Landscape Edgers: Make Mowing Easy!

- Concrete edging is one of the best ways to separate landscape from the lawn. We always try to make it as easy as possible to mow for our clients- hence the curves here.
Machine used to cut the trench is called a “bed edger” it is by far the easiest way to dig for bullet edgers.

I would have liked to have seen the finished work.
Me, too.

I love love landscaping I used to beg friends and family to let me do their lawns. Lol. I love rock gardens and moss. Ground cover. Edging is my favourite. I use lots of rocks I find nearby or from my area. I love adding flagstone, we have a lot in the area. These are all things I find for free. The only money I really need is for any plants trees I can’t find that I think the yard really needs. I do my own Bonsai. So I love to add them to a project. Bigger ones of course. I grow just for these projects. I now get paid jobs from word of mouth :)
As much as I love plants ROCKS are just as important to me. When we go up north to cottage country. My sisters stunning lake house they built north of Toronto Ont Canada, Muskoka area.
When the family is swimming relaxing etc. I’m jumping from boulder to boulder looking for interesting rocks. I’m in my 40’s 🤭
Now I’m starting over in life career wise children leaving home etc
And now Im In university for landscape Architecture 🕺🏾
that is just awesome. I totally understand the love and appreciation for landscaping. Best of luck!
I love this story❤❤❤ keep rockin!
Pull your pants up please!!! 😮😅
My pop always poured concrete curbs around everything at the correct height to run his mower wheels on the curb to keep his grass even.
That only works if you poison your lawn with herbicides. Otherwise you still have to go over it with an edger/trimmer.
exactly what I am planning on doing before the end of the summer! though I would have liked to have seen the end product, looked great so far.
I was edging so hard to this
Nice templating.
Those curves look proper.
👍🏼 thank you!
Agreed. Having proper curves makes all the difference.
From what was presented it looks like a total improvement!
Nice clean job👍
It’s a different task when you live in the south and you don’t have soil, your yard is clay. If it’s wet, it weighs a lot and sticks together. Dry, it crumbles. This guy has good soil.
Ahhh good old Georgia clay. I don’t miss it at all.
That's why everything is built on grade! Slab on grade foundations. They just clear out the organics, add base, your forms, pour the concrete. If it weren't for the frost line up north, I don't think the people would have cellars or basements because there would be no reason to dig that deep. We also don't have basements in the south because of that reasons and because we would hit rock.
We have clay in CO as well. Some have sand. I like clay. In our dry climate something sticking together is good.
Neat and professional at the same time, appreciate this video
Glad it helps!
We lay down some flat pavers along the edge stones recessed in the ground and you can just mow over them and our customers love it
You still have to edge them even if your not weed eating them because almost all lawns have a creeping gras in the blend and even though it seems easier to edge in the moment it’s looks better and takes the same or less time to just weedeat it
There's always someone in the comments that "knows" better
@@Doubie.thats what weed killer is for
Ooh I like that you didn't make those beds straight and boring.
Stay hydrated out there 🍻
You'd think they'd spend money on drainage from the down spouts
Yeah it’s a bit of an eyesore lol
It would be nice to include tips on preventative maintenance for weeds when working on landscaping. Thank you for sharing
Now all you have to do is bury those gutter downspouts with an exit to a pop up so your local critters don't have easy access to your roof.
I've never heard of any critters capable of climbing up a two-story vertical run inside of an aluminum downpipe. Climb up the siding? sure. Up a straight tube with no surfaces?... not so sure...
@@ktiemz I live in Florida. I watched a rat crawl right up a stucco wall to a second-story roof. Wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
@@MrCabimero Exactly. Stucco wall =/= crawling up a downpipe though. There is texture on that wall. (I've seen rats on my stucco too!).
Such a good video you don't let it finish so we can see the finished product, and you just let the wind play the whole time I was really into this thinking wow this is a great idea
I’m curious to see after you done pavers and mowing afterward?
Seu trabalho tá ficando muito bom
Quero vê-lo pronto
😊😊😊
And I always thought those edgings were just to wreck your mower blade.
They do mate 🥳👍
I love this, great work! Wish we could see the end result, what are you using underneath those pavers?
Looks like standard crushed stone
He used crushed hopes and dreams under those bricks.
@@Sith_dude what are you trying to say? Are you saying he did a bad job and is just doing this because he has to?
This is my plan right here!
Put in rain barrels on the downspouts for watering options
nice natural grass!
Bet it cost a pretty penny! He needed help, too!
Compact before placing stone. Compact after placing stone. Thin layer of stone and then pound the brick into place
Good stuff
Beautiful work
Great job
Nice job well done my friend
🇺🇸
Use mortar.. this will only last a few seasons before they heave.
@@Murdacat You'll be constantly releveling.. Mine are holding up 10 years strong using mortar.
Nice work
Awesome work! ✝️🇺🇸
Those Milwaukee gloves good asf 👌👌
Wonderful
Was für ein spannendes Video 👏
I love my landscaping mallet
God bless anyone who sees this comment and many great things are coming your way
Looks good
My guy is taking no shorts today!
Nice job
Great work but I would recommend having the blocks higher, so grass and clippings doesn’t creep over. I have Zoysia and it’s very aggressive. Thanks
It looks really nice
Very rewarding work
Cool edgers
Nice 👍🏾
Could you please tell me the approximate labor cost on this project? Thanks guys nice job
Why do you put a layer of rocks underneath the pavers ?
So the bricks don’t sink into the dirt down the road. Drainage for the water to disperse
This has to be a bit… do you have a drivers license or a stove? Stupidity at this level is dangerous. Get out and work and learn something.

What did you use to dig the trench if I might ask?
There's a trencher sitting by the bricks a little over halfway through the video

@@Pablo19625 I've owned one for 15 years.. they're incredible. This is the first time I've seen one in a video.
I bought a house with the landscaping all edged in slate or flagstone on top of each other. Looked great, but it always comes apart!!! I should cement parts, but I broke my arm and cant do anything. I’m 68, and people run away from me because I have work that needs to be done.
I guess it’s back to a condo for me. Poor pooch!!
Maybe try paying for the job, then they wont run away lol
@@aarontaylor9413 I’ve done that, but there’s a real shortage of workers. Plus, I have a fiancé. You’d think he’d help because my house money is supposed to buy us an RV!!!
Did you think I hadn’t thought of that?!
@@Tinyteacher1111
Be careful of a fiance that's there for the payout but not the work.
@@christinaheagy4602 Exactly what I’ve been thinking!!!!!
@@christinaheagy4602 You bet!
You need curves on the square areas that the mower can go around. I only wish I had the strength to do all that!!
Adding course rock replaces the need for a french drain especially if you fix the lowest part to drain into a rock planter box vut use tropical plants if you live in a wet climate.
Cool
Make mowing easy! …after 20 hours of hard manual labor 😂
looks nice though! 👍
What are those pavers? How do they fit together around the curved line? Thanks
I never saw a garden edging that didn't move, settling and sinking into the ground, movement from frost heaving, getting bumped by a mower. roots pushing them up etc.. Then you have weeds that grow between the stones that make trimming harder! They always turn into a mess and have to be removed!
NO THANKS! A shoveled garden edge works best!
Hard work, understand the cost,I may be old fashion but it is a men job
Can you tell me what that trench digger is? I could use some help choosing one for my personal use. I have a lot of work to do.
Deff not a long lasting way to do it but it's a quick nice way to make it look good for a season or so till it sinks
Why would it sink?
It will definitely sink an inch of rock is not a good base layer I’ve been doing this work for 15 years this is a poor job but you look like you wanna learn so good for you
@@bradjohnson1884 as long as the bottom of the trench is solid and frim it will not sink.
I thought he was run 🏃♀️ drain. Lines
👍👍👍👌😊
Can someone please tell me where to buy the black rubber downspouts? They have cheap short ones at home depot that don't work
What size gravel underneath and how thick?
Is that gravel or sand under the edging pavers?
Make sure to hand dig that ir start using the right marking paint
Looks nice but after a few winters of heaving ground due to freezing , they will all be crooked.
How do you stop grass and weed interrupting later?
Holy mother of red wing black birds that was a lot of singing in the start of the video
Ahhhh, they have a machine that does that cheaply and quickly!
You're supposed to put Maison bleue between those so they don't shift
I would have liked to have seen the finished work as well so that I could tell them they planted them too low almost everyone does this they are supposed to be only buried 1 in and the rest is above the ground to prevent rocks or mulch falling into the lawn. THEY'RE NOT INTENDED TO BE DRIVEN OVER WITH THE LAWN MOWER WHEELS TO HELP EASE THE TRIMMING
After a while you have to redo em. Years of weeds making them cracks fertile af
When will the stones shift without concrete?
I had that curved concrete put around my house wish I had never done it. Very hard to mow. Wish I could just went with straight lines my lawnmower would have liked it better. Good luck on yours
Zero turn mower?
@@GenRicOpekc don't your rear wheel still hit the concrete?
You guys just put crushed rock underneath?
Can I see it done?
There’s not a woman alive who doesn’t want a landscape artist!
Grass grows around the brick
Wow i need your help
I hope you sprayed that grass and went heavy on the pre M. Don’t want it growing through lol
Makes it a bit harder. Grass grows tall against it needing another machine. Weed eater.
Spray your edges with round up, mow grass.
What kind of machine is that?
Would take 23 years of easy mowing to recoup the labor of installing that….
You should have got a green can and sprayed it on the "lawn"
Red so you can tell in video
@@wyattcreighton8212 It was a joke because the grass isn't in good shape so you spray it green to hide it :)
Why do u use orange paint
So were they flush with the grade? I couldn't tell. Seems to me there would be so edging happening once every so often creating more work for lawn care? I say delete the grass every where and grow food.
So that's what you're doing, right?
He sure is taking his time
Ya fuk installing those type of pavers lol.
You skipped EVERY key part b/t prep and finish in this "how to" vidro, thanks a lot Mr Spielberg.
Yup. They’ll love around right …? ….
Show more short video
That would have looked so much better with a different kind of edging, those make it look dated
That’s a lot of work to make mowing easier
Do they have landscaping school? 🤔
Decomposed crushed granite as your substrate
Won't move
My 15 year old primos would run circles around this wtf, this is a literally showing your work is a rip off
