Dang.....well I should have known, someone must have filmed this and posted it. Never bothered to look.....not a bad video considering the circumstances.
haha...I know Russ through Jeff Martin, and I was there with Chris Arvin (who replaced Paul Gilbert briefly in Racer X). The best part of the night that was the power Phil had to turn Fanthers into hardcore metal heads.
@@zublacus I remember when Phil said "If we're gonna do this I wanna see the old school circle pit" I put my fist up in the air...then I looked over to stage left...and the security guys were in a PANIC!!! Good times I had fun up there playing with TheRev. I walked over to him and I just looked at him and he said "You know this right?" And I was like "Yup no problem", and he was like "Alright lets you and me lock in" and I was like "cool".
I was soo there that night! Jerry Cantrell came from the side balcony and did man in the box. That guy still looks great, for being like 42 or so.then I remember Metalskool coverin 'Walk'.My bros were waiting outside of the Keyclub cuz it was PACKED!As soon as Phil joins the stage and mentions 'lets see an oldschool circle pit going!' my bros burst in and we STORM to the pit! haha slamming with the rest of the heads. After thatMetalSkool cover'Rock you like a Hurricane'and end with'Paradise City'.
Great capture of video man. Good to see Phil out and about. If that was the guitarist from Fight, it wouldve been awesome since they are quite similiar... PanterA \m/
Jerry was there that night, but he's not in this song. Just Phil, The Rev, some guy on bass from the audience and Russ on Guitar. The Jerry video is on here...I uploaded it the same. It's Man In A Box.
If you read my original post. I recorded this with a small Canon digital camera. I didn't go there planning to record "The Song Remains The Same, Part II" It was very loud, the small microphone got blown out.
Good or bad, there is absolutely no disrespect there. Just attempting to do a cover is the highest level of respect you can pay to a great band or musician.
Apparently reading is a difficult chore for you. If you read the INFO, I was at the show when they came up, impromptu to jam. All I had was a small digital camera....the volume overwhelmed the tiny microphone. Obviously, if I had known he was coming, I would have brought an HD Camera with 5.1 Audio with Dolby THX just for you. Trust me...Rev was playing drums.
If you read the previous commment or knew anything about Metal Skool. The band that played that was just people from the crowd (except Russ). Russ is former student of Paul Gilbert, a graduate/teacher at MIT(formerly GIT) in LA, formerly "Eddie" in the www.theatomicpunks.com and the lead guitarist in FIGHT, with Rob Halford and Scott Travis. He normally plays Van Halen and 80's metal and smokes most guitar players. He doesn't normally play Pantera...and Phil was drunk. It was for fun.
Cool. Thanks for commmenting. That's Russ Parrish. Russ doesn't really play that stuff, even though he was in FIGHT with Rob Halford. Phil told Russ after the show, that he had a great time, and he was sorry he(Phil) messed it up, because he was drunk. Russ was just glad he didn't notice his screw ups. Phil is definitely a charismatic guy. That turned out to be a funny moment when you did do the scale run, and Russ said "we don't need a solo".
Because I'm the Racer X webmaster, and the video was originally hosted there. Russ was Jeff Martin's best man at his wedding and Russ took lessons from Paul. So that's the Racer X connection.
That was Russ from Fight. If you check my videos..I have some other ones of him in his cover band, Metal Skool. Russ was also the guitarist for The Atomic Punks for years.
Reading...it's a BEAUTIFUL thing. If you read the description or read any of the comments, you would have read that it was just a small digital camera. Rather I didn't record anything?
No worries. Just wanted to explain..this wasn't a "band" playing. The band is Metal Skool (You can search You Tube or Google for them). But the singer, bass player and drummer...all sat out for Phil, Rev and the guy from the audience. I think Phil was a little whooched too.
Not trying to stir the pot....but actually, you made a spelling error. "Speach". What I find funny about the Pantera vs. AX7 crowd, is that people are missing the point that Phil was there at the club WITH Rev...so they are most likely friends.
Disrespect? Please. This was a off the cuff jam...none of these guys play together regularly. Heck, the bass player came from the audience. Russ Parrish is certainly qualified on guitar. GIT Grad, Paul Gilbert student and guitar player for FIGHT with Halford. I think he can hold his own.

@@zublacus Sure I'd be down for a trip down memory lane.
Wow I miss him so much ❤

It's not the Rev's set. This was a Metal Skool show. That's Darren's kit, Rev just got out of the croud with Phil to play the one song.
Here from Johnny’s video!

If you watch the beginning, it says March 27, 2006.
So imagine. It was around 2 years after.

@megabassist
Yeah right...thats what Dimebag would have wanted....never playing the most awesome metal-song ever, ever again.
the guy from the crowd that got to play bass had a once in a lifetime experience. lucky sob.

I can confirm that was Jim "TheRev" on the kit....good thing too, without him that would have been a disaster.
Well...he was near the drummer. He was actually with The Rev that night...they were together.
Dude.....wtf......when did that happen? Is there a video with better quality on the tube???
is there a better quality video out there?

Phil was sooooooo wasted

Nice start with Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)!
Glad someone caught it

sweeeeeeeet!!
In what band?

when was this? i cant imagine phil playing pantera after dimebags death!!!
Oh lord he was sooooooo hammered I don't think he was thinking about that at that moment....he couldn't even remember the lyrics to the second verse.
man they should have let him go with the bass solo, that was a tribute to the late great Cliff Burton!
Yes it was....nice to know someone caught that

Pretty sure that's Rex Brown on bass
Just go to Wikipedia and look up Metal Skool. It will explain everything.

A little more than " a little"....he was on his 11th beer from what I could see.
hehe nice to anselmo again
lol...i went to skool with a7x...theyre pretty cool guys in real life...but metal skool is awesome!
Whats with the RacerXband thing? Racer X doesnt even sound like Pantera haha
Metal Skool Rocks!

No he wasn't. They had separate tables

fix the sound or romove!
Douche is pronounced with an "sh" sound at the end, guche is pronounced with a "ch" sound at the end? therefore they dont rhyme? u spa
Heh, anaesthesia (pulling teeth).
Well I tried.....Lexx came over and stopped me
C
Dude? Is that really Joey Demaio on bass from Manowar? If so Fucking hail & kil
They need to learn how to play the song before they have a legend like Phil Anselmo come up and join.
This was an on spot jam session. None of these guys had played together before so it would be expected that they aren't in time..
lol best comment ever
Can't change how it was recorded. I suggest don't watch it.
the quality is the only thing that sucks
and that is alot of the video..
so most of it sucks haha
to bad The Rev died
yup....party hardy....die early. Very sad.
Game over tbar20. I deleted his posts, since they added zero value.
Lol who doesnt know how to play walk
LOL...so what do you really think? You obviously have no clue what Metal Skool is.
I respect The Rev but i cant stand Avenged Sevenfold JS!!!
Fuck you
