Be careful about ever worshipping a producer/publisher. Capcom makes crap games; or st least used to a lot more commonly, but they haven't murdered their core franchise yet. Never let them get complacent; or else you get an EA/Activision-Blizzard/Ubisoft. It feels badman.

Monster hunter world was one of the few games that i ever felt was worth the full price. The amount of hours of pure fun i put into that game was awesome.
It was worth full price. And Iceborne was worth full price, but it was cheaper because it was an expansion. Now I can't keep my eyes dry when I hear proof of a hero, because of that final fight in Iceborne.
Most of the fun for me was seeing the monsters interact with each other and basically do all the work for you, its like a proper ecosystem no fight is ever the same!
One of my top 3 favorite games of all time. There is literally a 100 different monsters to fight. It was almost always super fun and epic. I can't recommend it enough.
Hearing that these missions are like 20-30 minutes was a relief. In MH Freedom Unite you could go almost a full hour fighting a boss just to die at the end and see it limp away😂 When you progress, and especially at the guild hall, most of the stronger bosses easily take up more than 40 minutes to fight, even with a friend. Despite that though, there was a charm to the long excursions, and the mechanic where all the monsters fight you and never each other. Beautiful franchise!

Monster Hunter is such a fun series. You really need to take a hot minute near the start to just try and feel out all the weapon types in the training area though. They're basically like completely different classes so it has a dramatic effect on your playstyle. Like Dual blades isn't just Sword and Shield with the shield replaced by another sword, they're completely different weapons with not only different movesets but even totally different mechanics and resources to how they work.

Monster hunter is an excellent franchise, if you can get into the combat style. It's a lot more slow and calculated than it seems most of the time. Can be grindy if you want, or minimal grind to craft your ideal kit, followed by owning whatever you want 😎 hope you play!!!
If you get it including the iceborne dlc, i highly recommend not using the special armor and weapons you get from the start. Those are meant to get you through the early game fast, but its more meant for people that are already experienced and want to get to the dlc content quickly. For a new player, its a crutch that will ultimately hinder you.
Ye, i didnt understand either, if he meant the combat then i would get it, i dont think any other game gives you this heavy feeling. But the animations?? I think are still one of the best till this day
most important note about this game: do not play this like dark souls. you have around 60% of the i frames compared to a dark souls dodge. if youre not an expert Monster hunter player, you wont get the dodge (consistently). (or just use an armor skill that raises i frames i guess)
3 things: you can use the environment to your advantage, when they fall asleep during the fight it means they're weak, unless it's an elder dragon you can capture it by setting a trap and use tranq bombs
I love this game introduced me the monster hunter franchise. The dopamine rush when i finally beat Fatalis alone after failing over 20 times with only 2 mins left felt so amazing never got that rush from another game.
One of my favorite games of all time along with Dragons Dogma and Dark Souls. I put somewhere between 7-800 hours into World and it was my first MH game
I always knew MHW would take thousands of hours of my life that's why i wait to quit my job and finally i started to play after almost 5 years without touching my physical copy. You just can't stop playing.❤
I love this game so much. You can get absolutely stomped by a monster, learn its moves and mannerisms, then finally beat the everloving shit out of it. It's a lot like Souls in a way with the very deliberate movement, but much more brawling around a zone for extended periods. And it still looks great!
Playing Monster Hunter on the PSP over a decade ago, really did translate to my love for the souls series. Not enough games make slow and deliberate combat feel good.
@@keenshibe7529 I'd say MH feels like more of a marathon while DS is like a sprint. World in particular feels like you are exploring an environment and hunting a creature. While DS has you completing a "level" to get to a boss arena or checkpoint.

Feels more personal and makes you appreciate the finer details of their behavior, movesets, and design
@@gwynbleidd8723 no thanks. Lets say i only wanted to ask for help when i was truly desperate and while often it was fun with others, it just as often backfired.
@@gwynbleidd8723 the idea is fine and i wanted to do it but then id argue the games biggest flaws surface. You cant join a friend if he hasnt watched the cutscene, the cutscenes are unskippable, you cant join a friend on a mission unless you have already beaten said mission, you cant see your friend in the hub area unless you are in the community hub, you cant see your friend on free roam unless you specifically join his or they join yours, sharing the cart pool for monsters just exponentially sucks more the more players you have. If the new game changes all that and keeps all the good then i think the game would turn from subjectively one of the best games ever made to objectively one of the best games ever made. Other problems are nitpicks and subjective opinion but the ones i mentioned arent good in anyones book.
its a game that feels like your actually hunting monsters instead of just an easy fight. you learn the weakpoints on the monster, and its habits, use the environment and your items. This games damage calculation is extremely unique thanks to motion value. If you swing your weapon as the monsters head is moving toward you it acts like a counter in boxing and deals extra stun.
I got back into the game for the first time since a few years, I am enjoying World a lot! Even got 2 friends to join in for the adventure, MH World being their first Monster Hunter game!
YES FINALLY! I've been a fan of Monster Hunter since the original in PS2 released in 2004 and I have 5-10k hours across all the gazillion releases since then. For someone who cares about gameplay so much and loves big unga bunga weapons, I'm surprised that Asmon hasn't got into the series yet cuz MH is one of the best boss battle-oriented games out there. Yes, there are mobs but 99% of the time you fight big-ass monsters using big-ass weapons. The story and characters are for better or worse irrelevant, most of the cutscene is just about the monster or their ecology and I love it. I play plenty of Monster Hunter-like games but I swear there are no games like Monster Hunter
To be fair, most people in general never heard or cared about this series until it had pretty graphics with World. The community changed overnight when this one came out.
@@FaolanHart world is theyr best selling monster hunter for a reason. Dont mix graphics with art style. Yes world looks great on a technical level but shit like the amount of foliage, nature, animations, interactions, the colors (go back and compare all previous MH games including the more colorful ones and they still would look drab compared to world). If it had focused less on dreagon types and had more other types like bug monsters then overall i think people would agree its the best one. And had monster hunter changed some of (in my oppinion) terrible decisions, it would be on a lot more people top games of all time. ( it is on mine but it would be higher)
@@firmak2 Very well, people randomly started to be interested in World despite never caring about any of the others because it was the first to have a very generic Western approved "art style".......though most will just say graphics because we all know what I'm talking about. Duller colours, detailed textures, lots of brown & grey. Perceived realism basically. Don't get me wrong, I love World, its one of my favourite in the series. Just below 4U & GenU. I loved all the quality of life changes, the open worlds, the endemic life that you could collect & seeing some of my favourite monsters in more detail than ever before. It was a breath of fresh air in many ways.....outside of the microtransactions that ended up ruining the series imo. But thats another topic. Before the Clutch Claw was added I called it once of the closest to perfect games I've ever played. But don't fool yourself. Graphics/"art style" are why people took notice for a change. Because it looked pretty. That & being on "relevant" systems. Systems that sell themselves on graphics. Most gamers are vapid. You show them something pretty & they don't care about anything else. Its why consoles sell themselves on these things, even at the detriment of performance. Because that really is what sells to the majority.
@@FaolanHart Tbf I think you're also underselling a couple things here. Monster Hunter had not been on console since Tri, which was...a game. The first two were hated, and frankly so long ago, that many people that expressed interest in World weren't even really capable of playing MH when it was on console. 3Ds was a mixed bag console. Many people loved it, many people trashed it. That alongside the lack of marketing for MH did not help 4U and G. In fact, I believe P3rd was the best-selling title before World. Then you got the real doozy here - what was Capcom even putting out? Megaman and DMC had not seen a game in forever - outside of remasters and SEs, it was nearly a decade. Resident Evil had just come out with 7, which at the time lacked traction because people were fed up after RE5 and 6. So they got MH out there on a big stadium, to a big audience, from a big company whose recent big games were RE and unironically another Monhun game for a relatively starved yet popular Switch Console. There were just so many things playing into it.

he´s seen some speed run tactivs before, but honestly those kind of things make the game look really bad for new players, since it makes the game look really easy to cheese, they dont know the struggle you can have fighting these monsters so the game just looks easy and kinda lame when you can just oneshot stuff or perma stun it with 1 attack spam etc
@ I’m pretty sure asmon can tell that speed runs are meant to make the game look easy, he’s seen elden ring and other DS speed runs of bosses and he knows that it takes a lot of time to make the game look that easy

@tomwells5220 replied below, it's a ballpark since I don't have many of the older games now. Been playing nonstop almost everyday since it released. That's why I gave the estimate I did.
MH World and Iceborne are one of the best games ever made, it has that RPG element, the grinding element from MMORPGs and the dark souls bossfights plus each weapon completely changes the playstyle, it is in depth and complex. I love MH games and wish Asmon played this one
movements are not janky they are part of the gameplay. when you fight it's like a tandem dance. you need to time your attacks with the boss's movements. after a while you get used to it even if the controls feel a bit like tank control at first, it aint.
At the very least, do NOT quit before Anjanath, that's the wall/filter monster. This game is more about player skill than it is character skill, so there's going to be a lot of learning of patterns and hitboxes/hurtboxes. I trust Asmon is going to be fine even if, by your his own description, is a slow learner. Monster Hunter is easier than a lot of people make it out to be, basically it's hard but not impossible. As long as Asmon is fine with overcoming walls that are designed to crush you, he's even going to be fine with the end-/post-game. I am very excited for this to say the least!
To be clear. I used great sword through all of monster hunter. It is a weapon that 100% requires you to know the monsters move set. Because there is nothing like that BIG damage but you know whats no damage? Charging up and getting knocked the hell over. Honestly for a first time MH especially for monster hunter world, I would just recommend the sword and shield. It does low damage so you will need a shit ton of weapons for all the weaknesses. Where as for great swords you just need one with big damage. That said... sword and shield is a weapon set you don't get animation locked into and you can use items with your weapon out. So it's by far the best build for new players. Like with any other weapon set to heal you have to sheath your weapon and then heal. But sword and shield... take a big hit... take a big sip. And sword and shield is arguably the best coop weapon set as well. Because there are sets that let you share buffs and heals with allies. And nothing like taking a big hit and some bro in your squad takes a drink and everyone on your team is back to full hp.
Monster Hunter is the game of my childhood, started on the psp all the way to the switch and now PC. Nobody knew Monster Hunter a few years ago and now it gets the recognition it deserves. 😭😭😭
definitely would recommend having someone for the first couple missions till you figure out the crafting and everything in this game. The first couple hours is very overwhelming learning on your own. Monsters are frustrating to fight but over time of grinding gear and new weapons you will come back and destroy a lot of the monsters.
Asmon is def gonna struggle w/ MHW at first because like the other ongoing old games, MH has a lot of depth and so it requires beginners to learn a lot of things in the game. But (atleast for me) the reason why I love MH so much is because once you learn the basics of the game and find your rhythm you start to appreciate the details in the game. My advice is find the weapon you enjoy the most and be patient with your hunts

@@Jebu911 actually you just need to see the "cinematic" where the monster is presented to you, after that your friend can instantly join. Still lame tho

Monster Hunter is an amazing game. I had a ton of enjoyment from it. It does have a decent level of difficulty. The key is learning which weapon suits you best and learning each monsters pattern.
I want to get it but should I go with World or the newer Rise?
@@danius4043 All I have is the standard edition-- I didn't buy any expansions, so I'm not sure

Hearing that these missions are like 20-30 minutes was a relief. In MH Freedom Unite you could go almost a full hour fighting a boss just to die at the end and see it limp away😂
When you progress, and especially at the guild hall, most of the stronger bosses easily take up more than 40 minutes to fight, even with a friend.

This game is in my top five. Once you get comfortable with your control schemes after finding the weapon type that you like, everything else will begin to fall into place

The thing is souls games got there formula from monster hunter the game predates dark souls the first monster hunter game was made in 2002

Man I remember the beta for this game. First monster hunter I ever played. I still play the series and still play world.
Monster Hunter is the game of my childhood, started on the psp all the way to the switch and now PC. Nobody knew Monster Hunter a few years ago and now it gets the recognition it deserves. 😭😭😭
You haven't lived until you've done a Zero Sum Discharge into a monsters face while it's trying to escape
definitely would recommend having someone for the first couple missions till you figure out the crafting and everything in this game. The first couple hours is very overwhelming learning on your own. Monsters are frustrating to fight but over time of grinding gear and new weapons you will come back and destroy a lot of the monsters.
he is going ot have viewers in Fatalis gear carrying him through low rank within an hour of playing.
2 weeks later and he loves it.
1:03 The numbers never get much bigger than they are at the beginning of the game.
Watching Asmongold stress his processor to find reasons to not play one of the greatest series ever made always gets a laugh from me.
Asmonbald’s new years resolution is going to take til 2035 lmfao
A giant flying monster swoops in, pick’s up a giant fire spewing dinosaurs slamming him into the ground and all asmon sees is the damage numbers.
If he does actually play it, I'll enjoy it for however long it lasts lol
"i just wana see the numbers"...is exactly the deal breaker for me with POE1
The one where they introduce the bugs that you can swing around with is the best one, it feels so fluid to move around. I think it was Rise.
rise was so shit compared to world lol
@@NewsofPE Nah, your trippin'. Having the dog AND cat travel with you is dope. The skill depth is amazing. The only thing better in World is the story and monster variety.
World and Rise are amazing.
@@MrSirFluffy Rise is more arcady. It removes a lot of the difficulty by allowing you to immune and counter almost everything without any real set up besides having bug cd available. The animations are also a bit of a downgrade as is the ai, several monsters have very limited patterns that they always repeat. The environment is largely irrelevant in rise. It's still a good game, but it's not as deep as world, which is fine. The companions are cool. Some weapons also have some rather broken interactions that trivialise pretty much everything which is not as much of a problem in world. Being on the switch always meant to was going to be a downgrade in it's core gameplay loop which is why they sped it up.
@@brunomarques7713 I guess since I played on Switch, I didn't really care. World I play on PC. I think they are perfect for their target audience.
I do love the mobility of rise though, I think that's something the main line series creators should take. That and playing as a cat from the other Monster Hunter.
@@MrSirFluffy Yeah I like rise too. I think we will get more mobility but nothing like the bugs. The environment seems to be more important in the new game.
MHW 10/10 game imo
World was my first MH game and I loved it. Little grindy for the + encounters (forget what they call them), but the crafting is pretty cool. Really looking forward to Wilds.
Super underrated game franchise, everyone who loves rpg games are missing out
how the fuck is monster hunter underrated?
@@hua.. Compared to overseas its very underrated over here, especially before World. Even after World most people in real life I know haven't even seen anything of Monster Hunter.
@@enderdefender7406 exactly
this stream will be the best 30min of asmon's career
We have pretty similar tastes in games, and MHW is my favorite all time game. Don't use the defender weapons / guardian armor it will trivialize MHW in a bad way.
Hope you enjoy dude!
He will play this right after Genshin
