I wish there could be a prequel to this. I would love to know Annie's backstory. The murders when she was a nurse... Her family...perhaps an ex husband she killed? The character needs her own story.
Season 2 of Castle Rock is basically a prequel to Misery. It features Annie in her younger days as a nurse and the actress who plays her is PHENOMENAL!
Kathy Bates was absolutely brilliant in this movie. She basically was the movie--her antics were hysterically funny even though she was about the most scary and evil villain you could ever ask for.
Oh My God! I used to work at a hospital with a Nurse, who was EXACTLY like Annie Wilkes. She was our head nurse and she was Elvis Presley's Number 1 Fan.
@@randymctavish3728 Sheriff Buster had figured it out, but paid for this with his life. BTW, the late James Caan was not a character actor. He played lead roles.
The movie held back a lot. Also Kathy Bates hated how violent her character is to the point where she cried between takes, even if the film is more toned down than the book.
Incredible acting from Mrs Bates. Misery is one of my all time favorite books. I was skeptical about the movie, but it really does justice to Stephen King's work surely the best movie adaptation of any his books. I can read it twice an year for the rest of my life and will always fascinate and scare me.. One of the few of its genre that really have you thinking, it could really happen to you. A real classic, and movie is a must watch for every King fan.
I saw the movie first and read the book afterwards and I have to say, she is soooo accurate to the description of her in the book. Even the little facial twitches and everything. She truly earned that Oscar. I also think that Mr. Sheldons actor deserved an Oscar too. He was exactly like his counter part, and in some ways, better. Like when he shoved the burnt papers down her throat, he was calm in the book but I prefer the rage in the movie.
I once was making a delivery to a woman's house and we told her we couldn't move a piece of furniture for inusurance reasons. The nice calm demeanor of the woman instantly changed and started to rage out. We were scared and couldn't wait to get out of there.
Dr. Juerdo Titsgo indeed he was so charismatic yet venerable...he also showed the versatile side of his acting throughout his career but this most definitely was his most defining and memorable performance! In my opinion
I'm not sure how she got up so fast after James Caan gave her the 50 pound Klonkatron 5000 right to the top of the head. Annie needed to be in the UFC or something...
Fun fact: King's book, Misery was inspired by a real semi-obsessive fan of King's, and one of her letters got him thinking, "Hmm...what if this person...was just a little bit worse?", and she gave him his next novel idea!
Gotta love how there's a character with the surname Chastain in one of King's works and years later an actress with the same surname plays Bev in It Chapter 2.
I saw this movie when I was like 12 or 13 with my even younger siblings. This lady totally freaked us out. We still call her “The Misery Lady” until today. Her performance really branded itself on our brain.
Sōsuke Aizen so has politics. After all most wars start from politics and I am assuming you are political. So you are just as bad if not worse than religious people.

Kathy Bates was only reason i liked this movie, I loved the book but the movie was quite boring. Kathy was reason I kept watching, it was never boring when she was on.
I tend to agree. Kathy Bates makes this film worth watching. Everyone else is just along for the ride. Although I do think Lauren Bacall gave an added touch to the film.
This movie needs a twisted ending like Annie is some ghost in the house that Paul is sheltering in. Paul has been in a horrific accident so he is still a bit delusional.
