- Today on JD Cars we finally resolve the BMW electrical issues by replacing the junction box module (JBE Module). I picked up this module, used, on eBay for just $60 bucks and fixed the major electrical issue BMW was unable to figure out after looking at the car for an entire week! This repair would not have been possible without the help of MyBimmerBrain; thank you very much to him for facilitating all the necessary recoding! Bro .. I want to thank u!!! I was doing a retro cic swap, and I didn't disconnect the battery. 😢. I touched the monitor wires together during the swap. Then bam all hell breaks loose. Wipers turn on full speed, whinnying noise from my firewall, no electronics in the interior. But my car did start. But I couldn't control my headlights from being on. Man I just wanna thank u really 🎉. Did the swap step by step as u the walla. Thumbs up bro

Glove box removal is just 2 torque 20s and a phillips for 4 screws holding onto bracket.

So glad you finally fixed your car, man! But one question remains. What was the culprit that created this defect. Per my knowledge this JBE are not breaking by their own, intead it must be something that created a short circuit.
This happened due to voltage testing behind the dash. It shorted the module.

What electrical issues were you having before? I’m having wipers being stuck.. parking brake light illuminates when driving even tho brakes are brand new and hand brake down.. passenger seated seats don’t stay on.. they turn on them go off. My tach sometimes doesn’t show gas meter. And my Speedo goes from whatever speed I’m driving at than drops to 0 than returns to my current speed. And my rear passenger windows cut out when rolling up or down got hit the button again to continue

What were the initial electrical problems?
The junction box electronics unit detects the following signals and makes them available to other bus users: Power window switch, front passenger door. Power windows switch, right rear door. Power window switch, rear door on driver's side.

My bmw e90(316d)(2009) is showing yellow engine light which come up time to time. I get it checked with ISTA+ unable to communication most gatway.
Unable to communicate to head unit.

Got my sub brother! I own a 2011 328xi. Been having some issues with the Electrical fault error showing up. (The car on the T stand looking icon). I’m hoping it’s just a bad battery but if not I’ll have to dive into the other electronics. Wish me luck!

Where did you send off your ECU and CAS to get tested see if they are working properly or needed replacing? My car is getting some lights on but none on dash nor starting. Window buttons not working nor radio power. Battery is new

I’m looking at a 2007 328XI powers up just fine but when you hit the start button, nothing happens I’m wondering if I don’t have the same problem with that car as you have. I don’t wanna buy it if it’s gonna be a nightmare.

Hi there, my 2011 F10 535i got the similar electrical issues. All in a sudden my windshield wipers will go on and off itself randomly. Then my alarm, locking system, backup camera....etc won't function, I can lock the car but no beep sound, trunk won't open, air conditioning won't blow cold air......etc. I am suspecting is the JBE software error. Can you suggest the company that did the remote coding for you. After I get the part, I definitely need a professional code it for me so the car will back to normal.

I just got a 2003 530i and there’s major electrical issues like the door sensor and coolant low, and it says it needs service on the engine, and check engine lights on, check brake lights, but everything is fine, the car runs great, might even run better then my Honda accord 2007, but for I don’t know what is wrong with the electronics, I’m going to check tomorrow then right down the problems and try and erase them to see if they come back but if they do what will be the issue? Would I have to change the central electronics module?
I’ve currently got a rear light issue where my passenger side back DRL isn’t working could replacing the junction box solve it?
how many miles are on your car now? any other major issues besides from this one ? i have a 2011 328i x drive lci and i am having alot of suspensions and steering issues.

When replacing this module do you have to have the battery disconnected? Also if I pick one up from a used bmw would I have to code it as well?

Hello friend's how are you? I have a BMW 520 2007. About 4 months ago when I start the car the eye browse start flicking 4 to 5 times and then it stops, after 4 weeks it shows on the dashboard that's daytime light on the right hand sideg it doesn't work, I checked it's ok not burned. it stayed the same. 10 days ago I was driving then I heard a banging noise, I stopped tornd the car of waited for a Koppel off minutes then I start the car the noise still there, the radio and the dashboard lights are off and the noise still making coming out of the speakers and it's annoying and all the lights on the left hand side are off. Have you came across this problem or anyone else's that's you know. I will be glad to hear from you. Thank you very much!
My radiator fan won’t work and I have replaced two relays and checked the radiator heat sensor so I ordered a new fan and I was just hoping not to have to deal with that you got any suggestions?

Hey JD, I found your channel trying to figure out why my CCC unit module stop working. I have no power to the CCC unit and no power to the display screen for my idrive. I just recently replaced the a/c heater blower fanin which I needed to remove the the CCC unit but when I reinstalled it. It just stop working. I have a dashboard message symbol SOS crossed out. Any pointer will be helpful at this point before I take it to the Stealership. I live in Boston.

Would happen to know if this module can create interruption in 4*4 system co apparently ECM is not communicating with ECU in my e92 328 xdrive .

Hi I know this is old post. My 2005 BMW 645 with 4.4L and it seems like I also having my JBE fried as well. When you buy your JBE, does it have to be from exact car model or it can come from different E90 with same engine? If yes, I saw a 2005 bmw650, or can I get a JBE from other BMW with 4.4L engine? I know you have been through a lot with your bimmer and it helped save a lot of money for so many bimmer owner just by watching your videos. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance
Hi, I'm not sure what the situation is in your case with the 645. I don't know if the JBE is chassis specific and/or engine specific, but I want to say it's chassis specific. I would recommend trying to find a 645 JBE if you can - it could save you some headaches.

Very practical! Other than towing our boats and hauling lumber I use this car for everything. Even though its RWD it does fantastic in the snow with some good snow tires. I love this car.

People over here in Germany code their amber lights to be the running lights (which btw is illegal here) and you do it the other way around in the US :D

That was a brand new or used jbe?
Did the e90 have comfort access? I have had major problems with the comfort access. I think these jbe get shorted due to water leaking on the windshield seal. My SA showed me the cracked seal. I have most problems after a car wash. It sucks now my doors dont unlock at all accept with a key.
It did have basic comfort access. I had locking issues too. Your JBE may be shorted out.

Can I get a second hand jbe from the same year and model BMW and plug and play?
If car have no power at all it has power connector problem quick check if you’re battery is charged only open a panel under gloves box and it is very hard to see red power cable connected to Fues panel just shake it little bit and you can got power it is recall on some bmw models You can check online (bmw recall) and put your win number

I just searched my year and mode “JBE” on eBay and that was it! It should tell you in the description which years it’s compatible with
05 to 08 fits 08lci to 11 fits because of different canbus signal

I'm trying to look for your old video see what was the electrical issue was but cant find? I'm having issue with the passenger aftermarket hid light would turn on then off. I would have to turn car off again for it to turn on but it does not remain on not sure if the ballast is going or some electrical issue as your?
That sounds like a ballast to me.
What code should I respect when I change it ? Tha H2 code?
So how much did this whole fiasco cost you? How did it happen again? You said something about testing voltage and ambient lights but still didnt get "how" it happened.
In total, it cost me about $450... it happened due to the modules getting a small amount of voltage during testing. It fried them.

dude, have you solved your problem? my car just did the same thing as yours, after bout one or two hours drive, my battery light comes out and slowly shut down my instrument cluster
So what was your display reading before this replacement? Mine says DSC malfunction, DBC malfunction, malfunction in engine, malfunction in transmission and start off assistance off.

Is the jbe plug and play? Can I find one off a donor car? Same year and model and plug it in?
Plug and play to an extent... it still needs to be VIN coded to the car

My fuel gauge, central locking ( the indicators flash and the car powers off but the actuators don't lock), air conditioning(cooling) and wipers do not work (wipers turn on and stop on the middle of the screen), The only code I get is a 5E5B DSC button code and A738 JBE power supply interrupted code. Everything else works. Is it a FRM or the JBE that is faulty?

@@SicSemperBeats I changed the JBE and I managed to get the wipers and fuel gauge working but it did not fix the central locking issue. I guess its because I replaced my JBE with the one that is not identical to the one from the car. Just look for the JBE that is identical to the one in your car.
@@boccamokg1829 Hmm i changed my jbe and got literally no change in my problems. I even coded it to my vin through winkfp and checked through inpa. Did your wipers and gauge just automatically start working after you installed the JBE?
@@SicSemperBeats Yes, before they were not working at all and once I installed the JBE from a 2010 M3 they just started working without any coding or anything. Are you sure the JBE you installed is identical to the one you removed? If its an H3 it has to be an H3 you install and also the production date should match since it seems they changed the arrangement of the relays inside the circuit board

I have a 2008 750Li that will not go into sleep mode the push button light stays on the dvd navigation runs a thumbing sound is coming from the passenger side sub this is causing my battery to drain and I had to replace the ECU which the dealership said it was fried and the have no idea what could be causing these problems
My 2011 328xi had the 215 code for a couple of months. The battery died 2 days ago. I tried jumping the car with a portable charger and upon startup the engine ran incredibly rough, the wipers activated, as did the turn signal. Then the engine sputtered out. I placed the battery on trickle charge overnight and took it to my non-dealer repair shop today for a new battery. On the drive over I had an alert the left front door was open which it was not. New battery installed plus registered. However the shop said there are issues and not sure how deep they should go without my authorization. I picked the car up and the code is ee-231. Currently the interior lights don’t turn on, neither front window switch works, the doors will not lock(pressing the unlock button on the remote or central console produces and actuator sound), there are no instrument cluster lights, the turn signal will not activate, the high beams nor fog lights turn on. That is it so far. Non-working turn signals are my most immediate concern. Thoughts? Not sure if there was a voltage spike when I tried to jump my car before the battery was replaced. This shop has experience with installing BMW batteries.

Any ideas y my drivers door and passengers door doesnt lock and y the sound comin out my idrive system only.sounds ok if i put it to the left sife of the car speakers and not the drivers side i put set it to all speakers the drivers side just pops and crackless ?

I have the same symptoms you have but received a code ( A10A EWS4 Timing response challenge) and was told on a bimmer post this deals with the security system and the CAS and DME don’t communicate. It’s a crank no start with all the windshield wipers and lights and stuff going crazy, what should I do, replace the CAS and DME or this, thanks!
the same happens to me the car is crazy ... hard steering cleans the windshields are activated alone the brake lights are always active ... the abs lights too and much more :(

Also, Preston.. definitely start with cas abs ecu repair/reflash so you can get car started. Than I’d have any electrical malfunction look into jbe and or frm depending what issues ur having

It could! I would check all fuses in your fuse box first

Bmw e90 2006 after ecu clone I've lost power to following issues:
1. No power to the radio and sunroof controls.
2. Not getting cold AC air. The AC (snow flake) button doesn't light up.
3. Remote control will open/lock car door only during the first minute of opening or closing the car door. After the first minute, the car goes to sleep and there is no power available to activate the alarm. If you could help I will appreciate it so much

The JBE was fried due to voltage testing for an interior light install.

Hi JD cars could you tell me where can I buy the new JBD
Before you buy a new junction box you should try putting old one on a radiator for a day or so. The problem with the j b module is if you have had a water leak or didn't know you had one water or moisture can get into the box making the electrics behave weird. You'll find once you've dried it out it will work perfectly. So long as none of the pins are corroded it will be fine and you'll save money buying and coding it. Trust me just like dropping a phone in puddle if you dry it properly it will work again 😊

You can replace it and drive the car but it should be coded ASAP

Im getting a code A0B2 CAS: Supply, terminal 30E/30L . There is no power coming from the main fuse box. I checked the power cable and it does not appear to be damaged liked the ones I have seen on the 3 series. Is it likely that the JBE is failing and causing power issues?
