Wish all outdoors people treated nature like Nick! Truly a good guy out there for the right reasons.
As someone with pet snakes, what you did is rare even for an outdoorsman. Good on ya! And with these rains we got today, you should have some good vids coming up if it was the same a little further up north!
You would be amazed how many outdoorsmen save snakes and we don't kill them. All animals have their place on this earth love them or hate them.
I know some of us do but many others subscribe to the "only good snake is a dead snake" thing. And for the population in general, that is the default thinking. They will go out of their way to kill them.
Agreed. I love snakes.
Snake owner myself…. I have always ben an advocate for snakes…. I try to educate people to not kill them…..
Tangly nasty is what a guy i hiked w called most 🐍. I feel the same but were both alway careful to make sure we just wemt around them. Usually when ya walk up on em they're hunting
The amount or care you have for the creatures you catch, and in this case find on the bank, always brings happiness to me. You respect nature, and it's so refreshing to see. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
He literally catches fish and cuts them up in pieces..... that's respect for nature ?
Strange
@@440-fishermandrock8 If you watched enough of his videos to see him do that, you know that he targets invasive or fast breeding bait fish. He is not being malicious, he just uses the resources that are at hand. You can still take harvest from nature and still respect it.
BUDDY, lots of good stuff in this video. Catching fish, saving a snake, and then bringing the net out so no more animals get caught in it. All this and more is why I’ve been a fan of 618 Fishing, thanks again for sharing the awesomeness. 🎣🐟🎥💯👍
Good on you for saving that snake.... even if it might have been a cottonmouth. Its their world too and they have a right to exist. Also good on you for picking up trash and removing it from potentially hurting other animals. I would definitely like to see another go at both the spill way and maybe even a kayak trip on the main lake? Not sure how easy that would be but it sure looked nice. I always enjoy the adventures to spillways and the creeks that they feed. Another interesting video!
That spillway is a good find, the sheer number of bait fish in there is a amazing. Would love to see you back there and maybe take a wander down the creek and see what you can find. Fantastic video as always! Kia Ora from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Yeah. Your micro fishing vids have always been my favorite. Keep up the good work 👏

Always love to see anglers helping animals in distress. Even when its a snake! Great job Nick. Your video production is top notch!
Definitely not a water moccasin/cottonmouth. Just a water snake and a small one at that. They can be evil tempered though and give you a pretty good bite. Glad you could help it out. Keep up the good work.
I've found water snakes and rat snakes to be very pugnacious. My neighbors call me to remove the latter, they are afraid of them. They bite, but haven't much force (though lots of bacteria, I'm told.)
It was great that the snake was OK, and you took the time to do the right thing . I'm sure you will be blessed.
We’ve had a historic lack of rain in Dallas. 67 days without rain so far. That’s the second longest streak on record. Im jealous of your rain.
What a brilliant film ! Full of interesting fish and a rescue snake section ! Thanks so much for sharing nick !
editing is top notch! legit on a whole different level than anything else on RUclips! thanks bro
Your fishing adventure's are so entertaining to watch Nick. Again I just wish they lasted longer I'd watch every second.
Thank You! That was a water snake. They will bite but harmless. RESPECT for doing that.
I do believe you are correct about the snake, from the little I could see of him I think he was a common water snake. The cotton mouth is a bit more chunky and very aggressive. You are a good man for saving the snake and cleaning up the netting.
Cottonmouths are actually not aggressive at all, it’s a myth. They will defend themselves but they will never chase after someone.
This episode reminded me to old school "Microfishing". Thanks for the content Nick!! :)
As a reptile enthusiast I really appreciate you at least being able to free one of them snakes.
The part with the snake brought back a memory of exact same encounter I had while fishing in a lake near home. I had been fishing a while when I noticed as commotion in the water several yards to my right. Upon investigation I realized it was a water snake tangled IRONICALLY in the same type of mesh that you showed in the video. I believe it is used to keep the branches of shrubs together whir moving them. Unfortunately, it acts like a GILL NET to a snake, as their scales prevent them from backing out. I had to CUT it off to free him.
Nick,I not only like to watch your adventures but also like to read the comments. Your viewers leave some of the most constantly positive posts.it flows your peaceful nature. Thanks and tight lines everyone
So much joy catching fish. Me too Nick, it's just the best thing!
I think this is the first time I have seen you fish in a lake, excluding the pond of giants. I like lake fishing and would like to see more.
Well done for rescuing the snake dude, so many people wouldn't have bothered..KUDOS!
Great job saving that snake! I am sure he was appreciative and that lunge at you was just an attempt to give you a fist bump - snake style!!!!
Awesome video...always excellent!!
Mike 🇨🇦 🍁 👍
Love the vids and great job on helping the stuck snake!
Great job, Nick! I love how you saved that poor snake. Being somewhat of a reptile/invertebrate guy myself (I keep snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, crabs, shrimp and a bearded dragon as pets), I can definitely say that you did well. It's always good to treat any unknown species as if they are venomous. Nice to know too that at least some people over there in the US don't kill each and every snake they see. They are such misunderstood creatures.
lots of respect for what you did man great job.
Nice to see you fising at the lake and you should go back there 👍
Thank you for the care you show the environment. Nice work!
Just found your channel! We started fishing as a family a couple of years ago and we appreciate your videos and it's so great to show our kids (8 and 10) your enthusiasm for fishing! We were camping in Nauvoo, IL a few months ago and fished Horton Lake, sooo many water snakes! I generally steer away from them but the kids seem unfazed. Caught a bunch of bluegills with hot dogs and a lady caught a 5 pound bass, it was great. BUT for the snakes!!😖 Keep up the great work with the videos!
HEY THAT'S WASHINGTON COUNTY!! I LOVE THAT LAKE!! Has some great catfishing there. If you go to the edge by the tree and throw it towards the creek ahead of you, you will probably get something. Good luck!
Seems likely it was some variety of banded water snake. Great job rescuing it! Another great video.
Great video Nick! I don't mind seeing all the Sunfish (Bluegill & Crappie) you caught. Course don't mind seeing the other large catches you get, like Bass, Gar & Catfish.
Was REALLY sweet seeing you fish by off that wood pier in the lake. Was a nice change. Too bad fishing there didn't work.
About the Snake Nick. I've owned decent number of snakes. I THINK they may be a "Corn Snake". Colors look about right. Not venomous, fairly common and known to be ill tempered.
Not sure you ever stopped by our fishing channel, but in one of our older videos I put up a video of my mildly venomous Snake biting me and putting me into the hospital. Nearly took my hand, then arm then nearly my life. All on video. Feel free to check it out if you've the time.
Outside of that glad you had a sweet fishing trip, in California fishing just started picking up maybe 2 months ago. Our last trip... Striper hunting.
Heh Tight lines Nick!
Ken & Lea
Oh wow glad you’re alright! Thanks for watching!
@@618Fishing Yeah I'm fine... was a CLOSE call. Even the hospital had to call the CDC to figure out what to do. They had little experience with venomous snake bites.
So still enough left in me to SET HOOK on my next fishing trip. FISH ON Nick!
Noticed the snake didn't get a "See you later buddy".... Rock on Nick
Thanks for taking me fishing again, loved every minute of it.
Way to save that danger noodle Nick, thank you for sharing!
Definitely go back. Cool spot. Glad you were able to save that snake.
I really salute you my brother 👍 really care about wild animals even though they are very venomous animals
Nick, I hope you know what a great human you are. Thank you for sharing
Thursdays are always better because of your videos, Nick.
Ty for the video, a most excellent spot for fishing. Rain or shine we can always count on Nick to put out a good video.
It's been so dry. I get a happy feeling seeing the rain.
the "Snake" was LUCKY it was YOU i would not messed w him! good fishing friend hit this spot again
This is one of my favorite places to fish I’ve fished here and cought some good catfish! Best fishing channel this guys great!
Nice video Nick but I'll have to say the highlight for me was the outtake at the very end! That lil shriek had me. Another part of your videos that keep me until the very end. your blooper outtakes! Good stuff bro.
Northern Water Snake and not a Cottonmouth. Good on you for saving it! Cheers to you sir
Another great video Nick, keep on fishing brother!
U r a stand up dude for that snake rescue. Also I must say that your skills are next level, fishing, filming, editing and all around master of your domain. Keep up the good work. Respect.
Oh! Also! That dock and surrounding bush has a good amount of shad around it typically if you throw net. I caught a massive one there in the past 😂
It's always been my experience that when there are ton of small fish swimming all around there aren't too many big ones that would be feeding on them and keeping their numbers down. Ppl. take all the big predators and then the small seem to take over.
Making the herpetology community proud man. It's rare to see a fisherman who doesn't think all snakes are the spawn of Satan.👍
This is probably the best video I've ever seen kudos to you brother keep fishing wish I could fish with you
That spillway looked good with that rain!! Wish I was there!!!! 😀
I enjoy the slow mo shots of rods and water running. Good stuff as always. Nice save on the snake.
Thanks again for sharing another great fishing journey taking place on Nickday!
Always love watching 618 fishing... And a good fishermen keep up man
Bro thank you for cleaning up the environment and whoever left that net needs to stop being horrible to the environment and animals and thank you very much for cleaning up the area every time you go somewhere that's why I like you as a RUclipsr I've watched all your videos every single day they drop this video just dropped 33 minutes ago and I'm over here watching it
Thanks for the heart
Could have been an accident looked like a cast net might have got hung on the bottom
Love your videos. Really impressive to see you rescue that snake. It was a northern water snake. A non-venomous species.
I would love to see how you keep finding all these spillway. Like, that could be a whole video is how you hunt for them and how they look on Google earth or whatever tool you're using
Every lake has them. Whether you can fish there or not is the question. I'd suggest finding one and then googling "lake name spillway fishing" or something like that to see if there are any posts online about fishing there.
this is the best fishing content on youtube I also caught a four pound bass a few days ago
Another great one sir. Thank you for all the fun and excitement. Thank you for many awesome future fishing adventures for my daughter and I, things are moving along well. You are definitely One of the most kind people I know of, and you obviously have great respect and care for nature. Bummer about your phone.
Nick, that was a Northern watersnake, Nerodia sipedon, just like you said. Awesome job.
You made me laugh when the snake jumped at you and that sound you made, was too funny :D Enjoy your fishing adventures. Fish on...
Looking like fun brother be safe out there and thank you for sharing your adventures with us
The way the video started was pretty good. I've had some fine days catching bluegill after bluegill
Great job releasing the snake. I’m sure it wasn’t what you expected to do that day. But I’m so glad you did it.
Definitely would like to see more from that spillway, even if it’s just ultralight fishing. Love your videos
9:50 lol, rough day . . . great work with the snake, well done that man
That's cool that you also helped , not only fish 🐟 ,but snake's as well , not everybody would do that !!!!!!! Cool !!!!!!!!!!
I love the funny baits you use. Koolaid soaked pork is my favorite.
Great video, yes, please go back to the spillway. There has to be big fish in there.
You should come up to southern wi. Rock county n go on the rock river. Great catfish fishing and other decent sized fish!
Getting totally soaked while fishing means you'll be alone on the water. Sometimes, rain is the best time for peace and quiet fishing. =)
Amazing!!! 👍👏👏 Thank you for sharing 🐟
Thank you and well done helping that snake live another day!
Awesome job freeing that snake! And your search before you googled the snake! 😂😂. Love your videos!
Yes I think you should go back there, awesome video Nick 👍
You're a true legend mate well done on the fish and saving that snake 👍🏼
That new spot looks like a nice trout stream. On a sidenote, that scream at the end was hilarious! Guess it's a normal reaction when you accidentally toss a snake towards yourself.
Northern Water snake, Nerodia sipedon, they are harmless. Thank you for making the effort to release him.
great stuff Nick thanks
Yes that was a water snake. Harmless. Thank you for not killing it.
Love your RUclips channel
Blessings
Ohhhhh
And love your music
What a beautiful life
Found your old cast net. Filled with snakes. Lol. Worst day fishing beats the best day working
Good on you for saving that snake even though you weren't sure it was venomous. That was a very kind act. I believe it was an Eastern water snake, non venomous. But all the same. That was really cool.
Looked like a common water snake. Good job saving him!
Not many ppl will take the time to save a snake.. respect brother👌
Good job Nick...
Great job saving that snake! 🙏🏼
Great video baby! I won't tell Renna you snatched her corn dogs!! 😂😂😘😘
😂😂 I Appreciate it baby thank you 😂
Yeah on a better day do some adventure down stream of that spill way and see if you can catch a monster down stream.? Another great video
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.
I think the fish you caught with the crank bait in the beginning of the video was a mooneye . Really cool looking snake
Keep doing what you do i like your style of fishing a great adventure fishing.
had many trips like this one. Still a lot of FUN
Heck yeah!! Fish on!
Catch these spillway monsters in my dreams. Thanks for saving the snake! You bomb edits convinced me to buy a go pro for one of my fishing trips, let me know what you think of the only video on my channel
"The other snake is currently dead.."
What? To be revived later?
😆
Good fishing and great jokes.😁👍
Great video nick love these adventures! Have a great weekend buddy!
