When removing the old FRM make sure to NOT take the top nut all the way off, just back it off so you can get the FRM out, his makes it WAY easier to get the new one in place.
I left the top screw-in didn't even touch it. The module easily came right out.
Just as well there are programmes that show /tell you when to do it yourself and when to let professionals do the job. Thank you
Friendly FYI for anymore that needs a new FRM footwell module they are warranted for 8 yrs and 150 k miles on e9x cars and other models by BMW .so if ur frm fries on u call the dealer and get a new.one for free!

The recall has been extended to 10 years, I just called my BMW dealership.
I had a bad FRM in my 2011 BMW 328i, and after looking on line for tips, I called the dealership and discovered that part was still under warranty although nothing else is. Check to see if your FRM is still covered before spending money. I bought this car used last year so I didn't know about that warranty.

My front turn signals aren't working on my 2008 E93. Ebay sellers said FRM2 requires coding after fixing module and installing in car but not with FMR3? Can I upgrade FRM2 to FRM 3? Of course FRM2 will still need coding in car with Vin#. What should I do?
I suggest you chk your FRM located left side of driver. immediately behind hood release. Reserve 1 hr for removing it. 2 other panels need to be removed. 1st the plastic of foot panel at entering the vehicle. 2nd panel below steering

I have a 2006 325xi. My reverse lights don’t work and the bulbs are not blown. Iv checked the trunk wire loom and test the ohms from the connector to the wire harness in the back passenger seat and it checks out at 0.2ohms. I wondering if my FRM could be the issue. Every other lights works.

@@colassolorzano6353 Yes i found a place in Florida that will fix and code for $50 .. They fix it the day the receive it and ship it back the same or next day. I sent mine out to them this past monday. Im hoping it will come back ready to go next week.

Damn i wish i lived near u and we was friends i keep getting scammed everywhere my windows havent been able to roll up since july its now october 22 🤦🏼♀️ went to get my clutch changed $2800 later and 6days with no car only to go pick up car and realize windows dont work, signal light not working, interior lights etc. And says “foot module” went while changing my clutch? Not sure
If this is true as everyone just tells me diffent things everywhere i bring it, maybe cuz im a girl they see $$$$$ but so done with it all i jus need one machanic i can TRUST!!!! 😩😩🤦🏼♀️

@@Teestar519 you need to invest in proper diag software! You need ista and inpa at least! Then not even the dealer can fool you. And to be honest it's 2021, with the internet and no real in person dealing it'd much like the usa army slogan..."be all you can be." Everyone's a guru. Haha. Get your own diag software. Saves a lot of time and misdiagnosis.
@@Teestar519 Carly obd will do wonders for you with diagnostic even with those modules, and it’s easy! But if you haven’t solved your FRM issue yet there are places that repairs them you just have to send it to them. Hope this helps !

Many times this is damaged when someone changes the bulbs because it happened to me since my fog was fine and I wanted to put some that illuminate more and when I changed it, it was damaged, honestly, BMW must always have everything original or else anything will be damaged
there is a clicking sound coming from my speakers once i removed the module, wondering if i had to disconnect the battery before removing the module, any thoughts
You had your fiber optic diagnostic plug undone when you removed the lower panel. I know it was 9 months ago but just in case you were wondering why it went away when you put it all back together I figured I would answer that for you!!

Hey. My headlights shut off while driving and sometimes they come back on and work for a while but shut off again.
The communications said to check "lighting system". Is this a fix for that? I don't care to program to upgrade anything, I just want the lights to work.

Take off your trim and look at the sticker on the module. If it says FRM3 on it you can send it to be reset. There are eBay sellers who provide this service anywhere from $50-$140

@@colassolorzano6353 ah okay I'm not sure if it is not the 3. There is an extended warranty for the FRM check to see if you are in it. If not then you can try to buy a used one but I believe you will need to figure out how to code it to your car. I do not know about this part
How do I reset the FRM? I just bought this 06 330i and the reverse lights and tailgate lights don't work. I'm told there's probably a bad wire somewhere and the FRM needs reset. The license plate lights still work though.

@@Teestar519 nope I tried everything and couldn't get it to work. I ended up removing it and sending it to the ecu pros and they fixed it for $200 popped it back in and everything worked. Reverse lights came on and even the inner headlight bulbs turn on now!

@@foolyou7633 thanks damn it's already been 6 months! Yeah I fixed the wires in the boot but reverse lights wouldn't come on because frm module was locked out. Couldn't connect to it so I sent it back to ecu pros and good to go. Thanks for looking out 👍

Wow, the FRM3 module is $600+ dollars!!!
If yours stops working after disconnecting battery terminal or jump start, it's only the flash memory that got corrupted. You can easily reflash the module. Search for FRM3 repair on ebay if you don't want to do it yourself. Or order XProg 5.6 and flash it yourself. That's way cheaper than getting a new one and programming etc.

@@Teestar519 older BMW are known to have this problem. Voltages changes in the system is enough to cause the FRM to go bad. E.g disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Or even cable jumping the car might do it. I am not sure if transmission change will involve any of that.
@@GeorgeChristian-wk4hu you can pay someone on ebay to flash your module. Or if you are technical you can buy a programmer and do that yourself. It's certainly annoying.

hello ty for the video ..i have 2 questions..what size phillips screw goes into the trunk release handle? The shorter or LONGER phillips screw? Also, what is that black square thing sticking out about 2 inches above the trim panel board..it has like a black plastic wirelike looking tie attached..its at bottom LEFt of trim panel panel i dont have any connector for it.

Tim McDill I replaced my battery with a new one, but did not hook up the battery until I put the repaired module in, then connected the new battery, no problems.

After putting in a new module, do you have to re flash or re install the jb4? Because mines is acting up. I get a code saying engine malfunction. I diagnosed the car my hpfp is fine, it’s just saying my boost levels are too low. Should I re backend flash?

Depends how bad your situation actually is. With mine the "comfort features" stopped working. And that's not something u need to drive. But some people the car just went crazy with everything going on and off at the same times so... It depends
Negative ! you should be able to drive 100's of mile w/o the FRM operating. However, non of the auxiliary will turn on. No turn signals, headlights except day running. no windows except moon roof. No interior lamps, welcome lights, no hazard. gas lid won't lock, perhaps no security system all depends but most definitely all of the above. what will continue operating are just basic Air/heat, daytime running lights, radio, seats, gauges, seatbelt notification, viper etc. but at time don't be alarmed if suddenly your windshield wiper have been spooked w/o you doing anything, so can the A/C blower run even after key removed.
So I'm very excited about the angel eyes daytime running lights but I don't have JB4. Do I need it to do this?

Most likely & with probability if you recently have jump started.
INPA is in German. Ugh. If you can read German great. If not, you have to really know what word(s) to look for. As far as setting the halo rings (angel eyes) to run 24/7, Carly is much easier. Reingold is in English.

The video is good only one thing your sending people false information the charger your using will damage modules. why would you use that you should be using a battery voltage stabilizer during programming to maintain proper voltage. WHY?

I've seen this video's section a few times already and I cannot decode what he says and does... :/ I also tried the automated captions, but it says something like "if you have a J before, click the car ... make sure to put it in map zero" and then he shows the buttons...
If you have a JB4 piggy back, then you need to put it in map 0 before you start coding
Much more enjoyable at 1.25x!
No 1.75x is best! I finished in 7 minutes instead of 20min … whole module swapped and re programmed! Great video 😁😆

if you have a fob with key insert. Remove the key pressing tab next to the 2 holes on each side of fab Sit in front of trunk so you are now directly facing licence plate, look to your right where lid of the trunk bends. Underneath the bend is a lock you insert the key pulled out of fob.that is how you open trunk when no power is available.

Call the dealership, ask them for the what it's called and the part number, then search online for the best deal!

@@BMWFanatic hey man I Jumpstart my 2008 328i and put a different battery in it when I went to try and start it it doesn't crank or start the wipers are stuck on the windows don't work the radio doesn't work the seats don't work the only thing that works is the dash lights and the brake lights and the key fob will unlock the doors

@Christopher McCauley, @David Silva, you need to register the new battery so that it knows how many amps to pump thru the car to make all the electrical items to work. A classic example of German Over-engineering.

DL You should most certainly have an FRM2 module. I've coded several 2008's to utilize the FRM2 lighting features.

I thought of replacing my FRM1 with either FRM2 or 3 but honestly BMW went out of their minds thinking I'm going to tear whole driver side just to get this stupid module out

What controls the FRM
How do you tell which frm you need? I was under the impression my 06 330 is a frm2 but the site you list says the frm3 fits my car so now I'm not sure.
You can upgrade to any FRM, just needs programmed. You can check which one that you have with a proper BMW diagnostic scan tool
You wouldn’t have FRM2 unless someone changed it out before or BMW did that for the FRM warranty
