- Based on Stephen King's book. This is the scenes where Dolores was upset with the bank manager and said to him "You say you sorry one more time and I'll kick your butt up so high, you'll look like a hunchback!". Don't forget to comment and rate this clip, thanks!
Kathy Bates should be a two time academy award winner because of this movie.
Absolutely. She is amazing.
I think that her performance as Dolores Claiborne was much better than her performance in Misery, which is not to say that she didn’t deserve her award for Misery
It's unbelievable that she didn't win for this...She deserved it for Misery without a doubt, but also for this.
@Jason Ullerich Bates didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for this performance.
@@alexbranson5799 I think this is better than Misery, more realistic.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie, and she was brilliant. She stole every scene she was in. BTW, she says that this was the role she was most proud of. Amazing performance.
It's hard to "steal" a scene in a movie when you're the lead performer.
She was absolutely amazing
Her one liners were great!
She worked so hard for that money. Putting up with Vera's ridiculous demands for years. And he waltzes right in there in takes it. Infuriating. This movie made sure we hated Joe before the final reveal of what a monster he really is.
This was an excellent movie! Highly underrated. It's a masterpiece.
"How'd he get the money without the god damn PASS BOOK?!"
@The Tommyknocker Man, that was a good imitation of Dolores Claiborne played by the actress, Kathy Bates. Here’s my imitation of Dolores Claiborne around 1:43. “You say you’re sorry one more time, and I’ll kick your butt up so high, you’ll look like a hunchback!”
Small town
1:40 this made lol so much, "you say you're sorry one more time and ill kick your butt up so high you'll look like a hunchback!" gets me every time.
Vera Donovan tells Dolores that husbands die everyday and the wives inherit their money. Joe opened a new account but Dolores fakes out Joe and tells him the bank gave her back the money. He gets angry and goes after her, all that leads to him falling in the well. Dolores inherits the money that Joe stole from her.
My favourite is "Morning Ladies! Out for a morning walk?" "Nope, just packing up the speedboat so I can make my big escape!" 😂 I laugh so hard at her sarcasm every time
EVERYONE in the World should be "required" to see this movue at least once. CERTAIN OTHERS ought to be "required" to see it until they GET IT.
Amen. For me the message was...men suck!! Which is and has been true, for too long. Men need to get their shit together and be better human beings.
An aKKKccident.,Deloris...
Some people are predators, no doubt about that.
NoireFox Really? Because the message I got is... sexism hurts, and both men and women should be entitled to the fruits of their individual efforts.
same guy as played the warden on shawshank redemption...
Warden norton
Hes a prick in everything
: Yes ! I knew I saw him before ..
@@ryancooper2901 : He was rotten in that story, too
Hollywood be like: we need a good asshole in this upcoming movie..
Also Hollywood: this guy!
Kathy Bates, is truly my favorite movie star. She's the kind of star that has staying power. She'll always have a place on the big screen or TV. She can make us laugh, cry, amuse us, like no other. She's so versatile. Kathy Bates certainly portrayed Deloris Claiborne very well. Married to a drunk -- obviously, with no self worth and, mad at the world -- and takes out his frustrations on Deloris. My favorite liner was when she told Mr. Mackey to use his pet dime. And the scene where she "TOLD" the banker: I'll kick your butt us so high, you'll look like a hunchback. And, what she said to MR MACKEY: Mr. butt-bah-sha-bu, bah -- french maybe, couldn't understand a word but, it sounded about right. The flashbacks she had were remarkable for sure. Even the daughter cruel to her. But, finally the daughter comes around. Although, most doesn't have killer instinct -- this is what made this movie work -- most defiantly.
She says, mr high grand puhbah of upper butt crack, to Mackey.
i really liked the book, i never read anything like it from King, and Kathy Bates is such a great actor , she did Dolores justice!
NEVER get a joint account of you married!
If you don't trust your spouse, then you're marrying the wrong person.
LA Kings I’m sure the 60 percent of marriage that ends in divorce felt the same way
If you listen to the video clip, the banker said it was a custodial account, not a joint account. A custodial account is an account a parent opens for an minor under the age of 18.
@@tonyd9455
And to which Joe had no legal right to, his name wasn't on the account.
Women couldn’t open up their own account until the 60s. It wouldn’t occur to a woman who grew up under the old system to do so.
Incredibly gifted actress.
So Warden Norton was a bank manager before accepting the posttion at Shawshank. Nice.
I think her biggest mistake was keeping the checkbook in the house. I don’t know where else she could’ve hidden it, but someone like Joe most definitely would’ve found it. Not on purpose, someone like him would’ve stumbled onto it while searching the house high and low for any source of money or liquor once the drinking stash ran dry.
Oh she has so much talent! This is one of the best scenes! She's very pretty to!
This is a very sad scene :( . Thank God when my father left my mother at 43 with a 1 year old ( me ) & a 3 year old & a 6 year old & a 9 year old for his slut . My mother went to the UAW & with the help of her best friend the secretary Janet withdrew 29 thousand & closed the account . This was 1969 . PS Way to go mom !!!
Proud of your mom and you ❤
Your mom is a GOAT 👌🏽
Way to go MOM!
I adored this movie, thank you for let us watch it again, I know is kind of old but I got it in a DVD and enjoy it every time!!
This movie and the color purple should have both won. Best picture.
Kathy Bates is great! ^-^
its so cool seeing my home town on a movie like this .. go digby nova scotia!!!!!
How about uploading the entire film....????
What an actress she is.
fucking brilliant actress
why can't they make movies like this now? instead of all that cgi crap they keep coming up with.
The dumbing down of the masses.
KingsWorld2015 Trick is you have to know where to go. Do a google search in your area for Independent movie theaters. They tend to focus on the art rather than the dollars. I would also recommend doing searches for local film festivals, there not as high profile as Sundance but they can produce some gems.
Just gotta look
And regurgitating old shit
this is a great movie..i have seen it so many times, and always love it..
2 amazing actresses..Jennifer & Kathy.
This particular scene is heartbreaking..
i recommend everyone who has not, to watch this movie at least once.
I'm sorry but I'm afraid he's too "obtuse"
great line right on point poor Mr dufrane
Because you said I'm sorry refer to 1:41 😄😄😄
😂😂😂
I haven't seen this movie in years and was thinking about it the other day when I was watching a movie starring Jennifer Jason Leigh. I must watch it again.
she's my favorite. and she can also be so hilarious (Failure To Launch).
In the book, he meets up with her at a cafe/diner over coffee and admits that Joe opened a new account and leaves it at that. There is nothing she can do to get the money back unless Joe isn’t alive.
That’s why she lies to him and tells him she buried it in the yard. To trick him into falling into the well. She tied a piece of her cloth near the entrance to the well.
The movie is amazing, but the book answers a lot of questions people may have.
If this takes place in the same universe as The Shawshank Redemption (this being a Stephen King story and the fact that Dolores mentions Shawshank prison during the eclipse scene), then the bank manager is a relative of Warden Samuel Norton. IMO.
Funny that the warden is now the banker lol!!
Guess he wasn't being "obtuse."
Wow, I just read this scene from the book yesterday. Its exactly the same.
It's odd to see that the bank manager is the same actor as the warden in The Shawshank Redemption given the fact that Shawshank Prison is also mentioned in this movie. The stories are clearly both in the same universe, like most of Stephen King's work, and though I do understand that the characters are two different people, as King wrote and intended for, casting the same actor for both parts was an interesting choice in my opinion.
Maybe he worked there before he became a warden
The director mentioned in the commentary that it was intentional.
He was also in the movie Drag me to hell" also as bank employee.
The actor is Bob Gunton, who did indeed play the warden in Shawshank Redemption. Kinda funny how Tim Robbins in that film played a banker before going to prison, while here Bob plays a banker.
Explains his money schemes in Shawshank lol.
Stephen wrote a great story and Kathy made a wonderful Delores Claiborne!
He's the Warden from The Shawshank Redemption
And Kathy character mentions that her husband we'll be going to Shawshank prison later in the film.
She is amazing!!! Truly THE BEST!
One of the rare exceptions where the movie is much better than the book.
Lol, I love Kathy Bates in this movie. The character of Dolores is amazing, and Kathy Bates delivers it so well. XD I love one of the early scenes where she calls some guys "piss-squirts". XD
*Sigh* Bob Gunton. He is so handsome in this movie. I am in love with him.
I can't believed this was actually allowed.
Kathy Bates is a genius! I love her! I think she is just as good as Meryl (who I love also)--- maybe even better!!!
Kathy Bates she tells it like it is ,great performance, awsome movie,👍👌
I'm glad she got all that money back except the 500 Joe blew
She didn't. That was something she just told Joe so he could chase her through the field.
No she got the money because Selena went to college
She probably got it because her husband died.
She got it back because it ticked Joe off cause she knew how much he spent already.
I have never been clear on whether Joe opened a new account or whether he buried the money in the yard, Delores later tells Joe that she got all that money given back to her, so I don't know how this was accomplished,
In the book, it was revealed that Joe did open a new account
Hahahahahaha... a hunchback.
What a great book
#StephenKings book & movie of #DoloresClaiborne starring #KathyBates was #AbsolutePerfectionAtItsBest!! ❤🌹💯
Kathy Bates é excelente! Em qualquer papel. Ela é demais.
I never noticed before, but the bank employee was the warden and the Shawshank redemption
I can assure you that what we did was not only legal, but standard bank practice. Or am I being obtuse?
The fight of a mother.. awesome
Thank RBG for fighting for a Woman to Open her own Credit Card!
Great movie
Deserved an Oscar
Anybody else hear a little jaws theme in there?
This was a great movie!
Two great actors
So...when the account was first created, she set it as a joint account? So if that is the case, she trusted Joe back then and continued to trust him? The lesson? NEVER make a joint account with somebody!
If you listen to the video clip, the banker said it was a custodial account, not a joint account. A custodial account is an account a parent opens for an minor under the age of 18.
@@rhianhatway4056 Ahhh ok....how was Joe able to withdraw from it? Just because he had The Pass Book in his hands?
@@keribun6473
No. He told the bank manager he lost the passbook and was issued a new one.
I love this movie
Omg I love her so much.
or if I've gotta start digging holes around my house
best line
Why did Joe even know about the account? Why was it a joint account at all?
Not too long ago women couldn’t even have their own bank accounts. America is fucked up. Look it up.
This movie/book took place in the 1960's. Women couldn't open their own bank accounts until 1974 without their husband's approval.
that was funny
ahhhh loooove herrrrrrrr
She got the money back in cash
Sad, but some states still let spouses have access to a spouses account even if they're not on the account...
Yup, My husband handled our money. Well, the money I worked hard to earn. Turns out he was sunglained the money into secret accounts. And when we got a divorce, he said There was no money left. Let it be a lesson to you ladies and gentlemen!!!
I'm glad her husband fell in the well
So, does she get the money back at the end or is she bluffing when she tells Steve that before he kills her
.
Annie Wilkes and Warden Norton
Sorry, I mean SHE kills him
in fact i've never pay to much attention, but since you ask for it, well, you are right. I think she have something of an older rene zelleweger ( don't know if i right it correctly ) Also, the bank manager remind me of Bela Lugosi. He must be a great actor to play the ass holes, he was such mean in shawshank redemption.
Because of that movie I admire Cathy Bates, because of that movie I can't stand David Strathairn. They both are incredibly believable.
Cathy is well fit
magnifica total cool mega super ultra
I never saw this
Shes 100% right about her being a woman tbh
Many a homemaker went to the bank to withdraw
Joe was so awful glad he got what he deserved
withdrawing ten grand
gregs halloween hundred grand
taxes on bird land
i got a "joint" account. With my marijuana clinic.
That's trust, peace, and harmony!
Amber Nicole damn girl you seem fine if you don't mind me saying so.
+CHICKEN SALAD well. I love chicken salad, so I don't mind at all. Party. :)
her costar in this scene - he is in everything!
Do people still use "pass books"?
Yes. In a lot of small, out of the way savings banks.
Ok, that's interesting, thank you.
No lol
I'm a Millennial and I still use a check book-sorry, pass book to keep track of my money. Yes, I have access to Mobile banking but I still use the check book just to be safe.
@@jbvader721Hi. FYI, a checkbook and passbook are two different things. Checkbooks have a ledger you can write down your checks and transactions in. In the old style "passbook" the bank would actually give you a passbook as a sort of ledger - looked almost like a passport - and they'd enter the information about your deposit and/or balance every time they updated it. (I'm GenX and just old enough to remember the passbooks)
