@Wasteds_not-important-fe2pv as with the other games, the Sword and Shield is a good starting weapon, especially in Wilds because it lets you dabble in a little bit of everything. It's got fast combos, lots of repositioning ability and low commitment on attacks. You can get in, get some hits, get back out with ease. It's a good starting weapon and lets you develop some fundamentals that the other weapons can expand on
Primary Chargeblade and probably Swax, since in the past i didnt like that the swax had no defensive moves, but that counter makes it look really interesting. But Hunting Horn also looks pretty good!
For players new to the series and looking for videos like this to know what to use, I would not recommend starting out with the bowguns. This isn’t because they’re harder or cheesier it’s because for early game it is very annoying to farm ammo so there’s nothing wrong with using it just be warned that ammo is consumable and annoying to farm. However, in all of the recent games there have been mechanics to easily, and passively, farm ammo so there is likely going to be a system like this in wilds meaning that if you are dead set on using nothing but bowguns, it does get much easier to get ammo so you’ll be fine once you get past the super early game. Good luck and happy hunting!

I'm hoping to go Charge Blade and Hunting Horn. Two pretty complicated weapons. CB for a balance of defense and offense when monster is scary when first learning its attack patterns, until i can punish it right back with phial burst damages. Plus slicing damage for tail cutting is fun. And then HH for fun heavy hitting while dancing around with music that buffs not just me but my whole team. @@Zahri8Alang eh, it's the anime weapon, and also the new player onboarding weapon. Back in the day swing commitment and sheathing were major bouncing points for new players, so they had sns. Now qol changes address those points already. Nowadays the main bounce point is the need to predict and position instead of react and counter to avoid damage. Long sword provides that reactive defense and it's reach makes positioning less relevant. So basically it's the noob baby weapon and if ls people ever get on a high horse or annoy you let them know that they are literally using a weapon designed to be a crutch for new players.
I wanna say double hammer but depending on how it works most likely hammer and hunting horn for some buffs. Not to mention I enjoy playing hunting horn on its own anyways. And then maybe swap one for Greatsword.
I‘m thinking that both weapons should synergise with similar armor skills. Right now I see myself at either Hammer-Greatsword, for the high damage charge weapons, one for stuns, one for tails, or Dual Blades Light Bowgun, for a status and/or element heavy loadout.
Sword and shield, Greatsword, Lance, Insect Glaive, and then maybe Gunlance if I time. I've never used Gunlance before but it looks super cool in this game.
Gunlance. Not only the coolest sounding weapon, it’s the coolest weapon. They fixed the mobility and end lag issues it had in World and I love it even more now.
Main: Hammer. Always has been Side: I actually quite enjoyed the longsword in the beta. I've never really been all that enamoured with it before, but I actually like it quite a bit in this one
Im going to rock with DB and Bow and my two, they go well since you have to manage stamina with both and have great mobility. Need constitution and evasion skill bonuses and I’ll be good
I swapped main weapons every game since Unite, but I stopped in fifth gen. I got into horn in World, and it was different enough in Rise that I stuck with it. I'm seriously debating staying on with it for Wilds because horn has been ultra fun, and it looks like it's just getting better. If I swap though, I'm probably heading to charge blade, because it is the weapon I've used the least over the course of the series. That being said, if we get stupidly lucky and get another weapon with no warning, I'm diving straight for it.
Tough question. IG was a blast with aerial style in MHW (not optimal but fun) I will try all the "fast weapons" and chose but maybe a double kind with 2 element/status to make hunt easier
Probably Great Sword and Lance. Nothing more satisfying then letting a monster hit you so that you can hit it back harder But a lot of weapons look great Sword and Shield really does it all: KO, Mounting (jumping attacks), elemental / status, power clashes Hunting Horn: it's just a hammer, but better. Bigger range and buffs Charge Blade: a CB with paralysis is really great in multiplayer. Keeping the monster down so that the rest can get some free damage in
Played a couple hours tonight with greatsword and switch axe. The game overall feels great, but it took me a second to acclimate because everything felt a little more stilted and sluggish than World. That is starting to change now I am getting used to focus mode though, and I wonder if that’s by design because attacks are allowed to be less preemptive and more reactive this time round. Great game, although the greatsword doesn’t have the same meaty feel when you land your big number attacks, and that’s bumming me out. Still though, first impressions is that it’s like the guiding lands turned into a proper game, and I am SO excited for it based on what I’ve played
Main: Hammer
Secondary: A weapon that only exists so I can finally cut tails
Greatsword, it feels impactful like the hammer you will enjoy it

Secondary: Another hammer

@@samfish2550 hm, maybe since all kinsects can unleash Dusts now(I presume, but the gameplay footages recently barely shows them/or they're just that difficult to see or people just aren't deploying their kinsects to release Dusts.....
Maybe they introduce more Dust effects or maybe they'll build upon the Kinsects specialisation again and have some Kinsects trees that's more catered for direct damage, better Dust unleashing or have more unique charged action....
Cop
@@Zahri8Alang eh, it's the anime weapon, and also the new player onboarding weapon.
Back in the day swing commitment and sheathing were major bouncing points for new players, so they had sns.
Now qol changes address those points already. Nowadays the main bounce point is the need to predict and position instead of react and counter to avoid damage. Long sword provides that reactive defense and it's reach makes positioning less relevant.
So basically it's the noob baby weapon and if ls people ever get on a high horse or annoy you let them know that they are literally using a weapon designed to be a crutch for new players.
@@samfish2550 now now, make fun of the weapon, not the players
Leaning hunting horn this weekend just for the beta!
Primary: Greatsword
Secondary: Hammer
Yes same
I'll be going in with G.lance and Hunting horn, as those two I've never tried. Comfort backup pick would be Swaxe and H.Bowgun!
Hammer go bonk Baby!!!
Main: Greatsword & IG (cautiously optimistic about the changes)
Secondary: Bow, Chargeblade.
For sure taking switch axe and hunting horn, by far my 2 favorite looking weapons in terms of aesthetics and new moves
Main: lance
Secondary: heavy Bowgun, cause shooting from the back of the mount is absolutely badass
Switch Axe was my main in World/Rise
Also Hunting Horn
I actually already know what to use its just i cant get enough of mh wilds videos and i cant wait another week to play the demo
Probably Lance mostly then switch between SnS, Greatsword, Hammer. But will most likely try most weapons in the end game :)
Gunlance. Not only the coolest sounding weapon, it’s the coolest weapon. They fixed the mobility and end lag issues it had in World and I love it even more now.
Main: Switch Axe
Secondary: Heavy Bowgun
or maybe a light one (depending on monster)
Got to be Gunlance, and an LBG. Indescribably excited for this , lets' gooo!
Main: Hammer. Always has been
Side: I actually quite enjoyed the longsword in the beta. I've never really been all that enamoured with it before, but I actually like it quite a bit in this one
Long Sword, Sword N Shield, Hunting Horn, Insect Glaive & Dual Blades. Those are my go-to weapon classes.
Charge Blade and Hunting horn here, though gunlance has also become a recent favorite of mine
I've loved Gunlance since its introduction, so it is an easy pick. Secondary though? Tough choice but maybe I'd give the Lance or Hunting Horn a go.
Im going to rock with DB and Bow and my two, they go well since you have to manage stamina with both and have great mobility. Need constitution and evasion skill bonuses and I’ll be good
the GL has a Drill that "can pierce the heavens" gotta love me some Tengen Toppa reference
I've been rolling dice to decide recently, but I want to take another "swing" at the hammer, and as my secondary maybe the gunlance.
IG was a blast with aerial style in MHW (not optimal but fun)
I will try all the "fast weapons" and chose but maybe a double kind with 2 element/status to make hunt easier
I’ll probably try gunlance and charge blade first because the changes to both those weapons look incredible
Im rocking that hh and gs for that sweet wake up damage
Probably Great Sword and Lance. Nothing more satisfying then letting a monster hit you so that you can hit it back harder
But a lot of weapons look great
Sword and Shield really does it all: KO, Mounting (jumping attacks), elemental / status, power clashes
Hunting Horn: it's just a hammer, but better. Bigger range and buffs
Charge Blade: a CB with paralysis is really great in multiplayer.
Long sword and hammer, best of both worlds.
Also swapping in and out for switch axe, dual blades, and insect glaive.
CB main here, will definately stick to it. But I will most likely play a GL as well. Shields up, Ironbreaker ;-)
I don't have a dedicated one,
I shuffle between Gunlance, Dual Blades, Switchaxe, and Charge Blade, though I use Gunlance and Dual Blades the most.
Primary: Charge blade
Secondary: LBG or HBG
I want to test an idea of using CB as main with bowgun for some utility.
