That linking your shorts to your latest long form video is the biggest take away I got from this video. I never thought about doing that. Thank you! Great content. Best of luck in 2024.
1.- have three elements in your thumbnail 2.- study traditional media 3.- put long video links on your shorts 4.-clip your long videos 5.- title 8 words or less, write a rough concept and intro, draw a thumbnail 6.- diversify your traffic (links)
His advice is always to the point... Make good content. That is it. The trust is, that is as simple as it is and if you feel you don't have good content... get busy studying others.
I haven’t heard about the flood method or short to short method but that is great advice!! Great video!! A Mr Beast interview was an awesome surprise to wake up to!
I work in international advertising and I’ll say this, if you give everybody what they want and don’t limit how many people you can reach you’ll have a better chance of success.
So glad to have discovered your channel in 2023! You've provided hours of insight and entertainment ~ thanks for being an inspiration to create again, as well! Looking forward seeing what you drop in 2024, Jon! Happy New Year!
Those are some really valuable tips and I wish I have watched this video before... It would have saved me so much time I used on trial-and-error. But I guess it's never too late to learn and improve as content creator (Recently, I also discovered that using a bit of Famester helped me to level up my channel even more). Keep up the great work, I can't wait for your next video.
Right off the bat, great question with asking Jimmy to break down the thought behind each thumbnail and progression. Not going for edited thumbnails but still interesting to hear the response. Thanks again for another great interview, Jon.
All of these are such good ideas! I’ve rewatched this video 3 times taking more notes each time. Thank you for these updated tips! Let’s see what happens when you apply them :)

Thanks for these tips! I’ve been learning a lot lately and making little tweaks here and there is getting my older videos some views and some better views on new content. It’s def. Hard work to consistently post new videos, especially when it’s not your full-time job and it’s just you without a team of people to edit and draw ideas from.
Hey Jon! I've been watching your videos for a minute now and really appreciated this one! Thank you for sharing what you learned from Jimmy (Mr. Beast) and how he goes about developing his thumbnails. It's always interested to learn how other successful created go about their process. Your additional tips were also very helpful and insightful! This was a great video to start off the new year!
I’m a professional poster designer for TV and film and always try to approach thumbnails the same way I would approach comping key art. Love these tips about thumbnails and shorts!
RUclips and I are seriously not vibing right now. It's like, I pour my heart and soul into this channel, juggle my family responsibilities on top of it, and what do I get? Crickets. Honestly, I'm running on fumes, a whole lot of caffeine, and the sheer stubbornness that refuses to let me quit.

00:01 Limiting Lamborghinis in thumbnails for better simplicity and understanding I find this trick very useful: 📁Make a new folder with all the thumbnails you are testing (3 or 4 options). 🖱Right click - View - Large icons. 📂Open folder again and see which image your eyes notice first. That's the good thumbnail 😎
Flood method could definitely lower watch time… because if the short form viewer that already has a short attention span clicks your video thinking it’s for a different topic that 15 second view lowers watch time.
