12:23 I can completely understand why people say sword and shield is a boring weapon, but my God is it so satisfying to use. I have saved so many people with it and the ability to put down traps and use items immediately made it where I’m not sure if I can use another weapon.
sword and shield is both ends of the end of the bell curve, the skill floor is low and anyone can use, but the skill ceiling is one of the highest and it requires timing and thinking, especially in a group
Gs is boring af and im tired of denying it. You wait until you can over commit to a charge, hit the monster (or not) and run away, then repeat. There's a certain satisfaction in hitting the monster with a true charged slash and seeing him staggered, but that's all.
@@bluefiredemon448 the mh community does this really cool thing where they act like one weapon is significantly more complex or easy or whatnot but theyre all very similar in a lot of ways 😂

I gotta disagree with focus mode being an easier way to play the game. its basically tenderizing redone in a good way. Something even great players still used in world
i think the skillcurve of focus mode is gonna be how quickly u can enter in then execute what u wanna do, minimizing the time ur in focus mode will make the moves focus mode allows more useful i think
@@reater78 Those attacks can just be added to certain stages of weapon combos, and the wound system allowing extra damage when hitting them can also just be done normally. They're is no need for a Focus Mode. All it seems to be good at is breaking the flow of your own combat.
I was a total lancebro in Tri. Countering all day every day. Then World tweaked the shield charge and leaping thrust and made it a _shockingly_ mobile weapon. Near 100% uptime. Always on the offense. Poke dodge counter slap. Monster fall down.
Lance has evolved so much over the years: poke poke poke parry. poke poke poke parry. The infinite loop of “I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m not dying” 😎
Fucking true. CB can do a lot of things but in the end, you just do the same 3 moves anyways if you want to do the most damage. People that say it's a hard weapon are the ones who actually don't know what they're doing.
For those of us with time in the series, it does seem simple, but many action games only require you to spam one or two buttons in no necessary order to be successful in combat. In MH, you can have up to around 5 buttons that you need to mix and match in order to get somewhere on CB, all with various timings and combinations that would only feel natural to someone coming from a fighter
It's only people that dont play it that say that. It really is. It's a 20 minute with the training dummy, a couple hunts and you're good to go. Then it's just learning the monsters for guard points. And as for the comment above mine... yeah there are a lot of people that suck at MH that play MH. You shouldn't play that way with any weapon. SnS is much harder to master than CB
we had a saying back in 4th gen and older and it was that every single veteren hunter always had a pocket SnS. once you've hit the peak of knowledge in monster hunter the SnS becomes ridiculously overpowered

I don't think anyone has called it a support weapon since World dropped. It's just not that flashy compared to other weapons, so it takes a real saint to pick one up.
Would you believe it? In World, I once jumped into a hunt with three other horn blowers! We built a concert hall on that poor ice dragon's broken, mangled corpse. Honestly, it was so unfair, I kind of hope the HH remains obscure.
you'd think the lance with its greatest defence capabilities would be laid back and relax. the lance is actually the most aggressive weapon in the entire line up, and you never stop attacking, not because you need the dps, but because you can
play lance! in my opinion is the most versatile weapon in this game since world, lance has the best guard move that can block even the most dangerous attack that other weapon can't even block (ehem teostra supernova ehem), all your move can be cancelled into guard dash, guarding while dashing into the safe spot, so if you are about to get hit, just guard dash into safety, not all weapon can do this cancelling move except longsword, most of them are lock in an animation and also theres a gem/perk, where if you time your guard perfectly with the monster attack, you will get damage buff, which is quite insane
Those aee my 2 favorite as well. Startsd SA when it was introduced in Tri. I remember playing online and only ever seeing 2 others use it. Ppl back then thought it was to complicated. I picked CB when it was introduced an fell in love with it just like the SA
@@asumax8 I wish I would of played monster hunter back then. When I owned a switch I bought Gen4 Ultimate to play but never finished it. And sold my switch lol
The reason the games feel "Clunky" is because the game has a strong focus on intentionality. It isn't a game for.button mashers, it's a game for people who want to learn. Devil may cry already exists. We don't need every single attack to combo into another attack or cancel into a dodge. They already have trouble balancing the monsters vs the hunters. The stronger the hunters are the more they have to add stupid shit like stagger, stun, grapples. The best we ever had it was 4, so the closer we are to 4 the better our experience will be.
@@cokecan6169 I don't like the idea of more speed on their part. I want less speed on ours. Because Rise is effectively what you're describing and it was miserable and felt like a completely different series. I almost quit the series completely after Rise.
My two favorite weapons are the Switch Axe and the Lance but they require very different approaches and mentality. The Switch Axe is all about aggression, you need to play with the mentality that "you aren't trapped in the map with the monster the monster is trapped in the map with you". Its a weapon that rewards hyper aggression and learning the monsters move set so you can take advantage and be even more aggressive without getting hit. In the right hands its one of the most aggressive weapons in the game. The Lance is all about patience, you need to play with the mentality that "you near invincible and eventually... inevitably... you will slay the monster". Its a weapon that you need to learn to block often and early, you need to master your weapons limited move set, and you need to learn the monsters move set. Its probably the most defensive weapon in the game.
I have the opposite opinion of Lance. I see it as a hyper-aggressive weapon that never needs to back off for any reason, be it danger, positioning, cooldowns, or resource management. Shrug off everything and keep poking in situations where another weapon would either need to dodge out of the way and reposition or use a long counter animation to retaliate at the cost of positioning. Even when the monster tries to flee, just hug its back legs and keep poking. Only thing that can stop a Lance main is sharpness degredation.
@FullmentalAlcoomist The easiest weapon to pick up traditionally is the sword and shield. It is the only weapon that allows you to drink health potions and use items without first holstering your weapon. Sword and shield gives you the best mix of defense, dodge, and utility. Its move set is quick to pick up but mastering it requires a lot of effort. If you end up not liking it after your first few monster kills then i'd suggest going to the training area (there is usually one in your home or the hub area) were you can test out all the weapons and figure out which move set feels the most natural. I'd avoid the charge blade though... it is renown for being the most complicated weapon to use properly with several meters and vials you need to keep track of which can be difficult for a new or even intermediate player to grasp.
@@randommortal3383 I main both as well (great taste you've got there). Something about both weapons just clicks and they feel incredibly easy to control. Now hunting horn... That thing scares me.
CB is harder then IG because there is much more emphasis on timing to execute the weapon correctly and there are higher skill ceiling techs like guard points that just don't exist with IG. IG is hella fun but the hardest part about the weapon is consistently gathering your extracts so you can just continue wailing on the monster. I do agree though that hunting horn scares me more then CB does but this might just be me never really giving the weapon a true attempt.
@@kylesmith987 honestly, glaive has severely underrated damage potential. Half of the weapon is the kinsect. Powder type kinsects that are set on auto attack paired with powder vortex can dish out obscene damage. Especially when well timed leading to dunks and enormous burst damage. Also, effectively aerial and ground movesets and fighting styles are two completely seperate things resulting in a weapon with effectively 3 parts to it. Thats my reasoning in saying they're of similiar difficulty. The glaive is no walk in the park to get the most out of, just like CB and GPs.
the focus mode is definitely gonna bused alot by the high skill players because this is just like when we used to have styles they may look like they dumb it down but all its doing making it so u can have even more complexity with combos and such im very excited for this stuff
The Hunting Horn and Gunlance improved a lot compared to their old games. Too bad Asmon didn't get to react to Dual Blades, my fav weapon for numbers grinder got put in last
18:30 Monster Hunter Rise isn't exactly arcade-like, but it's designed around combat and its core gameplay loop rather than immersion, as seen in Monster Hunter World. Rise features the most intuitive and advanced combat mechanics in the series, with each weapon offering three sets of two switch skills that are interchangeable, dramatically altering how the weapon performs (e.g., Surge Slash for the Great Sword). Additionally, Rise maintains the colorful and uniquely designed weapons and armor that are a hallmark of the series, embracing a more traditional "local village hunter" setting and also brings back popular monsters like Gore Magala, Valstrax, Mizutsune, and Amatsu. Rise also improves build crafting mechanics significantly, making almost all archetypes of armor and weapon builds useful and easier to obtain(ignoring Qurious Crafting) as the game features the traditional crafting of decorations and RNG charms, unlike World’s system. Moreover, Rise boasts fully traversable maps and some of the best-designed monster fights in the series, such as Primordial Malzeno. Many criticisms of Rise seem unfounded. For instance, the fact that it released on the Switch being a issue despite the franchise historically releasing on mobile consoles . Additionally, the "cartoon-like" art style is consistent with the series' previous aesthetics before World. It’s important to note that each Monster Hunter game builds upon its predecessors, striving to enhance the classic formula. If you’re trying to form an opinion on Rise, consider that those who have only played world or played a insignificant amount of time on Rise might not fully appreciate its merits. -In short Rise is 5th Gen classic monster hunter and World is the black sheep of the franchise.
I'd argue that World is much closer to old gen mh in its continued emphasis on positioning and consequential combat. Rise differs in its comparatively non-restrictive movement and combat, and uses a wide range of invulnerable moves and counters to make good timing the main key to improvement. While the same moves and movements take away from the consequences of bad positioning, combat is still equally fulfilling thanks to resource management via wirebugs and faster-paced combat. This makes Rise an excellent gateway for action game players to get into MH, as well as a way for long-time vets to experience the series in a completely new light.
Rise is definitely arcade-like. World couldnt keep the original more colorful designs due to needing to model a better hd model for the next gen console. That's why players were content with what they got for worlds (that doesnt mean there werent any complaints that many of the beloved monsters didnt return and the models for weapons and armors were too boring). While world removed tracking with paintballs, it replaced it with actual tracking for early game and once the player has hunt enough of a certain monster the tracking becomes automatic. Rise however had a brilliant idea of removing it entirely and have a tracking function on an always displayed minimap that shows the whole map. I think when people are complaing that rise is too arcadey its not a disservice, or a complaint towards the game but telling people how they see the game. A lot of people just felt that Worlds had a better display of hunting it self in preparation, tracking and slaying/capturing the monsters. Even during battle with a monster, monsters were something so be respected in Worlds. The camera panning into the fight between two monsters. The third one coming in bombing the whole area. You either take three of them at once, or throw dung to clear up the area. Positioning becomes more cluttered as more monsters come into the battle. In Rise, it felt like most monsters were just spongier bigger monsters as well as a weapon to be used instead of the monster that it is. Positioning wasnt that hard to do due to the forgiving nature of wirebugs and how mobile all weapons are. While most of what I stated about gameplay can't be stated for post-post-game content, but getting there certainly feels more arcadey in my eyes. MH worlds feels more closer to MH 1,2,3 to me than it is 4 and above when compared to rise. It just feels unnaturally fast. I liked both games though.
When it comes to the guns theres some great guides from Phemeto and AngBata but i'll simplify 1 - Check the Recoil and Reload of the ammo type you want to use. (pick one from Normal 3/Pierce 3/Spread 3/ Sticky 3) 2 - Prioritize getting that one ammo type to low/lowest. 3 - only bring extra ammo for no more than 5 ammo types. 4 - Bring the materials to craft that main ammo type and the gun becomes much easier to manage.
In response to the fluidity of motion he's talking about: the animations get better every generation and it looks they have improved again with what we've seen so far; perhaps not drastically but we can see the polish.
I think it's less about the animations and more about the hunter's immediate range of motion. After a greatsword charge slash, for example, your only options are to continue the combo or roll in one of three directions (at least, that used to be the case). New players, especially ones coming from fast-paced action games, are usually used to omnidirectional movement at all times and aren't accustomed to having significant consequences for throwing out attacks, so being locked into a limited range of motion (especially with how slow hunters are to begin with) can definitely feel clunky. Once you do master good positioning and conservative movement in Monster Hunter, that's when you realize that the combat wouldn't be nearly as rewarding without it.
Focus mode is just the new clutch claw, it's not "dumbing it down". If anything you'll probably have to abuse it for best times like the clutch claw and wall bangs.
Literally nothing like clutch claw at all and I have no idea where you got it from. Focus mode has attacks that can capitalize on the wounds you already inflict automatically, and actually synergizes well with each weapon's movepool. The only difference between it and a regular move thay just happens to deal bonus damage on a cooldown is the novelty of being able to aim it. No drawbacks, no need to spend 20 seconds trying to grab onto the monster and successfully use a move without getting hit, just another way for a weapon to make use of longer windows of opportunity. Helm Breaker on LS is similar: always available, but naturally becomes viable over time, and allows you to exploit big windows with a big move. You're just suffering clutch claw ptsd, and I hope you recover in time to enjoy Wilds. 😊

Like Rise and World definitely toned it down when it comes to Massive monsters.
I've got to say that the hammer DESIGN in this is one of the most strange/unique designs I've ever seen for a weapon. The best part is it makes sense with how big the monsters are you could probably actually get a brain that size.
Once you figure out SnS, there is no going back. It's just built different in terms of how fun and effective it is. And don't get me started on parry shoryugeki in Rise. On god, you feel like the biggest badass there ever was dropping a giant dragon out of the air with one move on base game (I forgot her name mb). I still can't get over how lame they look tho. Hoping capcom would collab with Goblin Slayer so people would know I may not look badass, but monsters should definitely fear me.
Sword and Board actually looks amazing compared to before. Looks like it has a counter, and a lot of different situational follow up attacks. Seems like it will be a very flexible weapon with an answer to every attack. I'm a Hammer main, but I'm considering Glaive or SNS for 2nd weapon
rise is the only game that pissed me off. mainly because they nerfed blast and other status effects so hard. still manage to get to atleast MR100 before quitting. world is better
Honestly this is the most based way I've seen someone hate on Rise. I love abusing statuses, so losing that in Rise was a bit of a letdown. Still inherently one of the best games I've every played due to being MH.
Of course World is better, it's a main title. Rise is a side experience in which they can try some new stuff and then implement them in the future main title aka Wilds. Still a great game overall, just a worst game than World.
wdym they nerfed blast? The majority of endgame sets in Rise include blast via armor skills because it's incredibly efficient damage for the shorter hunt times in that game. Paralysis is still broken af. Poison is weak but only because monsters die too fast. Sleep is also similarly weak because you lose more time than you gain to setup wakeup for double damage bursts.
7:00 - I fell in love with the Charge Blade on my first character in "World", and though I used a few different weapons over my time between that game, and "Rise", it remained my favourite. Sure; Insect Glaive/Dual Blades look fancy and chip pieces off the monsters, Hammer and great Sword are nice big-hitters. To me, nothing beats the style, grace, and utility of the Charge Blade. Tanky as fuck while staying mobile with the shield/light weapon combo because you can block everything incl. Status effects as long as you keep your stamina up and direct your blocks properly. Smooth animations that have often even allowed me to dodge attacks just by me being mid-swing and hit-boxes being nice. Let's not forget the extreme satisfaction of charging the axe for a full spinning head attack, and watching the charged explosions ripple through the monster as it collapses. People rip on Asmon for only really using Great Sword and just big-dicking it front on. For me, because I had never really used the Great Sword or the hammer initially - I found it a challenge getting used to the slow movement and subsequent vulnerability - seeing him just charge up and swing away like Jaoquin Phoenix in Signs actually inspired me to try the heavier weapons, and I learnt to enjoy them. Don't like the way he plays? Why are watching him? Just play the game yourself, dummies :)
@@Saeid-yh1erit’s harder than you might expect. It’s short and requires you to constantly go for the monsters head. You can “use” it very easily but if you are not playing well and don’t make the best of every knockout your dps is going to suck and the fight will take forever
You're oversimplifying the use of focus mode greatly. It's not just an accessibility feature for new players, but a blend of some new and past sytems without being clunky. It has so much baked into it like stance changes, mobility options, animation lock workarounds and tenderizing support. All on top of the increased utility that the enhanced aiming provides. You might not use it, I've seen how little you tenderized and tackled in World, and to each their own but I feel high level players will definitely be taking advantage of this in Wilds.
I love the Charge Blade just for the fact you already have 2 very different weapon in one. People keeps saying that it is an expert weapon, but that's only true if you want to use all the extra features like instant block, etc. Using the very swift sword & shield + the heavy & brutal axe is quite simple, and the only thing is to remember to discharge the energy into phials ... which become almost automatic after a couple of hour (you tend to charge de phial even if there is nothing to charge). And once you're confortable with the main features, you wan look into charging the blade (never have to care about sharpening your weapon anymore), position where the instant block is avaible, etc.
Asmon really just be yapping and not knowing anything💀they removed the clutch claw tenderize mechanic for focus mode. I think this will be harder simply cause they are moving and we don’t know how fast monsters will be, at least clutch claw you can cling on and do it fast and done. Idk what asmon be talking about
"Fast and done" like you don't automatically tenderize the monster for free now. Also, clutch claw finishers seem relatively weak compared to focus mode attacks, so having to spend time clutching to a monster and praying you don't get flung off just so you can wound a part is in no way easier or better than a big-damage move that'll likely be your best option during large windows anyway.
While it's true that it's kind of boring, Sword and Shield will always be my favourite weapon because it saved me from all the unnecessary crap the devs added into the old games. And I find it really funny that it's the only weapon that doesn't need an update since the first Monster Hunter game.
kind of sad but completely understandable why people call SnS a "boring weapon", it looks really boring on the outside, just a shortsword and a shield, but when you actually use it properly oh man its so good, you can build it for ANYTHING, support SnS? you got it, element damage? oh yeah, raw damage? of course, need stuns? i got you bro. its so flexible and so satisfying to actually use, i LOVED base world SnS (didnt like perfect rush being added and the damage meta becoming too insane so kind of lost interest after that) and i cannot wait to play it more, loved doing SOS missions using support status SnS, also behemoth was so fun to do as support!
Lance is the most badass weapon. What can possibly be cooler than a giant fucking monster throwing hands at you with all his force just to you to be like 🛡🗿 It's a different kind of satisfaction when you see your group being destroyed by an attack and you just face tank it like nothing when it's on you
Wish we get more breath attacks like Fatty's cone of doom in Iceborne. Nothing beat throwing myself between a wall of fire and a teammate and both of us walking out unscathed.
The focus mode actually looks neat, like it will open up some of the team play when grouping up. Anyone can "wound" a monster seemingly anywhere if they hit that spot enough times. Focus mode attacks deal better damage to those wounds and also weak spots. For example a team could hit the tail a lot and then have a great sword user try and cut it off by hitting several wounds all in one go.
As an OG MH player from the PS2 era, the accessibility for new players is great...but it also opens up more issues between veterans and new players because of the move towards casuals. In the originals you couldn't move and use items, you didn't have mounts, hunts were harder generally outside of that etc. and World/Icebourne and Rise have made the series quite casual and easy in comparison. All of that said, I don't see it as an issue because I still play mainly solo - and when I play with people it's my friend's. What I think MH and Capcom can do to combat the casual comments and such is to find a good balance between the new casualness with extremely difficult monsters and battles.
I'm just tired of seeing Gen 5 G-Rank players be more clueless than Low Rank players from every Gen before. There's clearly an issue with players being able to brute force progression and not learn anything.
As a Light Bowgun main, all the ammo is necessary. People didn't know that you can be a healer with the healing ammo. Cast status effects like crazy as well as stun the monsters in some cases. Forgot which game it was but they had to nerf one of the ammo due to the knockback it had. It caused knockback on team as well as monsters.
By the way, i don't think SnS is boring... To me it almost feels like i'm playing Dark Souls. You slash, slice and roll a lot. It's kinda fast and allows you to block as well. Versatile.
Bro... Monster Hunter is Capcoms most successful and popular franchise in the world. It does not need to be casual at all. Games should not be made for everyone or it'll be a game for no one.
Already too late. The streamlining really increased with Gen 5's release. And since MH's current fanbase majority consists of new players who came in with Gen 5, they think that this streamlined state is normal. They consider the more in-depth mechanics of previous titles to be a negative thing.

Knowing recent capcom game design, focus mode will be used by players of all skill levels. Capcom is good at making changes that I would call “Layered accessibility” easy to use with a high skill ceiling or can outright serve a separate purpose than what is originally presented
All the changes make each weapon look so good all over again. I just got finished working my way through the arsenal in Iceborne and now I need to play them over again because a lot of them look so good.
I know he said the arch-tempered ones wouldn't be as interesting, but those are THE definitive versions of those monster fights and some of them are REALLY good.
You’re probably wrong about focus mode.. similar to clutch claw weakening, using focus mode to hit a monster’s weak points could very well be an essential DPS mechanic.
Looks like they tried finding a middle ground between world and rise gameplay with this, leaning more towards world which is great! And it's so nice to see that the hunting horn is actually a horn again, not just another hammer with a slightly different moveset and automatic buffs. You actually have to play the songs now it seems!
I see it opposite about animation, capcom games always provide fluidity and smoothness in most of the animations from their games, like DMC5 MHW and DD1/2 compare to some animations, like Ubisoft (recent games) which most os the animations are like "stop and go", felt robotix, stiff and clunky I could say the same with FS games, but clunkiness of their games are felt more due to how the souls games works, but the animation itself are good and flashy
I don't think focus mode is just an accessibility feature, it really looks like it's going to be an important aspect of combat. The trailers show that certain movements you perform are only performed in focus mode like the drill of the gunlance.
Hunting Horn is the MVP every group game, intricate gameplay dancing around the monster while performing and buffing plus wombo combo bonking the head. alas one of the most overlooked and underrated weapons

I always felt devs were right regarding mounts. Like I actually felt it in TBC. Flying everywhere, often so far above I couldn't even see the world below. It felt disconnected. I have the same experience in Elden Ring aswell. I can just mount up and escape from basically anything, and the number of caves and small discoveries I've found while backtracking tells me that mounts do infact make us lose some of what would be an experience with no mounts. That being said, the backtracking in DD2 is DIABOLICAL, so yeah prolly.

No idea… but the stuff that they showed us already looked very polished.
I still hope that Wilds will release early next year and then we might actually get a playable demo very soon just like for World and Rise.
12:23 I can completely understand why people say sword and shield is a boring weapon, but my God is it so satisfying to use. I have saved so many people with it and the ability to put down traps and use items immediately made it where I’m not sure if I can use another weapon.
People said is one of the easiest weapons to use.
Why y'all lying to me?🥲
Insect glaive was way easier 😂
sword and shield is both ends of the end of the bell curve, the skill floor is low and anyone can use, but the skill ceiling is one of the highest and it requires timing and thinking, especially in a group
Ima say this, I use Sword and Shield as a support... cuz Hunting Horn is more less of a support than just unga bunga.. the amount of heal spams using sword and shield is insane..
I gotta disagree with focus mode being an easier way to play the game. its basically tenderizing redone in a good way. Something even great players still used in world
its also only got moves you can do in focus mode
@@reater78 Exactly
Focus is separate from tenderize.
i think the skillcurve of focus mode is gonna be how quickly u can enter in then execute what u wanna do, minimizing the time ur in focus mode will make the moves focus mode allows more useful i think
@@reater78 Those attacks can just be added to certain stages of weapon combos, and the wound system allowing extra damage when hitting them can also just be done normally. They're is no need for a Focus Mode. All it seems to be good at is breaking the flow of your own combat.
Lance combat is understated but so satisfying. Feels like boxing + Sekiro.
Praise brother, in thrust we trust!
I was a total lancebro in Tri. Countering all day every day. Then World tweaked the shield charge and leaping thrust and made it a _shockingly_ mobile weapon. Near 100% uptime. Always on the offense. Poke dodge counter slap. Monster fall down.
Yeah it feels clunky when first learning it but watching skilled play with it is amazingly satisfying.
Does lance still have the hoppy hop combo i remember using from Rise?
@@doublex85then rise came and gave it a shield bash and it was only up from there
Lance has evolved so much over the years: poke poke poke parry. poke poke poke parry.
The infinite loop of “I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m not dying” 😎
Honestly as a CB main I don't get why people say CB is 200 IQ, the only hard part about it is learning how to guard-point (parry) every monster
Yea I try it... it's bit hassle with the overheat ammo and stuff, but you just rotate those stuff....
If you can charge your shield, sword and can go to pizza cutter, its pretty much the same as other weapons just with extra mechanic.
we had a saying back in 4th gen and older and it was that every single veteren hunter always had a pocket SnS. once you've hit the peak of knowledge in monster hunter the SnS becomes ridiculously overpowered
Always loved status sns, even if I never mained it. Running genprey sns in GU is a blast in multiplayer hunts.
I particularly loved frostcraft perfect rush SnS in world. God was it broken but damn was it satisfying.

you'd think the lance with its greatest defence capabilities would be laid back and relax. the lance is actually the most aggressive weapon in the entire line up, and you never stop attacking, not because you need the dps, but because you can
Though lance absolutely needs the dps
play lance! in my opinion is the most versatile weapon in this game since world, lance has the best guard move that can block even the most dangerous attack that other weapon can't even block (ehem teostra supernova ehem), all your move can be cancelled into guard dash, guarding while dashing into the safe spot, so if you are about to get hit, just guard dash into safety, not all weapon can do this cancelling move except longsword, most of them are lock in an animation
and also theres a gem/perk, where if you time your guard perfectly with the monster attack, you will get damage buff, which is quite insane
That one monsters entire species will be wiped out by the end of this ad campaign.
My favorite weapons are Charge Blade and Switch Axe. After trying them all in MHW these two were the ones that I enjoyed the most.
Charge Blade 🍷🍷👌👌👌

The best we ever had it was 4, so the closer we are to 4 the better our experience will be.
he's not talking about combos.
i agree, closer to 4u=more people will enjoy it
Meanwhile, 60% of Dual Blade users turning off their brains...
Yep. You're 100% right. The games don't feel clunky to me... They feel hyper intentional.
@@vampuricknight1i think dual blades are even more button mashing
How about he finishes fatalis first? 😂
The Charge Blade is not that complicated. It's just as simple as Insect Glaive.
Harder than insect glaive, but as hard as hunting horn
I main both and the glaive is slightly less complex because once you've gathered extracts you can just play. Much less top up of energy.

Monster Hunter Rise isn't exactly arcade-like, but it's designed around combat and its core gameplay loop rather than immersion, as seen in Monster Hunter World.
-In short
Rise is 5th Gen classic monster hunter and World is the black sheep of the franchise.
It's mainly because both games were designed for different consoles hence catering for a different audience.
To counter all your points: I found Rise boring and loved World. Rise is the black sheep simply because I say so.
@@whatthehec108 To each their own ig
When it comes to the guns theres some great guides from Phemeto and AngBata
but i'll simplify
1 - Check the Recoil and Reload of the ammo type you want to use. (pick one from Normal 3/Pierce 3/Spread 3/ Sticky 3)
2 - Prioritize getting that one ammo type to low/lowest.
@@csg1lcolonel528 Oh yeah, definitely!
these more accessibility things for casuals/new comers like the focus mode makes me more interested as i have never played any MH game.

rise is the only game that pissed me off. mainly because they nerfed blast and other status effects so hard. still manage to get to atleast MR100 before quitting. world is better

All the animations are motion capture and awesome. Wtd are you all on about?
I love the Charge Blade just for the fact you already have 2 very different weapon in one.
People keeps saying that it is an expert weapon, but that's only true if you want to use all the extra features like instant block, etc.
Using the very swift sword & shield + the heavy & brutal axe is quite simple, and the only thing is to remember to discharge the energy into phials ... which become almost automatic after a couple of hour (you tend to charge de phial even if there is nothing to charge). And once you're confortable with the main features, you wan look into charging the blade (never have to care about sharpening your weapon anymore), position where the instant block is avaible, etc.
hope you get cook into the game
No doubt cooking will be there, otherwise the game would be 0/10 for me
So hyped to see him play this. MHW is some of the best content Ive seen all year.

It's a different kind of satisfaction when you see your group being destroyed by an attack and you just face tank it like nothing when it's on you
Wish we get more breath attacks like Fatty's cone of doom in Iceborne.
"Straight up the bow"
Hey that is my main weapon there
these dofoos don't know monster hunter rise graphic has been enhanced. It looks so great with 4k.
True
As a Light Bowgun main, all the ammo is necessary. People didn't know that you can be a healer with the healing ammo. Cast status effects like crazy as well as stun the monsters in some cases.
Forgot which game it was but they had to nerf one of the ammo due to the knockback it had. It caused knockback on team as well as monsters.
Sticky right? Unless they nerfed cluster
It's pretty funny when someone says "I played this a lot" and shows 150 hours in a MH game
Street fighter 😂
Already too late. The streamlining really increased with Gen 5's release. And since MH's current fanbase majority consists of new players who came in with Gen 5, they think that this streamlined state is normal. They consider the more in-depth mechanics of previous titles to be a negative thing.
@@MonstahpandaMonster Hunter sells more than Street Fighter. Or do you mean it was turned mainstream and it ain't gone well?
@@RazielTheUnborn u truely think all mh games sold more then all sf games? Outside world no mh sold better then any SF title. Even devil may cry seeies has similar numbers then MH
@@Monstahpanda Capcom's top 2 games are monster hunter, then it's resident evil. The total series sales is DOUBLE that of Streetfighter and the only Capcom IP that has more series total sales is Resident Evil
Cant wait for u to play wilds,ur mhw vids was fire i rewatched 2 times 😂❤
"Sunrise is dogshit" says the World andys who don't know enough about the game to know that the name is Sunbreak
People did call MH5G "WorldBorne". Same theory, just backwards.
@@CuriosityMisledMe it's easier to just say rise I genuinely think people just don't know the name of the expansion
@@VelvetAura I'm going to just call it "Monster Hunter 5 Portable G: RiseBreak" in it's entirety now.
@@CuriosityMisledMe has a nice ring to it
I just call it risebreak
Knowing recent capcom game design, focus mode will be used by players of all skill levels. Capcom is good at making changes that I would call
“Layered accessibility” easy to use with a high skill ceiling or can outright serve a separate purpose than what is originally presented
As a physician with a 200 IQ, it's cute seeing people try to understand the Charge Blade in a 1-minute video.
Charge Blade is not a complex weapon.
Asmon showed how little he knows about MH. The hunting horn is high level played
I see it opposite about animation, capcom games always provide fluidity and smoothness in most of the animations from their games, like DMC5 MHW and DD1/2
compare to some animations, like Ubisoft (recent games) which most os the animations are like "stop and go", felt robotix, stiff and clunky
I could say the same with FS games, but clunkiness of their games are felt more due to how the souls games works, but the animation itself are good and flashy
Dont diss the HH like that :D
Didnt believe in the power of the horn but towards the endgame of ice i became a horn main because it was simply so fun to play.
Big damage, nice and satisfying moves that feel rewarding when you can play a banger song and wilds is making it even better!
Lance is satisfying af and an elegant weapon from a civilized era - hence nobody but lance mains used it in Rise. Gonna main lance with bow for backup for its ridiculous DPS.
Switch axe has become my main since Generations 4. It's fun as hell. Try the charge blade too, it has a lot of mechanics to it.
also protecting my sunrise, Im really sad that ppl say bad things about it just because of the graphics, the game is REALLY good and fun, the movement is really optimized and the abilitys from sunbreak its the best, ppl just got mad because of the difference on the graphics on world and rise
