- On the 5th and final day of Diesel Power Challenge 2015, the 10 reader-selected trucks hitch up to the pulling sled in an attempt to haul it as far as possible on a packed down mud track in their final challenge event. Then we wrap-up the weeklong competition by presenting this year’s diesel power champion!
Diesel Power Challenge 2015 is a weeklong torture test that features 7 events, 10 trucks, 8,000hp, and nearly 15,000 lb-ft of torque. We push Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax-powered trucks well beyond their limits in search of the ultimate diesel.

Buck stoneburger always looks high as a kite hahaha
Buck is really enjoying Colorado's new recreational marijuana laws.
+Tpena4 Just a sign of the times, several of them were visibly baked.
ole hucklebuck sucks
That guys name should be Buck Stonerburner, that guy looks and sounds blazed af!
Bahahahahhahahaha
Ethan Gee buck stogieburner
he has a prescription
Ethan Gee looked like opiates to me. pale junkie look
Robert Griffin hahahaha junkies getting defensive too funny
Good job Warren showing them a built 6.0 is tough as anything else! Always loved the sound of the 6.0 but levon Miller's stroked dodge is the best sounding dodge I've ever heard.
Why wasn't the fuel challenge measured in MPG?
Not everyone used the maximum runs on the dyno or ran down the drag strip equal number of times, some didn't even run at all.
Jack I'm sure they figured out a way to compensate.
Crazy thing is the winner of the fuel consumption ran in every event and still blew the others away
larry Spiller Yeah that is one amazing motor.
+Merp that's called efi live...tune it for a million hp for the events, then down to below stock output for highway runs
This is literally the best thing I've ever seen.
Yes
"Buck" Stoneburner... already a living legend!
Lavon Miller spends $20,000 on his truck to win $2,000 in gift cards for parts. This is so stupid.
JAMANB Thats cheap compared to running the baja and they won more than if you run the baja. Some times you do it because you love to do it.
I'm not even really in to diesel trucks or trucks in general but I don't think it is strictly about this competition. You can tell the guy loves it. Just an expensive hobby lol
JAMANB He also does it to build cred for his garage. www.firepunk.com/ Win thing two years in a row? People will notice that you're doing something right.
JAMANB Drag week they spend more then that and get a Jacket so whats your point its called a hobby some idoits buy a boat this guy has a INSANE truck
Why do people spend over 30k for an engine swap and modifications? Because racecar, in this case because MURICA
Clearly Bill doesn't know what he's doing.
Shayne Wolfe But it looks like he had a blast. You know what they say; if you can't be good - be good at it.
trexiL If that's what "they say" - then I am very confused because that makes zero sense. Help me out here...
Shayne Wolfe it means, if you can't be good at something, be good aka. have fun at not being good, meaning just have fun being a part of it
Shayne Wolfe Actually the phrase is, If you're gonna be bad, be good at it. Like politicians are great at being bad, suck at being good. Bill didn't do good like he hoped so that phrase doesn't apply.
If he sabotaged the other trucks to win, now that's good at being bad lol.
Shayne Wolfe I bet you're really fun to hang out with, professor. At least he had fun. There, does that make more sense for you?
How fucking dare I use a common phrase for anything other than its absolute strictest definition.
15:50 that moment when you think you're also gonna get a high 5.
This was very fun! Looking forward to next year already!
LEVON MILLER!!! Congatulations on having the baddest pickup on the planet 2 years running dude!
ROADKILL were is it
Is it today?!?!?
Malachi Malone Yea WTF man i need my Roadkill fix
I NEED MY ROADKILL
I NEED MY FIX, MAN
I NEED IT NOW
GIMME GIMME
September.
I'd like to see the trucks driving from and to each event.
damn we're gonna miss jerry adkins
What degree do you think Buck Stoneburner most likely to have? Nuclear Physics or Philosophy of Renaissance?
saratov99 Blunt Rolling
Buck is a complex fellow a true renaissance man at heart, both fully versed in philosophy, psychology and certainly a through grasp on mechanical engineering. Leans to the Freudian understanding of our most deep thoughts but struggles with the productions and deductions of Witgenstein.
saratov99 Buck is a scholar among rakes, and a rake among scholars.
+saratov99 Gotta give him credit for his truck though, not everybody can build something like that
I loved the series and looked forward to watching each morning.
Very AWESOME Boys! I don't know who owns Diesel Power, but they do a fantastic job. Keep it up, and don't for get us farm boys, and our tractors!
I am disappointed in the MPG test not being done in one run, day etc. I want to know MPG. the reason a lot of people go diesel is for the MPG
17:55 the guy with the nobody cares about your Cummins bro shirt
14 gallons?!?! Haha !
I know man and i honestly hate how hes been there 2 years with nothing to compete. Youd think oh first year ok if hes back he will be with the pack but nope this idiot is the type of guy that gives us all a bad rep with that pointless lift and the pitch black smoke. Makes big numbers for a truck but doesnt perform. Hes a joke really. And hes a Canadian like myself which makes me even more pissed about it because it gives the rest of us a bad image like if we dont know how to tune and run our trucks. He could tune it properly and run better but either he doesnt want to or doesnt know how. Understandably i think this is done at 6000ft from sea level which where i live were about i think between 300 and 500 of sea level but thats no excuse for his shit poor performance.
Cummins power next Nissan Titan
Liemciemdk89 gotta have more than just an engine to be worth a shit
Liemciemdk89 oh barf
Liemciemdk89 Nissan Titan isn't even on the same elevation as a cummings. haha
Cummins is making a v8 diesel for nissan
Christian Thomas well that's badass, but I still won't buy a Nissan truck
To be honest i feel like Chomos or whatever. The fellow Canadian is unfortunately the type of owner of a diesel truck that all those who hate diesel trucks imagine the rest as being. Badly tuned meaning its wasteful and inefficient. I know youll get black smoke but his is really bad i mean even the 90's cummins were burning cleaner than him. Hes also lifted to excessive heights and i dont see why to be honest. Yea a lot lift their trucks for aesthetic purposes and yea it looks decent but overall the way i see him is he wants to brag about the power it makes. Blow pitch black smoke all over the place and ride high as the moon to be intimidating or something but his build is unreliable or hes just afraid to actually run it. He may work in the oil industry or whatever but i guarantee you hes in the office all day because he aint on the rigs for damn sure and im sure if he brings that truck over there he doesnt pull much if anything with it. If he comes back next year he better run the damn thing or else he better stay home because his truck for 2 years now has pretty much been a joke in the competition and i know theres other trucks out there at least over here that could have given some of these guys a really good run. I dont know if they are Miller fast or strong because his build is smart and strong. But a competition is not a show of sitting around doing nothing.
***** most likely. Banks makes quite a good package for them. I dont know if he works on Cummins or Powerstrokes though but ive seen some of his work and although it aint cheap its a beautiful piece. Personally i like the Powerstrokes but ive never driven a cummins and im sure something like Miller's is something i would because ive always liked low end grunt. Everyone likes to brag about top end power and torque but thats easy to make power when your engine is screaming. I like to know if im pulling something heavy il be way ahead of the other guy with a uselessly powerful truck.
Patrick Pelletier Completely agree. His truck is a big joke. It's broken down twice in a row. Shit, last year it didn't even complete the dyno before the bottom end blew up. He needs to swallow his pride and quit already.
ice44567 i agree. But if he shows up again he better have something good. He has absolutely no valid excuse for his shit poor performance both in economy and tests aswell as output. And really he better not show up next year even if he does have just a decent build. He would need something extraordinary to compensate for his ugly showings both years. Hell i dont see why Motortrend even allow him to participate. Im sure there more people showing up to be a part of it but this lazy slob is taking up a lot of room. Its like if someone came to hot rod drag week and had a shit poor build but there were only so many eligible cars to participate and theyd constantly take up space they dont deserve. I respect his ambition if he really has any though because everyone wants a shot at the title. But people such as myself know that we aint got anything to even have a chance against some of these guys. For several reasons whatever they might be. But he doesnt get it.
great group of trucks this year, glad there weren't any major catastrophes. I still wish you would put dodge/ford/chevy as a note beside each owner in the standings list.
Great stuff,enjoyed watching the 4 days .
This is like Curling to me. I wouldn't say i'm a fan but i can't stop watching.
nice name
@15:55 watch the missed high five hahaha
😄😄😄😄
the GMC driver had NO idea what he was doing.
And Chevys just terrible
trevor philips not according to truck trends last few competitions.
Also, BMWs have been total shit for years.
So ur one to talk...
That 6.0l was killing it
If I should pick 3 of them trucks.... 1 Lavon Miller's Ram 2 Jesse Warren's Ford and 3. that big Ford dually
Just goes to show Dodge is the the best and nothing but the best :)
+79tazman the engine is not dodge..
Not me just in love with those 3 3rd gen 6.7 cummins in the back
Best week watching them put amazing trucks to such tests its just awesome
I'm curious about the fuel usage part of the scoring. Without miles driven what value does it have? I mean you have the winning truck which has almost twice the HP of most of the other trucks and it used a half to a quarter of the fuel that most of the other trucks. Maybe it was trailered to and from each event and the others were driven? Something doesn't add up...
Awesome. I was hoping for Lavon Miller to take home the W on this year's DPC for the second year in a row. One person that I was hoping to see make an appearance was Shiloh with his blue Duramax but sadly he wasn't. But it was still a hell of a show and I really like the show of good sportsmanship that was displayed at this year's competition. Great show and it was alot of fun. God bless.
They definitely should reconsider their fuel consumption figuring methods. There's now way Dodges are capable of getting that good of mileage. Stock or otherwise.
The one thing I really envy about these big trucks, is when you have to work on them without a hoist. Buck just slid right under that truck no problems.
I LOVE Millers truck, im a major cummins fan, and that truck was amazing, warren had a seriously built 6.0 too, but against that stroked out dodge it fell just a bit short, really powerful truck though, and then there was the young Canadian duramax owner, he had no idea what he was doing, but cummins and powerstroke performed well this year, maybe next year duramax
Bill Whitters had no business being there.. he had no idea what to do all week lol
This was really professionally done!
Dang I want Lavon’s truck, not only is it badass, that’s one gorgeous Ram! If I ever hit the lottery I’d give him whatever he would take to have that lol such a slick truck
Now I know what Jerry's eyebrows are for.
Fuel Economy.
Kids ahead of his time.
Thanks for those five vidéos, great
Ritch From France
I still wanna show up with a 57 GMC dump truck...
love these challenges
Only day 5 of 2015? That's quite a long event!
ive seen lavon's truck in my hometown, its badass
i hope corey changes his set up with smaller turbo and small injectors so it will spool better, hell i would try a small turbo first to see if it can handle those injectors
I honestly hope he doesn't go back next year. Hes taken a spot of another guy that could have actually run a good truck 2 years in a row. Last year i was like whatever you know the guy has bad luck but this year. Hes a fool. His truck just aint tuned right not even close. Its lift is pointless and it makes good numbers but its a joke to what its against. Like seriously if he aint going to bring something done right or not doesnt matter. Run the damn thing. He tried il give him that but man his build is shit. I can understand if his budget is low but first of all hes in the oil industry and even on a rig you make good money but i guarantee you hes in the offices so he makes more than them hell he makes really good money in that case. So if he cant afford to run a good build he shouldnt bother driving up there and taking up the spot of someone that does. And 14 gallons in a week of rather poor work on his truck thats roughly 56litres of diesel fuel and its like a 1.10$ or thereabout a litre where i live so in a week if he burns that amount normally hes spending a shit ton of money on gas. He could save money and make more power if he tunes it right.
Gallons burnt is a bit of a misnomer, "gallons passed through the engine and unburnt out the stacks" maybe
Cant wait to see levon miller dominate in the Dodge Cummins next year. Maybe the ford and chevy guys can get a truck that will spool up in time for next years competition!
Lavon killed it. Good job
That Buck Stoneburner at around the 7 minute mark looks high as hell. I guess his name fits..
I like how where on the 5 day of 2014 Diesel Power Challenge, in the description
Good work with copy and paste
Powerstroke= Cummins= Duramax< 2 stroke Detroit Diesel
Another awesome year!
Please make more videos of those diesel trucks... :D
PS: Anyone has the competitors youtube channels? maybe some of them have...Woulf be sick to follow Buck! haha
Powerstroke where it should be: At the top of the sled pull.
I don't think I would want to participate in this event, most of the these trucks are for drag racing, and I sure as fuck wouldn't want to ripping it in half pulling a gigantic sled. Too risky
Buck Stonedburger for President lol!
Where's DPC 2016???
Where is road kill?
Favoritest videos on youtube
Im one of your subscribers :P
Thanks haha
Great show as always, I look forward to next year!
Since they posted this video today, does that mean that we won't get a roadkill episode
Can, if you had a slam bagged truck, use the bags to jack the back of the truck up while the pan comes forward? Legally I mean.. Within guide line ruling?
This is one place my 1700 whp gt 500 couldn't beat these beasts.
Motor trend you have the description for yesterday's video on this one!!
The fuel consumption portion really doesn't make sense since it depends on the amount of passes a truck makes at the Drag Strip.
Thanks for the good show!!
So in USA, the green nozzle at the station is diesel? It's confusing.
Lol Buck was on another planet
Lets see when i can get my truck built to do this.
miller is a really good sport
us chevy guys got home work to do if we can bet that dodge of miller . I would like to road kill do a pulling truck episode
I expected Motor Trend to produce this with a lot more quality. It has a lot of potential but the announcer/editors really killed the viewing experience in my opinion. Also, I find it hard to believe that they aren't able to find more comparable trucks.
i like this challenge..
Kj Jones is a badass!!!!!!!!!
Levon Miller won again? GO DODGE!!!
Impressive vp44 truck wow
Really cool..!
Cummins Power!!!
Well deserved! That fuel consumption tho!
I honestly do not understand a point of this. Is it really interesting for someone to watch it?
20k to build a champion. I'm sure he was endorsed a great amount of times afterward.
Why they don't use lower tire pressure on the dirt?
One of the contestants really frightens me, can you guess which one?
TheDutyPaid buck?
Jerry Adkins and his scary eyebrows
xRoyalPlayer It's Jesse Them eye's, you don't know what they are thinking.
Jesse Warren
man that guy with the gmc dually has no idea what he is doing
Noah Ferrari You ever done a sled pull? Can you back a trailer through a course? You even had a 1500 hp diesel? No so Shutup. lol This stuff is hard dude. Lotta time and alot of money. Some guys wanna win and some wanna go for the fun of it....life is not about being number 1.
Yes I have done a sled pull no the truck is not 1500hp but it does not take a genius to know that a transfer sled needs real momentum to make it any distance
Noah Ferrari agreed, and if anything the duramaxes build speed fast off the line compared to the others.. This guy was just in it for the fun.
Noah Ferrari Pretty sure he knew he lost and didn't want to snap his axle in half by going all out, so he did a pussy run. Can't say I blame him.
Just wish someone had told him to stick it in 4lo and the shifter in manual, third gear. Roll out a few feet then stand on it till it stops, push the gear shift forward then up and it'll go to N and stick
Why only one shot? Not like these guys know what they are doing.
Should have a "best tongue-out racing face" event. Oh wait, Lavon Miller won that too. ;)
@15:54 no? its okay :( .
Buck is a smuck
Why do all trucks suddenly stop during the weight pull? Elevation doesn't change, track doesn't change, what's the challenge in this one?
+OhFishyFish The weight on the sled moves closer to the bed of the truck which puts more weight on the tongue of the hitch very rapidly....
Yes, the sled has a blade on the front and wheels on the back. As the weight moves forward (because the wheels are connected to the weight) it puts more pressure on the blade which slows the vehicle.
Did anyone else notice the newer gen bumper on Buck's Ram?
BIG SHOOT out to BILL he showed us its not easy at all!!!!!
Lavon Miller :)
Lol this remind me of watching grass grow, or... Maybe paint drying
+Camron Cariker Just curious,do you own a truck that can run sub 12 second 1/4s ?! You don't find an 8,ooolb pound, brick aero truck that quick to be at least mildy amazing !!
+arkhsm ford uh or you can watch actual drag racing where the run sub 8 second quarter's that's exciting
What the hell??????
Nice car lavon
And congratulations
Go DODGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FORD!!!!!
+Conner Wilson DODGE AND CHEVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ford all the way
ford: Fix Or Repair Daily
+Country Gamer dodge: Dead On Driveway Guts Everywhere
Hey, I got no text about this being uploaded!
Im glad its Ford and dodge up there GM cant even keep up
Stretched tires are fucking stupid on everything, but to see them on full size trucks just makes me laugh.
