My brother and I nearly won a bass fishing tournament in Lake Fork several years ago on rooster tails alone. The only reason we didn't was because we were listening to the "experienced fishermen" (our father and a cousin) who were in another boat that were promising us big catches on worms and lizards, and my brother and I switched to rooster tails in the last hour before we had to weigh in. We caught 10+ bass in that last hour between the two of us on rooster tails in the shallows along the bank. Best hour of fishing in our lives. We were cursing ourselves for not switching to rooster tails sooner because we essentially wasted 12 hours of fishing time using black worms and green lizards because of our father and cousin (who only caught one tourney eligible bass) were swearing we would do well with.
Rooster tails were my Dad's favorite, I have maybe a hundred in all colors and sizes I collected, and use them sometimes when the sun is bright just to see whats biting. I have seen other people catch a little fish and a bass or something else eat the little fish but not had it happen to me, it's funny to see the little fish in the big fish's mouth when taking out the hook.
I was just in Dayton last week for a pickleball tournament right there at that bridge. The whole time I was wishing I had brought my gear to fish instead.
Another awesome Creek Fishing Adventure! Scouting has led to my most fun fishing experiences! Hooking into the White and Yellow Bass is always exciting! That was such a cool catch of the Largemouth! Great video brother! Thanks for sharing!
I thought it was really cool how that four pounder came up and ate that yellow Bass😂❤ maybe ought to come back there with a MAG draft! Also thought you'd like to know I got a carbon X-II spinning reel, and a serpent rod, both looked really sweet from picifun with your link❤❤❤
hey john, that was awesome fishing trip. and to imagine you werent even thinkin you were gonna do good. That largemouth eating the yellow bass was the coolest thing ive watched on youtube in a looong time. Ty for sharing and tight lines john...your friend and supporter gerry from NJ.
I’m going to put everyone on to the best roostertail ever created. 1/16 oz with gold blade, yellow trailer, and a half green/orange body. Thank me later.
In my experience Spring large mouth will be holding, feeding along the shoreline. They move back to cover, structure and deeper water after the spawn. However, a fish on every cast! Awesome!!
Man that’s spot look so peaceful and you catching fish I would never leave. If you don’t mind me asking where is this place and what is that setup you using
Going to a “secluded” creek fishing spot for the first time tomorrow. I can’t wait, creeks seem like a blast to fish. I’m glad I live in an area where you can accessibly fish (there’s nothing else to do here lol)
@@licon452 The creek was a bust sadly. It was too dense and I think I actually went to the wrong creek lol. It was still a ton of fun to “hike” there and back. There are two creeks right next to each other and I picked the wrong one lol. We’re going to head back soon and check out the right creek this time.
I went fishing the other day in 35 40mph winds. It was awful dealing with it but the fish were biting like crazy. Maybe they know people dont fish in the wind.
I caught my first white bass last April! I was so excited. I've only ever caught mostly catfish and small pan fishes on live baits (worms and chicken livers etc) before last year. I caught my first LM bass last year, too! On lures! I wish we had creeks like this in my neck of Oklahoma! I love watching your videos!!
Lost a 5 lb bass today then my old lady brings in a hog and I didn’t get anything the rest of the day I went to the tackle shop and I’m loaded for tomorrow lake day bass beware 😂
Nuttin better than creek fishing ! Those roosters cast well when it’s windy. Got me 8 little rock bass in a creek today just up from that river in Knoxville you guys did so many floats on this last fall. I saw a guy get a big smallie on the opposite bank when i arrived. I unfortunately could not locate one for myself, but 8 fish is my second most ever in one day.
@@nappyroots3717 there is a creek in the Mascot community called Flat Creek. A bridge goes over the creek around Mascot Road and Limestone Road. It gets fished a lot and seemingly for good reason. Don’t catch em all before i go back lol
I just getting into fresh water 💧 fishing from salt water up here in New England! I will definitely Ck out rooster tails yellow and gold! Thanks!😎🇺🇸☘️👻
Any kind of small river or creek fishing a in-line spinner like a rooster tail has got to be in your tackle box. Before I owned a boat I use to wad and bank fish a lot. I couldn’t tell you how many 3 plus pound largemouths I’ve caught on rooster tails. Even though I mainly fish out of a boat I sometimes wonder why I don’t have a rooster tail in the boat.
I lost my favorite rooster tail as a kid fishing about 2 feet from the bank early in the morning . I was ripping along the bank and the whole surface exploded and I seen a large blue back roll out of the water and my rod doubled down . Then I remembered the reason were were allowed to come and go from the old man's pond was because we had given him six large blue cats and flatheads from our pond when we were evicted ! ( Green nuts in a dam bag ) papa
An awesome day of fishing! Wish we had those white and yellow bass here in New Jersey. We got White Persrch which are similar and some hybrid bass in certain lakes.
Great decision to stop and explore. I really liked how you found fish you weren't expecting then by default break off your backup lure slays them. This was a multi species gem. The bass eats on the yellow bass were crazy 🤪 😳. Blessings brother
You caught a good mess of white bass to have a fish fry, that was a cool catch of the LM bass, never seen that happen in real time, it pays to explore!👍
I was getting skunked the other day for like an hour and half after trying all the micro lures I had i switched to that rooster tail and started getting smoked bro
The only way you wouldn't catch bass and bream on a rooster tail, is staying home and watching TV. Fun video, thanks.

Yellow rooster tails and gold blade Mepps have been standard items in my tackle box for over 50yrs. They catch everything!
Yes...mepps with tail or eggs work great.
i like the mepps black fury 3
AT about 6:37 there is a large bird that came out of the woods. It looked as if it might be a turkey.
Love the work you’re doing. Thank you.

Pound for pound white bass are one of the hardest fighting fish. Really fun on ultralight during spawning season.
It's coming to my neck of the woods soon! Thanks John.
Water looks beautiful! Not a ton of places like that
Bluegill and rockbass are my favorite plant fertilizer.
Creek fishing is on fire 🔥 right now
That’s a cool video for your intro

I was just in Dayton last week for a pickleball tournament right there at that bridge. The whole time I was wishing I had brought my gear to fish instead.
oh thats neat
Yellow bass are bait stealers. Yellow bass a very plentiful and do not get very big. Yellow bass are good cut bait for catfish.
If that was a 4# bass, I have some gold and silver to sell ya.
ok
Did you see the turkey accosted the creek, almost were you were casting at the start of this video, you didn't say anything about it.
Looked like a goose to me. Walked like a goose anyway...
Got milk?
Everything is spawning! Best time to fish creeks! The bite was on fire!
At 66 years old I have been using and enjoy fishing with Mepps and Shysters.
I have caught a lot of different fish with them. You caught many fish.
Love the classic intro. Always will. This video was awesome. Sometimes the rooster tail can't be beat.

Yeah I fuck with these
Rooster tail, mepps, been catching fish for a long time, everything bites them, silver is what I always had luck with, or black mepps spinner baits
I love throwing rooster tails. One of my favorite baits !
Go to bass pro and get the flame mylar and white mylar sonic rooster tail and you'll tear up the bass
Great video John, went to my local creek today and did some great fishing, I also started making fishing videos because of you 👍
The Panther Martin size#4 is also great! I actually switched to them after using Rooster tails for years
This was a very exciting video John, keep them coming🐟🎣🐟🎣
In my experience Spring large mouth will be holding, feeding along the shoreline. They move back to cover, structure and deeper water after the spawn. However, a fish on every cast! Awesome!!
Things work out. Good video John
That was super awesome seeing those largemouth bass going after the yellow bass!!! Aggressive fellows for sure 👍 👌 💯
awesome content...love that spot.... i guess white bass were in schools....thanks for the beautiful scenery
Beautiful stream. Love watching you fish.
One in doubt, cast a rooster tail. I've caught just about everything on a rooster tail. My favorite
Love the intro LOL, Thanks John, it made my day.
I love rooster tails for trout fishing.
I love the rooster tails!
One of the best lures made!❤❤
FACTZ/PREACH

Absolutely awesome footage John! You’re certainly blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the country
The mic was doing a great job. Some of the the best SOP in the wind.
When I'm creek fishing in my kayak people are constantly surprised there's fish in there. Gotta Fish around and find out ;)

Nice fish

Best comment on the comment section!🤣

Hey man, where at? I just moved in the area less than 2mos ago and I can’t get a bass just skipjack on the main river

Are White Bass the same as Striped Bass? I ask because around here people call them Striped Bass, but I like the name White Bass better!
Whats the difference between a white bass, yellow bass, and striper bass?
they are similar in the same family but have different sizes and body shapes
Where's it still fishing is good
Great video and great fishing!! Thank you for sharing!! One of my favorite fishing people!! Have a good evening and week!
I just getting into fresh water 💧 fishing from salt water up here in New England! I will definitely Ck out rooster tails yellow and gold! Thanks!😎🇺🇸☘️👻
One of my secret weapon lures is a Mepps Agila #5 spinner like this. Slays largemouth, smallmouth (sometimes) and big northern pike.
How u like those rods?
Yellow bass are a lot of fun. Especially where I'm at and you find them over a pound. They are so aggressive.

Fishing pliers. 🙂
Been fishing a white rooster tail at all my ponds and Im up over 90 fish caught since the beginning of March here in Austin Texas...it never misses!
Love you videos so blessed to have such good creeks to fish. I'm in jersey need to find me some spots like this. Keep up the amazing work.

Panther martian

The fish 🤔
Good deal. Nice to find a honey hole on the bank when you ain't really trying. Pretty little creek. Fish on and Go Dawgs
Those Mepps Comet Minnows are pretty leathal too Ive caught more fish on those than rooster tails
If you see any barrels don't open them. We just feeding fish.
I didn’t even know yellow bass was a species. I don’t know if we have those here in Ohio.
That was amazing! The bass eating your smaller catch.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. That lm wasn't going to be denied....
Love that creek bottom, not a lot of structure but don't have to worry about breaking your ankle trudging around in the water.
What size/kind of line you using?
Like he said @13:00, 15lb braid.
I see you went back to the spinning reel. I'm just saying.
My friend keeps repeating "black rooster tail", lol.
I’ve been waiting for a good old Dayton fishing video these creeks are loaded
1st lure to catch a fish for me... red roster tail. The rooster tail is fairly universal.
Dude, you should go back rigged with a rig to fish live bait.
I have some roostertails. I will try them next time. Were you rigging the swim bait weedless like a texas rig?
yes on a 1/16 oz offset jighead
