The world needs Iron Maiden with Bruce in it. He’s also a great solo artist. The best of both worlds

I Love Bruce Dickinson! Killer song! That was recorded a few months ago, live in L.A. His nickname was the Air Raid Siren! If only Melisa was doing backing vocals... Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤

She must have had a bad day. Saw this show in Oslo on sunday and she smashed it with the vocals. They even extended the last section and made wonderful harmonies. This was shocking, but must have been a really off day!

That was awesome! And btw, I had the same reaction when I heard the girl at the end, but I didn’t want to spoil the “surprise”… he he he.
Tanya O’Callaghan is a good bassist, but what she did at the end of the song was just horrendous.

The background vocalist was sharp. Dang.
Bruce is still a good vocalist and he does an admirable job on this song. It’s nearly 20 years old and a fun song. He definitely cannot hit the highs as well anymore but has outlasted other metal vocalist by far.

I went to see Bruce Dickinson in May at the Barrowlands, Glasgow and it really was an awesome show. Would seriously recommend you go to one of his shows if you get the chance.

Maybe Phonepole wanted more tits and less talking?! 😂
I definitely think his voice struggles more with the higher range of his voice - mostly just in the sense it's not quite as powerful and sometimes sounds a bit more strained. His voice in the lower-mid side sounds as strong as ever, and I personally find myself enjoying the newer songs when he tends to sit in that range more.
Just my opinion, but what can't be denied is he's magic and just as good a performer as he's always been!

There r a couple of Bruce Dickinson live albums from his solo years - 'Scream for me Brazil'... and 'Alive in Studio A' ... that u can check out.
Truth be told... Bruce Dickinson wouldn't have done much without Iron Maiden. Listen to his albums w/ Samson - 'Head on' (1980) and 'Shock tactics' (1981) ... relatively good records but sounding much like Diamond Head or Angel Witch... Dickinson went by the moniker 'Bruce Bruce' 😂 and looked like a tattered Freddie Mercury circa 1975... His vocals were also not the best - he sounded a bit like Paul Di'Anno (Maiden's vocalist before him) w/ Samson. Dickinson did see Iron Maiden perform w/ Di'Anno on vocals and thought to himself that he wanted to be in that band...
When he joined Iron Maiden in late 1981, Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood told Dickinson not to go by the name 'Bruce Bruce' and insisted a change in stage wardrobe... The transition between lead singer was not a smooth one; Steve Harris (bass) being the band leader tended to butt heads w/ Bruce Dickinson onstage where both alpha-males wanted to be center stage (Bruce Dickinson won that battle 😂)
More importantly, working on and recording Maiden's 1982 album 'The number of the beast'... gave Dickinson the opportunity to work w/ an A-list producer (the late) Martin Birch , who recognized Dickinson's vocals abilities, in the studio... Birch pushed Dickinson hard for better vocal performances and a higher range delivery ... Bruce Dickinson recalled recording the song 'The number of the beast'... over and over again in the studio and becoming so frustrated that he started throwing chairs, complaining of a headache and threatening to quit the band... It was a painful learning process but Dickinson learned a lot about vocal performances from Martin Birch and about songwriting from Steve Harris... He also discovered that guitarist Adrian Smith was his best songwriting partner in the band - they wrote some of Maiden's best songs: '2 minutes to midnight'... 'Flight of icarus' ... 'Moonchild'... etc... And Dickinson also wrote and composed some major Maiden songs like - 'Revelations' ... 'Powerslave' ... 'Flash of the blade'... 'Empire of the clouds'... etc.
After Bruce Dickinson released his first solo album 'Tattooed millionaire' in 1990, he had grown weary of life w/ Iron Maiden... he and Steve Harris were not communicating, and he announced in 1993 that he was leaving the band.
Dickinson released his second album 'Balls to Picasso' in 1994 and assume that Maiden's fanbase was large enough to support his solo career... That didn't happen. The 90's grunge /alternative rock era declared him and Iron Maiden "80's relics". The album failed commercially.
Iron Maiden were not doing much better without Bruce Dickinson on vocals... In 1995, they announced new singer Blaze Bayley and new album 'The X Factor'... the record was darker than most Maiden albums and Bayley's vocals were gruff and did not have Dickinson's range... In concert, Maiden fans did not like Blaze Bayley's performances of the classic Maiden songs... Iron Maiden tried again in 1998 w/ the album 'Virtual XI'... It became the worst-selling Maiden album of their career... The tour was over by the end of '98.
Bruce Dickinson attempted a 'grunge' rock album 'Skunkworks' in 1996 and it failed miserably in terms of sales and critical acclaim... In 1997, he dissolved his solo band and reunited w/ former Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith and longtime collaborator Roy Z (guitar)... They returned in 1997/ '98 w/ two heavy metal albums more geared towards Iron Maiden fans - 'Accident of birth' (1997) and 'The Chemical Wedding' (1998)... Dickinson felt that 'Chemical Wedding' was one of his best albums but it still undersold... He and Adrian toured playing Maiden songs in concert again.
After Iron Maiden were left w/ no choice but to fire singer Blaze Bayley in early 1999, they announced that Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith were both rejoining the band - they would now have 3 guitarists onstage... The impact was immediate:
Fans bought concert tickets in 1999 for their 'Ed Hunter' reunion tour... Their 2000 album 'Brave New World' sold exponentially more copies worldwide than 'Virtual XI'... It was clear that Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson needed each other.
The same thing happened when Rob Halford (vocals) left Judas Priest in 1992 and announced his band Fight, which released 2 albums... but they were done by 1995 as the 90's grunge era eroded their popularity... Rob announced a new industrial rock band in 1996 and they released the album 'Voyeurs' as the band 2wo in 1998... it flopped royally.
Rob returned to Priest's brand of classic heavy metal w/ the band Halford in 2000 and released 2 studio albums and 1 live album w/ limited success.
Judas Priest hired vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens in 1996 and released 2 albums - 'Jugulator' (1997) and 'Demolition' (2001) and neither album sold well commercially... Fans were not willing to accept a vocalist besides Rob Halford in the band... The reunion w/ Rob Halford came in 2004 and the tour was a success... Their comeback album 'Angel of Retribution' in 2005 was a success as well. Again, Priest and Halford needed each other.

give domination, sea of lies, or smoke and mirrors a listen to (those are the best songs by symphony X imo)

I've seen a few videos of Navigate the Seas of the Sun, and was always put off by Tanya's backing vocals at the end. I was hoping they'd kind of pull it together after a few performances of that song (especially since this song comes and goes from the setlist on this tour), but the ending is always pretty dire. I like Tanya, she's a great bassist with a great look, but I don't know how that got past rehearsals. Her timing seems horribly wonky, her "backing vocals" are as upfront as Bruce's, and the song just falls apart at the end every time. Sad, because it's a great song.

Bruce already tried his luck by leaving Maiden once (1993-99). It did not go well. Reviews were kind, but sales were slogging. His absence in Maiden was sorely felt, but Maiden without Bruce were still way, WAY more successful than Bruce without Maiden. Case in point: in 1998 Bruce toured as the support act of Helloween. The same year, Maiden toured with Helloween as THEIR support act. In other words, Bruce had been reduced to being the support act of the support act of his former band. He will NOT make that mistake again.

From what I know: he's a retired pilot, by know. FYI: most "pro" pilots retire around the age of mid 4ties. And their jet is a Boeing 747. A very "pro" decision, I think.
What I just came to know: Arjen Lucassen's Star One project was Arjen and Bruce Dickinson, working together. Hello? I only found Arjen, when I was looking out for other projects, Floor Jansen
might have been a part of, else than After Forever.
