That will not work on the 2006 nor the 2007 bc there's a large black resonate box attached to the intake, so you either have to remove that box somehow or remove the intake...
OMG Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for not spending an hour to explain a 2 hour job !!! Just the basics, I love it. If you can not understand this you should be performing this task.
FANTASTIC! The intake manifold tip is nice to know. I'm under a warranty (just bough the car used) so I don't have to do this one but it's good to know if I start getting mysterious "Lean Codes" after the shop gets done with it.
Excellent, detailed work. I found another video that was similar to yours, but he didn't provide the details about (1) Making sure the flat metal piece inside the rubber boot of the solenoid signal connector slides onto the thin metal tab of the connector on the starter body, (2) noting that the knock sensor must be oriented a specific way to slide on, and (3) cleaning the surface where the gasket sits. I especailly appreciate all of the close-ups of the connectors. Did you use brake cleaner spray to clean the surfaces of the engine block and manifold? I'm guessing it's better to spray it onto a towel to avoid having it spray onto areas you don't want it to get to (like inside the large "exhaust ports" of the engine). *** How has this video only gotten eight comments????? ***
Thanks @hikgerguy1234 ! I don't remember exactly what I used to clean the surfaces, but brake cleaner (or something like it) would have been a good choice. Glad the video was helpful.
@@PracticalMechanic It was definitely helpful. I completed replacing the starter in my 2004 Honda Accord LX thanks to your videos. Saved big bucks!! Thanks again!.
Bummer! Sometimes air impact wrenches do not have the required torque. I'm those cases you need something with more that 1000 ft-lbs of break-away torque! I use this: amzn.to/3UE4TzZ Make sure you have enough room to fit it. Also, take care not to break the bolt. Good luck!
Alright I’m dumb. It’s all assembled. The starter spins fine but it sounds like it’s not catching the flywheel. I triple confirmed it’s the right starter for the model. Any ideas?
@@PracticalMechanic Thanks so much for getting back to me! It was user error. I thought the 17mm was tight enough but it was just stuck in a thread so the starter wasn’t connecting to the flywheel. It’s running now! FYI if anyone is doing a 2007, there’s a black metal box not shown in this video. I was able to get the 17mm bolt unscrewed at 204,000 miles with some penetrating spray, a 3/8ths driver with a 2” extension, and a 1” x 18” steel bar for leverage. Approach from the right side of the hood stand. It’s a bear but it can be done.
@@r.l.strange1897nope. They're right. With the 07 there is an upper manifold that the older models dont have.. you have to take the entire manifold out to get to the starter
Not to be difficult, but I just did it on an 07. It was a bear to get around but I was able to with a 3/8 ratchet and a short extension. And a lot of swearing.
Here is a link to the starter I installed in this video - Honda Starter - amzn.to/3UPmxjN

Man this is one of the best videos I have seen regarding the starter. You explained everything perfect for a beginner.
Thanks a lot, much appreciated 👍

Saved me so much time on a long work night, thank you. I had a socket set and was done in an hour and a half. That 17mm bolt kicked my ass for a while
Yeah, 😂 nice, way to go
Excellent video. Clear. Concise. Easy to follow. Like x 1,000.
Much appreciated! 👍
Fantastic video! Simple, straightforward, and very informative. Thank you, @PracticalMechanic!
Thanks, really appreciate it

Oh nice!
Great video! your explanation is to the point and methodical thank you!
You're welcome!
Brilliant video mate! Helpful and concise. Appreciate your efforts.
Thank you, much appreciated!
Thanks You save my day. This way is easy to do it.
Terrific, glad to hear it! Rock on 👍

Thank god for this video man. I seen other taking apart 90% more shit hahaha
Glad it helped! Hopefully this is a quicker method.
❤great job fast easy way,😮
Change the gasket
Very helpful 👍🔥
Awesome, glad to hear it! All the best!
Thanks! Is this applicable for 2004 accord 3.0 V6 EX?
Unfortunately, no. the v6 version is a bit different.
Great stuff
Thanks for the feedback!
Question sir I can’t took the bolt #17 out even I used the Air gun still not loosing can you tell me how can I do next. Thanks

How to do it?
So no need to take throttle body off?
Nope
Just the intake manifold

Sounds like the solenoid is not activating, might be faulty or not getting power. Verify all the connections are re-attached. Good luck!

@user-dh3vw2xe6j excellent, glad you got it sorted out! Also, thanks for the tip for those attempting this in the future. All the best 👍
Not this easy with my 2007. No way you getting to the starter without completely removing the manifold
You can, I’ve done it over 1000 times. You just have to have a functioning brain and a set of balls 😂

06-07 has a chamber assembly underneath the intake mani.

This does not apply to 2006-2007. These years have an air box under the intake that is a whole different animal
Sorry, last comment was meant for the video that came up next. My humble apologies. OOPS!
🤣
Nope easier to remove the manifold completely and then take it out. Did mine today
Bullshit!!
Great video. Will this be the same on an Element?
Thanks
You're Welcome! 👍
