I didnt realize it but you have alot of family on here that's awesome.
heck ya! so stoked to see all of the progress made on the Tacoma. You're doing great!
Great fabrication skills, love watching the video. I could only imagine a small diesel in one of my older 1st gen tacoma's. My 1982 comes to mind.
Thanks 👍
Awesome video! I had to cut off my engine mounts from the frame and re-set them in a different location due to an engine swap. After seeing this, I should have just made new mounts! Cutting them off without impacting the frame left me with having to re-fortify the mounts anyway...
Those welds on the engine side brackets turned amazing!!! Absolutely love them. Can u tell me what type of welding wire u used and the ampere on the machine during welding?
I love watching these builds. I would have been cursing the whole time figuring out to make a bracket for that turbo lol.
Dude, that AC compressor bracket looks like its perfect for the swap on my samurai. I'd kill to have working AC, but the ALH AC compressor had to be deleted to run the lower radiator hose through that location. But the other cool thing is that block looks identical to the ALH, so maybe a PD swap is in my future.
Yes having the ac pump on this side is sweet!
Can’t wait to hear what it’s going to sound like very excited great build
Nice work, it's coming along quite well I'll stay tuned
Your skills are awesome. Please consider a Plasma Cutter for building all this stuff! Thank me later
Outstanding fab skills. You build sema quality working mans trucks.
Thanks 👍
Your welding skills are top of the line
AWESOME job, your welds are great 👍🏻 😁
Thanks 👍
Another great video. Do you have knowledge in other VW Diesel powertrains like the V6? With a tune it would bring high torque numbers.
Nice work there Austin.
Nice welds Austin! Almost looks like you are using stainless wire? Great process you went through on those mounts also....I learned somthing today!
Going to swap my single cab Tacoma 🤑
she's coming together man!
“Professor Austin, is this Fabrication and Welding 101 class?”
Haha or fab with cheap tools class
Great video, shows your talent, keep doing what your doing 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thank you!!!
Everything he did looks great
Austin what kind of mechanical background do you have? I like they way work around issues
Will having the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe in place impact starter removal and the ability to rotate the starter up like you intend? Nice welds on the frame side mounts, by the way.
thanks! yes it should clear with the turbo and downpipe installed
Hi , very good work , you have a nack for this work. thanks for sharing .
Thank you!
Awesome skills bro
Thanks!!
Don’t even need to watch the video so slam that thumbs up button!! Your content is always amazing!
I appreciate that
Wooww super great job mister 😔😔👌👍
Never disappointed bro!! Great job
Appreciate it!!
Great fab work as always..
Thank you!
good job
Man all that grinder cutting, any thought on getting a plasma cutter? Best thing I've bought for quick tabs etc.
yea i need one
Nice work!!!
Love your projects...you need to get yourself a band saw & milling machine ,it will make you life easier...and a lathe while your at it ... haahaa😊 keep up the good work, where do I buy that t-shirt your wearing?
Thanks yes I need more shop space for that!! My store www.avrcustoms.com has shirts!
@@austinniemela ok I see the store now...nice ,thanks
Hey Austin, where did you get those hydraulic motor mounts and what were they originally for?
Nice work
Just curious, do you not have a chop saw? I see you cutting a lot with an angle grinder.
I do but some things i cant use it for. I need a plasma
Looking great, do you think this will outrun the red truck? You and your brother will have to race them!
Oh yea this will beat the red one for sure
Great content.
Do you have templates of the motor mounts you made?
Hey man, I want to convert my Tacoma to a 2008 TDI . Where would I get a solid step by step layout of how to do this? Do you have any resources I could call on?
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👍
I believe in You
Respect to you! Stay humble!
Are the original VW engine mounts mounted parallel with each other or are they angled inwards say 15degrees. I’m saying this because when mounts are laying on a flat plane they can vibrate horizontally (right to left) and can flog out Prematurely from excessive sideways movement but if their mounted angled towards each other say in a 15degree wedge they can’t sway because the vibration is concentrated towards the centre of the mount like a triangle.
Or Maybe hydraulic mounts are different.
Anyway good work mate.
I guess i have not thought about that! I did this same setup on my red truck and its been fine!
@@austinniemela anyway time will tell, I think less noticeable vibration would come from slightly opposing mounting points, the engineer at my work always says vibration is a Long term machine killer, when we run dampening mounts hydraulic or annular on machines we tend to alway try to oppose one another, kind of keeping everything pointed to the centre, like front shocks are slightly angled inboard or rear shocks sometimes one facing forward and one backwards, just for keeping harmonics dynamics under control.
I do like your work even though still no Toyota diesels in sight!!
I’m a little curious, this Tacoma came with the same 3.4l 5vz that came in the 4Runner of similar years? If that’s true, why not put a 1KZ Toyota Turbo Diesel engine? In my country you can find the 4 runner with the 1KZ originally installed, why not bought it a engine from Asia or Central America?
It’s for the cost of the project? I’m asking that because you can save a lot of time in electrical, mounts, brackets... aaand have the Toyota reliability. So why?
Well that is a great engine and a good swap, but getting parts for that would be difficult. I would probably have to buy everything overseas as no parts stores in the US carry anything for them!
Would that cause any problems denting in an oil pan like that?
👏👏👏👏
is all of your welding flux core, or do you have gas tanks off camera somewhere for MIG?
if i could get flux core welds to look like that with no splatter , i'de toss my argon tank
This is mig with shielding gas!
👍
"Get your motor running..."
Question, is this a Cummins 4BT?
It’s a VW TDI
Do you think a 4bt would fit in a Toyota pickup
You might as well put a 2000lbs slab of granite in the engine bay! It’s About the same performance.
Don't beat yourself up on the starter motor mount mistake...We all make Mistakes...you were Man enuf to show us what happened.....you caught it in time to fix and yes fab everything before putting the make up on !! 👍 Looking good... Not you!! The Work!! 😉
Thank you!!
What turbo are you running?
Gtb1756!
Thanks man. I am trying to find a good top mount turbo. I have an alh and the actuator on the oem turbo hits my frame
Amazing work super satisfying and quality work keep it up
I have O C D and watching your videos is super satisfying 👍👍👍👍🥶
Awesome! Thank you!

Toyota development is jealous .
Wrong engine pick for this tacoma engine you should used is toyota 1kz-te much easier conversion and much better engine
