It's just laziness, is what it is. He needs to include every single bone shard as a fresh kill, just in case. Only then will my blood lust be satiated. Even if skeletons don't actually bleed
My mother caught us watching this one night when we were young teens and nearly had a conniption fit, thinking it was a full on horror movie. We're a christian conservative family so that kind of thing didn't go over so well back then. We protested and eventually got her to watch the movie (just by herself) on the condition that if there was anything in it she didn't like we wouldn't say anything more about it. She watched it expecting to call our condition within the first few minuets, and ended up siting through the entire thing. She found it so funny that she showed it to our father, who in turn found it so hilarious that its now one of his favorite films. We've watched it together as a family several times over the years since then.
It’s funny that you mention that because me and my parents are Christians and they don’t really care that I watch The Evil Dead Trilogy because they know that I can appreciate the ridiculousness of this series
Most people like that can curse or not curse. I'm sure when he's having dinner with his wife's family and they ask him about , say his review of JAWS he doesn't go, "Oh JAWS? It's a ....SHAWK ATTACK MUTHAFUCKAAAZZZ!"
Exactly! Unless you pay attention, there's a chance you wouldn't even know that Army of Darkness is even connected to Evil Dead! Let alone that it's actually the third movie. Seriously, I have being very young when I first saw it as an excuse (I don't remember my exact age, but I know I wasn't 10 yet), but it wasn't until years after I saw Army of Darkness that I found out it was part of the Evil Dead series.
@@EpicGamer-dk1tp My grandfather is a gunsmith And he practically raised me when I was little so I spent a lot of time in his workshop with him. He also owns lever action rifle and a couple of different shotguns
Army of Darkness is actually my favorite in the trilogy. It just went full whacko and I absolutely love that it did! There are just *so* many quotable lines and memorable moments to me.
I love the entire series but I felt like Army of Darkness was just my favorite out of the three for being so damn good and zany. Not to mention Ash’s one liners and the memorable moments.
It’s probably the most effective comedic part because of how left field it is. The movie was already throwing silly stuff at us, but that really was kind of a big break for the audience before the horror stuff restarted when the new group gets to the cabin
While i do feel it's the _funniest_ i don't quite agree with it being the most _comedic_ scene. It keeps that unsettling feel of a guy just absolutely crumbling under stress, it adds to the whole horror ambiance. Army of darkness is just downright silly with its mini-ashes, which does work with it being a comedy. But that's just my opinion
Who else used the "Army of Darkness TC" mod for DOOM back in the 90's? For those that don't know, a group of guys pretty much overhauled DOOM to be Army of Darkness. My feelings exactly! I always saw it as a side-effect of Ash becoming possessed and getting crazier and crazier. Despite him seemingly freeing himself in _Evil Dead II_ and cutting off his hand, it still lingers within him due to him having been in the Kandarian Demon's presence and domain for so long, hence why he inadvertently spawns the Mini-Ashes and in turn the fully embodied Evil Ash.
I absolutely loved this movie as a child. I watched it over and over. I had never seen the rest of the series until I was an adult, and i was completely shocked when i saw the original. It legitimately scared the shit out of me. I thought they were all comedies lol. Side note. We need a petition to bring Ash vs. The Evil Dead back on. That show was amazing.
I just started watching it today and it's like, kind of the best "movie turned into a show" show I've ever seen. It modernized the classic evil dead feel flawlessly. Like, you can tell it's been made 30 years later but it doesn't sacrifice a single slice of what make Evil Dead so special. It's fantastic, a true 10/10 show
the gun wasn't a shotgun, it is a lever action rifle, which shoots only single shots instead of spread shot like shotguns. The lever action allows for him to shoot it really rapidly, every time it is pulled another round is chambered.
I feel like that's the deal with a lot of horror series. Terminator went from Horror to action because of that. Same thing with Alien. Doesn't make it bad in my opinion, it can be just a demonstration of character growth.
Its a lever action rifle probably using .357, .30-06, 45-70govt. As far as I remember I don't believe shotguns were lever action, but I could be wrong.
With that many shots, it would have been a 45LC, 357, or a 44 (pistol rounds). 30-30, 45-70, or other full rifle rounds are too long for that many shots. Levers in those calibers can only get like 4-5 rounds in the tube.
I'd just like to point out real quick the gun Ash used in the store at the end wasn't a shotgun. It was a lever action rifle. Also known as a repeating rifle, or repeating lever action rifle.
@@Daniel-ot4jg That's twice the fucking budget, that's pretty fucking good. That is also a indicator that their movie is successful, similar to the budget-box office for Blair Witch.
@@markuskruber1893 You don't know what goes into the making of a movie. A studio has to make twice to budget just to break even. That's not a success by any means. If you studio knew it would only make 25 mil then they wouldn't even make it, they're out to make more money than they have to spend paying people back.
Crazy Cat Family It's not breaking records or anything but when you rake in slightly more than double your budget that's rarely considered anything else but a success regardless of what the product is.
The ending weapons of chose wasn't really a shotgun, it a repeater rifle and yes it can fire that many which recording from history it has 16 shots (chamber included) I think which seem the description of the weapon seem to pose to be Henry Winchester type weapon for it uses .44 rounds which leaving that many shots into some dude will actually be dead within a heartbeat.
@@allouteverything3940 those are the modified one that ppl change parts of the gun which it wasn't illegal during that time for they produced these gun with modified changer.
I love those fast push ins that Raimi does. That’s his signature n is usually in all of his movies. But in Ash vs Evil Dead they do it when he’s loading up n they add him putting on a cologne n then wink at the camera after he puts his saw and shotgun on.
I learned of this movie thanks to poker night at the inventory. Ash's personal advice was never go anywhere without written instructions. Also it turns out he's Brock Samsons ancestor.
I learned, years after seeing Army of Darkness, that the words Ash uses to deactivate the Necronomicon are the same words used to deactivate Robby the Robot in the original The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Oh my god I FINALLY found where that skeletons marching into battle playing instruments gif came from! I've seen it everywhere around Halloween and I've always wondered!! Thanks James!!!
This movie is phenomenal. It doesnt take itself seriously and is just as funny and entertaining as it ever was. Aged much better than its contemporaries because of the humor.
When Ash pilots the death mobile, he says "welcome to the 21st century, baby", even though the time period he got sucked out of at the start should still have been the 1980's.
17:10 "I possess the necronomicon! I've crushed your pathetic army! Now I'll have my VENGEANCE!!!!!" My favorite line from this movie mainly becuz of the voice.
It's one of the most purely fun films I ever saw. Probably my fave of the movies with (with Evil Dead 2 sometimes just behind or just ahead depending on my mood).
It's awesome that two Build engine games, Duke Nukem 3D, and Blood, both copiously quote from Army of Darkness. Hell, there's even a scene in Blood where the mirrors break, and mini Calebs come out, just like mini Ash. Even the Mass Effect series got in on the action, with a female character called Ashley Williams. Lines are even made talking about her boomstick. I'm glad media in the future gave it the love and attention it deserves that it didn't get at the time. I never watched any of the movies, but watched the Ash vs Evil Dead series on Netflix. Where Army of Darkness was too comedic to be scary, Ash vs Evil Dead flawlessly blends horror and comedy in a way not seen since Shaun of the Dead. I'm a wuss for horror, but I loved the the Netflix series.
Remington side by sides were all manufactured at their sole plant(at that time) in Ilion N.Y. The actual piece in the movie is a Stoeger Coach Gun. Also the rifle at the end looks like a modern reproduction of an 1892 Winchester with a Big Loop lever. The standard length magazine capacity is 10 rounds, so yeah they can shoot that many times.
How you figure? just because it doesnt always show him reload means he doesn't. In most scenes if you listen close you can hear the sound effect of the shotgun being reloaded.
I once participated in a Q&A with Bruce Campbell, where he would tell stories about the set, and apparently, the line “give me some sugar baby” was given to Bruce Campbell by Sam Rami right before they shot the scene, and he told people that Sam would hit him in the ankles before shooting the scene where the skeleton hands attack Ash
Gonna say this as nicely as possible because I don't want to be mean, the gun he used was more likely a lever action rifle from the way he fired at the hip but it does look kind of like a shotgun so its a common mistake, have a great day :)
Beat me to it and some lever action rifles can hold up to 15 rounds that rifle looks like a more modern design so capacity may be closer to 5 or 6 buy movie magic
@@bleh8789 very possible I'm making my assumption off of the type of store this is supposed to be and on average a generic sporting goods section generally has 30-30s for lever guns and your standard assortment of shotguns and .30-06 bolt Actions
If you don’t own the Scream Factory edition of this movie, I highly recommend it!! It comes with deleted scenes, the alternate ending, the directors cut, and a really in depth making of 💙

I feel like that's the deal with a lot of horror series. Terminator went from Horror to action because of that. Same thing with Alien. Doesn't make it bad in my opinion, it can be just a demonstration of character growth.
@@fishermclemore9120 in terminator's case i think it wasn't such a good idea
Fun fact, 6:37 when he put his gun away they couldn’t get his holster to work right so it’s just some crew member holding it
Its a lever action rifle probably using .357, .30-06, 45-70govt. As far as I remember I don't believe shotguns were lever action, but I could be wrong.
Thanks!
there are a few lever action shotguns but non had barrels that small, or loading mechanisms like that.
@@jor.jasper See that's what I was thinking as well.
With that many shots, it would have been a 45LC, 357, or a 44 (pistol rounds). 30-30, 45-70, or other full rifle rounds are too long for that many shots. Levers in those calibers can only get like 4-5 rounds in the tube.
There is a lever action shotgun, the Terminator used it. Cant remember what the actual gun is called
It’s more like a parody film, rather than a sequel.
Kinda like Terminator 3.

@@waltermalone216 But unlike AoD, Terminator 3 isn't the best of the trilogy, but exactly opposite.
But it's still pretty damn good
I'd just like to point out real quick the gun Ash used in the store at the end wasn't a shotgun. It was a lever action rifle. Also known as a repeating rifle, or repeating lever action rifle.
I'm glad somebody mentioned this already. :)

@@Daniel-ot4jg really?it made more than it had so ig that would be good
@@Daniel-ot4jg That's twice the fucking budget, that's pretty fucking good.

I never watched any of the movies, but watched the Ash vs Evil Dead series on Netflix. this movie should of lowkey just been pg 13 the violence is cartoonish

He was pg in France...great memories..with Menace 2 society...Demolition man..Mouth of madness.
It's obvious thats Ash is the chosen one, considering that his Boom Stick has an unlimited amount of ammunition! Not even a wizard could do that!
How you figure? just because it doesnt always show him reload means he doesn't. In most scenes if you listen close you can hear the sound effect of the shotgun being reloaded.
And “guns” back then took about 10-20 seconds to reload
I once participated in a Q&A with Bruce Campbell, where he would tell stories about the set, and apparently, the line “give me some sugar baby” was given to Bruce Campbell by Sam Rami right before they shot the scene, and he told people that Sam would hit him in the ankles before shooting the scene where the skeleton hands attack Ash
Raimi was also the one beating Bruce with the flapping fake Necronomicon book in the graveyard. He really smacked him hard
A kickASHE battle.
Nice
I see what you did there
Gonna say this as nicely as possible because I don't want to be mean, the gun he used was more likely a lever action rifle from the way he fired at the hip but it does look kind of like a shotgun so its a common mistake, have a great day :)
Thanks for being so nice about it!
Beat me to it and some lever action rifles can hold up to 15 rounds that rifle looks like a more modern design so capacity may be closer to 5 or 6 buy movie magic
It was a .357 lever action probably
