Thank you i really love the trilogy of the Evil Dead series thank u again #DeadMeat and for my favorite saying Groovy
Fun fact: Bruce camble hated that necklace, he said it was "the ugliest peice of jewelry I've ever seen"
I can't believe Bruce said that he hated the magnifine glass necklace you want to know another fun fact the cast and crew have lost the real necklace so they have to buy a gold one and spray painted it silver.
I heard that the magnifying glass wasn’t the original idea, they lost or broke the original piece and had to replace it altogether last minute
Ha ha lol no wonder he gave it too his gf
You spelled Campbell wrong
Who is Bruce Camble?
My dad showed me this when I was 7. He didn’t understand that 7 year olds are more likely to get more scared than a 42 year old.
Lol
Haha I seen the 2nd film when I was 4 years old
I watched this when I was like 10 or 9 idk but definitely watched it when I was still in elementary.
Not my case
I watched this first around Christmas when I was five when my dad was allowed out of prison. I was in no way upset UNTIL Shelley died. Yes, Shelley. He also explained sexual assault to me along with everything else so the trees didn't really confuse me.
I love that even though this channel is a comedy channel, and generally has a time of light humor, James is incredibly competent at writing around sensitive topics. He treats these moments with incredible maturity and respect, and that's one of my favorite things about this channel.
Be the people James wants you to be,
Good People.
@@crbuck3394 I thought he said "Vegan people"
Yes
On top of that, I appreciate the way that, even through the framing of just going through to count kills, he'll take the time to stop and discuss pertinent and even sensitive stuff about the movie. This guy's passionate, considerate, and KNOWS HIS SHIT.
I only discovered the channel last week, but I've been binge-watching his Kill Count series since. He's completely captivated me.
Eh its all right sometimes but others he comes off sjw like but not to the extent of being bad.
20:14 Scotty's death might be the lamest; but I'd argue that it's the most emotional. Ash was trying to help and reassure his last friend, only to realize that he was already gone.
and that's not even the end of it, lol: eyes gouged, tree branch pulled from his torso,+ melted to oblivion...
Oof. That pencil stab to the ankle gets me every time.
Yeah, it's great. Stuff like that makes me so much more squeamish than over the top gore (not that it doesn't have its own place.)
Yeah, it reminds me of John Wick killing three men in a bar with a pencil.
Shoshannah Lee WITH A FUCKING PENCIL!
It’s so effective, I think that one effect alone makes me cringe more then anything.
John wick time mofos
For being an 1981 movie it's a lot scarier than other 80's movies
Ikr
Yep, with first person shots of an old lady killing a bunch of people at a camp then trying to slap the final girl to death, b4 getting decapitated. Did you know another movie had a literal joker as a killer, who killed through people's dreams? And another had robots in a mall kill people.
There are a lot of gems in 80's movies.
For an example,The Thing

Evil Dead 2013 : Super Horror
@@samuraigeorge71 the first one is my least favorite, I found it unintentionally funny and not scary
The thing that disturbs me the most about this movie is the fact that Ash lost his sister, GF, and best friend during the same night; he watched them getting possessed and horribly disfigured, and then he had to battle/kill 'em in the most gruesome way imaginable. He didn't face/kill strangers that night. That "small" detail makes The Evil Dead an incredibly emotional and tragic horror film, despite all the gore. The "ending" is almost a relief considering that Ash basically had no life left after that night, and the cops wouldn't have believed him.
Could also make sense why everything becomes more comedic in the sequels, he's gone insane 🤷
Did you know that this movie was banned in Germany for 30 years?
Why?

Evil Dead is one of the few franchises where it doesn’t have a really shitty installment. All four Evil Dead movies and Ash Vs Evil Dead is amazing
Ash Vs Evil Dead was WAY BETTER than it had any right to be. I’m sad it ended so abruptly
I'd mention Scream, then I remembered season 3 😬
And Jurassic park. Not Jurassic world. Just the Park movies
@@gtortillaz21 doesn't count. World movies still technically in the franchise.
Also, Toy Story and Mad Max
As usual, really appreciated the trivia at the beginning and throughout the video. I totally have a newfound respect for an already iconic horror movie.
The Darkest Vader if you’re interested in more there is a documentary about the filming of the movies with commentary from the cast and crew and Bruce Campbell has written a book about his time filming the movies. There’s a lot more crazy information in those that will question how Campbell made it out alive at all lol.
Yeah. I feel a little bad about damning this movie, since they had to be so dedicated and inventive to get it made with what they had. However, I have to be honest: this is a pretty terrible movie. I don't care about the characters (or the actors), there's no shortage of jump-scare cliches, and I'm not even very disgusted by the gore because the special effects are so unconvincing. Instead of spending whatever they had to spend on the gore, they should have gone the Jaws route and suggested violence rather than being as gratuitous as possible with it.
And that's why The Cabin in the Woods included "Angry Molesting Tree" as one of the possibly summoned monsters.
This is also an example of a molestation/rape-related joke that's actually funny due to the context behind it. They could've very well just called that option "The Woods Themselves" or something similar and it would've made just as much sense as an Evil Dead reference, but they instead singled out that one tree as if the rest of the woods wanted nothing to do with it. I love it.
And also the Deadites. But that one goes without saying.
Cabin in the Woods basically starts with The Evil Dead as a jumping off point into every other horror movie universe
I am your 690th comment, nice

Is it me, or is the 1980’s blood more realistic?
It was mostly practical effects then, which looks better tan CGI.
i think the blood in like youre next and newer movies is too orange
surprised cat it’s real blood lots of people died in the 80s
If you didn’t get it’s a terrible joke
The mobile player I don’t get it
It's because back in the 80's they made their own blood with self ingredients. Nowadays they just go to a company and buy factory made blood instead of taking the time of buying ingredients and making it themselves.
"Just like the flintstones cat Linda is back inside the cabin in no time" I laughed so hard

@@DeadMeat Deadite Cheryl when I was a kid gave me nightmares for years when I went to bed. She in her final messed up form is the scariest looking monster in movie history for me...especially her demon voice and violent nature..and puss-filled white eyes. TERRIFYING!!!
That is why The Evil Dead (1981) in my opinion is my favorite horror movie ...AND ALSO the scariest horror movie of ALL TIME to date! Watch it alone in a dark room...with the volume pumped up after midnight...and you will understand why.
Joseph Loduca has composed the most claustrophobic and terrifying soundtrack especially with those violin strings plucking sounds.
This is a lightning in a bottle movie....genius movie...that happens once in a lifetime! Evil Dead 2 is great...but no horror movie can top the pacing NOR the pure horror terror effect of this movie until today!

It may seem schlocky now, but my older brother showed this to me as a kid and it was genuinely one of the scariest, most disturbing movies I had ever seen (which I'm now grateful for); particularly - for some reason - the scene where Scott reanimates. Just jarring and creepy as hell.
Sidenote: before I knew who Bruce Campbell was, I remember initially thinking Scott and Shelley were gonna be the main characters, and even as a terrified kid I thought it was kinda cool Ash ended up being the "Final Guy" cuz it was unexpected.
Same for me on the sidenote. I liked the unlikely hero thing that you don’t really see too much in horror movies.
For me it was the fist Child's Play and The Exorcist. The fear of Chucky dissipated with age but I will always be disturbed by the Exorcist despite how well made it is.
My dad showed me The Thing when I was in fifth grade and the scene with Bennings turning and roaring at the others scared the absolute shit out of me. I still get chills whenever I see it.
CHilla415 my dad showed me these movies while I was young and often left during the middle but I was so scared but I was so curious what happened next so I kept watching even if I was so scared but what still scares me still and what horrified me was the “The house of a 100 corpses “ ( I believe that it’s the correct title ??) And amazing camera work
This is the movie I use when someone blames the budget for a movie being bad. This movie was basically made a shoe, a Bobby pin, and a 2 by 4 and it still manages to be very good so that is not a good enough excuse for me.
Tons of great horror movies have low budget.A few examples are Night of the Living Dead,Dawn of the Dead, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and of course the Original Halloween.
Big agree, I think the constraints of budget can be a benefit with some films, especially horror genre. With too much capital, filmmakers can be tempted to show too much, if that makes sense. And that's one of several problems with most horror films these days, to me anyway. And the grittiness of the first Evil Dead, including the actual lower budget film used, just adds to the atmosphere.

I noted to a friend while watching, the fact you can't see the car but you can see its headlights kinda makes it look like the headlights are eyes staring upon them, and considering the bridge now shaped like a inward claw, makes it seem like a visual representation of the evil(As well as foreshadowing with Ash fighting her how this evil will pick them off)

That's ok, I'll check back tomorrow for the next installment. I really hope you do an Army of Darkness Kill Count. It may not be as much "horror" as it is "comedy", but it deserves the recognition. And you're gonna get a solid kill count from it. Not to mention, if any of your viewers HADN'T seen Evil Dead, and you were the one who introduced them, Army of Darkness is an obligatory response.
Don't worry man once James A.Jannise starts a franchise he finishes it 😎
Dude, re-watching all the Kill Counts in order! You always pull out great references, but the Dr. Horrible reference!? Chef's kiss, sir!
Oh how she loved to read fine print 😂😂
Dead meat why don't you have 10millon subs
A question I ask myself everyday

Yh the original one is the best one
Faiaaz Fardin WRONG

Imagine if the tree scene was shot today.
2019:I'm offended
@@LetsGoGetThem All I'm saying is that unlike most cases today where people are offended for literally nothing, this would be understandable here. The scene is actually pretty hard to watch, and don't get me wrong it made this movie even greater because it had the balls to do it. But still, I can u derstand why certain type of people can be "offended" by this
@@Tarkov- People were offended in 1981, you ignoramus. It's an offensive scene, as the writer/director and actress agree.
If it was shot in 2019, it would be a pure Hentai scene
Easy, it wouldn’t
this was the first movie my dad ever watched when he was about 12-13, apparently him and his friend watched it while they were camping in the woods, pretty brave for back then when phones weren't around
I like the end of the bio of Ash in dead by daylight because it says the classic line "...GROOVY"
Not gonna lie I love how you talk about the story form beginning to the end while counting the kills. I've watched all the Evil Dead videos you did and will definitely subscribe.
I don't really know the evil dead movies but James explains nicely thanks.Awesome vid buy the way👍
Fraze Traze this is the best horror movie that inspired other films how have you not watch this movie but I’m not mad at you
Sam Raimi was a magician before becoming a director so all of those camera tricks were because of him being so very clever. They were extra cheap too! This movie will always have a place in my heart 😊
If we're already talking about Cabin in The Woods... WHERE IS KILL COUNT FOR THAT MOVIE!?!?!?
Brakkk Minecraft hes planing for it he has the rest of the year planned out
That elevator scene is gonna be a bitch to count 😅
Cabin In the woods is a masterpiece of meta horror. Did it better than Scream and Friday 6.
6:39 this is how tentacle hentai was created-
True tho. This is 1981
Never seen this movie but looks good actually. I really enjoyed the remake.

This was one of the first horror movies I ever watched, and it gave me nightmares.
Plz do the Texas chainsaw massacre
If I remember correctly James said he wasn't going to do Texas chainsaw massacre because he didn't want to support the director
@@lordhex6575 why?
Didnt he already do so?
@@indyjourd nope looked all over his Chanel to see if he made one and he hasn't
@@lordhex6575 It was Jeepers Creepers he said he wasn't going to do because of the director.
I woke up from a nightmare involving michael myers to a kill count uploaded just minutes ago
