I'm on the same boat lol, bought it again for me and my brother on PC after years of playing in PS4. I'm now practicing CB and Lance, used to main LS, DS, bow and LBG 😂
Rise was developed with Switch in mind and due to the consoles lack of power, the visuals and the environment had to be dialled back somewhat. Also Rise started development near the end of World's development and was made by the beta team. I'd say Rise is the more difficult game of the two and while rather visually and mechanically different than world, it's still fun and worth playing.
I like how people in comments were critizing Rise for having "way too many cheese strats" - without even naming examples. Did you forget about smoke bombs from World? Or the numerous ways to cheese monsters into never even trying to hit you? Or the other numerous cheese strats from World? There are numerous cheesy tactics in both games. Neither of them is better or worse for that.
Rathian? Man I killed Rathian four times before I killed that damn T-Rex Anja once, holy cow. The story missions to kill Anja I killed the Rathian but barely pulled off a capture of the Anja (the Anja Rathian hurts in the scripted scene to show Rathian is a bigger threat). Anja is so damn tough. Obviously it depends on builds, but Rathian I just run under him and swing like a mad man, the others keep knocking me all over the place like a Pinball and I spend more time getting up than fighting, lol.
Rise was made by a different team than world and was almost at the same time. It's considered the same generation as World. So it does some things better than world but also doesn't have that lived in world feeling that world obviously has in spades. It's also the Monster Hunter portable of the Gen and on switch initially. It was gonna be smaller just by proxy.
Rise is unga bunga lets kill thw monsters and have a good time. the combat is so cool and fast paced I appriciate it in a way andI do hope they port the poster boy magnamalo or even the two elders in future games because they're interesting even though they all leaan more into the mythological aspect of the game. I can see Malzeno coming back in future games tho
Personally i think rise is better. The gameplay mechanics are just better. Monster roster has a lot more disparity (largely due to how many resources have to go into creating high fidelity models for somthing like world vs the switch) and they didnt just port the switch game over, they added a lot of art direction assets to help rise look decent on pc.
Monster Hunter has never been about graphics; it has always been about the love we have for the franchise's gameplay, weapons, core mechanics, villages, NPCs, music, and especially the monsters. Before Monster Hunter World, the most fluid experience we had was with Generations, and even with the graphics of a handheld console, that game is still amazing, and I would play it again today. I love World and Rise currently because both are Monster Hunter, but they approach things differently, and I appreciate the way each one plays. The graphics of Rise being the way they are after World, to me, is not a problem; I consider it a love letter from the B team to the old Monster Hunter fans. Like, we can create beautiful graphics like in World, but Monster Hunter can be great in this style too, like Rise. Because, again, it has never been about the graphics. And let's be honest, Rise is like this because the primary team is working on the best Monster Hunter that will exist, Wilds. Good Hunting. I'm happy that my favorite game is getting the attention it deserves.
Actually no, most of the steam reviews is because is boring, just that. The new combat is great, introducing new combos that u can switch is a great idea and i hops they use it on wilds cause it wpuld be awesome but the wirebug is too op and the monsters look like they got nerfed. I dont care about the graphics and UI as a lot of people does cause i have played the old games and is the same and i like it but i doesnt look like u r a hunter but a god who is slaying a bug. Also the storyline feels a bit behind comparing to world, making it more worth it to jjst speedrun the game and finish it. I still liked it a lot cause of the fast pace and dinamic and fast combats but the hate it gets is reasonable, more if u came from world and iceborne
I love it that they are so different from each other. Sunbreak focus is on fights in small maps. Then its clutch claw vs silkbind. its all preference tbh.
I just wished that MHWorld and Rise weren't the only Monhuns that ppl think to play nowdays... The old games were so good and fun even compared to other games released today. Capcom needs to release those old games in some way, collection, remaster or remake. The old community can't keep just surviving on emulation like that, it's just a disrespect at this point.
I'd love to have MH3U, 4U, and GU on Steam. I wanna play them on the Steam Deck so badly without emulating them 27:10 It's not a "lower resolution", it's less polygons. It looks more like the OG Monster Hunters. Flat, void of foliage, it's empty, lighting isn't as good. It is hard to describe bcuz IDK exactly what it is either I like good gwaphix in a vidya game, but as a poor boi, it's relieving to see games not be so graphically intense or demanding. More accessible to those who don't own the latest hardware. PC gaming at maximum quality/settings with at least 60fps is a LOT to ask for. It's hard not to see the scoffing of 30-45fps as unplayable or 'bad gwaphix' as elitist entitlement, forcing the new minimum standard to extreme heights. Especially with the handheld market ramping up, 30fps+ isn't going anywhere
One of my favorite things about the way MHW does its online play. When you go to the SOS you know people want help. Thats the whole point of a SOS in real life. So when I go there I know these people need or want help. I get excited as a hunting horn main to help the best I can.
Monster hunter rise is pure combat fun action. Monster hunter world has great immersion and diverse game mechanics related to hunting and tracking. If they made a game with worlds tracking and graphics with rises gameplay i think it would be a good combo.
@@elyadrian8871but they're fun though. Buy ya, I don't think they'll be a good fit for a big mainline game. But for something like Rise it's just fun.
yeah they should bring switch skills to wilds. not wirebugs tho. i found it fun *on rise* but i dont think i will find it fun if its in world or wilds.
I remember hearing about Asmon when he was just starting to do more variety content, and just never really paying too much attention before or after that, but hearing him talk about gameplay over graphics is basically my favourite take I've heard so far. Gameplay is, at the end of the day the only thing keeping me coming back to a game. Doesn't matter if the graphics are bad, or the story's bad, I play it because it's _fun_ to play. Bad gameplay can work only if there is a phenomenal story behind it, and that's still only really good once. I'd never play it again after, there would be no replay-ability there. MHW is one of those games where it was both gorgeous _and_ insanely fun, and while the story wasn't amazing I still enjoyed it for while it lasted. I've sunk hundreds of hours into it now between two different systems, and I can't wait to see what Wilds has to offer!
I feel there is a certain minimum for graphics, but it's a know it when you see it sort of thing. Bad graphics totally can interfere with otherwise amazing gameplay, but usually it wont.
Playing different (kinds of) games just to understand them better and the opinions they generate, to advance understanding and better predict the future. Sounds to me like a noble goal. Chapeau Asmon.
I came here after ragegamings video, just giving a fellow great sword main a tip, using sleep element is excellent for setting up barrel bomb + true charge slash combos. But that’s just a personal preference for me, there are many different sets to maximize efficiency! Good luck on your monster hunter journey!
Rise doesn’t so much have bad graphics as it just has less detailed environments. Graphics are still high quality on models but the environment is much less detailed. For gameplay it feels basically exactly the same to play it’s just wirebugs change the dynamic a lot and when you get used to them makes it faster paced.
Switchaxe is the hardest to master imo. It has gunlance levels of animation locks with almost no proper defensive options. CB is hardest to learn because it has a lot of valuable moveset but it just comes down to memorization but overall it has a very well rounded kit.
Cb is hard to learn (complex) but its pretty simple after you understand its moves and gameplan. SA is by far the hardest weapon to actually play though because of its complete lack of defensive or evasive options
@@tfk2328 u just need to equip evade window on it like on most weapons without shield. + it gets super braindead in endgame cause u can abuse rocksteady+hp aug and temporal mantle.(tool specialist lv5 with fatalis set) u attach to weakspots and go afk. its also considered as one of the best cheese weapons for fatalis cause of that playstyle
The sheer amount of W's Capcom has had over the past years, it's incredible. They're one of the only companies is still have full faith in delivering quality games.

I have 180 hours on that game, and only recently i bought iceborne dlc, for a long time i was just farming whichever monster felt cooler just for fun instead focusing on the game, i didnt even know that the game forced me to be stuck at a certain level until i complete some of the story quests, i feel like it would kinda piss me off if it happen on any other game but not in monster hunter world, i loved farming because it was my decision to do it, i enjoyed the fights and exploring different fights, answering random SOS and such im also far from finishing the game or having unique builds, usually i just go with the coolest gear i can find and only make better ones when i struggle. also important thing to add it that i been taking HUGE breaks in between but the game has a special place in my heart nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone pulls a sick move on youtube or / coop with a weapon u never tried which makes u wanna finish the fight and go try it too
Watching Asmon MH World playthrough pushed me to try MH series again xD, the first monster hunter that I've played was Freedom Unite (played it through emulator too lmao) and now enjoying MH World Iceborne (30 hrs in )
@@TGHunter i don't really see the point in going back in MH, all the movesets are basically the same, they add or replace 1 thing per game, the vast difference is only monsters, levels and the pace, i didn't find going back a few years ago gratifying at all, it's basically the same game just worse in almost every aspect.

as an indie game dev myself, another note why you kinda can't compare World and Rise in terms of graphics: Rise was mainly developed for the Switch console first then got ported to other platforms, if it would be the other way around, then the graphics in Rise would be the same like in World, but then there would be no a Switch port due to performance issues very likely

Monster Hunter World (iceborne) is one of those games where I will stop playing for a bit, then something, a video, a thought, a memory I have, and love will bring me back to playing it again, and I think that's something so incredibly special, and a true testament to the effect the game has had, it's just awesome.
6:53 This. this is exactly how I felt after playing Cuphead. It permanently altered how I approach and view difficulty in games. Nothing is impossible and there is always a way to complete your goal, even if you fail 1,000 times. I died nearly 500 times on Dr Kahl's robot alone and had over 200 deaths before I even reached Isle 2. I'm so glad I played cuphead before Monster Hunter, I don't think I would've been able to keep coming back if it hadn't been for the determination Cuphead built into me.
God Eater is a pretty good "monster hunter type" game, it's basically monster hunter but it's set in the code vein universe on the other side of the fog
What I love is monster hunter hasn't released a broken or unfinished game. And always listen to their players. And I love the free extra content in the first year of world and the first year of iceborne
excited for you to play Rise it's one of my faves in the series and I've been playing since Tri. Generations is also amazing and probably the best of the old school style! Keep it going bro i'm cheering for you!
Best Armor Sets: Focus on endgame armor sets designed for Great Swords, such as the Diablos or Rathalos sets, which provide high damage and elemental resistances. Skills: Prioritize skills that increase damage output, such as Fire Attack (Level 3) and Critical Eye (Level 5). Additionally, consider skills that enhance survivability, like Tackle and Stamina Surge. Weapon Upgrades: Use the Great Sword Weapon Tree to upgrade your weapon, focusing on elemental damage and critical hit rates. The Anjanath and Diablos Great Swords are particularly effective. Charged Slash Combos: Mastering Charged Slash combos is crucial for high DPS. Use Tackle to interrupt monster attacks and maintain combo chains.

I'm on the same boat lol, bought it again for me and my brother on PC after years of playing in PS4. I'm now practicing CB and Lance, used to main LS, DS, bow and LBG 😂
Acid Glavenus honestly was my favourite monster both in moveset, armor and the way it looks.
Based Glavenus enjoyer
If acidic glavenus doesn't come back in the next game, i honestly don't want normal glavenus to come back. Unless all the fates four come back
Now if we can get him to watch the JoCat weapon videos!!
Base game Rise is less grindy and easier imo, but has better QoL than world. I love it but I understand the hate.
7:42 Whats going on down there tho👀
Monster hunter rise has amazing combat, hope you enjoy it. I’ll probably play monster hunter world after having played rise for so long
Monster Hunter has never been about graphics; it has always been about the love we have for the franchise's gameplay, weapons, core mechanics, villages, NPCs, music, and especially the monsters.
I'm excited to hear Asmon is gonna play MHRise and hopefully Sunbreak. Honestly, most of the reason why that game gets hate is because it's not World.
There is a reason why this Capcom’s best selling game ever. World was magnificent and I can’t wait to play Wilds.
This guy actually made me reinstall the game 😂
lmaoo, same but with Rise instead. I finished most of the stuff in mh world
Is this single player game?
@@chrisa8863yes but you can play with friends too, the way you do multiplayer is weird though but its still fun
Nah it's online so there is multiplayer mixed in there@@chrisa8863
@@chrisa8863almost everything can be done solo, but you can also open your hunts for people to join and help. Up to 4 people.
Prowler mode my beloved
It's so cool watching someone get into MH for the first time. It's easy to forget how good the games are.
I'd love to have MH3U, 4U, and GU on Steam. I wanna play them on the Steam Deck so badly without emulating them
27:10 It's not a "lower resolution", it's less polygons. It looks more like the OG Monster Hunters. Flat, void of foliage, it's empty, lighting isn't as good. It is hard to describe bcuz IDK exactly what it is either
I like good gwaphix in a vidya game, but as a poor boi, it's relieving to see games not be so graphically intense or demanding.
Asmongold being excited for WILDS in 2025 provides me JOY.
I love you chito2701
Hopefully he plays on release day and continues through the mh year with the rest of us old hunters!
If they made a game with worlds tracking and graphics with rises gameplay i think it would be a good combo.
wilds probably is combination of world and rise.
pls no more spiderman wirebugs tho
I hope they keep the mechanic off switch skills going forward (not scroll swapping tho)
Good luck on your monster hunter journey!
lol Longsword haters not wanting him to like what he sees. Love that spirit helm breaker “that’s a move you can do!?”
I loved LS. I'm enjoying GS and so far I find GS also easier than LS.
26:30 That is the first time i have ever heard someone acknowledge WoWCrendor. Im so happy.
I'm no speedrunner but playing MHW online and suddenly doing perfect synchro attack move with your mate is an amazing feeling!
Rise doesn’t so much have bad graphics as it just has less detailed environments. Graphics are still high quality on models but the environment is much less detailed. For gameplay it feels basically exactly the same to play it’s just wirebugs change the dynamic a lot and when you get used to them makes it faster paced.
Chargeblade deal insane damage, but its the hardest to master, i wish Asmon will try it
It's not the strongest but its for sure the hardest
Switchaxe is the hardest to master imo. It has gunlance levels of animation locks with almost no proper defensive options. CB is hardest to learn because it has a lot of valuable moveset but it just comes down to memorization but overall it has a very well rounded kit.
Cb is hard to learn (complex) but its pretty simple after you understand its moves and gameplan. SA is by far the hardest weapon to actually play though because of its complete lack of defensive or evasive options
@@tfk2328 Yes, Switchaxe as well is also hard to master, but the chargeblade hit imo is so satisfying when you pull it off, it just feels so good
@@tfk2328 u just need to equip evade window on it like on most weapons without shield. + it gets super braindead in endgame cause u can abuse rocksteady+hp aug and temporal mantle.(tool specialist lv5 with fatalis set) u attach to weakspots and go afk. its also considered as one of the best cheese weapons for fatalis cause of that playstyle
9:00 Yeah, that's why Granblue Fantasy Relink has the same coop features as Monster Hunter. JP devs saw a good sight and took it
The sheer amount of W's Capcom has had over the past years, it's incredible. They're one of the only companies is still have full faith in delivering quality games.
I'm with you.
I've been playing video games for 25 years and the industry got to/is in a pretty dark spot. But I think it's coming back around bit by bit. I actually have hope for the first time in years.
Happy hunting (:
@@clueless4085? Gaming is better than ever, no need to look for hope
Which is funny cuz before RE7 eveybody made fun of Capcom for being a bad company
they botched street fighter 5 and dmc a bit, but they're pretty consistent yeah.
They have some flops but nothing really devastating Capcom is still upthere for me
yeah mh rise is def a fun iteration of the game. i had tons of fun with the different courage hammer move set.
I love how they call Deviljho "the pickle" and pickle is Pepinillo in Spanish. Now I just call him Devilillo or tiny demon when he shows up
Zack really needs to watch the video "How to Monster Hunter", such an amazing video. It's what got a lot of my friends into playing the game.
It's great seeing Asmon getting hooked into the MonHun franchise.
That monster figura is Zinogre. You can find it in Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion. Plus another variant of Zinogre in the Guiding Lands.
I never thought id see the day where asmon played my all time favorite video game, i dont know why, but it makes me smile.
I have 180 hours on that game, and only recently i bought iceborne dlc, for a long time i was just farming whichever monster felt cooler just for fun instead focusing on the game, i didnt even know that the game forced me to be stuck at a certain level until i complete some of the story quests, i feel like it would kinda piss me off if it happen on any other game but not in monster hunter world, i loved farming because it was my decision to do it, i enjoyed the fights and exploring different fights, answering random SOS and such
im also far from finishing the game or having unique builds, usually i just go with the coolest gear i can find and only make better ones when i struggle. also important thing to add it that i been taking HUGE breaks in between but the game has a special place in my heart
nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone pulls a sick move on youtube or / coop with a weapon u never tried which makes u wanna finish the fight and go try it too
Watching Asmon MH World playthrough pushed me to try MH series again xD, the first monster hunter that I've played was Freedom Unite (played it through emulator too lmao) and now enjoying MH World Iceborne (30 hrs in )
hopefully you give a try to old monhun again after your journey in world, the third and fourth generations were really good times.
@@Myhaay It's more game and experiences. i don't get how that would be a bad thing :v
@@TGHunter i never said it's bad, i just didn't get anything from it, it was the same game but worse, at least if the weapons were different, but they are the same, even the moveset.
I hope Asmon keeps discovering more MH RUclipsrs & the great contents they make ... I'm so happy he already discovered NCH Productions and TDS 😃!! I hope he discovers GS god Aris MH and LS god Peppo next 😊
7:00 this is huge for me to. Understanding how and why games rise and fall.
Sunbreak makes rise worth playing imo. Sunbreak is very good.
My favorite thing is Asmon realizing the longsword isn't just some weak dex weapon and its actually a big fucking sword that can fly
as an indie game dev myself, another note why you kinda can't compare World and Rise in terms of graphics:
Rise was mainly developed for the Switch console first then got ported to other platforms, if it would be the other way around, then the graphics in Rise would be the same like in World, but then there would be no a Switch port due to performance issues very likely
Man cant wait for asmon to start delving in deep with seiges !!safi jiva, fatalis, alatreon, kulve tarroth all of the above!!! Learning all the strats and tacs 😊 looking forward to more world content bruv. Im in it for the long run!! P.s you should try some other weapons at some point 😅
Really want to see him fight the Behemoth and the Leshen
Meteor.
Monster Hunter World (iceborne) is one of those games where I will stop playing for a bit, then something, a video, a thought, a memory I have, and love will bring me back to playing it again, and I think that's something so incredibly special, and a true testament to the effect the game has had, it's just awesome.
You should do the raids as well I'm sure you can get enough people to do them if they still do safi and taroth
6:53 This. this is exactly how I felt after playing Cuphead.
When he said Xeno jiva is the most annoying fight I died😂 He haven’t met the queen Lunastra yet 🤣
Actually he has. He hates her. LMAO
I'm so glad that he finally found out there's more weapons then the greatsword.
Wow I hate when I find out about big voting events After voting closes. My two favorite monsters are Tigrex and Brachydios.
When I started Monster hunter freedom unite Same my favorite monster is tigrex he's so cool
same tho I'm sure those two will be high on the poll at least
wdym the voting doesnt stop until march 2024
@glardian966 When I go to the voting site, I see the following message: "The voting period has ended. Hunters! Thanks for casting your votes!"
God Eater is a pretty good "monster hunter type" game, it's basically monster hunter but it's set in the code vein universe on the other side of the fog
So glad this man played this game. Got me to buy and finally give it some time. Now I'm just as hooked.
What I love is monster hunter hasn't released a broken or unfinished game. And always listen to their players. And I love the free extra content in the first year of world and the first year of iceborne
Rise was kinda unfinished
I love Rise, but it definitely could've used a couple more months in the oven.
excited for you to play Rise it's one of my faves in the series and I've been playing since Tri.
Use Tackle to interrupt monster attacks and maintain combo chains.
yellow damage is also part damage
Wish he could've seen more speedruns of other weapons 😅
i love mh i may not be the best but when youve got a group of mates it makes it so much better
Guys. I’m so FKING glad asmon is becoming invested in the mh universe, it’s my fav game and I also started with world. Hope he does more reacts, would love to see him react to the ”1000 hours with *weapon*” vids.
Monster Hunter Rise is a good game especially once you get to the expansion Sunbreak content so please push through to the end! It’s just a different type of MH game. Its just the base game is okay but Sunbreak is incredible
Team darkside had all the best vids 😂 they showed the real meta builds lol 😂 monster hunter math guys were also good.
meta builds always ruin shit
@@Exel3nceIn PvP games, yes. That doesn't exist in MH, thankfully.
even then, yes. if you can play with players, its always kind of shitty cause everyone only wants THAT one thing that is in meta. nothin gmore@@Mare_Man
Rise is also good. They're both very good. Just enjoy your hunts
Long sword is not a easy weapon, especially in MHW
In Monster Hunter, every weapon is a new game IMO, the mechanism is so unique ;)
LS is the easiest and most powerful weapon to use in just about every MH game. World is no exception. It has a high skill ceiling, but it is incredibly simple to learn.
The second half of your comment is dead on though. Each weapon is a different fighting game character.
Even when you think it would be similar, it is absolutely not.
@@Michael-bn1oiLS is all about reaction + planning. You need to have good pacing and not button mash. But it is simple enough that you could start off button mashing and be somewhat okay.
@@matasa7463 You can easily make it to the credits after Xeno without ever doing more than button mashing. Like I said, it has an extremely high skill ceiling but it is *incredibly* strong and very very easy to learn.
The Hat in Time music in that first video is so good, love that game
Asmongold should watch team Darkside on their after 1000 Fatalis kills, insanity
He said he doesn't want to watch videos about monsters that he hasn't killed yet. So in 2 month maybe^^
or the one shot the game vid..
Maximizing your affinity makes every hit a critical hit, that’s how they get these big numbers continuously.
nah. even with 100% affinity you prob do 1300-1700 hits. its alot of pre buffing they do. prob triggering food buffs by dying once or/and taking damage etc. then buffed via a hunting horn guy etc. the list goes on.
Rise is more of a monster fighting game than a monster hunting game
29:30 the art of the The division 2 world it's amazing the level of detail in the streets Always got me
Jesus Loves all of you guys
TDS and rage gaming high great sword damage videos are a must watch
I told you guys he will end up playing rise.
It's the full circle of a new Monster Hunter fan starting on World.
You hate on rise at first, then you buy some monster hunter merch (Zinogre over there)
Then you start loving Monster Hunter and think "well I might give rise a shot as well, just to scratch the monster hunter itch"
Bow is really hard to manage and can do A LOT of damage if done correctly 19:40 But you can definitely do if you watch some videos
Asmon should go back and play some of the older ones too
I like how Asmon is adopting the gs way of “Big number equals neuron activation”. We gs goobers all love our damage numbers being insanely high and the 10k back in iceborne was awesome but the sunbreak numbers are so much more heavenly
all the weapons in this game are kinda fun tho, maybe not for everyone but defenitely worth trying them out
Somebody donate show Asmon footage of MHGUltimate he will fking love the diversity of the arts and playstyles in that older game
move is called Spirit Helm Breaker on the ps4 it button combo is R2 and circle but the Foresight Slash which is a counter attack that does massive damage and you pull that off with R2 and X once spirit is filled at least once and is by far more effective and destructive
