Hi Aprilynne!! I'm currently bingeing your content :) How are you creating the graphics with the white background for your videos? They look fantastic!!
I love how you explain things. You aren't condescending like a few other channels. You are very personable and approachable as well. Thanks a metric butt ton! 💗
Its no surprise why the videos that do well on your channel do so well. They save people like me time / are super useful. We appreciate you putting in the work for us. This observation of a smaller channel having a few videos that have already performed really well is actually invaluable in and of itself.
Yo this was a really good video! I especially liked Thing 1 (the sound section, particularly pointing out and naming the vocabulary) and Thing 4 (the really quick CTR and Retention takeaways were great!)
I'm so glad you found the video helpful!! I'm thinking about making a more in-depth video about sound design & music selection as I learn more about it :)
I started following your channel this month & i must say. I am glad that I Subscribed.. This video made me love Mr who is the boss more😊.. I will take a week to focus more on sound design... & I want to say a very big thank you for sharing this video 🤝 it means a lot 🫂
i watched 2 times to better understand every detail, because information is very dense on video. This video has hours of editing effort. Worth every second. I admire your effort. Thank you.
Second video ive watched of yours after the video with “why your videos suck” as the thumbnail and immediately i can hear, see and feel the improvement of you and your channel. One big change is the emotion / inflection in your voice. I guess you have less nervousness, more emotion and energy vs the previous video i watched you were more monotone. Good work! Well done!
Another fantastic video! Completely agree with quality over quantity - after watching your video about how MrBeast solved retention last week, I immediately clicked on this video when it showed up on my feed because I expected another super high quality video, and this one definitely delivered again. Although I learned to do many of these tips subconsciously over the years, it is immensely helpful to have them all laid out like this very easily - I realize now that I should definitely organize my music library to save time! One small bit of constructive criticism about your sound design - I noticed you apply a reverb filter to all the clips you show from another youtuber. While this does provide variety to the sound design and I've seen other big youtubers use it effectively to add emphasis to very short intermittent clips, it sounds a bit grating when used for longer clips because the settings on the reverb filter make it sound as if it was in a medium-sized echoey room untreated for noise - essentially it's turning the great clean audio quality from those youtubers into amateur-sounding audio quality. A sound editing indicator isn't necessary that you're using a clip from someone else's video since it's already shown by the fact that we can see and hear that someone else is speaking - but perhaps a visual indicator like their channel name next to the youtube logo in the corner of the screen could do the same thing.
So glad you found this video up to par! And I actually didn't do anything to the sound from the clips lol - maybe it was just a weird difference from when I took the recording of the clip? Not sure... maybe I need to start downloading the videos vs just taking local recording? Really appreciate you taking the time to watch & give feedback, though!
I love your videos! Would you be able to make a video about exactly what your process/system to scripting and coming up with a shot list? I struggle a little bit with knowing the most effective and efficient way of doing this.
I wish i could hug you know and clap for you to hear. What a video. What a dedicated work. You not only applied in this video everything you taught us, but did even more. This infographics with the resume of each session were pure gold. Congrats! ;)
The best channels are binge-worthy. For me, that includes MrBeast, Arun from MWTB, Film Booth, etc. I think you nailed the content of this video. Thanks for sharing!
I soooooo need to work on my sound design. But ALL your video is so insightful, I did not even think of speeding it up! Haha more seriously, thank you for your hard work ❤
Wow, April I'm so happy for your growth do far. You may not have met yo tree target before but this growth is amazing. Thank for all the input into making these videos. I really enjoy watching you❤
this is freaking fantastic video and stuck in 4k ? , I don't understand, I really loved your video. I don't know whether you edit the video yourself or not but It is amazing.
Hi!!! Question: I want to do a video podcasting channel where the podcast is filmed as well. Do you think the editing strategies would be helpful for a video podcast too? Any strategies that wouldn’t be good?
Hi Aprilynne, thank you so much for the helpful content. I really like the edit of the video and wanted to ask if you edit the videos yourself or if you have a dedicated editor. I am looking to start but feel stuck because of the difficulty of editing or finding good editors at a good rate. Thank you again!!
This video thumbnail and title are more similar to a film booth. What I suggest Your video is good, but the audience subconsciously believes they viewed it because it is too similar to a film booth, even though your video content is different. Simply replace the Thumbnail with something more clickable and new to this platform, such as your most current video thumbnail. I am confident that this video will get more views as well.🤝
Love, how are your videos not getting 1mil views?? C’mon community let’s help! She is AMAZING!!! And puts so much thought and effort in her videos! Sending you so much love! 🤗❤️
How do i properly set up audio for my videos? I know this is completely unrelated but i just don't know how to set it up the my mic/sound fxs/ and background music from being too loud or too quiet.
Set the music low enough that you can't really tell that it's there, but that if it cuts out for a second, you can tell that it's gone For sound effects, just keep them loud enough that you can hear it over the music but low enough so that it's not distracting Not an exact science, but that's the process I use 🤷♀️
Every time I use instrumental music in the background, RUclips gives me a copyright claim and I delete my draft video. Have a great time on your trip. Paul
Starry Attic is a RUclips channel with 100% copyright free music, in the vloggy vibe niche. You can't just add instrumentals of existing songs by copyrighted singers.
Usually I put the source as a text overlay in the video! This time, because all of the clips came from the same source, I just listed it in the description I believe short clips are fine under fair use. Not 100% sure, though. I'm learning, too!
it would be so nice if at least some of the 'pros' being referenced were women. I'm on your channel BECAUSE I didn't want to be talked at by another man. as a woman I try to support other women everywhere I am, because I recognize the implicit bias we all internalize, in which expertise is conveyed more readily upon men than women.
100%!! It's something I realized after posting this video, and I've been a lot more intentional about pulling from more diverse sources in the videos after this one!
Because people have been asking for it: Here's the PDF version of the complete guide! Hope you find it useful! www.aprilynnealter.com/pl/2147832397
I’m actually loving these pdf visuals you’re making and am saving them all for notes and reference on making my own videos.
Aprylinne, are you offering something for black friday / cyber monday ?
I'm so thankful that you are sharing the pdfs with us, it really helps out after watching the video
Hii Mam, is there vacancy for video editor ?
How is this not a paid course?!?!?!
Haha I'm glad you found it useful :)

The change of music at 3:14 was brilliant, love that beat! 😌😌😌🔥🔥🔥
Couldnt agree more!. Music is everything.... my vids get 300K plud due to the right emotional music. 🎉

May I ask what presentation app you use?
I just make visuals in Figma, and then animate them in my editing software!
A gem 💎
