  • LiftMaster made a change to their flagship garage door opener motor. It's a step backwards but I think it was a smart move.

    Have you ever installed a Liftmaster 84501? And what do you think about this model.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  6 месяцев назад

      Hello. Thank you for the question. The 84501 was LiftMaster's first iteration of this belt drive operator. The 84501 does not include a battery backup or an HD camera.
      But this motor has now been discontinued and replaced with the 84505R. And the business model that LiftMaster is pursuing includes a security camera in all of their upcoming models. Some models will include a battery backup in the case of the 84504R.
      Nevertheless if you can find this model for a good deal then it might be worth considering.

    Is this the most quiet motor that Liftmaster sells (that's not a wall mount)? My master bedroom is right above the garage and I can't take my current chain LiftMaster. I think it would be so helpful if you could include specs around how loud the motor itself is when operating or even a clip of it operating so we can get an idea. I saw your video on the Linear motor and it is soooo quiet, that's what I'm looking for but I'm not sure how to get my hands on one.

      I am trying to work on a motor with a decibel reader. Hope to have one out soon.

      These motors tend to have a vibration noise associated with the casing but recently I noticed more and more of them do not have this sound im referring to anymore. I can vouch for "ultra quiet belt" genies as far as noise level, but longevity is yet to be determined.

    We built a new home about two years ago and the builder installed this brand of opener and the range on the transmitters is really bad ,even went as far as to put an extender on one of them and still no range,l remember back in the day the old transmitters would work from 75-100 feet away

      @sosgds  9 месяцев назад

      Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience. I haven't heard of many issues with the transmitter range. I do know that LiftMaster recently changed their software for the remote transmitters. Was the installer able to confirm if the logic board software can be updated?

    • @barnhousegarage
      @barnhousegarage 9 месяцев назад +1

      @sosgds not sure,l don't think he wants to meet with them he made the statement that the openers were of poor quality when he installed them l may have to talk with someone else and ask about different software

      @@barnhousegarage You said brand so I need to ask, does it have light bulbs you put in or is it built in lights like the one in the video?

    • @barnhousegarage
      @barnhousegarage 7 месяцев назад +1

      @Darkshark420 not sure about the bulbs,l will check because someone else ask about if l had led bulbs or regular bulbs,they were saying led bulbs interfere with the signal?

    • @Darkshark420
      @Darkshark420 7 месяцев назад

      @@barnhousegarage Certain led bulbs yes. If it is the built in lights like in this video then that's not the problem. But if it's a traditional light bulb set up, then it's the light bulbs that have been the culprit for years. You can use led bulbs as only certain ones interfere, I'm not sure exactly which led bulbs as this was only discovered relatively recently in the industry.

    They did it because the camera vibrates and makes noise.

    I couldn't disagree more. LM keeps increasing their prices while removing features. They took away the camera rotation and the 6' power cord. Genie continues to be the better motor and value. LM/Chamberlain continue to remove features and cut costs simply to drive profits. 90% of my customers don't want a camera in their opener because high-end clients already have survelience cameras in their garage. Their "flagship" motors used to mean something, now they just mean more $$.

      Thank you for the great insight. I see your perspective. LiftMaster has transitioned their brand to follow the Apple structure. Their motors even look like the iPhone Pro MAX. The camera continues to be what they lead with on their motors because of the revenue generated by their services. But it's as you say, they care about the bigger picture: $$$

      Genie is garbage period

    • @natespann29
      @natespann29 6 месяцев назад

      @@samsquires2877no… no they’re not lol. LM has become garbage while Genie has done a full 180. I’ve put in hundreds of operators from both brands and LiftMaster operators are no longer the professional grade units they claim to be. Genie operators are quieter, don’t have the quality control issues LM does, and their tech support is light years ahead of LM/Chamberlain. You can continue to drink the LM koolaid but the industry has shifted towards other brands because dealers are tired of the callbacks, quality control issues, and lack of dealer support.
