This song makes me think of the patients I work with as a palliative/end of life care social worker. I think of not only the patients who are adults who are now non-verbal, have memory loss or other end-of-life complications but also parents who have lost their children too. I've worked with both demographics and I've seen it first hand, what the loneliness of waiting. I think of my first patient most prominently, the 95-year old man in assisted living who was married for more than 75 years before his wife passed away two years before and his son passed some years before--no friends left or relatives for company--just waiting, willing and ready, but still here. The lyrics speak of someone reflecting on their life, waiting for something (perhaps salvation or peace), and feeling as though they’re waiting in solitude. Many fans have speculated that the song touches on Cornell's own personal struggles, such as his inner demons, thoughts about the afterlife, and longing for meaning in the face of death. While Cornell never explicitly said the song was autobiographical, the themes of existential longing and searching for redemption resonate with his later personal challenges. The song took on even deeper meaning for many listeners, as it now seems to reflect his introspective journey toward understanding life and death. Especially after he left us. Man, I miss this dude. I am just happy he left us with so much music but saddened for what could have been.

On a cobweb afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good, we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone
On my deathbed I will pray
To the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone
Who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised
The wine was bled
And there you led me on
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone
Alone
And on I read
Until the day was gone
And I sat in regret
Of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed
And all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death
I will wander on
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone
God bless you.

27/05/2024 🤘🏻
Tom Morello proving without a shadow of a doubt that you don't need some technically complex, multi-scale, virtuoso 5 minute guitar exhibition to make an absolutely iconic solo! Well done good sir for reminding us that creativity and feeling are just as important 👏🏼🤘🏼😎
The guitar solo at the end is the best of all time.
This song is still on my mind years hence. The lyrics are amazing and I miss this guy so much. So much love to the ones he left behind. So much love to Chris Cornell and wherever he is right now. Love you dude
@Wolf Riku chris cornell the lead singer is already dead by commited suicide.
@Wolf Riku Chris Cornell committed suicide
Professor e sempre será
You don't get any better than this... Thank you Chris Cornell for a fantastic song, performance and especially the for memories that have become attached to me due to this immortal song. Peace.
September 2023...! This Song is all....... 👍😌vibring my soul and memory.
RATM and Soundgarden fan since I was 12 in 1992.
Rage musicians and Chris... Audioslave was a master class.
The brightest stars burn too soon. RiP CC!
@@martinl5766 are you seriously saying CHRIS CORNELL couldn't reach high notes? Lmao, please tell me this is a joke... if it isn't, go listen to early Soundgarden songs then come back and try to say the same thing. I recommend 'Beyond The Wheel'.
@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid
in live shows he struggles so much that his face turns red
To @@martinl5766: Take it easy there, Simon Cowell. How many albums did you sell? How many music awards did you win? My guess is none, so don’t judge until you’ve done the work.
•
Another thing: Did it occur to you that he and the band were on tour that long ago, and that he was changing up how he delivered the song in order to conserve his voice? It’s what I’d do - what anyone else would have done - were I and many others had Chris Cornell’s talent.

Seek forgiveness for your lack of empathy and go find some.
The longer they’ve been gone the better they get. Generational vocals fronting sone of the most innovative music talent of the 90/00s. RIP Chris and thanks for all the help you gave me figuring out how to be a 90s teenager.
Keep this song alive in our hearts and the ones we lost.
Que SOLO DE QUITARRA É ESSE ? GÊNIO ! E GÊNIOS TODOS REUNIDOS ! A MÁGICA FICOU PRONTA ! ESPETACULAR !
He sang this perfectly
Everytime I hear this song, I think of my bestfriend that suddenly past away 5 years ago. RIP Chris.
One of the best singers of any genre hands down the man Could belt it out.. Miss ya Chris Cornell!
You will forever be missed Chris. A voice that can't be reproduced or imitated.
So powerful when someone you never met touches your heart in a way they will never know 💖🎶
I miss Chris so much,he has opened up a pathway in My heart. And I have sang his song like a stone. He has given thousands of people HOPE from his honorable music. GOD BLESS YOU
One of the best songs he ever wrote. Your a fucking lyrical genius . Love and pain in your heart and still what took him was sadness . I love this song and always will . The only rocker with a 4 octave range in his voice. RIP CHRIS CORNELL. I HOPE THAT YOU FOUND SOME HAPPINESS IN THE AFTERLIFE. SEE YOU SOMEDAY SOON
Not only him having 4 octaves, also Layne Staley, and I think both have great voices, all big 4 of grunge had amazing vocalists.
This song always makes me teary-eyed. No. 1 on my karaoke list.
Like a stone e Be yourself, sem palavras.
🎵👏👏👏👏💜
Para mim, Be Yourself é a melhor deles
I remember hearing this song first time like in 2002 ,I felt in love with this song right away. I can still identify with this amazing song. I was able to play the solo with a Digitech pedal. Just reminds me good times of my life. RIP Chris
Ele arrasou
3 years to the day. Shame that it had to happen.
Being a high schooler and a metalhead, I can say there has been too much tragedy and loss amongst those that paved the road in which I keep connected through.
Randy, Dime, Cliff, Bon, Layne, Kurt, and but not only Chris C
Alguien...?? Hoy 04/10/2021

@Deborah Milena Hola como estas? Me saludas de Brasil?
sim sim
In tears right now, as I’m watching this video while my 6 year old and 1 year old watch with me and sing along. They absolutely love this song and it fills me with so much pride and joy. This band was one of my late husband’s favorites 💔♥️
He was just so incomprehensibly amazing. Legend.
What a great singer, what a great song. Amazing when you can "feel" a song
Yesss
You may have left us early Chris, but your music and legacy will live on forever! Thank you for all the great music you left us. RIP Chris Cornell..
Verdade ❤
O solo dessa música é lindo
wow..sure is a lot of negative comments. I havent listened to long prob about 2 years or so i forget. Listening to him and his band which are all really great people they got me through one of the most difficult times of my life. Yes pretty much when your soul dies but your still living. Thank you guys!!! If he isnt himself here it maybe because he is to going through something of his own. Prob from his wife..smh..it may be that he too has come close to the broken soul amd realizes that at this moment this song may come to truth. Who knows though..Anyway..Just totaly awesome guys. We all cant be rockstars everyday of our life and be happy shining people. Now can we???
I miss him,r.I.p my man love your music❤
Love from Morocco to the amazing combination between Rage against the machin and Grunge voice Chris Cornnel they made an iconic songs ever
#RipChrisCornnel
I'm only discovering this voice now after he's gone, when I heard it a million times, but didn't listen until he left us 💔
Most amazing voice in rock history.
That would be Freddy Mercury but Cornell gets a nod
No disrespect to Freddy but I personally like Chris more
Layne Staley, Steve Perry, Sebastian Bach and quite a few more should also be considered
O Timbre de voz dele, inconfundível!
You died to soon 😭😭😭
Clássico jamais será esquecido alguém ouvindo aí esse hino
Casey from Georgia still bumping this at least once a week. Sometimes tears roll down for my check headed home after work. I can feel the song.
We can see that he sang this song full of sadness… everytime
Who’s still here in 2024
eu aqui! do Brazil
I'll always be here...🖤
Alone
What’s up!!
Estamos, 2024. Brasil.
Manca tantissimo. Ho pianto tanto.
Riposa in pace❤
All of those who attended this concert are extremely blessed 😭💘💔🙏
