It's really cool not only seeing a bunch of weapon moves from rise but also plenty the of mechanics and QoL from rise too. One of the best things about this series is how iterative it is and how it constantly improves itself.
That’s been a trend where the mainline has rock solid grounded gameplay and the portable version has a bunch of experimental and whacky mechanics that they then take the best of and slap into the next mainline title
i really like how it improves on being a roll simulator by being a roll simulator. this game is so increddibly innovative ive never seen players spam the roll button before in any game wow. And I like how a boss that weighs 2000x your weight just sits there and lets you hit it instead of just rolling over and squishing you since this game is basically a roll simulator. why cant bosses roll too? so fascinating.

Quest starts when you hit the monster is just perfect. And you don't just leave the map after quest is done. This is so different but also nice. It feels more seamless.
For those who never played monster hunter, Monster hunters always have a slow-paced fight (with the exception of MH Rise) Because you are a normal human being carrying a giga-ass weapon hunting a thousand kg of muscle mass, and not a demigod that can wipe a species to extinction 💀 The joy of playing this game is to understand the monster's attack behavior and timing your attack, not smashing a button until the monster is killed
You're definitely not a normal human, Hunters are super human, hence why they can actually use most the weapons and don't just die the second a brachydios punches them. But other people like villagers and scholars are built like a normal person.
11:53 Hammer seems really easy until you remember that most monsters attack forward. 😂 I play hunting horn so I'm up there with them dealing as much exhaustion, paralysis, and KO
As a Monster Hunter noob who just completed LR in Monster Hunter World, I highly recommend trying out the Hammer weapon (what's up bonk bros), it's very fun
as a long time monster hunter player, i think wilds make monster hunter more like a hunting game which is good, i see alot of complaints of monster hunter fans saying its more fluff and less fight which is true objectively, but iirc in interviews the devs has said that they have had alot of ideas all along but was never implemented because of technical limitations, and if you really think about it, if monster hunter is real and you as a small human have to hunt these monsters, you would put your brain to work coming up with strategies and tools whatever it takes, kind of like sora and shiro in no game no life, we are the weakest in terms of physical strength, but we got brains
Yeah it kind of always blew my mind that people would complain that you use different items yeah I used a blinding bug you know why I'm the same size as that monsters fucking toe
Monster hunter was always about preparation, something I found interesting. You can go into a hunt to just brawl it down or do your homework and prep to make the fights easier with environment, monsters and traps/tools in play
@@SwimNemo Certainly. I always like jumping into the game and going straight at the Apex with beginning gear to test my skills. It's long and tedious, but doable, then to see how much easier it is after a little prep work. A favorite game series of mine by far.
I think the reason why people like to see Asmon reactions is because he really seems to be interest in the games he is watching, same thing for this japanese games showcase, the devs and staff really seems to like their games
You know what this specific Monster Hunter is reminding me of? Mgs Phantom Pain and I can't even properly explain why but just know that's an amazing thing
Considering all the months the other games came out, this will launch either in 6 months (February) or 7 (March). If there are issues, it's going all the way to November, 14 months. More than a Year. Let's hope it drops in February
This is what I miss playing Rise, the sense of scale and epic of fighting larger than life monster that do awesome stuff. There are some like Gaismagorm, Valstrax, Magaru and Malzeno but none of them really hit that level of Safi, Teo and Luna bonding attack, Fatalis ultimate flame breath, Alatreon Escaton Judgement, or Shara Ishvalda reveal. If we can marry the combat moves from Rise with the level of detail of World like Wild have been showing, we will have another epic game in our hands.
Honestly Asmon should play Rise or Wild hearts while he waits for Wilds. Wild hearts has base building and camps like Wilds will have and they mostly fixed the performance issues + its fun due to the fact it has different weapons compared to monhun.
I hate WH, because it had my expectations high then they dumped it - especially on PC. The game doesn't feel complete either, important character just get killed off-screen and there are many things were left off, after defeating the true final boss I felt like I gained NOTHING, both in story standpoint (no NPC acknowledge my deed, and I don't understand wtf was going on too with that old man just appear and pop off) and upgrades, gears, etc...
Weapons have a lot of nuance to them. I started MHW with light bowgun and it was shooting normal ammo at correct distance. With Iceborne monsters started to move and attack more in a way where it could get harder but then I switched to sticky ammo on insane range/no range requirement to then go sticky evade reload for really active gameplay and lots of DPS. Then I started lance - it took quite a while to handle movement/mobility of the lance but then block/attacks are really nice. After that lance with greedy wall-bangs and trying to do double-bangs if the monster enrages few seconds after getting up from first bang (and bangs when they get up from sleeping even when enraged). For Wilds I hope they make the builds better than everyone going for the same abilities/augments while some weapons having to add additional ones and struggling with space for all of them.
The builds/sets have been homogenized for over a decade now. They're not fixing anything. They will continue to increase the power creep every game and inflating the numbers instead of addressing any problem. 100% crit should not be NORMAL. these devs are making every wrong decision when it comes to these games and it shows they just get worse and worse bit by bit every release. I cannot support this anymore.
“Best bit” As someone who’s been playing since MH1. I disagree. I find rise to be the absolute worst game for multiple monsters. World did it better, had turf wars without also making multiple monsters a non threat or free damage
@@MysteriousStranger50Best bit of Rise of the maneuverability and having the silk art combos, also a lot more accessible. With that said though, I just cant seem to get into it even putting in 70 hours
@MysteriousStranger50 Not everyone has played every game. That's why I said best bit from Rise, I played World also but generally prefer Rise for the faster pace of it. I enjoy the free damage that luring does in Rise but that's just my opinion.
I hope MH: Wilds will improve the multiplayer story mode. It was always kinda yikes not being able to do story missions together (for the first time) because there was a cutscene . For those that dont know : In MHW you had to run every story mission with cutscenes alone until you were able to let others join your game. This made multiplayer always tedious and almost unenjoyable
@@theadmiral4157 Thank the 5 winds... I'm sure it would be cute and funny to start with but I have a feeling I'd start treating it like the handler in world.
Lance is actually very satisfying. I love the combination of very good defense combined with very good counter offensive attacks. Charge Blade is very fun as well.
"I had no idea monster hunter was this popular." It's always been big in Japan, but not so much in the west. As someone who has been playing since Freedom Unite in 2009, it slowly grew in popularity until Tri, when it started getting tv commercials, where it had a big bump in popularity. Then World came out and it became HUGE here in the west! But, it's also become easier and easier with each installation. Monster Hunter is one of the last TRUE skill-based videogames. Most other skill-based games don't have a high skill ceiling and noobs get more than good enough to steamroll the game very quickly. It has gotten easier and easier over the years, player damage multipliers increased so you do more damage to the monster each hit, monster hp and defense lowered so they take more actual damage, attack tells have gotten more obvious, easier in that way. It's still a skill-based game, don't get me wrong. It's still rough for a lot of noobs. But go back even a couple generations and the noobs that are good at World/Rise will be tripping over themselves. It's always a good thing to go back and play the generations you haven't, just to get even better. I highly recommend it. But, be aware, there will be QoL stuff that will be missing. Walking potions, that wrist launcher thing in World, Aerial attacks only became a thing in 4U, a bunch of armor skills, etc. Hell, the SOS beacon was brand new in World. When I started, on Freedom Unite, you had to be in the same room as someone to play with them cause it was on the PSP. For most of my hunting career, I've been solo. Which again, helps you get gooder faster.
iceborn made+20mil and Sunbreak sold over +15mil. the handhelds were selling about+5mil before world, it's just a object permanence of not seeing it. with mhnow and the resurgence of world last January, we are looking at a pretty massive release for wilds assuming the economy doesn't get too ugly by then.
@sahave5042 not really. BMW has a pretty small linear map with not much simulation going on. MH wilds will be open world, with weather effects, constant monster movement and turf wars, small monsters to simulate, the ecological wildlife to simulate, some more dynamic mechanics like rocks falling on a monster, hunter climbing monster etc. If MH world was anything to go by, this game will probably launch with abysmal performance so don't keep your hopes too high.
@@teem9949this is a mega alpha build, you cannot accurately gauge graphics based on this demo, at least base it on a worldwide demo whenever that comes out, but 60fps was never promised same with 120, it’s just the ps5/xsx can do UPTO those frames, plus the ps5 hardware is like 5-6 years old (usually if you have a pc you would upgrade you hardware by this time), it’s outdated tbh, the ps5 pro will do well with this game (like how the ps4 pro was way better with world than the ps4) you can expect basically the same performance (graphics will still look better than world) it would be ideal to be guaranteed to get 60fps but it’s not the devs fault, they said themselves they are trying very hard to use the ps5 to its max so it’s the ps5 holding them back, not their own optimisation so blame Sony or Microsoft, but you can’t really unless you want to pay pc level prices for more performance
This dude played greatsword just long enough to let us all realize he’s never once blocked with the greatsword in his life. I’ve always wondered why people die so much with the weapon.
I’m enjoying seeing a lot of the QoL changes they’ve been making, especially being able to pick up bombs and putting them away or tossing at the monsters.
The aiming at weak points thing is cool, hope more games will continue to develop in this direction. Whenever I'm playing a game and I hit the same spot over and over I feel like that spot should take extra damage or become crippled after time.
The expansion of MH games are when Capcom typically go crazy with weapon moves. I mean, if Gunlance already is this cool and has a damn drill attack already in base game, it can only get crazier from here lol.
They might have it as a skill you can swap out. The gameplay shown had a shield bash on the great sword like in rise and I've seen a tackle in other trailers
But In a positive light, The gunlance is probably going to be the most powerful version it ever been in Wilds. they worked on a lot of the limitation the weapon had damage wise

What lack? Focus mode is a big addition. Alll the weapons have new moves. They took away clunky stuff like clutch claw. The maps have weather cycles that'll affect gameplay. Have you been paying any attention to the coverage?
graphics are amazing, this doesnt look good cause its a connsole test build from like half a year ago, mechanic wise they improved every weapon by adding and polishing stuff from other series (you have stuff from world, rise, frontier, generations), monster wise it seems that they expanded on what world did with wanting monsters to feel like real animals so thats good, like genuenly dont understand what disapoints you?
Have you not watched literally anything about the game? They've already showed so many new mechanics and details. You expect them to show you the whole game where most of the new mechanics would lie?
You still wrong about focus mode, that not only help to let you understand something, it's for aiming wounds but mainly you can now perform a devastating special wound atack that crit and stagger monster and you can't do those if you not using focus mode, you use Fmode to track wounds and know if they activate also when monster's go to rage mode all wounds you made are active now, of course you can ignore many systems and tricks in MH as always but in many cases you will miss on damage and fight longer.
@DPH_Psychosis I mean, the complaint I was replying to was about as vague as one could possibly be, but of course you'd let that slide. You simply haven't followed the game's coverage if you think it's not bigger than World. The monster herds alone are like nothing you can find in World. We could also get into how the world is seamless now and has multiple settlements, but I suspect you're just a hater based on your other comments.
@DPH_Psychosis I don't know of a way you can directly find comments from another person. I've just seen them in the comment section, like a desperate plague.
The secret is playing gen 1 and 2 with hitbox overlay, in emulator you can slow down speed up gameplay with fps. After a while you can see the safe zones in attack patterns, the modern game AI usually randomizes these hit zones (for fun) but at certain points and animations they’re pretty much 100%. to actually land a full charge you usually have to predict the next attack but if you’re drawing aggro it’s usually like like a 2 out of three chance you’re right, however the ai loves to switch agro when your charging which makes THIS* the most opportune time for a charge attack *when someone else is about to loose agro during a charge be like to the side of the tail and you can usually time a good hit on the tail horns or least mobile leg near you.
This was basically what they showed at gamescom....and they are some new things that were added. Focus mode, palicos can talk or you can turn that off and make them meow like the og, insect glave doesn't have fly bounce no more, every weapon has a new animation attack, maps bigger than world, they haven't shown more of the map so they might be hiding more content... maybe water combat vs lagiacrus again?, there's lots of new things coming just gotta wait till they reveal it to release. My one concern is hope they optimized it good and have transmog.

For those who never played monster hunter,
Monster hunters always have a slow-paced fight (with the exception of MH Rise)
Because you are a normal human being carrying a giga-ass weapon hunting a thousand kg of muscle mass,
and not a demigod that can wipe a species to extinction 💀
The joy of playing this game is to understand the monster's attack behavior and timing your attack, not smashing a button until the monster is killed
Rise's combat is pretty goated too. Primordial Malzeno is peak.
You're definitely not a normal human, Hunters are super human, hence why they can actually use most the weapons and don't just die the second a brachydios punches them. But other people like villagers and scholars are built like a normal person.
Yeah, World was MH5 and Wilds is MH6. Rise was a spinoff like GU.
The main games are always slower paced and built for immersion.

as a long time monster hunter player, i think wilds make monster hunter more like a hunting game which is good, i see alot of complaints of monster hunter fans saying its more fluff and less fight which is true objectively, but iirc in interviews the devs has said that they have had alot of ideas all along but was never implemented because of technical limitations, and if you really think about it, if monster hunter is real and you as a small human have to hunt these monsters, you would put your brain to work coming up with strategies and tools whatever it takes, kind of like sora and shiro in no game no life, we are the weakest in terms of physical strength, but we got brains

It change his life
Knowing kuarusepusu’s ecology and how the weather effects work (especially for this map), he would be a perfect addition for this game
Honestly Asmon should play Rise or Wild hearts while he waits for Wilds.
Wild hearts has base building and camps like Wilds will have and they mostly fixed the performance issues + its fun due to the fact it has different weapons compared to monhun.
Rip Wild Hearts. Had so much hope and expectations for the game
He stated that he will play SunRise like 1 month before wilds's release
Best bit about Rise was luring one monster to another so they could fight 😂
Now we can do it to multiple monsters and have a battle royale 😂
“Best bit”
As someone who’s been playing since MH1. I disagree. I find rise to be the absolute worst game for multiple monsters. World did it better, had turf wars without also making multiple monsters a non threat or free damage

I hope MH: Wilds will improve the multiplayer story mode.
It was always kinda yikes not being able to do story missions together (for the first time) because there was a cutscene .
For those that dont know : In MHW you had to run every story mission with cutscenes alone until you were able to let others join your game.

If I did a bet with money on how many people complained about the FPS I’d be rich
If black myth wukong can run okay this game should be okay
@sahave5042 not really. BMW has a pretty small linear map with not much simulation going on. MH wilds will be open world, with weather effects, constant monster movement and turf wars, small monsters to simulate, the ecological wildlife to simulate, some more dynamic mechanics like rocks falling on a monster, hunter climbing monster etc. If MH world was anything to go by, this game will probably launch with abysmal performance so don't keep your hopes too high.
Complaining about it is justified. It’s ridiculous that they’ve been promising a 60 fps standard since the ps4/xbox one and it’s still not here yet

The secret is playing gen 1 and 2 with hitbox overlay, in emulator you can slow down speed up gameplay with fps. After a while you can see the safe zones in attack patterns, the modern game AI usually randomizes these hit zones (for fun) but at certain points and animations they’re pretty much 100%. to actually land a full charge you usually have to predict the next attack but if you’re drawing aggro it’s usually like like a 2 out of three chance you’re right, however the ai loves to switch agro when your charging which makes THIS* the most opportune time for a charge attack *when someone else is about to loose agro during a charge be like to the side of the tail and you can usually time a good hit on the tail horns or least mobile leg near you.
the movement animations on the hunter and stuff like moving cloth and hair are crazy good, best looking shit in the game by far
