The crown farming was never supposed to be a main target, it was meant to be something you gradually complete throughout the course of playing the game. A lot of tedium involved in getting 100% could be reduced if the player chips away at them while focusing on other stuff. Once you begin focusing solely on stuff that's meant to be "side projects" it feels tedious because the main fun of the game is fighting monsters. Collecting endemic life, taking pictures of cats, and collecting furniture for your house are intended to be fun distractions to do every now and again, supplementary to your "main projects." Now with that being said, there are plenty of tools at a player's disposal to help them along with these side projects (such as food skills mentioned in the video and in the comments), and I'm sure these were added specifically because the devs know people will make these "side projects" into their main goals. Yea, I did it. I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't quite hate it. This was probably because I used the Smart Hunter mod to see if a monster was a crown or not before hunting it tho lmao
28:29 So I just finished my 100% run about a month ago, and I can back up this claim. I did a lot of Guiding Lands grinding and was getting crowns left and right once I got regions to level 7. I personally think it has something to do with monsters that show up naturally instead of being summoned, because nearly every time a tempered elder showed up without me summoning it, it was a crown. The wiki had nothing to back it up so I just thought I was getting extremely lucky, but now that I’ve seen someone else claiming the same thing I’m confident there has to be something here (Context: I started from a brand new character and got every achievement for world before Iceborne and then did all of Iceborne achievements before moving to postgame content. Guiding lands was the only way for me to get better gear to make the grind faster, so I did A LOT of Guiding Lands grinding.)
I noticed that too. I accidentally got a large crown velkana and kushala that spawned on their own, and I've been trying to get gold rath and scarred yian garuga for days with no luck.
I can confirm, as a console player, the Rare Moly achievement isn't bugged on PC, it's just very poorly worded; you don't need to catch all of them, just one. Also, for crown hunting, I similarly had a MUCH easier time finding gold crowns in the Guiding Lands than I did doing Investigations, both because the gold crown versions of the monster seemed to spawn a lot more frequently, and the fact that you can meld Banishing Balls and Tracks to lure out specific monsters from the Elder Melder, which just made the whole process a lot faster than continuously jumping into investigation quests and having to go through loading screens. It was still a huge grind, but once I fully committed to the GL, I saw more progress in one week than I had in over a year doing crown hunting. That being said, fuck large gold crown Ruiner Nergigante. Trying to find that big spiky bastard nearly made me throw my controller through my monitor.
As someone that's currently working on a 100% playthrough it's nice to hear an explanation of the treasure hunting that doesn't tell me where they all are. Now I know how to find them myself! This is also the first video I've seen that mentions moleys and isn't a comprehensive list of all endemic life in the game
Started Replaying World with family earlier this year & we just reached the guiding lands. Anyways I found some molies in the wildspire area when it was only lvl 3 so the lvl 5 thing is bunk ( the molies also got away I just learned from here that they are rare 🙃)
Common stopping point for almost endgame players, super common dude. There's not much left after Raging Brachy besides Alatreon, Fatalis, and chasing slightly higher numbers throgh ridiculous RNG grinding tbh
The guild card achievement isn't out of your control. A lot of people have it so that they automatically send back guild cards when they recieve one. So just send out guild cards to a lot of people and you'll get some back.
Actually kind of heart warming when u finish all the optional MR and HR/LR quest and getting congratulated by every NPC in the game the throughout the game just gave random convo to actually praise you makes you feel good bout doing it all and a sense of recognition even if its just minor detail it really makes the game memorable 😊
Fun fact! I’ve found that the prism hercudrome almost always spawn on the quest “A Kestodon Kerfuffle”, so when I start a new game I always go and get it! Sadly, it is a key quest so no repeats
Fun fact: You can get Celestial Wyverian prints for doing some requests in the observation logs, it’ll help when needing a rare gem or mantle, it especially helped me.
I know this video is kinda old by now, but this has genuinely inspired me to go back and do the same. Learned a ton from this about the specifics of some of these trophies
For the 50 Guild Cards, those just came naturally to me by having the Auto-Accept and Send setting and just kept playing a lot of SOS Multiplayer and regularly sent the teams I was in during the Quest End timer or before we capture a monster. Some of em reject it, but you'll be surprised how many will accept and give you their cards too. Once I gave myself to playing Multiplayer since I have a lot of confidence in my capacity as a Hunter where I can support and not die regularly--It really opened up a much more enjoyable experience for World for me. Also getting high level hunter cards makes your Palico Expedition yields so much better. So it has its benefits.
for those who want to make it a little easier for themselves and have no ethical issues with using mods. it is possible to use a game overlay that displays all monsters in the map as soon as you load in with a crown icon next to their name if they are indeed a crown. this has no other gameplay effects and although game overlays offer the option to display monster health, you do get the option to disable the health counter and only display the monster icon + the crown icon (if it applies). some might think this is cheating but at the end of the day it's simply a time shortcut and fun is subjective.
What an accomplishment, man. I'm working toward the same and I'm at 85/100 right now. I've just been slacking off with my Arena Quests and such but I made a ton of progress on the Treasure Hunter achievement this week so I'm not too mad. My plan for the gold crowns is to farm up the 12% quests and knock out all the basic monsters before I move onto the Elder Dragons, and I lucked out severely and got a large gold crown Deviljho in only a handful of runs so the RNG was actually pretty well in my favor up to this point. I got all the base game gold crowns doing this, other than Elder Dragons and specifically the Black Diablos which has been a roadblock. After that I'm just going to make custom armor sets to specifically combat everything remaining, and just go HAM. Might even go for the entire set instead of only doing the required ones.
As someone who hasn't played since 2019 (I think) and wanting to get back into it on occasion but failing due to the long break... this was a really fun and encouraging watch. I was busy with ACNH during the pandemic but man, MHW would have been a wonderful time sink
i guess everybody defines 100%ing a game differently i made it a goal myself to have: every achievement guild card maxed out (having 99999 points and also 999 quests on everything - arena, optional quests, etc) having EVERY weapon on masterrank (yes even safi and kulve ones in every variation) having all armor on low rank, high rank and master rank haveing all layered armor as well having all talismans having all pendants having every palico gear in every poasible option being master rank 999 and hunter rank 999 having every "pure" decoration (attack+ 4, expert+ 4, etc) at least as many times as the ability has points (for example attack boost has 7 points to ne maxed, therefore at least 7 attack+ 4 decorations) having all poogie outfits having every photography on gold having all gold crowns for smallest and biggest (yes comes with all achievements) i think there are a few more but since i love this game to pieces, this is my interpretation of having a game on 100%
I'm on my way to doing 100%. I also had the moly achievement bug on ps4 after catching the sneezy moly. I need to do crowns and treasure hunting. Treasure hunting is the main reason I've not platinumed it yet.
This was fantastic! Congrats! I'm... a true masochist. Originally reading the title I thought you were gonna say like... "oh I got all maxed out armors and weapons" etc... that's what I'm tempted to do in Rise...
I finished 100% World a couple months back, and it was excruciating. needless to say, I'm doing Rise right now and I can't wait to do it again for Wilds.
1:08 "I needed something comfortable and familiar" *proceeds to get more and more desperate and unhinged as the video goes on* For a second I dared to hope it wouldn't be such an unsurmountable task but I guess I'll look for easier games to 100% :D
15:43 for the jellyfish, if he not there. Just wait patiently for the next night cycle (50mins) to see if he appears the next night. Take roughly 5hour to get the baster, but it better then running up the mountain to get nothing in return and repeating it 17:50 it a misleading description, im pretty sure bad translation
Great essay on the madness of the greatest mh player ! Bad jokes aside, did you know the one game actually requires you to farm for the crowns ? IIRC, in mhG you only got access to the hub quests for the subspecies by getting a golden crown of the base monster. however, some of the subspecies quests were key quests, which means you needed some of the crowns to progress. The key words are IIRC though, since I can’t seem to find if it was just rumours or real stuff
Me and my bf just did this few days ago on PC, and he already had done this once, but on console, so yeah, I know how it's grinding. Now into Rise/Sunbreak!
17:43 What if it's worded badly or translated weird? What if ''every region'' is supposed to stand for the Guiding Lands, since it has biomes from (almost) every map (region) of the game.
I remember getting 100% of world iceborne on my ps4 and I got so close but that one large gold crown vaal hazak evaded me for so long it was utter madness, I gave up for a long time then got it out the blue, was a mental experience
If I recall correctly you can just spam mega potion with the wide range skill, no need to hop between maps. Should boost unity by a LOT, I could certainly be wrong though, it's been a while
27:30 Sure beats Rise's base of 3% on both crowns, especially considering the roster of base world does, thankfully, cover 90% of the roster, save for Elders iirc.
The grind that shall not be named took me so long cause of how many times i gave up on it. Also the lynian treasure hunting; the palico tends to sniff the treasure when you are nearby
just wanna say, thanks for the guide after 1300 hours, and 2 whole solo runs on swaxe and horn each. and only 15 days of dedicated achievement hunting, i got the 100% was scared crown hunting would take me months
i saw someone on the steam page saying that you dont need the pickle for the achivement. im currently atm hunting gold crowns myself and now only need all the base game elders beside teostra + the pickle. and im on pc so so i cant 100% the large devil
I want to 100% MHW cuz I’m a MH vet since literally the first game. I’m 29 so I’ve been around. I just have no friends. I’m pretty good at all the games too. Just from experience over the years. Switch axe is my main.
If ur trying to lvl up ur trailraiders so u can find treasure rather than traveling between a new map every time u can just go on an expedition, find or call a cat, use all ur life powders/potions, and then request ur expedition rewards, refill potions and do it again until that areas cars r max level.
For the Guild Cards you can literally just hop between full Safi/Kulve/Alatreon/Fatalis sessions and send your guild card to everyone and hope they have auto-send turned on. I did this and I was getting 2-5 cards per session. Took me like 15 mins.
I 100% the game. Then i made all pendants, all layered armor, maxed out gold eggs, now i am working on getting all my GL areas to 7. It is very slow going, but I am making progress. When I'm not doing GL, I have almost 1600 Safi kills (most are solo, full energy, single runs), and i help others. After over 8000 hours, and 22,000 monster kills, i don't know why i never get bored of this game.
I’m crown hunting for fun in Sunbreak, and yeah, it’s ass. My friend though, is crown hunting in MHGU, and I wish him luck. Took him over 300 Khezu to get small crown. Can’t wait for him to try the deviants. Holy shit, that’s gonna be fun to watch lol.
The reason you probably already had all the rare creatures is because collecting them unlocks certain ingredients in the Canteen. Well, at least the Downy Crake which unlocks the "Dragon Killer Sake". I swear I remember the others being important for something too.
Hey, can you share specific stats from your journey? Like what was you Hunterrang? How many hours did it take? How many tries was your maximum of a monster, etc!
Did the exact same grind 2 years ago, wanted that 100%. The Moley bug happens on the PlayStation version as well, and like you said I definitely was not complaining. The trophy definitely is misleading
The hardest part will be the crown hunting. I "commissioned" the help of my friends (for free) to help me gather crowns so it was just idk 5 people spamming events and investigations check if the monster is crown then kill or get out. It would've been hell doing it alone.
Ah, Gold Crown hunting how I hate you so. My only joy was getting Small crown Valstrax the first time i hunted him and then getting the Large crown about 8 hunts later.
It is funny how you need the base game platinum to get the Iceborne platinum, my last monster was small Kushala P.D. Endgame gear makes grinding so much faster also if you are dedicated to a crown you might as well use the monster's weakness, for example I wreked Kushala with a Brachidios blast hammer.
I swear my friend and i have been crown hunting a good while and we are just getting unlucky with some of these. We need large kushala, both sizes of base vaal hazak, large namielle (i think my friend needs both actually, i just need 1], a silver rathalos, large yiang garuga (both forms), and my friend needs large lunastra
The fledgling observer achievement is bugged for me i have done a few requests already and noticed i dont have it... i wonder if it would help to try on a different character but id have to play until i reach seliana to try...
That's an incredible achievement especially considering i did it myself, and both core and iceborne combined took me around 2 years to complete, but the DLC was obviously much faster, with a few tedious things i left for last like getting gold crowns, and the forest pteryx which was insanely hard to find!
Just in case it also helps, I got my Briskly Crake on top of a Mosswine in the Ancient Forest in the gajalaka area inside the tree. I remember fighting an azure rath, falling off to the bottom (like it's usual in that area) and seeing the little fluff on top of a mosswine the moment I fell down. Hopefully it helps someone too.
Eyyy good job I wasn’t good with the hunter, but for risebreak crown hunting i found using a mega barrel bomb as my reference point saved me a lot of trouble-the metal bands can act as a line that’s a lot more understandable than the hunter. Not that that helps you now Knowing that about the money glitch means maybe i can snag that cheeto after all!
giant nergigante was the worst for me, and i made my 100% completion goal a lot harder than just the achievements, for me personally my 100% includes all endemic crowns (currently missing 5 crowns, 4 regional molly (giant rocky, giant spiny, giant rowdy, small frosty) and and the small wintermoon nettle (i got lucky as my first ever wintermoon nettle was the giant crown)). all layered armour (still need more guiding lands specific mats from monsters in areas i havent maxed out due to my molly hunt), getting all kjarr and safi weapons (all elements/ailments for all weapon types), as well as hitting HR999 and MR999, i did also have the goal of making all armour (actual armour) but stopped after finishing all LR and HR armour as i wasnt sure id have enough room in my box for the addition of HR armour (probably do in all reality with 100 total boxes possible but with the addition of the kjarr and safi taking up almost 10 boxes total and all the pendants and existing weapons i have i wasnt sure, that and all the LR and HR armour was a bit of a slog), so instead i think ill do what im doing in MHR and make all hammers as thats my main weapon and favourite, the only difference being that ill be doing all in end game where as in Rise i was doing it along side my progression (cause i made my main rise character a bit of a gimmicky run where ive only used hammer, also followed my World character in wearing a bird head and i didnt realise until several years after i started wearing my now signature look of buff body gamma/+ and a bird head (kulu in World gargwa in Rise), i have been a 'bird brained hammer main' and that actually kinda fits my playstyle too well).

The wiki had nothing to back it up so I just thought I was getting extremely lucky, but now that I’ve seen someone else claiming the same thing I’m confident there has to be something here
(Context: I started from a brand new character and got every achievement for world before Iceborne and then did all of Iceborne achievements before moving to postgame content.
Trying to find that big spiky bastard nearly made me throw my controller through my monitor.
yea screw big boi ruined nergigante
As someone that's currently working on a 100% playthrough it's nice to hear an explanation of the treasure hunting that doesn't tell me where they all are. Now I know how to find them myself! This is also the first video I've seen that mentions moleys and isn't a comprehensive list of all endemic life in the game
I might be the only one but I love crown hunting, it just scratches that itch in me
Started Replaying World with family earlier this year & we just reached the guiding lands.
Anyways I found some molies in the wildspire area when it was only lvl 3 so the lvl 5 thing is bunk
( the molies also got away I just learned from here that they are rare 🙃)
I love the Tropical Freeze music
Man, I stopped at Raging Brachy, couldn't even imagine trying to 100% MHW.
fatalis loves you
I fucking love Raging Brach!!
That's exactly where I stopped too
Common stopping point for almost endgame players, super common dude. There's not much left after Raging Brachy besides Alatreon, Fatalis, and chasing slightly higher numbers throgh ridiculous RNG grinding tbh
@@JohnDoe-np3xd Yeah, I had a sense that the fun was more or less over
The guild card achievement isn't out of your control. A lot of people have it so that they automatically send back guild cards when they recieve one. So just send out guild cards to a lot of people and you'll get some back.
congrats on the 100%! i still got a ways to go since im at 88 atm.
now you can go 100% Rise/Sunbreak >:)
So it has its benefits.
i remember my first crown monsters. i had no clue what they were but it was funny to see a gigantic banabaro and a tiny winy deviljho...
for those who want to make it a little easier for themselves and have no ethical issues with using mods. it is possible to use a game overlay that displays all monsters in the map as soon as you load in with a crown icon next to their name if they are indeed a crown. this has no other gameplay effects and although game overlays offer the option to display monster health, you do get the option to disable the health counter and only display the monster icon + the crown icon (if it applies).
some might think this is cheating but at the end of the day it's simply a time shortcut and fun is subjective.
100% the Goal of any gamer! Awesome!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Playing the Wilds beta has renewed my drive to get to 100% on world. I know this wasnt a guide per se but the tips are much appreciated!
As someone who hasn't played since 2019 (I think) and wanting to get back into it on occasion but failing due to the long break... this was a really fun and encouraging watch. I was busy with ACNH during the pandemic but man, MHW would have been a wonderful time sink
I started playing world day 1 and put over 3,600 total hours into it before I got my final Gold Crown in November of 2023. CROWN HUNTING SUCKS SO BAD.
i guess everybody defines 100%ing a game differently
i made it a goal myself to have:
every achievement
guild card maxed out (having 99999 points and also 999 quests on everything - arena, optional quests, etc)
having EVERY weapon on masterrank (yes even safi and kulve ones in every variation)
having all armor on low rank, high rank and master rank
haveing all layered armor as well
having all talismans
having all pendants
having every palico gear in every poasible option
being master rank 999 and hunter rank 999
having every "pure" decoration (attack+ 4, expert+ 4, etc) at least as many times as the ability has points (for example attack boost has 7 points to ne maxed, therefore at least 7 attack+ 4 decorations)
having all poogie outfits
having every photography on gold
having all gold crowns for smallest and biggest (yes comes with all achievements)
i think there are a few more but since i love this game to pieces, this is my interpretation of having a game on 100%
Ive got the same goals. Im working on guildcard for the last thing on my list.
I'm on my way to doing 100%. I also had the moly achievement bug on ps4 after catching the sneezy moly. I need to do crowns and treasure hunting. Treasure hunting is the main reason I've not platinumed it yet.
currently doing this now wish me luck great vid!
This was fantastic! Congrats! I'm... a true masochist. Originally reading the title I thought you were gonna say like... "oh I got all maxed out armors and weapons" etc... that's what I'm tempted to do in Rise...
Knowing that you went through all of this while hearing deep dives about Kissinger and G Gordon Liddy makes it even better, tbh.
As someone who is also working on going for 100% of MHW, you certainly picked one hell of a mountain to climb as your first game to trophy hunt for.
Just got the ICEBORNE platinum yesterday.
730 hours later.
One of us! One of us! One of us!
Gratz on 100%
I finished 100% World a couple months back, and it was excruciating.
needless to say, I'm doing Rise right now and I can't wait to do it again for Wilds.
for the moly acheivement you dont need each type of moly, you just need to catch a moly in each area (the basic one works), it saved years of my life

"Your eternal soul will be devoured"
thank u rajang
1:08 "I needed something comfortable and familiar"
*proceeds to get more and more desperate and unhinged as the video goes on*
For a second I dared to hope it wouldn't be such an unsurmountable task but I guess I'll look for easier games to 100% :D
the Wintermoon Nettle still evades me to this day i've done ever "strat" possible and still have not got it
Thank you for explaining the guild card trick. That has been the bane of my existence.
22:05 "I don't hate myself....enougt" - Punk Duck "How To Monster Hunter Rise"
15:43 for the jellyfish, if he not there. Just wait patiently for the next night cycle (50mins) to see if he appears the next night. Take roughly 5hour to get the baster, but it better then running up the mountain to get nothing in return and repeating it
17:50 it a misleading description, im pretty sure bad translation
I did not know I could fast travel to paw pass until I began playing again this year.
I dread the horrifying thought of true crown achievement for endemic life in mhwilds
If I recall correctly you can just spam mega potion with the wide range skill, no need to hop between maps. Should boost unity by a LOT, I could certainly be wrong though, it's been a while
Gaming with Abyss is actually so helpful for achievement hunting. And they have guides for so many games
Great video, well edited, narrated, great info. Im sitting at 79/100, might have to do this eventually 👍
just wanna say, thanks for the guide
after 1300 hours, and 2 whole solo runs on swaxe and horn each. and only 15 days of dedicated achievement hunting, i got the 100%
was scared crown hunting would take me months
i saw someone on the steam page saying that you dont need the pickle for the achivement. im currently atm hunting gold crowns myself and now only need all the base game elders beside teostra + the pickle. and im on pc so so i cant 100% the large devil
Awesome video. Congratulations on 💯. I'm still on this path. Interested to watch more similar videos. Maybe Sunbreak or Wilds 😂
25:58 why did u not take any damage after get hit twice? 🧐
30:32
I'd gladly listen to you talk about 100%ing games you really enjoy
Oceaniz “The Completionist”
Great journey! Would love a Pirate Warriors 4 video
I did it too + iceborne.
Was a fun ride.
Most painful stuff was crown farming and this one squid thing endemic life on the mountain 🏔️ in iceborn
I liked doing the pawswap, it was easy and peaceful. Slowly I was driven into a lull by the endless palico dancing.
There's no such thing as 100% MHW, it just congratulates you for beating the tutorial. Then the game starts.
I'm on this same grind right now and I only have the Iceborne expansion gold crowns to collect...it's really taking forever...
It is funny how you need the base game platinum to get the Iceborne platinum, my last monster was small Kushala
The fledgling observer achievement is bugged for me i have done a few requests already and noticed i dont have it...
i wonder if it would help to try on a different character but id have to play until i reach seliana to try...
i got goose bumps when he said corwn hunting
im doing this rn, just finished observations yesterday and im gonna do 40 arena quests today lol
just finish my 100% achivement on PC, Crown monster are really hell. glad I can use hunterpie, its help alot
Eyyy good job
I wasn’t good with the hunter, but for risebreak crown hunting i found using a mega barrel bomb as my reference point saved me a lot of trouble-the metal bands can act as a line that’s a lot more understandable than the hunter.
Not that that helps you now
Knowing that about the money glitch means maybe i can snag that cheeto after all!
Bro big ups out of any game to 100% this one is a beast
i became a fan of yours some time ago... but hearing DK music in your video made me a life time follower of yours :D
I decided to 100% MHW about a year and a half ago and burned out bad. This is exactly what I needed
large/mini crown RNGeezuz's cruelty knows no bounds... 💀💀💀
giant nergigante was the worst for me, and i made my 100% completion goal a lot harder than just the achievements, for me personally my 100% includes all endemic crowns (currently missing 5 crowns, 4 regional molly (giant rocky, giant spiny, giant rowdy, small frosty) and and the small wintermoon nettle (i got lucky as my first ever wintermoon nettle was the giant crown)). all layered armour (still need more guiding lands specific mats from monsters in areas i havent maxed out due to my molly hunt), getting all kjarr and safi weapons (all elements/ailments for all weapon types), as well as hitting HR999 and MR999, i did also have the goal of making all armour (actual armour) but stopped after finishing all LR and HR armour as i wasnt sure id have enough room in my box for the addition of HR armour (probably do in all reality with 100 total boxes possible but with the addition of the kjarr and safi taking up almost 10 boxes total and all the pendants and existing weapons i have i wasnt sure, that and all the LR and HR armour was a bit of a slog), so instead i think ill do what im doing in MHR and make all hammers as thats my main weapon and favourite, the only difference being that ill be doing all in end game where as in Rise i was doing it along side my progression (cause i made my main rise character a bit of a gimmicky run where ive only used hammer, also followed my World character in wearing a bird head and i didnt realise until several years after i started wearing my now signature look of buff body gamma/+ and a bird head (kulu in World gargwa in Rise), i have been a 'bird brained hammer main' and that actually kinda fits my playstyle too well).
