The reason why The four Horseman is slower, its because of lars. Lars cant handle fast phase like that back then. When Dave is playing The Mechanix when he's still in Metallica, Lars said "you know we should slow it down', and Dave was like," seriously? Arent we supposed to be fast, and Rude? '
You should look at concerts from 1986 if you think it was because of Lars

MegadetH were so tight in this lineup, the two mainstays (well almost in Eleffson's case) the two Dave's, Al Pitrelli just awesome on lead guitar and Jimmy De Grasso an absolute beast on 'Batteria' as the Spanish like to call drums !!!

The Interesting unique thing about Jump In The Fire , Mechanix , and Four Horsemen is Dave has the Music Composition Rights to ALL Three songs even tho he never played on the Kill Em All Album . He only wrote the Original Lyrics for Mechanix and Jump In The Fire because they were his songs in his previous band before Metallica . James and Lars Re-Wrote Lyrics for Jump In The Fire and their Mechanix Rip off Four Horsemen song . So basically if Dave had wanted to really stick it to Metallica he could have used the Original Versions of Jump In The Fire and Mechanix on his Killing is My Business Album by Megadeth and not been sued what so ever . The Four Horseman at this Tempo and Drumming style would be an inprovement really .

Same with Al, Marty didn't show up for a gig one night and Al was there as his replacement, after only having 2 days to learn all the songs, and Dave just said to him put your boots on Al you're up". The 2 guys were extremely sought after session musicians even though they'd both played in big bands before but they were really thrown in at the deep end considering they'd barely any practice.
@@CliffB70 This is a reason i don't like Mustaine much . He double talks on both Al Pitrelli and Jimmy Degrasso . He has said Jimmy wasn't happy ever playing in Megadeth , and didn't play the drum parts correctly . Which is nonsense he is always smiling in so many shows , and plays the drum parts as good as Nick Menza did . Then he has said if Al and Marty had both auditioned that same day he would have picked Al ! as he liked his style better . Than later said Al was an ok "temporary" replacement but certainly NO Marty . It makes sense how every .. member in this lineup left the band at the same time . And how Mustaine has gone threw 3 lead players after Al Pitrelli left . Nobody can stand the guy

Yet Metallica's "masterpiece" didn't come until long after Dave was gone. Until the album that had zero of Dave's riffs on it. Weird. Metallica didn't really take off until Dave was completely out of the picture. It took Dave almost a decade to achieve anything of note after being booted. Again, weird. 🤔
What i do love more of this song in comparission with Horsemen is that intro, omg is so Boss, BUT; The rest of the song even tough good had nothing over Horsemen.

Megadeth plays the same song just faster, as opposed to Metallica they play it slower. They're both good versions of it.
It plays very differently in more ways than just tempo. The hands playing the song can change it drastically. James doing the rhythm alone made it crushing. Four horsemen has way more power and chunk behind it. Speeding things up actually makes them less powerful from a sonic perspective.
