@@CrzyLion It's one thing to play them, it's another thing to be at least aware of them. Especially if he's comparing it to other games, talking about it's impact and whatsoever.
Yakuza has 100% been exactly this from day 1 decades ago. _They just ramp up_ *EVERYTHING* _with each new installment._ Whether spin-off or mainline series game. *But each entry is **_easily_** a hundred hour time sink too.* So be careful.
It hasn't been like this since day 1, it really embraced the dual dimensions of super serious main story soap opera with manly yakuza dudes punching each other for honor and super silly side missions and mini games where you learn how to dropkick by pulling out your flip phone and recording an old lady on a mobility scooter jump over a car in the third entry, Yakuza 3. Since then, the first two games have been remade with the dual dimensions aspect added after in the Kiwami remakes. Trust me dude, the first two yakuza games original versions weren't this silly, but I'm glad the series ended up here. The silly side missions and mini games really do provide a relief from the emotionally intense main stories.
Actually, I think the first twos on ps2 already showed some signs of silliness. They have many mini games, and a good number of silly side missions too, they don't want to go all out crazy yet as they want to test the water and the studio was still small back then, one wrong move and it's over, as Japanese business culture tends to be merciless. They just really paid attention to how the fans think, and slowly, they show us their true colors like they are now, and we all love them, a mix seriousness and silliness.
If anybody wondering, yes that is Hawaii. They are literally showing Waikiki, Ala Moana, and Chinatown. I'm so surprised how close they recreated it while avoiding copyright issues. Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, Ala Moana Mall and River st/Chinatown.
I haven't played Infinite Wealth yet, I didn't know they went that true-to-life with the setting that's dope. Though, honestly, it shouldn't surprise me, considering how accurate Kabuki-cho and Osaka already were. We're talking about guys who are masters at their craft at this point. They're to open-world brawlers what FromSoft are to action RPGs.
This is an important topic in gaming actually. Because massive buildings are public and visible to everyone, you can't really put a copyright on them. You just can't name them the same exact thing. That's why we have empire state building copies or golden gate bridge etc
I think gamers have pretty much had their fill of "realistic games and realism" in video games. They just want games to be games again. Realistic games are fine but when every other game is going for realism, it becomes stale and predictable, and as of late, companies haven't even been getting the realism part correct either. They just want games to be fun

To be fair i dont think this is really such an immersive pirate experience. Looks totally over the top and thats ok. But id rather have a pirate game that doesnt feel like pirate superheroes on steroids. And no im not defending ubislop and their trash game
Yeah Like a Dragon just said "You know what Majima deserves? A vacation where he gets to go apeshit. As a pirate. In Hawaii." And everyone went hell yeah.
We need more games like this. Everybody is so focused on making a cinematic masterpiece (and don't get me wrong, I do love those) but so many studios have forgotten about the roots of gaming. Wacky wild adventure games that make no sense but are insanely fun to play!
This game look trash ASF what are you people 12?😂 Assassin creed black flag was the last good pirate game ever made everything else looks like bullshit
@@Zan-vk6gb comparing this to something like black flag is just a bulshit disingenuous comparison. It would be more accurate to compare it to something along the lines of sea of thieves. It is obviously a very different style of game. And that's the whole point I made. So many studios have completely forgotten the arcadia, goofy, action-filled nonsense kind of games that so many of us grew up on back in the early 2000s. So yes, it does look like a fun game to me. It is a very different kind of experience do something like Black flag. I am sooooo sorry if I have offended you by simply having a different opinion😱. I promise I will try harder to conform to exactly what you like in the future...
We are not saying AC4 black flag is not a masterpiece because the Black flag is a masterpiece nobody denying it. Best pirate game yes. "This feels like watching 4 games at the same time."... Pretty much the first impression I had after having played through Yakuza 0. Still have yet to play through the rest of the series.
U will enjoy 3 a lot give that when the game was at it top when it come to story not saying all the other is bad it just they will finish he story before 4 and 5 came alone to mix it up and we know how 6 is aka like a dragon came in
This is probably the best middle finger Sega can give to other AAA companies with an over the top game. It reminds me a bit of Saints Row 3 and 4 with the overpowered skills.
It's funny how the Yakuza franchise looks really silly if you look at the trailers. But it also legit has a serious and emotional story at the same time. They strike the perfect balance.
Like my first exposure to the franchise was Kiryu singing karaoke and Majima roller skate dancing while singing with backup dancers that are in roller skates too, so I was like "surely this is a lighthearted game", and boy was I wrong. There's a lot of painful and serious moments underneath that fun cover
One moment i watching two brothers say their goodbye and go their separated way for the sake of both, then on the next I'm on a training karaoke date with a hostess working in a cabaret club that I'm its manager.
It’s getting there. It was like a year or two pre-COVID I remember zero really took off for some reason and the ball been rolling faster and bigger for the series ever since. That’s from my noticing though.
Giant sharks and parrots, boomerang swords, and magic ninjitsu clones - cut to reality and what everone else sees Majima screaming hysterically while hitting an unconscious man over and over with a baseball bat
Majima laughing maniacally while firing lasers at a ship. Cut yo reality where he is on a cardboard box attached to a skateboard using laser points at people
actually, the only one living in a fantasy is ichiban, majima is actually pretty sane, he plays the character of being insane (he kinda is obsessed with kiryu tho.)
DUDE. THAT MIGHT NOT BE AS MUCH OF A JOKE AS YOU INTENDED. This game will inevitably draw discourse about how it compares to Skull And Bones (and by extension, Black Flag), and that's only gonna make Ubisoft once again look like shit. Not to mention it's a Japanese-developed game in a Western setting, which would draw DIRECT comparison to AC Shadows, which is a Western game set in an Eastern setting.
You know the best part. Is you can trust that studio to deliver a good product. They have a very good track record! They have also shown consistent IMPROVEMENT. This studio deserves your money. Ubisoft been real quiet since this dropped though 15:00 "ng+ will be available for FREEEE" Imagine that they listened to their players and even turned it into a meme. =] That was the one major complaint on their last title Asmon acting like he hasn't played Ichiban games and that's a damn crime. Those two games are, imo, the best turn based combat games on the market. They are so good!
Funny that he mentions everything looks like a mod. Yakuza is effectively the devs grabbing everything they've done before and stitching it all back together. Anything and Everything is on the table. You could see things from 4 games ago or a deep cut from the beggining. Truly a resourceful devi studio
@@arthurfelipe9980 Basically, the philosophy behind this decision is to make all the 10 Yakuza games be instantly recognizible and inviting for returning players to pick up. They are not the same games, new mechanics are constantly being added and tweaked and sometimes even reworked. But by the tone of your comment, you probably think FromSoftware is the first to ever do this (lmao)
As to how they're doing it, this studio is the master of reusing assets. Yakuza 0 is considered by many(maybe most) to be the best game in the whole series, and it's basically an asset Frankenstein's Monster of like 3 other games.
Western studios might be better at innovation, but Japanese corporates are better managing iteration. Don’t even need to look far, Elden Ring is the shining example of making good use of old assets and ideas. Someone once explained that it’s very simple, Japanese corporate try to retain creative managers, who gave good grasp on their organisation and situation, who make good use of old assets their team created in the past rather than circling through middle managers who have no idea what they made, and waste time making new stuffs rather than reusing good old stuffs. The effect on staff morale is profound too. If you are told your old works are going to be thrown out after the game release, you would work very different compare to if the assets you made 5 years ago are going to be feature on the box art.
Idk if yall noticed this but it looks like you can play Virtua Fighter 3 in this. This wouldn't be the first time they put an entirely different sega game inside of a Yakuza game, lol. In fact, for a while, it was the only way to play Virtua Fighter 5 on modern consoles. It ended up driving up interest in VF enough that it got its own separate official release, and we are finally getting a VF6 after nearly 20 years. Yakuza is so powerful and unhinged it ended up saving Virtua Fighter.
Somebody in the studio really looked at Majima's eyepatch and said "Yo, is this guy a pirate? Well, why not?" And everyone else was like "That's actually a good question."
Would be a good plot twist. He wakes up and is like I guess that was all a dream. Alright well let’s go find Ichiban and then the next game starts haha.

RGG is so far the only studio i would spend full price or hell even pre purchase, they know what the fans want and what they could have done better. They reused the assets cleverly too so they can remain the quality despite releasing games every year
RGG Studio really saw Sea of Thieves, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Skull and Bones, said "Hold my RUM!" and made a game that is x100 times better than all 3 of those games combined, in 1/4 of the time. INSANE. Eastern devs are a different breed entirely. THIS IS WHAT THE GAMING INDUSTRY NEEDS!!!

And this is just an in-between game that reuses a lot of assets from Like A Dragon 8. Like how 'Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name' was an in-between game.
This game is doing exactly what I think many modern games have lost. Hey lets do this thing because its a video game and there are no "realistic" things in a video game. Just fun because game!

@@CrzyLion It's one thing to play them, it's another thing to be at least aware of them.

Yakuza has 100% been exactly this from day 1 decades ago. _They just ramp up_ *EVERYTHING* _with each new installment._ Whether spin-off or mainline series game.
*But each entry is **_easily_** a hundred hour time sink too.* So be careful.
Ain’t no being too careful living the pirate life, this game I would not mind at all to sink that much time into.
No it isn’t Yakuza one and two are below 30 hours unless you do the dumb (and borderline evil) mini-games.
Yeah they're massive time sinks, unless you just do the main story, which tbh is wasting the game.
Meanwhile Ubisoft can't even recreate feudal Japan correctly.
It's all looks so close to IRL, can't wait!
You can't copyright a location dude
This is an important topic in gaming actually. Because massive buildings are public and visible to everyone, you can't really put a copyright on them. You just can't name them the same exact thing. That's why we have empire state building copies or golden gate bridge etc

When they kept milking their franchise, but the milk is good:
i mean, like i think now there is two yakuzas the turn based rpg and the beat em all rpg
They also released game multiple every year like ubislop but like they are better at making games
There was no way RGG was going to create the Hawaii map unless they could squeeze at least two or three games out of it. That's not how they roll.
