivais em Lisboa.

    Have you had an experience with an 2004 BMW 530i that wouldn't start after replacing the battery. When I put the key in the ignition I get the orange key symbol on dash (guessing to show that key is in ignition when door is open) and nothing after that. When I turn the key I don't get any lights at all on the dash and I can't even get the windows to roll up but the radio will turn on and the lights inside. Any suggestions of what to test?

      Hi
      Which battery are we talking about?
      The key battery, or the car battery?
      When you say orange key symbol, what symbol is that exactly?

    You sir, are very good at this. I’ve watched a few of your vids, even the other dme vid twice which was over an hr. I have been struggling with my e90 320i 2007. I was wondering if there is a schematic pcb diagram? Even with that I’m not sure I can fix my issue. Thanks for the great content! 👍

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  3 года назад

      Unfortunately I work blind when repairing this type of stuff... I never managed to find internal schematics for modules like this...
      You need to try to trace it down... if is a multilayer pcb, then things complicate a bit, depending on what type of damage the ecu has...

    Impressive diagnosis of board and repair. Not so confident about how long it will last though when car goes over bumps and gets smashed around. Not taking away from anything you have done as impressive but that DDE module should really be junked.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  5 лет назад +1

      This is my theory...
      If he can't take anothe year out of that DDE, is a year he saves...
      This repair was done about 5/6 months ago... and still going...🤞
      I might have been lucky... have repaired a few of water damaged ECUs... so far, so good... I know will be the day were one will not last a week... lol😋
      Still, if I was not confident with the repair, I would advise 100% replace the module...

    Superb video Subscribed!
    I have a e87 120d 2007 with similar issue. Car ignites but when I try to start the car I get no response, can hear the fuel pump running just like in the video but the car doesn't turn on. There's time where after 5 or 6 times of trying, the car turns on and works perfectly fine, and then there's times where the car doesn't respond at all for hours. I have replaced new battery but the issue still persists. Do you think it is an electrical issue, any faulty fuses or sensors or do you think it is the ECU?
    Please any help would be massively appreciated.

    I have a 335i 2009 n54, and after I replace my injectors and assemble everything back to code the injectors and to my surprise DME is not connecting to my OBD plug, and full pump runs at all times when ignition is on, this might be my solution, thanks a lot.
