As a helpful hint, remove bleed nipple and use compressed air line to blow out/remove the pistons. Just hold a rag against the pistons to catch them lol.
I hope you know that you are putting out the best content. I hope you keep giving us more for years and years to come. Keep living the Toyota Truck Dream.
I have never disassembled calipers down that far!! I always thought they were filled with magic brake voodoo.. ha ha awesome content and information as always Austin! Keep on keepin' on!!!
This is an easy kit, The bracket is From Australia but the rest of the parts you can get from Rockauto. www.designfab.com.au/buying/how-to/toyota-hilux-rear-disc-brake-conversion/
What type of masking tape is used that can withstand the 400 degrees heat? Also is there any danger of the rotors becoming warped from the heat? Thank you for sharing your talent.
Hey I was wondering if you could post the part numbers for the hard brake lines and the brackets. I was going to buy the big brake kit but looks like I can buy everything separate for quite a bit cheaper. Thanks!
Hi I wanna do the upgrade to my 96 Toyota Tacoma but my Mechanics shop manager told me that the calipers are to big and I will have to get bigger rims other then the stock rims..??? Is this true ??
With the detail you're putting under the truck in places most won't see, do you have any plans for the paint on the truck? Man you put that second caliper together way faster! ;o)
What! No swap for the back brakes? well more like dog food bowle's I for the life of me don't know why Toyota puts em on the taco but no other Toyota truck?
I can’t believe you stopped on my name for the 9007’s. When I watched the previous video I thought you had said 9003. I love my T100, but it seems like there’s nothing you can do with the headlights.
Some of the best work I’ve seen on RUclips! Enjoy every video on these builds.
Wow, thanks!
It gets just better and better, that's awesome

SRQ fab makes extended brake lines for front and rear (i think three inches longer front) that i have in my 3g4r and they’re very good quality!

Thanks man!! Glad you enjoy!

😂
Ha ha magic brake voodoo.
Because of these videos I’m gonna rebuild my calipers.
Awesome stuff👍👍 This is the best upgrade I've done on the 4Runner along with converting the rear to discs. Keep up the great content🍺🍺
I can't believe how clean the frame on that truck is!!
Not the rear end 🤣I'm from Cali. I have a 2000 4runner 3rd gen and the only rust is old mud.
a 4runner rear disk setup would be pretty sweet too 👌

Is the new bigger calipers compatible with the stock wheels 🛞.
Killer brake up grade. Can't wait to see what's next.
Love your work.
Please consider painting the bed cover in black!
The white just seems out of place
What do you do with rear drum brakes ? Stick with oem?
What type of masking tape is used that can withstand the 400 degrees heat? Also is there any danger of the rotors becoming warped from the heat? Thank you for sharing your talent.
That’s attention to details 👌🏾
When you reassembled the calipers, What did you tourqe the bolts to on the caliper halfs?
I couldn't find a spec, I just went tight plus a smidge haha
You put the clips for the braided lines on backwards.
Yup, thats why they have a little bit of play.
For factory lines yes, with these lines not exactly working with the mounts I had to improvise
Will the 13WL brake calipers work?
Beautiful tacoma project, always waiting for the next video 🔧⚙️
Do you need to upgrade the brake booster for this mod?
Would you reccomend this on all tacoma's? Ive had issues with my brakes for a while...
Yes this is a great upgrade for the 1st gen tacoma
Hey where can I go buy this kit for my 96 tacoma 4x4 thanks
Is there a reason to not use cericote on brake calipers?
Everything you do is super clean!
Educational and learning about late model toyota tacoma trucks I like
Hey I was wondering if you could post the part numbers for the hard brake lines and the brackets. I was going to buy the big brake kit but looks like I can buy everything separate for quite a bit cheaper. Thanks!
Will these be a good upgrade the gen 5 4runner as well?
Will this work on a 2022 tacoma by chance?
A little of conpressed air would have popped those pistons out without any effort or risk of damaging the piston with screwdrivers and pliers
Was just getting on here to say the same thing. 😂
I always leave a block of wood on the middle to prevent one piston from rocketing out before the others release.
Its hard to make things with one hand, great video 😀
Will this work on a 3rd gen Tacoma
Congrats on the sponsorship!
Thank you!
Do you know if this will work for the 2wd 5 lug version mine are trash
Powdercoat seems like a better way to go over a rattle can. How hard is it to get a good looking part compared to a rattle can?
What type of media do you use in your sand blaster?
80 grit aluminum oxide
how long to you degas them?
you can pull out the pistons by air pressure ;)
There’s a guy on the forums that made a rear disc conversion kit using Shelby rotors
Tacoma calibers are notorious for premature failure i.e. one or two pistons seizing. Does this swap fix that?
whats that green transparent tape called?
Does the 13WL work on a second gen 4unner
Brake hose clip installation upside down
Could I do this to a mk5 (2004) hilux?
Another fantastic mod, excellent work sir!
Do you have a part number for the calipers? I’m not a huge fan of the powder coated red calipers you linked in the description.
Have you tried the cerakote products ? They work great on rifle parts and are very durable.
Yes I have! It’s a very good product!
Loving these videos. Quick question, what model of Kobalt air compressor are you using and do you like it?
It’s a 60 gallon. I have had it for 5-6 years and hasn’t let me down yet!
@@austinniemela Right on. Thanks!!!!
Do they make this kit for a gen 2 taco. If they do. Do you have a link?
They look nice
Good day, Awesome videos!! Will this work on a toyota 4x4 pickup?
Are those brand new oem calipers?
No they are aftermarket!
What the rotors brand from Amazon
Hi I wanna do the upgrade to my 96 Toyota Tacoma but my Mechanics shop manager told me that the calipers are to big and I will have to get bigger rims other then the stock rims..??? Is this true ??

Good stuff right there
Beautiful kit I wish I wasn’t broke

Did you paint the frame? If so what did you use?
Yes! I use napa chassis black or Eastwood chassis paint
Will this fit 3rd gen 4RUNNER?
Yes it will!

Too funny, I saw my comment a couple times as you were scrolling back and forth.

I work with UPS at PDX and we get entire airplanes full of Prismatic Powders and boy are they heavy
Rats! I was all ready for you to be doing a drum to disc conversion on the rear axle. Updates on how the Kei truck is plowing??
Nutty
The breaks are worth more then the truck
Ahh my brand of bulbs aux beam
With the detail you're putting under the truck in places most won't see, do you have any plans for the paint on the truck? Man you put that second caliper together way faster! ;o)

So wear that masking tape not melt in oven under 400 temperature!!?
Damit man you make me want to find a new first-gen ....mine is a rusted-out shit box!!
you will be able to sell this truck for around 30grand when your done, easy.
I think I would go for 45k considering and see where it lands but yea 30k easy
@@donkeyrider Today's market, and 1st gen 4 door, you could be right.
What! No swap for the back brakes? well more like dog food bowle's I for the life of me don't know why Toyota puts em on the taco but no other Toyota truck?

The clips are backwards
