I'm subscribed but I still saw the thumbnail and recognized the style from your killer intros viral video that helped me first discover you as a RUclipsr, Aprilynne. At first I wondered if it was that vid I already had seen but then I saw what it was about in the title and was ready to click and watch and knew it would be quality content and it certainly delivered! I also knew how much the you were pouring into this and had seen a lot of community updates from you hyping it up ahead of time!

🔴1 Super IMPORTANT thing that 90% of youtubers make a mistake on is making their title and thumbnail have same wording/tell same message
You have 2 opportunities with a thumbnail and title, so there's no point repeating things. Two options:
    1. Test different things
    2. Have them as an extension of one another
Awesome video btw. Probably the best video on RUclips Thumbnails out there!

This is amazing - I had basically given up on watching youtuber advice videos recently bc so many of them are just the same regurgitated mr. beast quotes over and over again, with a few notes on confidence and stage presence. However, your videos (this one + the intro one) are genuinely very well crafted advice from someone who clearly is interested in studying youtube. The information is both novel and digestible, and mostly I can see how it actually could apply in various niches, making it far more useful to me. Also, you're completely correct on your thumbnail standing out - that's the exact reason I clicked on the intro video in the first place - the aesthetic vibe of your thumbnail implied that the video would be far more appealing to me than the usual braggadocious vibe of other youtube advice youtubers (who often unfortunately remind me of the phrase 'those who can't do, teach'). I'm really planning on incorporating your advice here and in the intro vid to the best of my ability and seeing what happens.

In a flood of “experts” making dozens of videos finding new ways to say “work on titles and thumbnails” without giving any concrete ways to do that, this is a truly remarkable tool.
I run a sketch comedy channel and have I personally would love any kind of follow up or resources focusing on narrative thumbnails as opposed to the more common gaming/video essay/stunt videos.

Thanks for putting all this information together! I've seen bits and pieces of this watching those same interviews and videos, but never took the time to really map it out and examine it in such detail. Maybe it was me being stubborn about my "style" haha.
Unlike other videos I've seen, really appreciate how you also took us into your process, the use of the figma boards, the document of notes, the pdf guide, everything just shows that you've not only extracted powerful insights, but you've structured it all into a very MECE framework that also relates to information we already know (i.e. psychology, colors), before putting it together into an excellent and engaging video.

this series is literally the best series ever. I've been on youtube since 2011 and failed with multiple channels. Now I have one that finally reached 19K subs but engagement just isn't there and I am now in a different phase of life. So I decided to start over with this channel. Your tips are truly amazing

Aprillynne, you have hit every important point in this issue which is INVALUABLE to all of us (and I would say just about every creator on youtube hahaha: we are ALL struggling with thumbnails 😂) So many thanks! Your videos never disappoint and I am looking forward to your next one about video ideas.
btw hahaha, I love that you design your thumbnails in Figma. Glad to know I am not the only one who doesnt just use Figma for UX/ UI etc. (Figma is awesome for lots of stuff, even if I couldn't survive without Photoshop, Figma has my heart)

Girl I love Figma so much! tbh I don't even have Photoshop installed (gasp!) because it's just so unintuitive to me. But Figma is the best

This is truly the BEST video I have ever seen on this topic! Without unnecessary information, everything is clear to the point! Every 2 seconds I had to open the notes again and again to record new information from you! Now I’m sitting and thinking about all the information you listed, and I’m thinking how I didn’t think about at least 1 of these points on my own! After all, it really does work! Let me give you an example: I recently saw you for the first time a week ago, I decided to click on the video because I was interested in this topic. I watched it and liked it, but didn’t subscribe. Today I went to RUclips, saw your video, and apparently, my brain automatically considered you something familiar, safe, that I immediately clicked on the video, although, to be honest, I didn’t even pay attention to your preview (except for your face!). Now I'm definitely subscribing! Thanks a lot!!

Excellent. One of the best explanations of what thumbnails are, and how to make them work for your channel. Clear, concise, and filled with top notch information. A lot of these concepts I've learned over the last 50+ years in other areas such as publishing, art and design, creating training videos, and teaching adults, etc. but I never thought of how to apply them to RUclips thumbnails. THANK YOU!

I've seen so many thumbnail videos but this is the first that goes beyond "it's really important, create curiosity, and stand out" which are all very true but it's so helpful to actually be told HOW! The infographic at the end was also extremely valuable, and I can't say how much I appreciate it!!

The RUclips gods BLESSED me with this video. I expected I'd have to see a couple of videos on thumbnails to make mine better but nope! You ate and there are no leftovers!
One thing I would like to point out for new RUclipsrs like me (2 videos uploaded - not on this account) is that it's also ok to improve just for the sake of improving, without an output goal like going viral or closely monitoring the metrics! It's more rewarding when it's about learning a new skill, and Aprilynne seems like a great teacher!
