My father always used a rooster tail. 1/6 oz. yellow. If I had to pick one lure for a survival kit it'd be that. I miss my father dearly, my fishing buddy. God Bless to all anglers.
yes yelliw in lines sre freat i have bettet luck with the white blue fox #3 in line
God bless for you and your dad I tried to use a rooster tail no luck I catch everything on soft plastic I'm going to try a rooster tail this year again
@@50JoshLovesFishing they work better in rivers . i did use a blue vibrax with way better luck in white size 3 & 4 for lg. mouth Bass.
@@GRILLBUOY101 I'm going to bass pro after work tomorrow so I'll probably pick one up try them out again I'm getting zoom flukes they are awesome I highly recommend them
@@50JoshLovesFishing get yourself a copper tinel black rooster tail in 1/8th oz should change the way you look at them. this year alone that color has caught over 50 trout and an innumerable amount of panfish and several bass.
It's amazing how the last couple videos you're catching big bass and having a blast and then today you catch 4 inch bream and...you're still having a blast. Keep it up!
Rooster tail has been my go to for more than 20 years!!! Always catches something even when they ain't biting!!!
The small Roostertails are classic ! I like the chartruse and other lighter colors best. Always love the WORD ! Be safe. Randy B.
First time I used a Rooster Tail lure was back in 1973 in a little creek called Knob Creek(before there was a whiskey by the same name) just outside of Fort Knox KY. Caught several small bass. Fast forward to 1997, I’m now in the USAF and spending a little down time on Santa Rosa Island FL casting a little yellow Rooster Tail into the surf. That lure caught a fish on EVERY cast! I’ve never had a lure be so successful. Rooster Tail lures can be hard to find so I always pick them up when I find them. Cheers
Eglin or Hurburt field I assume?
hey Bud...lol... this vid brings me back to your first old school ones.... THIS is creek fishing...lol...great job...
These are my favorite types of creeks.
I mentioned this awhile back when you was fishing in Hopkinsville KY. Lol. Worked every time I used them.
Been a subscriber for a while now. Stoked to see the UK gear. Go big Blue!
I'll be glad when we get some more warm weather. I can't get out in the winter much. I love watching your videos. The Creek adventure is great. And the word of the Lord 🙌
Went fishing today and found a nice creek. Pulled out 3 big bass. Love your videos. They remind me to get out on the water
Joe makes really really good rods. I love mine
God bless you for supporting UK
I discovered Rooster Tails while stationed at Ft. Knox, KY. Best all-around lure for largemeouth, smallmouth, crappie, and all sunfish that I've ever found. Bumblebee pattern, rootbeer brown with gold blade, green with gold blade, and my go-to: black with silver blade.
Big fan of Beetle Spins for panfish/smaller bass. My go to most of the time. Thanks for another great video!
Love the red rooster tail but also love a lure I’ve been using for over 60 years called “ C P Swing”!!❤❤
Great video John! Things are waking up in your neck of the woods. Been kicking pretty good in Fla., the winds that is! Creeks are the only places to go, and the fish are stacked at the mouths bordering lakes. The fish like the clear creek water to hang out, and hit the seams of roiled lake water with bait getting washed around to feed. Beetle spins are a solid choice, and small 2” Countdown Rapala’s. God Bless!
My favorite is a 1/16oz white with red belly beetlespin(not split tail). I generally run an ultralight with 6lb braid and 4 lb leader, that gives me the versatility to bass fish with the same rod because a 4lb bass on an ultralight rod is just plain awesome!
Ps. Whatever you do, don't ever get rid of the Bible verse at the end, they mean a lot!
Rooster Tails has been catching all kinds of species of fish for over 70 years. They work as well now as they did when they were first developed. I have been fishing small local rivers for nearly 60 years. Always a "go to" lure. You can pretty much always count on catching something on them. My favorite's are the white, black, and silver.
Nice video, looks like a fine little creek.
I've always had better luck with beetlespins in tiny creeks, caught my biggest muskie on a 1/16oz beetlespin jig with a 2inch powergrub for a trailer.
@@buddyrevelle736 Another lure that is nearly 65 years old. I always have one or two in my kit when I hit the creeks, or fishing anywhere for that matter.
They do get hung up far less than the rooster tails, and can do just as well or better in various conditions.
Always a great choice.
John I love the videos where you fish the small creeks. They are best!
Just wade in my backyard creek, first time catching bass in the creek and oh man I’m hooked. Although it was just a baby I know there’s bigger ones there!!
I did a little research about bass and a 10” bass is big enough to reproduce. I don’t know if bass stay in little creeks much past that size but it explains why you can find bass which can spawn there but may not be that big.
thats interesting
I moved to NYC and started fishing the waters of Central Park and the Rooster Tail never fails to produce. Even the Bronx River has some great sections with really big bass and bluegill.
Good stuff man. I love hearing the birds in the background. 👍👍
Have a lot of memories of Coopers Creek North Georgia catching loads of brooks on the old rooster tail!! Nice fishing thanks for sharing place looks great
Yesterday I caught a little 1 pounder rock bass, and a big ol slab blue gill and numerous other sunfish all ona little rooster tail tiger color. One of the first lures I ever picked up as a kid and I still throw them from Time to time today. An absolute timeless classic for ab every species you could think of! I appreciate these videos a bunch man everytime I see you upload I gotta hit the water too, even in the winter man. Please keep ‘em coming and remember to watch out for those big ol snappa turlas😂
Learn how to spell
It turned out to be a great day in the Creek. Well done, sir.
I went this afternoon as well and did quite well, several Smallie (1×14in) and Rockbass! Everything I caught was on a Rooster Tail!
Thank you for sharing. God bless you and family. I love this creek fishing...🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
Thanks John. A rooster tail is my fav. Hubby is always trying to catch that big ol bass, but I am happy just catching those little blue gil and whatever else is out there. I like the color you are using and I find that in my area they tend to like the hot pink. I have caught my pb on a little rooster tail. Hubby was kind of put out that I got a bigger fish than he did.😄
Its impressive how much walking & wading you did for this video, John! But we sure do appreciate all the hard work you do to bring us a video! THANK YOU!! :-)
The first video of yours I watched probably 5 years ago and it was just like this. I know you do a lot of kayaking now but there’s just nothing like wading a creek or small river for whatever bites.
John you always have so much fun fishing no matter where or what you're fishing for! Thanks for sharing!
This is such a layed back channel it’s cool seeing you fish in little areas like this!! This channel rocks!
thanks
we don't really have any creeks where i live, but it's nice to see you pull up fish out there in the south
all the tree issues ... looks like a normal day for me. 😂
Awesome times! I grew up in Dayton and couldn't care less about fishing back then. Now that I'm in middle Ga where the fishing... isn't great... I'm getting into it. I'll be back home for good soon, though and you're getting me excited about what I've been missing. I pray God keeps blessing you! -Mike
haha, aint that the way it goes
Just couldn’t leave without a couple more casts! I feel ya there.
“You got to start small to get big.” The wisdom is strong with this one, Obi-wan.
The yellow with black dots in 1/8oz has caught countless fish for me from 8lb bass to 40+in pike and tons of steelhead. Awesome lure
wow thats cool
Thanks for another fun video. I like in-line spinners and small tubes.
brother i dont even fish but your video popped up and it was wholesome.
Yellow rooster tail is my go to lure.
Great Creek Fishing Adventures video we've come to love John. When I'm chasing creek panfish and small bass I always like to have these 3 lures. Beetle Spin 🪲 and Rooster Tails in 1/16 ounce and a Road Runner jig same size. I pack a few jigs in case they want it slower but the go-to 3 are the search and destroy baits to find them. Yellow and firetiger inline spinners for a bit of stained water, white When it's clear. I like the root beer chartreuse or res tail 1 inch grub on the Road Runner. Beetle Spin is green and orange, black and stripes solid body. That rod seems perfect, since I'm shorter it's 5'6 or 6' light action. Blessings brother
Well, I think this time of year I like to use a Rebel Crick Hopper. Smaller sizes work great in middle Tennessee. I am not sure about in East Tennesse, but I am guessing it is about the same.
Nice maiden voyage for the new custom rod.
Not bad for just a couple hours of fishing.
Hi Bro. John,
You were SO right! That "Bonus" Red Breast at the end, WAS worth waiting around to see! 😊
I stuck around after reading the Bible verse like I always do, as I know you often add on an additional catch right at the end of your videos; and as someone who loves to catch Bluegill, Red Breast, & other types of Sunfish, it was totally worth it to me, to see you land that SLAB like you did!!
Now, to find a way that I can finally afford to buy a new Rod & Reel Combo a License, & some Tackle, so that I can go out and do that same kind of fishing for myself!! 😊
Continued luck with great catches, in the creeks & rivers, brother!!
Take Care & God Bless,
Ron H.
Abilene, TX.
The last redbreast was huge did a good job there buddy
I really like your channel. My dad used red rooster tails. I don't have a favourite. Well maybe white doll flies, red jighead and green thread wrap
14:55 John, when you said you may have gotten spoiled… I just want you to know…..
That you are. 😂
I love doing this. I don't care if I'm just catching creek chubs and the occasional rock bass. I love it.
Got to pull the trigger on a new ultralight reel and get at it.
Love the creek fishing hat ! Awesome videos
I love when you fish these small creeks!!
That looks like...Candies Creek! LOL kinda made me go wait a moment when you mention Fish tales, Might have to try going out there if they ever finish that construction out there on the hwy. Nice to see a fellow local lol.
I use a beetle spin all the time on the creek and catch all kinds of fish . I would love to do what you do and have some videos.
I love this lure one of my favorites, I wish I could find some single hook ones
Rooster tails are amazing lures they will catch everything also the gulp minnows are awesome creek lures
Fun fishing. And a bonus fish at the end!!! 👍
Nice video! I like using the teeny pop-r in small creeks on UL gear. Right now, rooster tails are getting it done.
looked like a fun, stress free fishing day
The mighty Rooster Tail. It does two things really, really well... catching fish and twisting your line :P.
Great video, thanks for taking me fishing with you it's been a long week 👍
The rooster tail is a classic I use them allot myself great video
I love April that's my birth month, I just turned 42 a few weeks ago,for my birthday I took off&went fishing 🎣
Also, I’d love to see you try to target some parksville muskie. I loved the videos of you catching them below parksville dam. Thanks.
Thanks John for sharing, stay blessed.
My favorite creek lures; rebel teeny craw and the next size up, Gitzit 2" tube jig in Black. Don't let the size scare you, small fish will bite it. It also target the big fish you're passing right by.
Rooster tails are the best! My all around go to.
Try using a bait that looks like a wax worm. I've taken white 4-inch worms and cut them to match the size of a wax worm. Wading small creeks or wadeable rivers, this size bait works well. As for a spinner, I like the Mepps over the rooster tail. It casts better, and the blade is more flashy while spinning.
Cool blue pliers. 🐠
This the fishing I love and your videos awesome my friend gets me by when I can't get to the water
Rooster tails are a go to of me and my buddies in Central Ohio
You make the most best videos ever
Good video and explanations. That creek reminds me of a local MI Creek that I often fish.
Beetle spins and soft plastic shad on a jig head (particularly one with a spinner blade) have to be the ultralight lures I have the best success with. I live in south Louisiana, so the water can get pretty murky due to the clay soils, so anything with a lot of flash or vibration tends to be good. Rooster tails also work really well, but the fish just can't stay off of the beetle spins and shad
Loved it ! I often use Gulp minnows 1 & 2 inch on a 1/64 or 1/32 jig head also anything slab tail. I love experimenting with new lures too.
Gotta be honest, I've been team panther martin for creek trout. Number 1 in gold blade with bare treble has caught me many browns and mountain whites.
Love worms but really enjoying those Bobby garlands you got me on. May have to use those trout magnets next
Another great video John.... big or small... glad to see all you show us... and the nature around your area.. God Bless... may He keep giving you success in all you do...~D~
I still have several cards of Rooster tails and Mepps Squirrel Tail spinners from the late 1960"s when I worked at a sporting goods store in Western Kentucky. And some Creme Purple worms that are about mush! LOL. That was before Viet Nam for me!
And a full card of 1/3 Oz. Sidewinders for Kentucky/Barkley Lakes!
Yaassssssss My favorite river n creek lure. Let's go oooooooo hell yeah dude!!🤘🤘 going to fully watch the video here in a min
Love these types of videos no baitcasters nooooooo🤣🤣
today i put out a crawdad trap with a chicken thigh in a side channel of the Kalamazoo river in Plainwell, MI. I hope that over the next couple days it will give me live crawdads for bait so that I can see what fish are in this little race channel. wish you could be here to give me some tips. I'm so new to Michigan. Spent my whole life on the left coast in WA state
Carry rooster tails and mister twister tailed jigs in my travel combo, never know when you need pull over for a few casts.
I just ordered some stuff from Mule fishing and got some of his new burrow bugs. I'm ready to do some ultralight fishing in the creeks around here in NW AL and try them out. 👊👍
Rooster tail is one of my favorite lures! If I don’t know what is in the water a rooster tail will let me know real quick! From greedy little sunfish to big crappie to Gar and bass. Everything hits a rooster tail!
I cant help but think you'd benefit from sharpening your hooks or getting higher quality ones, because your hook-sets are on point, but the fish still pop off, its a bit odd to me. The day I switched to sharper hooks it changed everything for me. Just a suggestion!
Rooster Tails are awesome. May I suggest you try a Super Duper! You wont regret it (I hope!)
Great shirt John!
My favorite lure for creeks, a tiny torpedo (top water).
when i go creek fishing i wanna have as much luck as this guy
Nice looking creek
In Indiana, red rooster tails have always been great in creeks
Love a rooster tail. Big blue nation 🤙🏼
Another great video! Nice Redbreast!
Love creek fishing!
Two things I always take wade fishing...hemostats and fingernai clippers!!
That looks like a lot of fun Thanks 🙏
Still take sons out to local creek with rooster tail! Like the super rooster tail!
I caught a possum corpse on a rooster tail once... my reliable lures here in the small creeks are- Rebel crickhopper and crawdad. Small poppers.
I love the Arkie sexed tail shad. They catch creek fish and are durable. I’ve caught a lot of sun fish and smallies with it.
Just found this channel and loving it. Subbed
thanks
