Just some perspective: The monks who are doing these long prayers are still doing more good than most of us.
I used to feel a sense of superiority to the people who who are used as bad examples in the Saints stories. Now I hear this and feel weak because I can barely manage my short prayer rule.
With a little correction these monks can direct their devotion properly and become Saints.
I have access to the correcting words of thousands of Saints, but I haven’t beat one passion.
