What impressed me the most about this song, aside from Bruce's storytelling, Janick's sick guitar solo, and the emotional charge of the ending speech, is in particular at 4:35 of your react video, there Bruce sang on a higher note, then jumped, then kept singing in midair then landed and kept singing and HIS VOICE DIDN'T BREAK WHEN HE LANDED. I mean HOW. Bruce, my man, stop violating the laws of physics, that's rude.
One of my favorite Maiden live performances. Perfect combination of a beautiful melodic intro that leads to 3 mind blowing solos from Adrian, Dave and Janick. Bruce is at his best right here with storytelling and damn good vocals at this point in his career. Always enjoy seeing reactions to this one!
This band is amazing and all the members are legendary, however one member that usually gets forgotten about is Nicko Mcbrain. His drumming is excellent and I wish more people recognized him!
I love Nicko, he is probably my favarite metal drummer. I tell people hin and Steve are the back bone of the beast Dave, Adian and Janicl are the claws, that leaves Bruce has tha voice
For me he's huge part of the band, especially of their energy. Every time the camera shows him he looks like he's having the time of his life and that grin he always has just elevates every performance that much more.
Hey Ken, if you want to check a song that pushes Bruce Dickenson to the limit, you could react to The Talisman from the same tour. Bruce is stationary almost the hole time and just sing with everything he has.
I went to that gig, first time Iron Maiden playing at Estadio Nacional (60 K people). They had previously announced they will be recording this concert for a live album, so the energy in the audience was far beyond more energetic as it normally is with iron maiden in Chile (madness). I remember that everyone was singing at the top of their lungs, what is not really reflected in the album. It was an excellent concert, perfect sound and perfect performance. Cheers from Chile.
May is Metal Music month. This is Maiden when they went prog metal. The biggest thing that is unlike many other singers is how well Bruce can sing and maintain while be so mobile.
This is less about a pristine vocal performance and all about blurring the line between metal and musical theater. Bruce's wonderfully animated over-the-top in this and it's just so entertaining
I'm in the middle of some complicated work here at the office. I stopped for a coffee and watched this video to relax. Just watching this performance of "Iron" has already given me a lot of energy to continue here!
Yeah it's cool when he runs around, but if anybody wants to see what happens when Bruce just stops, grabs a mic stand, closes his eyes, enables godmode and goes for it - The Talisman is the song.
What a brilliant performance! Well selected, Ken. Iron Maiden is about as solid 24K as you can get in the heavy metal genre. They have been around for decades, literally! Great to see that every band member get to showcase themselves, but the amount of time the camera spent on Nicko McBrain is just too short! With all the band members bombing around on stage, Nicko is the one guy that holds it all together!
Yea like all drummers they kind get lost in the mix behind a kit, Nicko is still killing it , doing it with carrisma and having a blast everytime you see him.
I appreciate his insight. I always watch Bruce's performance and this was the first time I noticed that, as others here mentioned, Adrian, Dave and Janick each had great solos. I dont see that listening to the studio version and never paid attention live until now. I think I notice more when watching this channel because Mr Lavigne is good at providing analysis so I tend to dive deeper into details.
Metal fans are the most loyal fans a band could hope to have. I saw Black Sabbath on their first US tour and I have been a metal head ever since. Iron Maiden is one of my fave metal bands.
I saw them live four times from 1992 to 2014 and the energy on stage an in the crowd is always insane. The moment they jump on stage feels like you stepped on a landmine. Everything is exploding around. Absolutely amazing....
Hey Ken, another great reaction, enjoying watching you slowly turn metalhead, just waiting to see a 7 string Ibanez sitting next to your bass in the background ! As you are a voice coach I think you would appreciate a young talent by the name of Erik Gronwall from Sweden, doing a cover of Iron Maidens Hallowed be thy name. Yes, I know, there can be only one Bruce ! But Erik does an exceptional job of this track whilst in recovery from Lucimia! This guy has done the hards yards , winning Swedish Idol as a kid, and whilst in recovery he has been picked up by "Skid Row" to become their full time lead singer. A great story , we'll worth checking him out and showing him some love/exposure. Enjoy cheers Troy in Australia
Hey Ken, would you mind reacting some day to Mago de Oz? Is a Spanish band, and his second vocalist Jose Andrea (1996-2012) is truly very talented. I would like that so much. Love.- M
That's the first time I've heard them recommended and I absolutely second that. Some elitists like to talk shit about mago de oz and I admit they might not be everyone's cup of tea, but their talent is undeniable
Of course I so wish I was there for this particular show !!!! I have seen them live and they are incredible!!! So much energy and always put all of there heart and soul into each and every show ! I noticed the story most with this video and they present it so well that it feels "EPIC" !!! I enjoyed your take, thoughts and summary as well ! 👍🙂
great reaction!! that concert was in my country... and I was there!!.. and I must to tell you.. they sound exactly the same at the dvd... Iron Maiden alive it's freaking amazing!
For forty years, they have been running and dancing on stage. This group is unique in the world. A great tenor vocal and 3 great guitarists will be on stage until they die. And also Steve
Btw - description of the song in your details mentions it as "Live Dortmind", however I do believe that this one is from Chile. (He puts on Chiles flag at 11:20) :)
I saw them on the same tour this concert was on, my first time seeing them perform dance of death, and it was amazing. Seen them 7 times, soon to be 8 when they come to Manchester next month. Please react to their song called the talisman, the live version from the same concert (En Vivo). Bruce's vocals will have you in absolute awe
champion fencer training by running up hills and such. so very fit. never smoked. on tour now still has a voice.amazing. and the hair. damn. cut it short for pilot career. now growing it out. still has long hair. longer than mine who has not cut hers since 58.
I love this song! I don't know if it's in my top 5 Maiden songs but definitely top 10! As for the live version, I prefer the Death on the Road version. It's a darker, more theatrical performance.
I actually did catch that piercing scream in the audience, and thought, Ok, that was quite high. And it always gets me so much when their live audiences actually sing the guitar lines. Have never heard that with any other group. Bruce as a vocalist is royalty and the band are just titans, simply metal champions.
Late to the party, but please do some more Maiden again! The Talisman (en vivo). Poor Bruce almost looking like he's getting blown backwards by the force of his own voice there... 😅
you might enjoy his evening with bruce dickinson where he tells stories and answers questions from the audience. he gets asked about mcbrain and tells the same story but not in the same way so he has a great storytelling gift to connect with the audience.
really enjoy your vocal analysis. The first one I saw was Hallowed Be Thy Name and I was so appreciative of how much you appreciated Bruce Dickinson’s talent. It was also quite fun getting to see someone experiencing Iron Maiden, especially this song, for the first time. I have been an Iron Maiden fan for 40 years. Since that first experience, I have especially enjoyed your analysis of other bands like Queensryche. I have a suggestion for you, Savatage. The two albums I would most suggest are Streets: A Rock Opera or The Wake of Magellan. The song I would love to see you analyze is called The Hourglass. And, if possible, the combined Savage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra performance of the Hourglass from the 2015 Wacken music festival. It features two vocalists, Zach Stevens and I believe that the second vocalist tours with TSO and his name is Dustin Brayley Here is a link to the performance: ruclips.net/video/Yk11KQRcwg8/видео.html
Can you react a recently performance, like, 2 months ago... Bruce singing the classic Tears of the Dragon (with orchestra) in Sofia... man, that vocals... "Bruce Dickinson - Tears of the Dragon (with orchestra 18.03.2023 in Sofia)". The song Jerusalém is a good choice too, he screams more :)
Phil the lead singer from All That Remains posted a video of him singing "This Calling" live in a bedroom on his twitch. Its great if you want to see up close a skilled professional metal singer do his thing in a raw live setting. Video titled "This Calling from my moms basement!!"
YES!!!!! Or "How Many Tears" from the same show, all 3 singing and it's shows their great on-stage chemistry! BTW, they are getting inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame during their NYC show on May 20th. I see them in Worcester, MA the next day, I can't wait!
I'm so jealous. I live in a secluded part of canada so i dont see many shows. Too expensive and takes too long. Kiske and deris harmonizing is so good. Enjoy your show ill be crying at home haha jk
While watching this, I started doing the math. I was into Maiden as early as 7th grade. Bruce is running around on stage and singing his ass off, and he's almost 65. What a stud. And, he flies the Boeing 747 Iron Maiden jet. C'mon, Man!!!
Ehhh. Thanks Ken. You’re always great. I’m in the minority here - a Maiden faithful for sure. This song is descent but Bruce was really starting to become super nasally. He still a sing but classic Maiden is something special.
Hey Ken, if you want to check a song that pushes Bruce Dickenson to the limit, you could react to The Talisman from the same tour. Bruce is stationary almost the hole time and just sing with everything he has.

Really interesting why The Talisman from this same show hasn't been widely reacted to but is most deserving of it.
Well hopefully we can get his attention to listen to this monster of a band. Super underrated as well
I love the storytelling, but I always have to chuckle when he jumps WHILE singing.
This band is amazing and all the members are legendary, however one member that usually gets forgotten about is Nicko Mcbrain. His drumming is excellent and I wish more people recognized him!

I know that I have to check that out because you almost never see Bruce stationary.

I’ve often said that many Maiden songs were like heavy metal medieval folk songs. Glad someone else is on the same wavelength!
This is less about a pristine vocal performance and all about blurring the line between metal and musical theater. Bruce's wonderfully animated over-the-top in this and it's just so entertaining

Finally! Please also go for "No more lies" from the same album. It is amazing song story telling wise :)
Great song, great album! Maiden never disappoints!! Up the irons!! 🤘
Such a great performance. Maiden and Bruce are great. İ love how he slowly begins and jumps and Hopa and hit high an d of course that Janik gers solo
Iron Maiden as a whole are angels of music, talent and grace. I love them so so so so so so much! 💎
I love when you react to Maiden!

FINALLY A REACTION TO THIS LIVE PERFORMANCE OF DANCE OF DEATH, WHICH TO DATE IS THE BEST ONE ❤❤
I appreciate his insight. I always watch Bruce's performance and this was the first time I noticed that, as others here mentioned, Adrian, Dave and Janick each had great solos. YES!!!!
For forty years, they have been running and dancing on stage. This group is unique in the world. A great tenor vocal and 3 great guitarists will be on stage until they die. And also Steve
Simply outstanding...
Bombastic Best Show Performance!!!
Almost always maiden music/melodies/riffs/passages stand out to me the most and first!
The instrumentals are incredible as always
Happy to see maiden again on your channel
Btw - description of the song in your details mentions it as "Live Dortmind", however I do believe that this one is from Chile. (He puts on Chiles flag at 11:20) :)
When I was a child all the boys listened to Iron Maiden - that was a hit. By the way, great song, performance and reaction 👍👏
Bruce is a God!
Just saw them he sounds better then ever he's a badass there well in there 60s still kick ass need more maiden
Good to see you back to Maiden again, Up the Irons!!!
Great reaction thanks
champion fencer training by running up hills and such. so very fit. never smoked. on tour now still has a voice.amazing. and the hair. damn. cut it short for pilot career. now growing it out. still has long hair. longer than mine who has not cut hers since 58.

Bruce is such a great storyteller.
and he flies 747s and an Olympic fencer
Best band on earth! And Bruce ! Well there’s only one Bruce no one gets even closer !!!!!
I actually did catch that piercing scream in the audience, and thought, Ok, that was quite high. And it always gets me so much when their live audiences actually sing the guitar lines. Hi Ken, Excellent again!! Highly recommend The Clansman live from rock in rio 2001!! Dickinson is awesome!!!❤👍
Maiden always brings me back to your channel lol
Ese concierto fue en Chile 🤘🇨🇱

"Bruce Dickinson - Tears of the Dragon (with orchestra 18.03.2023 in Sofia)". The song Jerusalém is a good choice too, he screams more :)
Please do a react of dream of mirrors live rock in Rio,.one of my favorites songs as to Bruce vocals!!
Try Aces High from Iron Maiden original song from when he was younger
That concert was in chile, not in dortmund
As many othera have suggested, try Talisman from that same tour, it`s Bruce to the limit stuff.
This is probably the 6000th time ive heard this song, and just like every other f****** Maiden song I still end up pumping my fist... hail
Dio Mistreated live 1977 Munich
I SECOND that!!!!!
@@wtglb thank you It’s DIOs best performance
@@soradicalreticsandmonitors2390 it really is, he was at his vocal peak with Rainbow 👍🏻
Top review you should check out the live performance of the clans man from rock in rio
The man is definitely an athlete.
Phil the lead singer from All That Remains posted a video of him singing "This Calling" live in a bedroom on his twitch. Its great if you want to see up close a skilled professional metal singer do his thing in a raw live setting. Video titled "This Calling from my moms basement!!"

Bruce Dickinson is the only singer who can sustain a high B while running and jumping
The studio audio for Dio's "Last in Line" would be a good reaction.
Probably one of his best vocal performances
Nice job, you need to do Beast in Black's Blind and Frozen
0:54 "If it's too loud - you're too old" 😉
Jumping power squats took me off guard
You cant do metal may without the founders of power metal Helloween! Id reccomend eagle fly free live wacken 2018. Unbemeivable
YES!!!!! Or "How Many Tears" from the same show, all 3 singing and it's shows their great on-stage chemistry! BTW, they are getting inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame during their NYC show on May 20th. I see them in Worcester, MA the next day, I can't wait!

YES Please! Can’t discuss awesome metal vocals without mentioning Helloween- all 3 singers!
@Ken Lavigne
Gotta get his attention haha
If you want to see Bruce jump, try The Clansman from Rock in Rio...the man is as fit as a butchers dog...
While watching this, I started doing the math. I was into Maiden as early as 7th grade. Bruce is running around on stage and singing his ass off, and he's almost 65. What a stud. And, he flies the Boeing 747 Iron Maiden jet. C'mon, Man!!!
He’s not flying the 747, anymore. He’s aged out of the licence.
@@6li8storm40 Well, still. Very cool that he did.
@@g54b95 Definitely! He’s had an amazing life, and done so much.
Ehhh. Thanks Ken. You’re always great. I’m in the minority here - a Maiden faithful for sure. This song is descent but Bruce was really starting to become super nasally. He still a sing but classic Maiden is something special.
Damn his a good singer
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Bruce wasn't hitting the high notes as high last year and has calmed down a bit by not running around so much with his new hip
Christ i saw these in 1980 a few changes in line up but the average age must be 65+
Hey Ken! As we have said in my other comment you can't talk about metal vocals without including Helloween ruclips.net/video/cwBpgobasqI/видео.html
Find someone who will look at you the same as Ken looks at Bruce
Excuse my sir, did I see you headbanging?
Bruce Dickenson is the greatest. But, so is Iron Maiden!
He is almost 6o
Lol a maiden critical vocalist who has done sweet fa 😂
....Or Accident of birth albulm
he's wearin' a gas mask!? and on the proper thigh none the less! just sayin'. never noticed that afore.
A re you not human? Never to loud for metal my friend....simply never.
