Those notches on the trigger are basically for how hard you want to fish to “pull” before setting it off. The farther down, it’ll be easier to trip, probably the reason you had some go off with no fish
The best thing about all your PBs is that they all get to swim free to one day give you ur new PB. Amazing footage man, I look up to you and hope I can get something similar going.

Nothin better than playin outside in the water and gettin dirty . Catchin all kinds & sizes of fish . Slicin up a couple of drumm & pullin the guts out . Trompin thru briar's like a rabbit dog . Priceless .
The next logical step would be a device that gets up at 5am, drives 50 miles and catches fish while you stay in bed! For me, most of the pleasure is feeling that first bite and the rush you get trying to set the hook. I, personally, don't want a gadget to take that away.

I caught a bowfin when I was fishing with my brother, it was like the 4th fish I’ve ever gotten cause I just started getting into fishing but damn it fought hard I thought it was going to break the pole!
@@deathtoliberals7843 bow fin and arapaima are both native to there countries (arapaima,South America) bowfin (North America) bowfin are native fish and not a trash fish they are big predators that keep shiners,Shad,bluegill,creek chub , etc in check. They have a good impact on the environment, and if you took bowfin out of a lot of places it would suddenly change the environment and the food chain like, flathead eats bowfin,bowfin eats bluegill, bluegill eats minnow etc, they are Not a trash fish!

That rod wasn't in the self setting holder. it was just laying on the ground. It you look to the left you will see it sitting there without a rod in it.

I am wondering about how to handle some of the catfish? I have heard a lot of different things like "don't touch the whiskers etc" so does each kind of catfish need to be handled differently?
The whiskers wont do anything, they use them to help find food on the bottom, its the side and top fins that you need to watch out for, they are hard as steel and are VERY sharp, like a needle sharp..if they stab you it releases a fluid that causes swelling and alot of pain, the baby catfish are the ones to really watch out for cause they jump around alot, and bigger catfish can be held by the lip for easy grip

When you're fishing do you ever save any for lunch or dinner? I just moved to Tennessee and haven't had a chance to get my fishing license or go fishing, that type of Rod setter would work great for me as I have a tendency to let the fish swallow the hook before setting it.

I’ve only caught one bowfin in my 28 years alive. Was the hardest fighting fish I’ve ever caught. Instantly thought snakehead. I had to ask someone what it was.
They are all over Wisconsin. They used to piss us off when we were catfishing. Considered trash fish up here. We call them dogfish. Cant even use them for cut bait because nothing will bite on it.
Flatheads are such great fish. I worked for a state game and fish agency one summer. We trapped giant flatheads in big reservoirs and then put them in some of the smaller state lakes, for folks to catch. They can be so impressive! Hope you catch an even bigger one sometime!
Gotta love them Ugly Sticks! I have one that I use for my Sturgeon rod. That thing has taken a LOT of abuse, & is still reliable 15 years after I bought it!
I don’t understand. The Flathead is a type of catfish, isn’t it? The catfish I have caught were all bottom feeders. I assumed that the first flathead that was caught here, was a bottom feeder because the line was rigged with the worm at the end, with a weight ahead of it, putting the bait on or slightly off the bottom. You said that the size of the first bullhead would make good bait for the flathead. So are the flathead not actually bottom feeders?
@@Leo-zd7nv since no one has answered your question, although catfish are mostly caught on the bottom their not exactly bottom feeders they're all actually predatory fish and prefer the bait fish in their area. But they're not picky and will take an easy meal when it's they get the chance. I say mostly caught on the bottom but can be caught under a bobber and thats my preferred method for Flatheads in slack water. And yes the bullhead is a type of catfish. Catfish are cannibals also and will eat other catfish even of the same species.
Idk how the heck you trout fish, but this would not be at all suited for stream fishing for trout in my mind. I mean heck, set the hook, some the trout up here that thing would toss up on the bank for you.
Dill what area in Nc u in.....I am to I fish Sharon Harris and Lake Jordan alot....great catfishing at Jordan rather bass fish at Harris lake but both pretty good holes
I might have to give these a shot on my channel. I know a few river spots that could be set up perfectly for these rigs! I think putting them in mud or very coarse gravel would work better hopefully! I also noticed the one you were holding at the end of the video the plastic strap was already torn from one day of use.
Very good videos. Where are you that you can use multiple poles at the same time? Where I am (Ontario Canada ) you’re allowed one line with no more than four hooks . In boats on a lake you’re allowed two poles and I think same for ice fishing.

Exactly. If you find yourself missing some fish, put the line higher up on the trigger, allowing for a less sensitive strike trigger.

My best is a 46 pound king salmon in Ketchikan Alaska. Could have won 8,000 dollars if I would have caught it two days later during the derby.

The biggest catfish I caught was with my son playing with bluegill on the bank of a river in GA it was 34 pounds

APACHE- ADVENTURES they really don’t release a fluid, it’s just the slime that can cause an infection if not treated properly.
