This is actually a great video to use as a pitch when trying to get friends into tf2 for the first time! Nice job, do have to mention though that the audio is a delayed in some sections. Not sure if this happened when recording the raw files or during the editing process but def something to look into
Before I ever played TF2 or knew really anything about it, the only thing I had seen about the game was "the most fashionable Faction of TF2" by the stupendium so when I played the game I was surprised 😂
i played training mode with bots for my first 100 hours cuz i was scared that i'd make my team loose by being a noob and also my first two games were on 2fort (when i got spawn-camped by a heavy) and hightower (where i was spawn-camped by a troldier) so that didn't seem fun at the time
This is the game I have played the most in my life. I mean, I have been playing it since its launch in 2007. Can you believe that? It has been 17 years already! Still as fun as it has always been.
I have now reached 1500 hours on this game and I can't explain how much this game is worth trying. I started playing in 2017 and since then I have been loving this game for all it's gamemodes and loadouts you can make, it has everything you need in a FPS and it's cool that it has a deep lore to it aswell. Just look it up and try it out, I will promise you that you will experience a good time and a wild ride if you get into the lore aswell. Love TF2 and I hope it never dies.
I have 6,272 hours currently, started in 2010. I think its a much harder game to get into now from a skill perspective at least, I feel like you're kind of forced into finding hats, ragdolls, and quirkier gamemodes funny as against experience that's all you'll see until you build up sturdy core skills. It's really interesting seeing a new players take on the game after giving it what seems like a decent shot in 2023. Seeing what you've picked up on, and what you think you've picked up on, realising the games depth while hardly scratching its surface. I hope you keep at it, there's a reason people like me haven't put the game down since picking it up almost 15 years ago. Happy to answer questions if you have any if it means you can enjoy the game even more or just clear up confusions you may have
I also have over 6,000 hours and I still find ragdolls and quirky moments funny. Literally just the other day I was laughing at a spy ragdoll that did a backflip after I meatshot his upper torso as scout. (Side note for those unfamiliar with the term: A meatshot is when you connect all the pellets of a shotgun/scattergun shot for max damage.) I don't think new players are forced into finding that sort of thing funny, I think that sort of thing is just inherently funny. And it's practically built into the community at this point. I've been playing since 2011 and the community hasn't really changed a whole lot in those aspects since then.
Spy is cookie clicker but you cause others pain, and the cookie is about 6 times harder to click and autoclickers are not allowed. And the cookie does not want to be clicked and actively moves around, like a dog looking for their owner in Las Vagas.
When I first started a scout kept killing me with the baseball bat, so I thought it was OP. Also I didn't know how to switch classes without joining a new server.
the game was fun before we left and it never changed. so its just as fun as you left. we didint get bored, we left for new games that got updates every season making it impossible to play casually because you need to constantly learn new things. and if you did "get bored" you just needed a break from the game
Just started two months ago, and good God the first ten hour was really challenging, the learning curve is pretty hard lol, but I am happy that I can finally play the game that I've always wanted to play since I was a kid
Oh yeah, even up to this day, this game has managed to preserve one of its most magical qualities the majority of gaming franchises have lost nowadays - being relaxed. It's a true casual experience: no public statistics of your wins and losses, no forced daily challenges, no time limited battle passes, no intrusive ads, no penalties for leaving a game, no heavy impact from a single player so you're not forced to play meta to win, no forced importance of winning so the entire server can abandon the goal and just dance in a konga line until the timer runs out... It's the true spirit of freedom and fun.
Seeing my video flash on the screen for two seconds jump scared me lmfao, nice video though. It was a good synopsis of the general appeal and design of tf2 as a whole
noob spy is actually infinitely valuable as it lets you roam and learn the map without getting insta-killed by....everything. like you'll be absolutely useless to your team (unless youre willing to go in voice/text chat and do actual information gathering recon) but all in all a good way to get some game sense, learn usual engie/sniper spots, chokes, spawnpoints
I still remember playing overwatch first and thinking “Well, the games are supposedly similar, and this game came out like 10 years later, so surely it’s better” Then in tried TF2 and was like “Oh, this game is actually fun though”
0:18 bringing that up made me think back to when i started in September of 2020, right after the f2p mute update, the highest bot count, and the lowest case and map quality with very low player counts. To cut the rant short, i dont know why i stayed here, but im glad i did :) its been alot of fun.
as someone who's been playing since 2013 and has 6k hours, everytime one of my friends goes "how does this work/how do i play this" i get this brief moment where im like "bro how did you not know this" then i realize that this game doesnt show you how any parts of it work and ive just spent 10 years of my life on this stupid game bloat in this game is crazy
Fun story: I sometimes play with a friend (I have 30 hours and he has only like 2 hours lol) as a pocket Medic and Heavy combo, the first time we played together, i ubered him and he walked onto a corner and stayed there because he had like 30 hp (He didn't know what an uber was)
installed tf2 and its the first fps game and multiplayer game ive ever played. pretty good game. also i love how the character personalities fit in with how you play them. scout requires a lot of confidence, engineer needs you to stay calm under pressure and micromanage, medic needs to constantly think about priorities and whatnot, and so on for the rest
The reason or rather reasons why TF2 is still popular is because 1- It is quick to boot up and get into a game 2- It doesn't have bugs/glitches that result in game crashes 3- It's mechanics have remained unchanged for years (People like familiarity and not having to re-learn how to play a class because some asshole on the dev team decided to make some change) 4- When you launch the game you're straight into the action, there is no annoying grind to deal with in other games like rust where you have to gather resources, build a base and research weapons before you get into the flow of the game. 5- There is always room to improve your skills. With many classes the skill ceiling is very high so usually that means there is always something to strive for. For example as soldier as a new player the first goal is perhaps your first kill, then your first kill while you're air born, then your first air shot kill, then your first juggle where you shoot an enemy into the air and air shot them, then your first kill where you rocket jump across the map and get your first critical shovel kill, then your first rocket jump critical shovel mid air kill. 6- It's a free game 7- It is simple and easy to understand, there are no complex building systems and there is very little learning required in terms of knowing what the classes are able to do. 8- Even if you don't like the game you can still make money from trading
@0:40 I wouldn't describe it as unbalanced. Any player who knows how to play a class can do reasonably well regardless of class, maybe Heavy is the one exception since he's easy to bully. But I wouldn't say the strange physics or coding choices make the game unbalanced. Now if we want to ralk about specific class weapon balance within itself, like arguing for any Medic primary that isn't the crossbow, that's a point I see merit to.
Not only that, but also claiming at the end that people from Valorant, LoL or Overwatch are more competitive and should come to TF2 for a casual experience is hilarious. Besides the MOBA being in a completely different and incomparable genre, TF2 is more complex than the other two in every metric I can think of. TF2 has long been hijacked by "wholesome uwu happy vibe" types which definitely contribute to the casual appearance, but underneath is a solid game.
As someone who played OW for a long time, I see where he's coming from. QP is an incredible sweatfest and people don't know how to just play a game for the sake of enjoying the game rather than needing to be the next pro player. TF2 casual has most people there for a chill shooting gallery and it shows in how the community reacts to suboptimal (but funny) playstyles.
@user-wj1go8gq2y I certainly don't wish to argue that the blutsauger's good. HOWEVER, is it good enough to be compared to the crossbow? That's my point. Sure, you COULD choose the axetinguisher or the postal pummler, but then you're forfeiting the opportunity cost of running the Power Jack. Sure, you COULD run the Dakolas Bar, but then you're not running banana or sandvich.
Heck yes. Think about it this way. As the crossbow is for teammates, the blutsauger is for yourself. If your team doesn't defend you, or your aim with crossbows is horrendous(like mine) the blutsauger is better because it can help with survivability, especially if whoever you were healing dies, and you are now being chased by someone with lower health. Dakolas bar and power jack cannot be compared to each other or the blutsauger. Dakolas bar is better if there's a lot of small damage spam, since you can get constant healing. It's less about your team and more about making sure you are (near) full health at all times. Powerjack is a utility, not used for damage, while extinguisher is supposed to be for comboing in close range, especially in maps with tight corners. So, yes, these weapons, when utilized correctly, are good enough to be compared to the "meta" for their respective slots. It just depends on your team/playstyle.@@WillieDangerously
Imma be honest, getting rekt is the best part of the game... You learn, and it makes getting kills feel so much better... Hell, I recently got my first domination playing demoman (I main him), and it felt SO Good!!!
Great video but you forgot to cover my favorite class, Madcap. This class is difficult for new players but the grease gun can make you play like a very fast heavy and deal lots of damage
before I watch the video , I just wanted to say that most of the new players are getting the hang on what to do in community servers , !givemeall servers , afk servers , fast drop servers where alltalk is enabled , so they can ask question , like "the shortstop sucks , yet its my only drop , how should I use it" and then they meet with 2 different answers , its always nice to see that one salty mf being helpful to a 9 year old.
i started recently too but i had the benefit of a decade of being active in the fanbase of tf2 outside of the game itself (including watching analysis videos and such - i think lazypurple alone is the guy who convinced me to buy a device which i could actually play on). even with this prior knowledge and fluency of the culture? the learning curve is still hitting me with a couple hundred hours! though i will say it didnt take me fucking long to get a sixth-sense for spies
Does anyone remember is the very early days when Med could boost teammates upwards? He could shoot teammates from beneath them and it would give them some height. I miss the puzzle maps with that mechanic.
When i first started tf2 way back in 2013 all i did was play 2fort everyday. My life was pretty much, go to school, come home, 2fort, repeat. Until I discovered mvm, then other maps. Then a whole new world opened up
Good video! I've been a fan of tf2 for a long time, I have it installed, but I've never actually balled up the courage to play it with other human beings. Especially since I would probably wind up being an engie or medic main. XD
I played TF2 for the first time a week ago. I knew what I was doing well enough because I watched a few RUclips videos on how to play and what to expect. Joined a community Skial 2fort lobby. And had fun. As a one time player. My advice. Is to watch some RUclips videos.
I love that new players coming to this IMMORTAL game. Games like OW trying to make them look like super cool pR0 pLaUeR competitive hardcore games, while robbing their players. There is lot of games that also has a cartoon style, and they are fun. Rly, they are. But TF2.... It's just another lvl. A whole new lvl that modern games cannot reach. I know I sounds like old fart (Im 18), but it's just true (most, ik there is still lot of cool games).
I’ve watched a whole ton of Tf2 videos so I think I’ll be fairly good at it as a newbie. And I also recently rediscovered typical colours 2 on roblox so yeah.
I am a new TF2 player. I only have a few hundred hours, and I’ve made the conscious decision to… main Spy. I’m not new to pvp or shooter games, as I’m an ex competitive Splatoon player and have around 3k hours across 2 and 3. I’ve noticed that playing Splatoon pisses me off so severely because of my gameplay not meeting my standards, so that I don’t have fun when playing for an extended period of time. My love for the franchise is slowly weaning, unfortunately. TF2, on the other hand, is a blast regardless of how awful I’m playing. Even though I’m basically doing nothing all match because I insist on playing Spy and am getting wrecked by players who have several times my experience in the game, it’s a lot more enjoyable. Maybe it’s because I’m still learning, or maybe it’s because I’m already addicted to the occasional trickstabs I pull. Regardless, I’m glad that TF2 is still around for newbies like me. I look forward to when I’ve developed my skills more, so that one day I can terrorize my friends who introduced me to the game.

This is actually a great video to use as a pitch when trying to get friends into tf2 for the first time!
Nice job, do have to mention though that the audio is a delayed in some sections. Not sure if this happened when recording the raw files or during the editing process but def something to look into
0:37once you are in you can never get out, there is no turning back(j)
Before I ever played TF2 or knew really anything about it, the only thing I had seen about the game was "the most fashionable Faction of TF2" by the stupendium so when I played the game I was surprised 😂
i have like 5 hours on sniper and i just shoot aimlessly with the huntsman hoping that one of the arrows hit something
tf2 lover here 1.5k hrs I love it, i hate my life, its pure suffering, i never have fun however i've sunk too much time into it to quit
i played training mode with bots for my first 100 hours cuz i was scared that i'd make my team loose by being a noob
and also my first two games were on 2fort (when i got spawn-camped by a heavy) and hightower (where i was spawn-camped by a troldier) so that didn't seem fun at the time
I already knew all of this but you managed to keep me engaged
nice work
This is the game I have played the most in my life.
New players POV: [Chat communication is unavailable for this account.] *Dies after exits the base.*
@@spiritfox123 Oh 100% it's naturally funny, even when I did comp i'd write ragdolls back into the configs so I can see them haha
Agreed. I'm a F2P so pending alerts is interesting.
I got a Valorent player to play TF2 and they were complaining how red team was spawn camping.
We were playing payload by the way
Watching that medic section with just ubering heavys was... painful
Also I didn't know how to switch classes without joining a new server.
the game was fun before we left and it never changed. so its just as fun as you left.
we didint get bored, we left for new games that got updates every season making it impossible to play casually because you need to constantly learn new things.
and if you did "get bored" you just needed a break from the game
i love how you transition into talking about each mercs
Just started two months ago, and good God the first ten hour was really challenging, the learning curve is pretty hard lol, but I am happy that I can finally play the game that I've always wanted to play since I was a kid
pocketing heavy is misinformation. it’s better to pocket soldiers and demos, if they know what they’re doing
Nuh uh i want too recreat meet the medic
@@sebastiantorres7138sir your Uber lasts for 8 seconds and there aren't a million soldiers in front of you
TF2 players are clinically insane, I would know, I'm one of them.
Due to its ridiculous amount of negatives to pair with those positives, it could even be called a "broken masterpiece."
@@Loner098 the amount of passion, effort, time, and care that was put into the foundation and main structure of the game more than compensates for it.
I still remember playing overwatch first and thinking
“Well, the games are supposedly similar, and this game came out like 10 years later, so surely it’s better”
Then in tried TF2 and was like
“Oh, this game is actually fun though”
0:18 bringing that up made me think back to when i started in September of 2020, right after the f2p mute update, the highest bot count, and the lowest case and map quality with very low player counts.
To cut the rant short, i dont know why i stayed here, but im glad i did :) its been alot of fun.
Not to mention right now is one of the best times for new players to play tf2 as Scream Fortress has came out
damn man, i wanted to start making the same video today, and then i look and the video was already made, but hey you did it better then i ever could!
as someone who's been playing since 2013 and has 6k hours, everytime one of my friends goes "how does this work/how do i play this" i get this brief moment where im like "bro how did you not know this" then i realize that this game doesnt show you how any parts of it work and ive just spent 10 years of my life on this stupid game
bloat in this game is crazy
Fun story: I sometimes play with a friend (I have 30 hours and he has only like 2 hours lol) as a pocket Medic and Heavy combo, the first time we played together, i ubered him and he walked onto a corner and stayed there because he had like 30 hp (He didn't know what an uber was)
Wow you've made quite a bunch of uploads about different games, and I play all but 2 of em
in like 2020 i remember trying tf2 and getting absolutly steam rolled in 2022 i tryed it again an have played it ever since
installed tf2 and its the first fps game and multiplayer game ive ever played. pretty good game.
also i love how the character personalities fit in with how you play them. scout requires a lot of confidence, engineer needs you to stay calm under pressure and micromanage, medic needs to constantly think about priorities and whatnot, and so on for the rest
demo requires you to be drunk and spy requires you to be egotistical
@@godofportal5905This exactly!
The reason or rather reasons why TF2 is still popular is because
1- It is quick to boot up and get into a game
2- It doesn't have bugs/glitches that result in game crashes
3- It's mechanics have remained unchanged for years (People like familiarity and not having to re-learn how to play a class because some asshole on the dev team decided to make some change)
4- When you launch the game you're straight into the action, there is no annoying grind to deal with in other games like rust where you have to gather resources, build a base and research weapons before you get into the flow of the game.
6- It's a free game
7- It is simple and easy to understand, there are no complex building systems and there is very little learning required in terms of knowing what the classes are able to do.
8- Even if you don't like the game you can still make money from trading
bruh engineer is really not as hard to deal with as you make it out to be , a single soldier or a demo can ruin an engineers day
The fully charged body shot also one shots medics too!
4:50 Interesting I've recently started playing this game, I choose the spy dude, I always go straight for the snipers unless I see the Pyros.
Aha! So, I am doing things correctly, but I thought you said the enemy team doesn't go for snipers...
I started last year and was hooked immediately. I found the game from RUclips so I already had some knowledge and accepted I was gonna fail a lot.
(imagine a really deep voice) the blutsauger is a good weapon and you cannot argue with me because I main medic
Really nice video, with nice editing
i played this game for around 20 hours and, yeah, this game is insane
Imma be honest, getting rekt is the best part of the game... You learn, and it makes getting kills feel so much better...
Hell, I recently got my first domination playing demoman (I main him), and it felt SO Good!!!
Great video but you forgot to cover my favorite class, Madcap. This class is difficult for new players but the grease gun can make you play like a very fast heavy and deal lots of damage
Aw shucks I thought it died 😭
The hell's madcap
The only thing new players see is the respawn timer
before I watch the video , I just wanted to say that most of the new players are getting the hang on what to do in community servers , !givemeall servers , afk servers , fast drop servers where alltalk is enabled , so they can ask question , like "the shortstop sucks , yet its my only drop , how should I use it" and then they meet with 2 different answers , its always nice to see that one salty mf being helpful to a 9 year old.
i started recently too but i had the benefit of a decade of being active in the fanbase of tf2 outside of the game itself (including watching analysis videos and such - i think lazypurple alone is the guy who convinced me to buy a device which i could actually play on). even with this prior knowledge and fluency of the culture? the learning curve is still hitting me with a couple hundred hours! though i will say it didnt take me fucking long to get a sixth-sense for spies
Does anyone remember is the very early days when Med could boost teammates upwards? He could shoot teammates from beneath them and it would give them some height. I miss the puzzle maps with that mechanic.
The glitch with the syringe gun?
@@liveinalift yeah! I really wish they would’ve left it in. Boosting an engine to get a sneaky tele was awesome.
For the longest amount of time I thought tf2 was boom beach
For me am living in this community for 200 hour and i can confirm its one of the best moment and time in my life
When i first started tf2 way back in 2013 all i did was play 2fort everyday. My life was pretty much, go to school, come home, 2fort, repeat. Until I discovered mvm, then other maps. Then a whole new world opened up
Valve said “Nah uh”
I say the only thing that can save overwatch 2 is Jeff. He's the only one
I have little under 4000 hours this is still TF2
5:20 the right answer is what FPS games does allow you to do so
the title of the video has relevance to a minute of the video. the rest is an overview of each class. bruh.
Good video! I've been a fan of tf2 for a long time, I have it installed, but I've never actually balled up the courage to play it with other human beings. Especially since I would probably wind up being an engie or medic main. XD
tf2 feels like the internet where other games feels sanitized
The only redeeming qualities of overwatch is that they a have big gorila that can speak english.
Soldier and Demo is the hardest class to play.
I’m a new player. I still play the game for about 1 year already
This video is relaxing, I wasn't able to play the game for few months, still can't 😢
I played TF2 for the first time a week ago.
I knew what I was doing well enough because I watched a few RUclips videos on how to play and what to expect.
Joined a community Skial 2fort lobby.
And had fun.
As a one time player. My advice.
Is to watch some RUclips videos.
Why were these segment transition so nice
As a new tf2 player this is true
Even if I already tried the game. You’ll be the same until you improve hours and hours ofc😂😂😂❤❤
I play TF2 mostly for Mann vs Machine than multiplayer anyways 💀
I’m kinda new to tf2, and man it is not fun to be lumped in with players that have 10,000 hours on the game 😭
Spys is not that useless.Spy has the ability to distract the entire enemy team and can sabotage the enginner pretty good
And that really important kill (Medic or Sniper)
When I heard about the bot crisis, I thought it's just a random unhamful stupid bots, lol
